Chapter 3: Wednesday 12th of October

Wooyoung's POV

I woke up with a jolt, instantly wide awake before grinning. Today is this 12 of October, which means it's a very special 5th years birthday. I jumped out of bed and hurriedly rushed to Yunho's bed, shaking him awake. He sat up in an instant, his eyes wide and confused.

"What? What's happening? Are we late? Did I sleep in," he asked hurriedly.

"It's October 12," I said with a grin. He seemed confused for a few seconds before his eyes lit up and he grinned. He got out of bed in an instant and we both hurriedly got changed into our robes, grabbing our wands and heading out to the common room. I then ran over to the 5th years dorm, knocking quickly. The door opened to show another 5th year.

"Sanha," I said with a grin, wiggling my eyebrows. He grinned as well, handing me a confetti cannon before stepping inside. I rushed inside the door, immediately spotting the birthday boy sitting up on his bed, wiping his eyes tiredly.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONGHO," I screamed, pulling the cannon before running over and catapulting myself at him, landing on top of him as he groaned. A few seconds later there was another body on mine and I groaned along with Jongho.

"I hate you guys so much," he said but his actions betrayed himself as he did his best to hug both of us tightly.

"Happy birthday," I whispered before placing a quick kiss to his cheek.

"Happy birthday Jongho, I'm so proud of you," Yunho said softly as we all sat up and made sure we weren't on top of each other. Jongho had a wide smile on his face and it made me happy to know we could lighten him up so much.

"You guys are going to come out to the common room for my party right," he asked. I clutched my hand to my heart in mock offense and shook my head.

"How dare you think we would ever miss that," I gasped.

"Wooyoung just wants the Butterbeer," Yunho said, making Jongho chuckle.

"I do not," I said indignantly, slapping Jongho lightly when he laughed at me. Such a rude child.

"Go away guys, I gotta get ready so I'm not late for breakfast," Jongho said.

"Alright but only because it's your birthday and I can't say no to you," I said with a sigh. I quickly reached over and ruffled Jongho's hair softly before getting up and leaving. Yunho followed me and we both walked out of the Gryffindor room to find Yeosang waiting patiently outside as usual. I held out my hand happily and he sighed before slipping his hand into mine, holding it softly. Together the three of us walked to the Great Hall to have breakfast. Yeosang joined us yet again, sitting down beside me as we started putting food on our plates. I wasn't feeling very hungry so I just put a sausage on my plate and slowly began cutting it up into pieces. As I was eating, I zoned out slightly but snapped back into attention when there was a gentle squeeze on my shoulder. I blinked and turned my head to look over at Yeosang.

"Sorry, I zoned out," I admitted quietly, noticing the concern on his face. He reached over and gently cupped my face, running his thumb over my jaw softly.

"You need to eat more Woo," he said gently. I frowned before rolling my eyes.

"It's fine Yeosang, I'm just not hungry," I said, reaching up and grabbing his hand before squeezing gently.

"You sure," he asked worriedly, tilting his head slightly.

"I'm sure," I replied with a nod. He frowned slightly before letting out a breath and giving a small smile as he turned back to his food.

"Stop worrying so much about me," I told him softly.

"I'm always going to worry about you," he mumbled before shovelling food into his mouth. I chuckled and continued to slowly eat my sausage.

~~~~~
The rest of the day went by quite quickly until it was finally the last subject of the day, Care of Magical Creatures.
"Alright everyone, today we are going to be meeting thestrals," Professor Hwang said as we went close to the edge of the forest. He was carrying a container and opened it to show raw meat.
"Now what is something someone can tell me about thestrals," he asked.
"Thestrals can only be seen by those who have witnessed death," one of the girls said.
"Very good. Now when I was younger, my mother died. It wasn't anything too graphic, but I was there for her last breath so I can see thestrals. I'm not really expecting anyone to be able to see the thestrals so I will give you guidance," Professor Hwang said. We all nodded and I noticed the bushes rustling. As this happened, I noticed movement to my left and I looked over to see San staring at the ground, his body turned away. He must've realised I was staring as his head came up and he frowned angrily.
"What are you looking at Jung," he spat angrily. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"An asshole, that's what," I replied with a shrug.
"Go to hell," he frowned.
"You're here so I'm already there," I said with a shrug.
"Mr Choi, Mr Jung. If you're going to continue arguing, you can do it elsewhere. Right now I am trying to teach a class and you two are yet again disrupting it," Professor Hwang said. I immediately snapped my mouth shut, not wanting to have my dad called again. To my surprise, San went quiet as well and tuned back into the class, though seeming a bit tense still.
Once class finished, I ran back to the Common Room and into my dorm, hurriedly getting changed into some more casual clothes rather than my Gryffindor robes. Those going to Jongho's party don't have to go to the Great Hall for dinner because we'll have food in our common room during the party. When I got back out, Jongho was already setting things up in the Common room with a few other 5th years and Yunho. The Common room may seem small at times but it has a special spell in which it automatically gets bigger to accommodate however many people come into it.
"You excited Jong," I asked as I moved over and wrapped my arm around his shoulder. He smiled his beautiful gummy smile and nodded quickly. I cooed and gently pinched his cheeks, making him smile bashfully before looking down shyly.
"How many people do you think are going to come," I asked him.
"Jongho is pretty popular," Renjun, another 5th year said quietly.
"He's grown up so much, our big boy," Yunho said as he walked in, wiping away fake tears.
"If you two are just going to embarrass me tonight, then I am going to officially uninvited you," Jongho groaned. I giggled and moved over to Yunho, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"We will forever be your embarrassing big brothers. It is literally our job to tease you," I pointed out. Jongho rolled his eyes and turned away but I could see the little smile that threatened to claim his face.
~~~~~

