Chapter 5: Sunday 6th of November
Whoopsie, I accidentally posted this Chapter in the wrong book at first lol. But here it is in the right one haha
Wooyoung's POV
"Wooyoung, wake up. Come on, I want to get out of bed and get ready. We have our Hogsmede trip today Wooyoung." My eyes snapped open at the end of that sentence and I shot up in the bed quickly.
"Thank god today has finally come, I've been waiting so long," I whined before flopping back down, causing Yeosang to groan.
"Wooyoung, I let you sleep here sometimes because you're a clingy person and I love you dearly, but I do not enjoy being squashed by you in the morning," he groaned. I giggled at that and pushed myself up slightly using my arms, hovering over Yeosang.
"Aww, you love me," I said with a grin. His expression turned into one of puzzle as he tilted his head.
"Of course I love you, you know that. But is that seriously the only thing that you took from what I just said," he asked with a sigh. I giggled again and nodded quickly, making him burst into laughter.
"You're an idiot," he giggled as he wrapped his arms around my waist and tugged me back down on top of him. I squealed and burst into laughter as he tickled my sides before he let up and kissed my cheek softly. I settled down and hugged him softly, tucking my head into his neck as he did the same to me, letting out a breath.
"Come on Woo, we should probably get up so we can meet with the others and go to Hogsmede," Yeosang said softly. I nodded and sat up, grabbing his hand and tugging him up as well.
"You can wear some of my clothes. Make sure you put a scarf on as well because it's snowing pretty heavily," Yeosang said.
"What would I do without you Mr Kang Yeosang, my protector," I said with a grin as we both went to his trunk to grab some more casual clothes than the normal robes.
"From what I've heard and noticed, Choi San seems to be your protector lately," Yeosang said. I frowned at that and rolled my eyes.
"He just did what anyone would do, that doesn't make him a good person. He hates me and I hate him," I said with a shrug. Yeosang sighed and I turned to see him sitting on his bed, patting beside him. I rolled my eyes but walked back and sat down next to him.
"What," I asked him.
"I know it's been hard for you Wooyoung but you can't keep lying to yourself. The San I saw on that pitch, was the same San we first met on the train in our first year. You only hate him because he changed but deep down, you will always care about your first close friend you made outside of me," Yeosang said softly.
"Yeosang I hate him, I really do. I don't care how he used to act, he has shown his true colours for years," I said with a frown. Yeosang sighed but gave me a tight-lipped smile before nodding.
"Hurry up and finish getting changed," he said. I nodded and we both quickly stripped from our pj's and got changed before leaving Yeosang's dormitory. We walked through the entrance to the common room and out into the hall. Yeosang halted abruptly and I bumped into him before peaking over his shoulder to see what made him stop. My eyes widened in surprise as I noticed a small Ravenclaw against the wall with a Slytherin in front of him, their foreheads resting together. The Ravenclaw's shoulders were shaking and I realised he was crying.
"Hongjoong? What's wrong," Yeosang asked quickly as he strode forwards. Both of their heads snapped towards us and I shivered at the piercing and angry gaze Seonghwa sent towards us. Hongjoong's eyes were rimmed red and the usually always cheerful boy was no longer.
"I'm ok," he sniffled.
"Obviously not when you're crying. What happened," Yeosang asked, this time directing the question to Seonghwa. I noticed how Seonghwa's jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed in anger. Damn he is scary.
"Couple of Slytherins were harassing him," Seonghwa said, his voice tight.
"What were they saying," I asked with a frown.
"It's fine, I'm all good," Hongjoong said before letting out a small sniffle. Yeah, totally all good.
"They were talking shit about his parents because they're muggles and they told him he wasn't worthy of my attention," Seonghwa said angrily.
"What assholes," I said with a huff. I don't get how they can be so rude to someone like Hongjoong. He's like one of the nicest and most cheerful people I know, he doesn't deserve that.
"They um, they said I should just die," Hongjoong whispered, shifting slightly before sniffling again and moving forwards to tuck himself back into Seonghwa's arms. Seonghwa immediately held him tightly and rested his head on top of the smallers. It was gentle, it was heart-warming and it was sweet.
"I am so sorry you have to go through that Hongjoong," Yeosang said quietly.
"It's ok. The words don't hurt as much as the punches," Hongjoong said quietly. Seonghwa quite literally almost growled at that and he wrapped and arm around Hongjoong's shoulder, turning him away.
