Chapter 17: Sunday 25th of December

San's POV

"That was the best cake ever, though I don't know how I managed to stuff that much in," I said as I scooped in the last part of my piece.

"I know, we're going to be so fat after today," Wooyoung groaned, flopping back in his chair. We were still in the kitchens, sitting down by the table in the corner while the house elves begun prepping for dinner.

"I should really try not to eat too much during dinner," I said with a chuckle as I pat my stomach lightly.

"Please, all you're hitting right now is rock hard abs," Wooyoung said with a scoff. I chuckled lightly at that, the compliment making me happy but I could hear the underlining self-detriment behind Wooyoung's words.

"Nah, I'm all bloated right now. Look out you though, still looking in great shape," I said, nodding down to his stomach. He let out a pretty giggle and pat his stomach lightly.

"We can't really miss out on our big Christmas dinner though, that's just sad," Wooyoung said with a pout.

"That's true. Why don't we go and burn off some energy," I asked.

"And what exactly do you suggest," he asked as he stood up.

"Nothing better than some one on one quidditch match," I said, wiggling my eyebrows as he grinned.

"You're on, last one to the pitch is a rotten egg," he yelled as he rushed to the doorway. I quickly ran to follow him but stopped as Trixy popped up in front of me.

"Hey Trix," I said, scooping her up as usual.

"Sannie, that boy is pretty," she whispered.

"Oh uh, yeah. Yeah, I guess so," I said with a nod.

"Is he your boyfriend," she asked me.

"Oh god no. No, he doesn't see me that way. I mean I don't seem him that way either. We don't see each other that way. We're just friends and even then we're just getting back on our feet with our friendship. I hurt him, badly. He won't properly admit it, but it doesn't mean it isn't true, he's just too forgiving," I said with a sigh.

"Oh. But he seems to like you a lot Sannie," Trixy said with a frown.

"Yeah, we used to be best friends. It almost feels like the old times but we've got a lot to work on," I said with a sigh.

"I'm glad you're doing ok Sannie," she said with a happy smile that softened my heart.

"Thank you Trixy, it means a lot. You can stop by my dorm any time you want to say hello ok," I told her. She grabbed my shoulder and nodded happily.

"Great. Now listen, can you do me a favour," I asked her.

"Ooo. Yes, anything."

~~~~~
"How the hell did you get here before me?"
"I'm just faster than you," I said with a shrug as I pushed myself off the wall I was leaning against.
"You're lying. There was no way for you to have gotten here so much quicker than me, especially when I never saw you pass me," Wooyoung said with a frown as he crossed his arms over his chest. His eyes widened suddenly and a guilty smile slipped onto my face.
"You ass, you made one of the house elves apparate you here. You are such a sneaky little shit," Wooyoung said, slapping my shoulder as I chuckled.
"Hey, we never actually stated the rules. You didn't tell me I wasn't allowed to use the house elves," I said with a shrug.
"You are such a cheater," he said, shoving my shoulder. I stumbled slightly in the snow but managed to catch my footing.
"Again, no rules were clearly established," I chuckled.
"No wonder you're in Slytherin. You and your cunningness," he said with a pout.
"Hey, you could say I'm just resourceful," I said with a shrug.
"Nope, cheat," he said, shaking his head before walking off towards the lockers. I chuckled again and followed after him quickly.
"What do you want to do," I asked him and watching as he shrugged before humming quietly.
"Do you want to maybe bring out the snitch? We could have a competition to see who can catch it first? Loser has to buy the other something from Hogsmede next time we go there," he suggested. Oh it's so on.
"Deal," I said with a nod. We got out the equipment we needed, grabbing the brooms from our lockers and headed back out onto the pitch. I glanced over at Wooyoung as he was opening the box that had all of the balls, noticing the slight shaking of his form. We were both wearing our sweaters but I had slipped on my robes for warmth while Wooyoung didn't. It worried me to see him shivering so much already so I quickly rushed back to my locker and grabbed out my scarf before returning. I jogged over to Wooyoung and leant down, wrapping the scarf around his neck to give him some extra warmth. He jolted slightly at the contact, his head tilting up to glance at me with wide eyes.
"I don't want you getting a cold," I told him. He chuckled at that, shaking his head slightly.
"Thanks. Though I'm not a big fan of the colours," he said with a huff and I laughed.
"I personally think that you look very nice in green and silver," I said with a shrug. He smiled softly before looking back down and finally managing to pull out the snitch, holding it in his hand.
"Now you're just being a suck up. Trying to win brownie points so I'll go easy on your financials when I beat you," he taunted.
"You wish Jung," I said with a smirk. He opened his hand and we both watched as the snitch flew out from it and fluttered away, out of our sight. We both flung out legs over our brooms and kicked off into the air.
"Are you ready to be beaten like usual Choi," he asked me. I rolled my eyes at his cockiness and shook my head. He be as confident as he wants but the fact of the matter is I can still fly rings around him.
"Ready to kick your ass, yeah," I said with a nod. Wooyoung counted down from three and then the two of us took off in different directions, searching around the pitch slowly.
~~~~~