Within an hour or two the party was in full swing, Jongho's friends from every house coming to celebrate, even a few Slytherins. There were snacks and drinks, as well as very special butter beer that I was excited for. After making sure Jongho knew how much I loved him and was proud of him, I had started drinking, getting quite drunk after two drinks. I ended up standing in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall to stop myself from falling as I continued to drink a bit more. I was standing there for a little while before my attention was drawn by a Ravenclaw. I could tell he was in Ravenclaw as he was still wearing his blue tie over his white shirt. I vaguely recognised him as someone in my year but I couldn't remember who he was exactly. He was cute though, that much I know.

"Hey," the Ravenclaw said, hiccupping slightly. I grinned at that, standing up a bit straighter.

"Why hello," I said.

"You're pretty cute," I added with a giggle. He smirked and leaned forwards, brushing a strand of my hair back before placing his lips beside my ear.

"Yeah? Cute enough to get out of here for a bit and have some fun," he whispered. I giggled again and nodded quickly, stumbling slightly as it made me a little dizzy. I am very inexperienced as of yet, given I haven't really told people I'm gay but eh, take it when you get it. Be free. And also a bit drunk. He slipped his arm around my waist and together the two of us stumbled our way out of the Gryffindor common room and into the halls, heading towards the closest bathroom.

San's POV

Dinner was pretty dull, Seonghwa was in a bad mood for who knows what reason and was glaring at everything in existence, making everyone definitely steer clear of us. I had glanced over to the Gryffindor table and noticed many were missing, reminding me that there was a party happening for a 5th year which is most likely why. Once dinner was finished, Hongjoong popped up out of nowhere and dragged Seonghwa off, saying something about cheering him up a bit. I didn't know and I didn't care just as long as it would get him out of whatever mood he had fallen in to. I still had some energy so I just started to aimlessly walk through the halls, glancing at all the paintings. I was walking for around 20 minutes, ending up close to the Gryffindor wing when I heard a thud. I frowned at that and glanced around, noticing the toilets off to the side. There was another thud and a whimper and I frowned in worry, hurrying over to the toilets. It's not uncommon for people to get into fights, even muggle ones and if it's a Slytherin, then I should probably help them. I swung the door open and rushing inside, freezing in surprise as I saw two boys against the wall kissing. They both stopped and turned to face me when they realised I had walked in. I recognised one of them immediately, Wooyoung. I was about to scoff and roll my eyes but I hesitated, taking a closer look. Wooyoung was pinned to the wall, his cheeks flush and seeming like he could barely stand properly.

"What's going on," I asked quickly. Wooyoung giggled at that, grinning slightly.

"I'm beating you at something Sannie," he sing-songed.

"I'm gonna lose my virginity before you," he giggled. I know Wooyoung, I know he can be whiney and happy but I noticed the way his words were slurring slightly and that's when it hit me. Wooyoung was drunk. I felt my blood boil at that, a sharp protectiveness hitting me out of nowhere.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you seriously trying to take advantage of someone who is drunk," I asked angrily.

"Go away, have your own fun somewhere else," the other said. He's drunk too, but that still doesn't make it right. He is clearly less drunk than Wooyoung is. I reached into my robes and ripped out my wand, pointing it at the boy in anger.