"Come on, let's go somewhere we can relax," he said. Hongjoong nodded and trotted along with him, turning slightly and waving to us with a small upturn of his lips as they left.
"I hate Slytherins," Yeosang said angrily.
"Yeah. I hate San," I said with a nod. Yeosang scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"San has protect Hongjoong before, San saved your life," Yeosang said.
"Still hate him," I said with a shrug.
"Come on, let's just go and have some fun," Yeosang said. I nodded and we started walking down the hall, Yeosang's hand quickly slipping into mine and our fingers interlinking.
~~~~~
We caught up with Jongho, Yunho and Mingi, our adorable puppy Hufflepuff that we adopted into the group.
"Mingi, my legs are too small for this much snow, can you carry me," I asked with a pout as we walked across the school grounds towards Hogsmede. Mingi grinned at that and instantly bent down. I giggled happily and hurried over, climbing onto his back. He stood up again and suddenly I was much higher than I usually am. I quickly placed my hands on his head, fixing up the positioning of his beanie.
"Thanks Gigi," I said happily.
"Anytime munchkin," he replied. I grinned at that before dropping my chin to rest on top of his head.
"You spoil him too much," Yeosang said, shaking his head.
"Come on Sangie, Wooyoung is mentally the youngest in our group. We gotta look after him," Mingi said with a shrug. Yes, spoil me as much as you want.
"I've got you Wooyo, don't let mean Sangie upset you," Mingi said, glancing up at me. I giggled at that and nodded quickly to him. Yeosang glanced at me and I grinned before poking my tongue out at him. Mingi carried me all the way to the path to Hogsmede, his long legs helping us to get through the snow more easily.
"Ok, you can put him down now Mingi. You don't have to teach him like that much of a Princess," Yeosang said, rolling his eyes.
"Just because you're jealous, doesn't mean you have to be such a party pooper," I said as Mingi put me down. Yeosang rolled his eyes and I grinned as we continued walking. While we were walking, I glanced off to the right and noticed someone sitting on a log in the snow down a different path. I slowly down slightly and noticed that they had their head in their hands. I frowned when I realised who it was, it was San.
"Hey guys, I'm gonna quickly go check something, I'll meet you in Hogsmede," I said. The others seemed confused but nodded and kept walking while I stopped. I waited for them to turn the corner out of sight before I quickly walked towards San.
"Didn't think you were such a cry-baby," I said with a chuckle, making his head shoot up. His eyes flicked around nervously before his face switched slightly. I continued walking over, tilting my head to the side in confusion.
"You ok," I asked worriedly, noticing he looked quite uncomfortable.
"We aren't having an hour Wooyoung," he rushed out.
"I mean last time it wasn't technically a full hour, we can carry over," I said with a shrug. This is the first time he's been the one who seems to need help, there's no way I'm not going to try and return the favour. He seemed unsure for a few seconds before nodding quickly. I walked over and squatted down beside him, not wanting to get snow all over Yeosang's clothes.
"You're wearing a Ravenclaw scarf," he pointed out quietly.
"Yeah, it's Yeosang's. I slept in his room last night so I'm wearing his clothes," I replied with a nod.
"You slept in his room," he questioned.
"Yeah, I tend to that sometimes," I admitted.
"You're allowed to do that," he asked in surprise.
"I mean I've never gotten in trouble for it," I said with a shrug.
"Didn't know you could do that," he said quietly. I chuckled but nodded.
"Back to you though. What's wrong," I asked him. His eyes flicked off to the side again before he closed them and looked down. I frowned and looked off to the side trying to see what was bothering him so much but there was nothing there. That's when it hit me.
"Is there a thestral there," I asked him softly. He nodded quickly at that and I frowned again. It's odd to see San so unsure and unconfident.
"Do you want me to take you back to the castle," I asked him.
"No, I'll be fine. You're going to Hogsmede and I don't want people seeing us," he said.
"What, seeing us not down each others throats," I asked with a laugh. He chuckled weakly at that, his head turning back up to look at me.
"I still hate you, I just, we just help each other sometimes," he said quietly.
"I know, it's the same for me," I said with a nod. I heard a noise and San's shoulders tensed as he quickly reached out and grabbed my shoulder.
"It's ok," I said softly, placing my hand on his before placing my other on his ankle.
"God I hate them so much," he whispered.
"Do they look scary," I asked him.
"They're different but not scary. It's just what they represent, what they remind me of," he said with a sigh.
"Come on, I'll take you back," I said.