"Seriously, how do the seekers do this," Wooyoung whined. We had been searching the pitch for 30 minutes but there still wasn't a single sighting of the snitch from either of us and it was started to make me bored. It seems it was also beginning to make Wooyoung bored as well.

"I could never last being a seeker. That's why I love being a chaser, we get to be in all of the action the whole game, not just hovering somewhere not doing anything," I said with a sigh.

"How have we not even seen it once? I feel like it's just deliberately not letting us see it. I'm freezing my ass off here," Wooyoung complained. I glanced over to where he was flying a few metres away from me, noticing he was once again shivering. I sighed and flew over to him, pulling my broom up beside him. He glanced over me, his eyes showing confusion. I made sure my broom was stable and I had good balance before I let go of it. Wooyoung yelped and quickly grabbed my broom with one of his hands to make sure it was stable. I smiled softly at the action, happy he was looking out for me though I knew I would be fine to keep my balance. I quickly untied my robes and shrugged it off. I leant towards Wooyoung who was still holding both of our brooms and I laid it gently over his shoulders.

"What're you doing," he asked me.

"What does it look like? I'm giving you my robes so you don't freeze to death," I told him. He raised an eyebrow at me and didn't move, even as I pulled back and grabbed my broom again.

"Here, I'll hold your broom and you can put your arms through the sleeves," I told him.

"Aren't you just going to freeze now," he asked me.

"I'll be fine, I run warm naturally so you need it more," I told him.

"I mean sure, I love sleeping with you cos you're warm but still, it's really cold," Wooyoung pointed out. I went to reply but for some reason my face felt really warm. I quickly placed the back of one of my hands on my cheek, trying to cool it down.

"You ok," he asked me.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, shrugging it off.

"Put it on, I will be fine," I added quickly. He seemed apprehensive but complied nonetheless, slipping his arms into the sleeves.

"There we go, all snug and cosy," I said with a smile. I reached out and gently tugged the robes further around his body. He giggled and I instinctively reached up and ruffled his hair for some reason. He whined at that and ducked out of the way, patting his hair back into place.

"You're going to freeze," Wooyoung said.