"You let Wooyoung go right now or I swear to god I will hurt you," I seethed. The guy seemed to realise it wasn't worth it because he just scoffed and let go, leaving the bathroom quickly. I sighed and put my wand away, turning back to Wooyoung to find him glaring at me. Not gonna lie, it was more cute than intimidating.

"Why did you do that," he whined.

"Trust me, you'll be thanking me in the morning," I said. Wooyoung huffed and pushed himself away from the wall but stumbled immediately. I quickly shot forwards and wrapped an arm around his waist to stop him from falling, holding him gently as he continued to sway. He is way too drunk right now, I need to try and sober him up a bit.

"Hey Wooyoung, do you like the stars," I asked him. His head lolled back so he could look at me, a bright smile on his face as his eyes lit up.

"I used to watch the stars all the time with my mum, before she got sick," he whispered. His mum is sick? I was surprised at the information but pushed it to the very back of my mind. Wooyoung is drunk right now, it's not something he would've told me if he was in his right mind.

"Do you want to come and watch the stars," I asked, slipping my hand into his so I would be able to guide him along. No use leaving him to get lost. Wooyoung nodded aggressively before giggling and putting most of his weight on me.

"Alright, let's go see the stars," I sighed. I somehow managed to tug him from the bathroom, through the halls and over to the bottom of the astronomy tower. The cool air should hopefully be able to sober him up more and then I can be rid of him.

"I don't wanna walk up all those stairs," Wooyoung groaned.

"Sannie, carry me," he whined, pouting up at me. I blinked in surprise before nodding slowly. Wooyoung cried in triumph and shuffled behind me before I could realise what was happening. I sighed and bent down, allowing him to awkwardly climb onto my back. I slipped my arms under his thighs and hoisted him up a bit further before climbing up the stairs. It took a few minutes and was pretty tiring but we eventually got to the top of the astronomy tower. I gently put Wooyoung down, chuckling as he dropped down to the floor quickly. He giggled before flopping onto his back and starfishing out on the floor, looking up at the stars. I glanced at him, making sure he wouldn't accidentally fall before sighing and sitting down, leaning against one of the walls. I let out a breath and just looked out across the school grounds, relaxing slightly. We must've been sitting there for about ten minutes before the silence was broken.

"Thank you," Wooyoung whispered. I went to reply but before I could, Wooyoung spoke up again.

"Can we please have an hour," he asked quietly. I was caught off guard by the question and looked over at Wooyoung who was now sitting up and watching me nervously. He had clearly sobered up a bit by now which means the cold air is working. I contemplated his words for a few seconds. We're all alone up here, barely anyone ever actually comes up here, it's not like we have anything to lose.

"Sure," I said softly. Wooyoung quietly shuffled over before pausing beside me.

"Is it ok if I rest my head in your lap, it's just spinning a little," he said quietly. I frowned in confusion, not understanding why he would want that from me but I just nodded and crossed my legs. It's not that big of an issue but it's not something I've ever done. Wooyoung was quick to shuffle even closer before lying down and resting his head in my lap. I tensed slightly, unsure what it would be like but I relaxed a bit too quickly, surprised by how comfortable and soothing it was. Wooyoung's head was a soft but warm weight and it didn't make me uncomfortable at all. Though it further reminded me just how unused to physical affection I am.

"I um, I'm not really used to physical contact," I admitted quietly. I was a bit nervous to admit something like that but given I've kept Wooyoung's secret, I'm sure he's going to keep mine. Wooyoung chuckled lightly and I glanced down to look him in the eyes, seeing him smiling softly.

"Well if you want, you can run your fingers through my hair," he whispered. I quickly dropped my hand down and placed in on his head, gently running my fingers through his hair and over his scalp. I watched in intrigue as Wooyoung relaxed and his eyes slipped closed. Is it really that relaxing? I quietly lifted my other hand up and pat my own head softly before realising what I did and stopping quickly. We stayed like that for a few minutes before I was the one to break the silence.

"Would you have regretted doing that stuff in the morning," I asked slowly.

"I already regret what I did do. You're right as usual," he said quietly. I frowned at that, glancing down at him worriedly but he still seemed relaxed. It went quiet again but I continued to run my fingers through his hair softly. After a little bit, I noticed how he had begun to shiver given he was wearing a t-shirt and the wind was blowing. I had the instinctive urge to scoff as I usually would but then I remembered about the hour and instead I chuckled lightly. His eyes slipped open and he pouted up at me again, his eyes twinkling slightly. I quickly untied my outer robes before placing them over Wooyoung as a blanket. It was then that I remembered what happened in the bathroom and it clicked in my mind.