"No, it's fine," he said quickly.
"San, it's not fine. You're practically just frozen here sitting in the cold and unable to move. If you really don't want to be seen with me, I can go and find Seonghwa," I said. He seemed to be contemplating for a few seconds before he glanced to the left and yelped.
"Wooyoung," he cried out, jolting forwards and wrapping his arms around me, tucking his head into my neck as he body shook.
"Hey, what's wrong," I asked in alarm.
"They're right there," he whimpered. I looked over but I still couldn't see anything. This is so weird. I wrapped my arms around San's body and rubbed his back softly. Most people will be in Hogsmede today but San is right, some people might still be in the castle but there is another place no one goes.
"Wanna take out some spare brooms and throw the quaffle together," I asked him. His reaction was almost immediate, relaxing slightly and nodding his head quickly.
"Come on, follow me this way," I said gently, standing up and pulling him up with me. He held me tightly and stayed close as I quickly guided him away and onto the path back to the castle. Once we were far enough away, he pulled away slightly but stayed with his shoulder pressed against mine, his hand clasping mine tightly.
"I'm gonna fly rings around you," I said, trying to rile him up a bit so he would forget about the thestrals for a bit.
"You wish," he scoffed. I grinned at that before tugging his hand, pulling quicker. We both started running and then racing towards the quidditch pitch. When we hit the bigger layers of snow, I started to struggle a bit but San continued on pretty easily, his strength a lot better than mine.
"This is unfair," I whined but San just laughed and continued on. He got there before me and I tried to quicken my pace but tripped and face planted with a groan.
"WOO," San cried out and a few seconds later there were hands on my arms and I was tugged up.
"You ok," he asked worriedly but I just burst into a fit of giggle.
"God you're an idiot," he said with a chuckle. I yelped as he scooped me up and I clung to him, allowing him to carry me over to the entrance to the pitch.
"I dibs the best broom," I said, racing off towards the storage room. When I got there, I quickly grabbed the broom in the best condition, San trailing in later to grab one for himself.
"Hey, have you gotten a new broom yet? Gotta make sure you can't use any excuses when we absolutely smash you guys this week," San said. I scowled at that and rolled my eyes.
"Don't worry I'm getting mine in two days. I'll still be able to fly rings around you," I said with a grin.
"Hey, have you been eating properly," San asked in concern.
"Yeah, why," I asked with a frown as we walked out onto the pitch.
"Just don't want you to get hurt. You almost fell off of your broom the last time you flew," he said with a shrug.
"Oh, right. Yeah, I've been eating fine. Yeosang's been annoying me every time I don't eat enough in his eyes and makes me eat more," I told him.
"Good, I'm glad," San said with a nod.
"We'll have a proper hour and then leave ok," I said. San glanced over at me and I thought he seemed unhappy but he nodded so I brushed it off. We both got on our brooms and pushed off into the air.
"Wooyoung, you do realise we forgot the quaffle right," San said as we turned to face each other. I glanced at him before looking at my hands.
"Whoops," I chuckled, flying back down quickly. I went to the storage room and grabbed out an old quaffle before going back out and flying back over to San.
"Catch," he said, chucking it over to the Slytherin who caught it with ease.
"You go to the other end of the pitch and I'll go this one," I said. He nodded before we both distanced ourselves. We began to throw the quaffle back and forth, changing it up constantly and flying around to make it harder.
After a while, I stopped flying while holding the quaffle.
"Hey San, I have a question," I said.
"Yeah, what's up," he asked, flying closer.
"Do you like Hongjoong," I asked him. He frowned at that but I studied his face closer, noticing how he was carefully guarded. I've noticed recently that San seems to act differently sometimes. Sometimes he hates people but when he's alone, or when he's just with Seonghwa, you can notice a change in him and how he acts if you watch closely enough.
"And I want you to tell me honestly, not how you think anyone else expects you to answer," I said. I want to see how San truly feels.
"Seonghwa cares about Hongjoong," San said slowly.
"I know that, but I'm asking about you. Hongjoong was in tears earlier because a couple of Slytherins were harassing him. They basically told him to go kill himself because he's a muggle-born," I said. I knew San tried to keep his face impassive but for a brief second I saw the anger in his eyes.
"I can't help that. He has Seonghwa to look after him," he said.
"You're lying," I said quietly, tilting my head in confusion. He's always been so vocal about his dislike of 'mudbloods' and 'blood traitor'. I thought maybe he just wasn't that passionate about it but his reaction made it seem like he hated it altogether. This is definitely not the San that I've grown to know.