"Better than you freezing," I replied with a shrug. He gave me an odd look before turning away and continuing to search. That kicked me into action and I quickly began searching as well. There is no way I'm going to lose to a Gryffindor again, absolutely no way. Sure, you could agrue he's basically more Slytherin than Gryffindor right now, what with the Slytherin robes and scarf but he's still a Gryffindor at heart so I will not lose to him!

~~~~~
It was another 20 minutes of us flying around aimlessly before finally, finally we saw it. It was just a small speck of gold glistening in near the stands but I saw it. Unfortunately, Wooyoung also seemed to have seen it as he flew forwards quickly as well. He started closer to the snitch than I was so I quickly spurred it onwards. The snitch went down, so we followed and I started to gain on Wooyoung, leaning almost completely flat on my broomstick to catch up. I was gaining on him quickly but then the snitch went down again, hovering just over the snow on the pitch. Wooyoung was quicker to go down but I followed a second after him. He stretched out his arm, the snitch just inches from his fingertips. I groaned in frustration before glancing down briefly and noting we were less than a metre above the ground. I very quickly analysed the risk before deciding to do the stupid thing and jump from my broom, colliding with Wooyoung and tackling him to the snow. If I don't catch it, then neither of us do. Despite the risk being low, I still managed to slip a hand over the back of his head in case it got knocked but I ended up landing first with Wooyoung on top of me. The ground was a little hard but it didn't hurt.
"Sannie, what the hell," Wooyoung cried out. He was laying on top of me but pressed his hand to the ground and pushed himself up so he was hovering above while looking at me.
"Are you stupid or something? We could have gotten hurt," he said, his brows drawn together in anger. Oh. I didn't expect him to get that mad about it, we weren't even that high above the ground when I did.
"Hey, I would never have let you get hurt," I said with a frown as I propped myself up slightly on my elbow. Wooyoung's mouth opened before he closed it again and his eyes flicked over me, an unreadable expression on his face. He was still hovering over me but now that I had propped myself up more, we were a lot closer together. He was still frowning slightly and I got worried.
"Wooyoung I promise I wouldn't have done something that I thought would potentially hurt you. We were close to the ground and I made sure to protect your head," I said quickly.
"Yeah no, I know that. It's fine," he said quietly, though the look didn't leave his face.
"Are you upset with me," I asked quietly and he shook his head immediately.
"No. I mean, I still caught the snitch," he said, the look finally replaced with a grin as he held up his free hand to show the snitch indeed clutched in it.
"You snooze, you lose," he said and I groaned, flopping back onto the snow and closing my eyes.
"Why," I whined, hearing him giggle above me.
"You did all that to stop me from getting it and yet I still caught it. Which means you have to buy me whatever I want from Hogsmede the next trip we go on," he said. I slipped my eyes back open, looking up at him lazily to see the grin on his face.
"Yeah, yeah, gloat all you want," I huffed.
"Aww, is someone being a sore loser? I won fair and square with no cheating like a certain someone," he said. I scoffed and rolled my eyes but didn't reply. For some reason I wasn't actually annoyed as I was expecting.
"What, cat got your tongue? I was expecting more resistance from you. Where has that Slytherin stubborness gone," he asked me, cocking his head to the side cutely. Well not cutely, just, just oddly. When he did that, a strand of hair fell down in front of his face. I frowned at the misplaced hair and it was annoying me so I quickly reached up and brushed it to the side, tucking it behind his ear. Wooyoung's eyes widened slightly and I frowned in confusion, wondering what had bothered him. He shifted a bit, no longer propping himself up on his hand but instead, laying his complete forearm along the ground. This caused him to fall closer, his body just barely hovering over mine. I panicked at that, moving quickly to get out from underneath him. It was clear that his arm was getting sore which caused him to move and would now make him uncomfortable. I don't want him getting uncomfortable around me again.
"Fine. You won fair and square, I concede. I will buy you whatever your heart desires when we go to Hogsmede next," I said with an exaggerated sigh. When I turned to glance at him, he was frowning but he smiled softly at my words.
"I'll hold you to that. Now come on, we should probably get back inside so you don't get hyperthermia," he said.
"Hypothermia," I corrected.
"Huh," he questioned in confusion.
"It's hypothermia, not hyperthermia. Hyper is caused by intense heat whereas hypo is by extreme cold," I explained. He scoffed and rolled his eyes at that.
"Of course you'd know the difference between like two letters," he said.
"I must keep you informed. Don't want you learning the wrong things and failing classes," I teased with a grin.
"I'm not failing any classes," he said with a frown.
"Not yet," I replied with a shrug.
"You're insufferable, you know that right," he told me.
"You wound me," I replied. We finally moved into action, putting away all the equipment we had pulled out and leaving the pitch.
"What should we do now? We still have time until dinner," Wooyoung said.
"We can do presents now I guess," I said with a shrug.
"Oh yeah, I guess that could be fun," Wooyoung said with a nod. We started walking back to the castle, more like trekking as the snow was quite deep. I keep my arm hovering over Wooyoung's back as I walked behind him to make sure he didn't fall. Something felt a little odd, as if we were being watched so I looked out towards the forest before freezing. It was there again, the thestral. It had a haunting, ghostly look, all black with tight skin so it looked dead, like it was just skin and bone. I froze in fear, my eyes trained to the animal as it took a few steps away from the tree line and out into the open. It felt like it was looking at me, as if it knew I could see it and it knew what I had seen, what I hadn't stopped.
"-An. SAN." I jumped in surprise as my view was suddenly blocked by Wooyoung's face, a frown of concern on it.
"Hey, you ok? You just suddenly stopped walking and wouldn't reply when I called your name," he said. I shifted slightly to glance behind him where I was looking earlier but the thestral was no longer there.
"Yeah no I'm fine," I said quietly, shaking off the bad feeling I always got when I saw a thestral. Wooyoung turned around, looking around for a bit before turning back to me.
"What are you looking for," he asked me.
"Nothing, it's fine," I replied. I blinked quickly and looked away from the forest completely. I went to turn and continue towards the castle but Wooyoung's hand shot out, grabbing my wrist to stop me.
"Hey, you can talk to me. You know that right," he said softly.
"It's really nothing," I told him.
"It doesn't seem like nothing. You went really pale," he said softly. I sighed, realising he probably wasn't going to let it go.
"There was a thestral, over by the forest," I said quietly. His face softened at that and he stepped forwards, enveloping me in a tight hug. I tensed up at first, not expecting it and not really knowing what to do but I found myself relaxing after a few seconds as it really was comforting. I hesitated for a second before wrapping my arms tightly around him and burying my head into the juncture between his neck and shoulder. I breathed out deeply, sagging into his arms. It worried me to have him with that much of my weight against him but he didn't seem to mind, just continued to hold me. It felt weird and slightly unnatural to me to be hugging so freely an out in the open but if felt too nice for me to care.
"It's ok," he whispered and I felt an involuntary smile slip onto my face.
"I know Youngie, it just unsettles me," I replied softly.
"Come on, you're face is getting a bit cold," Wooyoung said, pulling back and stepping away. I nodded and began walking, faltering slightly as Wooyoung slipped his hand into mine. I wasn't sure what to do so I just held onto his hand gently and didn't draw attention to it. Seonghwa wanted me to be here for him over the break so I will do that, that's the only reason why I'm allowing this right now. It was good though as it seemed like the heat from his hand was seeping into my body and I wasn't feeling as cold.
~~~~~