"I never realised you were gay," I said quietly. I felt his entire body tense at that and it worried me but before I could do anything, he sat up quickly. He grabbed my robes and pulled them tighter around his body, looking down at the ground.

"Please don't tell anyone San, please don't spread it around the school," he begged me. Huh? What's so wrong about people finding out he's gay?

"I won't, I promise. But nothing would happen if I did," I pointed out but Wooyoung shook his head immediately.

"Being gay is bad," he whispered. That caught me off guard yet again.

"There's nothing wrong with being gay Wooyoung," I told him. Wooyoung suddenly lifted his head and looked back at me, seeming confused.

"Aren't you and your family against homosexuals," he asked me. What? I shook my head quickly at that.

"Wooyoung, I'm gay and so is Seonghwa. There isn't anything wrong with it, it isn't something you can change," I said. Wooyoung's eyes were wide and he seemed shock.

"Do your parents tell you being gay is wrong," I asked him.

"My dad has always been against being gay. He's always made that very clear," Wooyoung said with a sigh. That's horrible, making your own kid feel like they can't be themselves, making them scared to be themself. I reached my hand out and he quickly captured it in his own hand.

"I promise you there is nothing wrong with being gay. Have you told anyone," I asked him.

"Only my two best friends but we don't really talk about," he replied quietly.

"Yeosang and Yunho," I asked him and he nodded. I squeezed his hand softly and he relaxed more.

"Don't be ashamed of who you are alright, there isn't anything wrong with not liking girls," I said firmly. He seemed a bit nervous but he nodded and took a deep breath, visibly relaxing more.

"Thank you," he said quietly.

"Don't thank me, this is something you should be hearing a lot more," I told him. He smiled softly at that before nodding.

"How long do you think it's been," he asked me. I honestly don't really know how long it's been, surely not that long.

"We still have time," I said softly. He quickly shuffled back so he was against the wall beside me and we were both looking out at the stars.

"Green looks good on you by the way," I whispered. He scoffed and I could picture him rolling his eyes at me.

"I'd rather jump of this building than be sorted into Slytherin," he said.

"Uh, rude," I said.

"Sorry, not sorry," he giggled. I went to scoff at him but my mouth snapped shut as I felt a weight on my shoulder. I slowly glanced to the side and saw Wooyoung curled up to my side with his head on my shoulder, still wearing my Slytherin robes. I gently moved my arm back, knocking his head off my shoulder but I quickly wrapped it around his shoulders, placing his head back on my shoulder. He snuggled into my side once again and I just sat there patiently, letting him rest on me.

"Hey San," Wooyoung said suddenly.

"Yeah," I questioned.

"You said Seonghwa is gay right," he asked. I was confused at the question and a little cautious but I nodded slowly.

"Does he have a crush on Hongjoong," he asked bluntly. I burst out laughing at that, lifting my hand and patting his head softly.

"He is most definitely in love with him but he's in denial. Don't tell anyone though, no need to make it even more obvious," I said with a light chuckle. Wooyoung giggled lightly before letting out a yawn and I looked over at him worriedly.

"Are you tired," I asked him.

"Yeah a bit," he admitted quietly. I glanced down at him and noticed how he was struggling to blink his eyes open and realised he was crashing after consuming so much alcohol. It isn't anything bad, it's just once you've gotten past the high of it and start to settle down, you get a lot more tired and need to sleep.

"Come on, I'll take you back to your common room, we still have some time," I said gently. He nodded tiredly and I quickly stood up, pulling him to his feet. He stumbled slightly but thankfully this time it was because he was tired, not still really intoxicated. We walked quietly down the stairs before heading off towards the Gryffindor common room. We remained silent the whole time we were walking, almost making it without running into everyone but of course life wasn't on my side.

"San?" We both stopped and turned around to see Hongjoong and Seonghwa behind us. Seonghwa eyes went wide and I cursed myself internally. His eyes drifted between Wooyoung and I and that's when I realised what was even worse. Wooyoung still had my robes on. Wooyoung yawned again and rubbed his eyes tiredly. I desperately wanted to rip my robes off of him and tell him to get lost but I can't do that, not when he's like this. We had an hour and that hour isn't up.

"San, m'tired," Wooyoung whispered and I cringed. I was beginning to panic, not knowing what to do but my saviour came in the form the little Ravenclaw. Hongjoong moved forwards quickly and wrapped an arm around Wooyoung, rubbing his back softly.

"Come on, the three of us will take you back to your common room. Those robes look a bit big on you, why don't you try these," Hongjoong said. I quickly helped Wooyoung out of my robes and Hongjoong wrapped his around the younger and the four of us walked to the Gryffindor common room, dropping him off. Wooyoung gave Hongjoong back his robes before glancing at me and muttering a quick thanks as he went over to the portrait. Once he was gone, Seonghwa immediately spun around to me.