"If you were there when Hongjoong was getting harassed, would you have stood up for him? Would you have looked after a muggle born," I asked him.
"Stop it Wooyoung, none of this concerns you," he said with a frown.
"I'm just asking a question San, all you need to do is answer it," I said.
"Yeah well just shut up about," he spat. Ok, so he's done a complete 180 again.
"Is this your way of saying the hour is over," I said slowly, raising an eyebrow as I flew closer to him.
"Oh fuck off. God, I can't believe I actually thought you could go this long without being annoying," San grumbled.
"Excuse me? You're the one being a literal child right now," I said, feeling anger bubble up inside me.
"Well excuse me for not liking you insinuating I care about a filthy mudblood," he snapped. That crossed the line for me and before I could stop myself, my hands shot forward and I shoved him as hard as I could in the chest in anger. He yelped and slid back and before I could even comprehend what was happening, he fell from his broom and plunged down.
"SANNIE," I screamed, catching his broom before flying down to the ground quickly. We weren't that high, we weren't that high, please tell me we weren't that high. I jumped from my broom and sprinted over, dropping to my knees beside San who was on his back with his eyes closed. I quickly cupped his cheek with one hand and brushed his hair back with my other hand.
"San, San, hey San," I rushed out quickly, tapping his cheek softly. His eyes fluttered softly before they slipped open, his eyes a little unfocused.
"Oh god, I am so sorry. I forgot we were on our brooms, I'm so sorry," I said quickly. I am such an idiot. He literally saved me from falling from my broom and getting hurt and then I go and push him off of his.
"S'ok," he whispered before his face scrunched up slightly and he turned his head to the side.
"How bad are you hurt," I asked him. He sighed before slowly pushing himself up, stumbling to his feet. I shot up immediately, my hands coming out to be prepared to catch him if he fell.
"I'm fine," he said quietly.
"San you aren't fine, you just fell from like 4 meters," I said. He took another step but stumbled again so I shot forwards and grabbed his waist to stabilise him. My eyes well up with tears as he instantly leant into me, grasping my clothes tightly. What have I done?
"Seonghwa," he whispered.
"Y-Yeah I'll get Seonghwa but I have to take you to madam Promfrey first," I said shakily.
"No, just Seonghwa," he whispered.
"San, I, I pushed you from pretty high," I said quietly. He just shook his head and held me tighter.
"Ok, ok Seonghwa," I said with a nod. I slowly and gently guided him out of the pitch and towards the castle. I know how he is about being seen so I made sure his head remained tucked into my neck while also trying to avoid as many of the few stragglers that remained in the castle. I eventually got to the front of the Slytherin entrance when I remembered something.
"Seonghwa won't be here, he took Hongjoong somewhere," I said.
"Astronomy tower," San whispered. I nodded and quickly moved in the direction of the tower. It took another 10 minutes because I had to make sure I didn't move too quickly for San. When I looked at the stairs, I cringed. There is no way I'm going to be able to get San up there but I also don't want to leave him down here alone when I have no idea how hurt he is. Not to mention I'm not really excited to tell Seonghwa I attacked and hurt his best friend. I'm kind of scared of Seonghwa. I drew in a deep breath to settle the nerves before deciding on what to do.
"SEONGHWA. PARK SEONGHWA," I yelled out. San whimpered and the small sound caught me off guard but I quickly rubbed his back. I am not used to seeing San so timid and weak in a way. I heard a noise and my head snapped up to see Seonghwa coming down slowly with a frown on his face, Hongjoong following behind him cautiously.
"What do you want Jung," he asked with narrowed eyes as he glared at me. His eyes then moved to the side slightly before they widen. Ah shit.
"Sannie," he gasped out, shooting forwards and grabbing San from my eyes.
"San, what's wrong? What happened," he asked quickly and I could hear a hint of panic in his voice. Park Seonghwa rarely shows emotions, unless it comes to Choi San. San didn't say anything but I noticed how he swayed slightly before clinging to Seonghwa. Then time I met Seonghwa eyes, they were full of anger and I thought I would die on the spot. I stepped back subconsciously and bit my lip anxiously.
"What the hell happened? Why is San like this? Why does he seem disorientated," Seonghwa asked, his voice level. Oh my god that is terrifying. His voice is level but you can still hear the anger in it.
"I didn't mean to, I swear," I said hurriedly, feeling my eyes well up with tears.
