Chapter 2
On the next Saturday afternoon, Swara and Nitya walked into the auditorium filled with around 40 students from various branches.
For the next one hour, Sanskar kept the students engaged by making the class more interactive and playing few videos regarding the subject. After the lecture, Swara and Nitya waited for the crowd surrounding Sanskar to dissipate and then they made their way towards him.
"Hi girls, did you like today's class?"
"It is really good sir and the way you presented it made it more interesting", replied Nitya.
"I am glad you feel that way. So, what can I do for you?", asked Sanskar with a smile.
"Actually we have decided to do a major project on human computer interaction and we need your help", replied Swara.
"Great, tell me more about the idea, then we can discuss about the implementation", added Sanskar.
Swara showed him a small presentation which she made mentioning the problem, proposed solution, advantages as well as few drawbacks which has to be addressed and Sanskar was really impressed by her thought process and he agreed to work with them as it would help him in his research as well. They decided that every Saturday, Sanskar would review their work and help them if they have any roadblocks.
"Girls, note down my number and call me after 7 in the evening if you have any doubts in the weekdays", suggested Sanskar for which Nitya and Swara agreed and they exchanged numbers. Swara and Nitya started their research and work and are continuously in touch with Sanskar.
Every week Swara waited eagerly for Saturday to come...atleast that's what she thought but her heart knew it very well that she is eager to see Sanskar doesn't matter which day it was. Though Swara never thought of herself as a girl who would fall in love but Sanskar's charm, patience and his kindness made him special for her.
Love didn't happen in the first sight or overnight, but with every meeting, they became more and more comfortable with each other even though all they spoke to each other is about academics and project. Soon three months passed and there were only a couple of weeks for Swara and Nitya to submit their major project.
Everything was going well until one day when Swara was preparing the document and Nitya was scrolling through her instagram.
"Swara, look at this video which Sanskar sir just posted"
"Looks like it's someone's birthday", said Swara looking at all the decoration and the cake. As the video progressed, she saw Sanskar with a boy and a little girl. Sanskar was standing behind them and clapping his hands as the little girl cuts the cake.
"Who are these kids?", asked Nitya to no-one in particular but she got an answer immediately.
"Papa", said the little girl bringing the cake piece to Sanskar which he broke into half and made the girl eat first followed by the little boy. The video ended on the happy faces of the three of them. It had a caption "My angel turns 5"
Nitya and Swara looked at each other shocked.
"Sir is married. I thought he was just two or three years older to us", said Nitya voicing out Swara's thoughts.
"I don't know", is all Swara could answer and it is evident that she was very disappointed.
After that because of Summer break, their college remained closed for two weeks and Swara and Sanskar couldn't meet. Though Swara never said it aloud that she had feelings for Sanskar, since the day she learned that he is married and have kids, she felt void in her life. She didn't know what to do as falling in love with professor is only frowned upon but now as he is happily married, she can't even imagine her life with him.
Considering it to be totally her loss, she diverts her mind from Sanskar and focusses on her project and completes it during her break.
One fine evening, Swara was sitting in her balcony reading a book, she hears a familiar voice from the road leading to the house opposite to her. As she leans on the railing, she finds Sanskar speaking with her neighbor. Finding him there brought a big smile on her face and involuntarily she called his name loud enough for him to hear and turn back.
"Hey Swara", exclaimed Sanskar walking towards her house.
"What are you doing here sir?", asked Swara.
"My friend Abhay lives here", said Sanskar pointing to the opposite house.
"Oh great, wait I am coming down", saying which Swara rushed downstairs not bothering about what she was wearing.
By the time she reached, Abhay was there too with Sanskar.
"Sanskar, my dad wants me to run an errand for him...so, can you please wait for 30 minutes in my home, till I come back?", Abhay was saying this to Sanskar as Swara approached.
"Well, Abhay...I don't really know anyone from your home. What I will do sitting there...", before Sanskar could complete Swara interrupted.
"You can come with me to my house sir, I will show you the project and you can suggest me if any changes are needed"
Out of the two options he had, Sanskar felt spending time with Swara is far better than staying alone with Abhay's parents, so he agreed and followed Swara into her two storey villa.
"You have a beautiful house Swara", complimented Sanskar walking alongside her.
"My cousin is an interior designer...she loves decorating houses", replied Swara with a smile and as they were going upstairs, a girl came out of her room with a mobile in her hand. Looking at her Swara introduced Sanskar to her.
"Raagu, this is Sanskar sir who is helping me with my major project and sir she is Ragini, the cousin I was speaking about"
"Hi Mr. Sanskar, nice to meet you", greeted Ragini with a shake hand before getting back to her phone.
"She is not a people person", whispered Swara as they walked on to the terrace.
"I could see that", replied Sanskar with a smile.
She made him sit on a bench and went into her room to get her laptop and some snacks. They both sat there for more than 20 minutes going over the prototype which Swara made. Sanskar was impressed by the outcome so he didn't suggest many changes as he felt it was really good.
"I am really impressed Swara. You did a great job"
"Thank you so much sir", said Swara with a tinge of redness in her cheeks. She closed the laptop and they both sat there watching the sunset and munching some chips. Sanskar hasn't been alone with Swara before and now being there in her personal space is making him feel very special. When he was young, he wanted to marry a girl chosen by his mother.
"If my mom would have been alive, probably she would find a girl like Swara, to be my life partner. She is so sweet, innocent and childish. Since the day I met her, I always wondered how can someone be so optimistic and cheerful all the time", thought Sanskar looking at the bubbly girl who is sitting cross legged beside him in her pajamas and talking non-stop. Though her words were not registering in his head, the movement of her eyes and her lips were very attractive and he just couldn't take his eyes of her.
"Sanskar sir, Is it the first time you are visiting Abhay? I didn't see you earlier", asked Swara turning towards him bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Ya, I usually go back home as soon as I am done with my classes. But yesterday my car broke down and Abhay knows a mechanic who came over and took my car which he said will be ready by today evening. Abhay said he will take me there in an hour so I accompanied him to his house. I really wish he comes back soon. There are kids waiting for me at home", replied Sanskar looking at his watch.
Before Swara could say anything, Abhay comes back and they both decide to leave. Just then they hear a cry of an animal and Swara looked down the street to see a cow being dragged by its owner and the calf is being taken away by another man.
"Haww how can they separate a mother and her baby?", said Swara with sympathy evident in her voice. Swara almost had tears in her eyes hearing to the cry of the baby calf.
"May be the little one is of no use to its owner", replied Sanskar not thinking much.
"How can you be so heartless Sanskar...if our kids are not special, will you abondon them?", asked Swara getting emotional making Sanskar and Abhay shocked.