"I found him drunk in a bathroom with some Ravenclaw almost taking advantage of him. It doesn't matter how much I hate the filthy blood traitor, I wouldn't let him go through that," I said defensively.

"San," he said with a frown.

"I hate him Seonghwa, nothing has changed," I said quickly. Seonghwa went to say something but Hongjoong cut him off by slipping his hand into the others.

"I'm sorry that happened to him but thank you for looking after him. He's a good kid and he doesn't deserve that," Hongjoong said.

"I beg to differ on the good part," I scoffed. Hongjoong just smiled softly as he slipped his robes back on.

"I'm going to head up to bed, I'll see you tomorrow Hwa," Hongjoong said softly before walking off, leaving Seonghwa and I alone. Neither of us said anything, we just walked down to the Slytherin common room.

"Goodnight," he said quietly before heading off to his dormitory. I quickly went over to mine and got changed, noticing that the others were all already in bed. Once I was dressed, I went to lay down but I hesitated and instead just sat down on the edge of my bed. I placed my hands on my knees and gripped them tightly, letting out a breath as I thought about what happened. I was just looking after a fellow classmate who needed the help. As I was thinking about what happened, I found my mind drifting to Wooyoung's head in my lap, my hands in his hair, patting my head. I blinked quickly and shook my head, trying to get the thoughts away but I couldn't. I've never felt something like that, I've never gotten what Wooyoung seemed so accustomed to. I nibbled my lip nervously before taking a risk and standing up, quietly leaving the room. I padded across the common room and into the boys 7th year dormitory. I quietly walked over to the end bed and drew the curtain back, finding Seonghwa already lying down. He lifted his head up before frowning in confusion and sitting up slightly.

"What's up," he asked with a frown.

"How does it feel," I whispered.

"How does what feel Sannie," he asked quietly. I wasn't sure if I could continue or just back out but I really want to know so I continued.

"When you cuddle with Hongjoong," I said nervously. Seonghwa's face broke and he gently reached out to me.

"Do you want to see how it feels," he asked me softly. I nodded quickly and he shuffled over in an instantly, allowing me to crawl onto the bed. He laid down quickly and held out his arms.

"Come lay down with me," he whispered. I wasn't entirely sure how I was supposed to lay down or place myself so I just let Seonghwa tug me down.

"I don't know what to do," I whispered.

"I know that but it's ok," he replied softly. He gently moved me around until I was curled up beside him, my head on his shoulder and my hands curled up to his chest. He wrapped his arms around me tightly, holding me close. I was shocked from how comforting it felt, from how different it felt from anything I've ever had. I've hugged people before but only briefly. I clung tightly to Seonghwa's shirt, fisting it in my hands.

"This ok," Seonghwa asked me softly. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and I didn't know how to put it into words so I stayed quiet.

"Sannie, I need you to talk to me ok. Is this ok," Seonghwa asked worriedly.

"S'fine," I whispered.

"You a bit overwhelmed," he asked me. I nodded quickly into his shoulder, huddling closer.

"I'm sorry, I should have invited you to cuddle years ago," he whispered.

"It's ok. You only really do it with Hongjoong," I whispered.

"Yeah but that's because I'm comfortable with him. But you're the person I'm most comfortable with. The physical affection came from Hongjoong but I should have relayed it to you," he said with a sigh.

"Do people ever cuddle closer than this," I whispered.

"Yeah, you can lay on top of me if you want Sannie. There's no need to be nervous or worried, the bed has curtains so you just do what you're comfortable with," Seonghwa said softly.

"Can you help," I asked. If it was anyone other than Seonghwa, I would NEVER be doing this or acting like this. But this is Seonghwa, the person I've known my whole life who has always looked out for me. Seonghwa moved around and slipped his hands under my arms, grabbing either side of my body and lifting me up, pulling me over so I was quite literally laying on top of him.

"Now just cuddle down however you see fit," he told me. I was nervous and still a little confused but I rest my head back on his shoulder, nuzzling it into his neck and resting my arms on his chest.

"How's this feel? It ok," he asked and I quickly nodded into his neck.

"Do you want to stay like this tonight," he asked me.

"Yes please," I whispered.

"Ok, you just cuddle as much as you want. If you get overwhelmed or uncomfortable, just wake me up ok," he whispered. I nodded and let my eyes slip closed, feeling more comfortable than I ever have before. I was asleep before I could really process what was happening.