"WHAT DID YOU DO," Seonghwa yelled.
"Seonghwa calm down," Hongjoong said hurriedly.
"No. No, he hurt San I am not going to calm down," Seonghwa snapped.
"Tell me what the hell you did right now," Seonghwa said to me.
"We were on our brooms and we argued and then he um, he insulted-, he said something rude and I reacted without thinking. I pushed him and he fell before I could stop him," I stuttered out.
"YOU PUSHED HIM OFF HIS BROOM. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU," Seonghwa yelled. He went to move forwards but San suddenly moved back and looked up at him. I couldn't hear what he said but whatever it was, it made Seonghwa even angrier before he softened completely and he hugged San close.
"I'm sorry," San whispered.
"It's ok, I forgive you," Seonghwa replied gently before looking back up at me, his face a lot more neutral.
"Please try to be more aware of your surroundings Wooyoung. I apologise for yelling but I'm sure you understand," Seonghwa said. I nodded quickly, understanding but also not wanting to have him angry at me again. Seonghwa then wrapped his arm around San and guided him down the hall. Hongjoong turned to me once they were gone and smiled softly.
"You don't need to look so guilty. San is a good person but he is pressured to act a certain way so more often than not he's going to be an asshole at some point. I'm sure whatever he did, it warranted your reaction, it just sucks that you were in the air," Hongjoong said.
"I swear I didn't mean to hurt him," I whimpered, the tears finally falling down my face. Hongjoong cooed softly and walked over, wrapping his arms around me tightly.
"I didn't want to hurt him," I choked out, raising my arms to cling to his back tightly.
"You are an absolute sweetheart Wooyoung, I know you wouldn't want to hurt someone like that," Hongjoong said softly. I sniffled but nodded into his neck and let out a deep breath.
"Do you want to go and find Yeosang or Yunho," Hongjoong asked softly.
"They went to Hogsmede, they probably don't even realise I'm not there," I said with a weak chuckle.
"I'm sure they're all missing their favourite little Gryffindor," Hongjoong said softly, making me giggle.
"Want to come with me to the Great hall and see if there's still some stuff from lunch, it wasn't too long ago," he said. I stepped back and wiped my eyes quickly before nodding and we started to make our way down to the Great Hall.
"Hey, it's your birthday tomorrow isn't it," I asked him. Hongjoong smiled softly before nodding.
"I didn't expect you to know. I don't expect anyone to really know," he said quietly.
"Seonghwa will know and that's all you need right," I said, making his grin widen.
"Yeah, Seonghwa is amazing," he said with a nod.
"But even if he didn't remember, I know for a fact that there's going to be quite a few people saying happy birthday to you tomorrow," I said.
"I appreciate it Wooyoung," Hongjoong said softly.
"Hey Hongjoong," I said slowly.
"Yeah, what's up," he asked me.
"Can you let me know how San is tomorrow," I asked. He smiled softly at that and nodded before ruffling my hair softly.
~~~~~
"Where were you today," Yeosang asked as he slipped into the bed next to me. For once he had decided to come to my common room rather than for me to go to his. It's quite a rare occurrence. I opened my arms and allowed him to cuddle up into them. I then closed the curtains around my bed with my wand and slipped my wand onto my bedside table.
"I decided to fly around for a bit and then I ran into Hongjoong. I decided to spend some time with him and make sure he doesn't get hurt or harassed again," I explained.
"That's nice. It's his birthday tomorrow as well," Yeosang said quietly.
"Yeah, I know," I said with a nod.
"I got him a pendant for that bracelet he likes to wear a lot," Yeosang said.
"That's sweet of you Sangie," I whispered, nuzzling my nose against his cheek softly. He let out a breath that brushed against my cheek softly and I smiled, turning my head and placing a quick kiss to his cheek.
"Did you enjoy Hogsmede with the other," I asked quietly and he nodded.
"I missed you though," he whispered.
"I know, I'm sorry I didn't come back," I said softly.
"That's ok, I'm glad you spent some time with Hongjoong," Yeosang said quietly.
"We should head off to bed," I said. Yeosang nodded and we both curled up close together, tangling our legs together. I laid there for a little while before drifting off to sleep but not before my mind drifted to San. I hurt him today, more than he has ever hurt me and it was just lucky we weren't any higher. It was going to well and then I just had to ruin everything didn't I. I just hope he forgives me for this and we don't stick to hating each other 24/7, those hours are actually kind of nice. Not that I would tell anyone.