I watched with my stomach churning uncomfortably as Wooyoung sat down beside me in the common room and placed his presents beside mine. There were only five of them compared to the about twenty that I had. He paused and his eyes glanced over my pile. I could see the sadness in them but he masked it with a smile.

"Wow San, didn't realise you had so many friends. I thought a constipated grump like you would for sure not have many friends," he said with a chuckle, making me smile weakly.

"To be fair, most of them are just from family members that I barely know and certainly don't like. They just give them to me out of obligation, not love," I said, trying to cheer him up a little.

"Well I got mine from the guys and then mum. It says from mum and dad but it's obvious it's just from mum. Dad wouldn't care," he said with a shrug.

"Do you want to open one first," I asked him.

"You have so many more than me, you should open a few first," he replied. I glanced at my pile and then back at his and my stomach twisted uncomfortably.

"Why don't we open mine together? I'm not a big fan of Christmas anyway," I said as I grabbed a present and held it out to him. His eyes lit up immediately as he grabbed it.

"Really," he asked.

"Yeah, really," I said with a nod, grabbing another and beginning to open it. Wooyoung followed quickly, eagerly tearing the paper off the present. The present in my hand was a book from a famous author while the one in Wooyoung's hands was a polisher for my broomstick.

"Oh my god, I love that book," Wooyoung gasped as he saw what I was holding. I rose an eyebrow but held it up to him and he seemed to grab it without thought, flipping through the pages with starry eyes.

"I don't really read books," I told him.

"Why not? They're so good. This is the fourth book in a series of books and this only came out like a few months ago," Wooyoung said.

"You keep it," I said, making him gasp. I wasn't lying, I don't read so I won't even use the book anyway.

"You're shitting me right," he said.

"No, I'm really not. I don't read at all, I don't even know why they got it for me other than to just flash their money," I said with a shrug.

"You're joking," he said and I shook my head. I yelped as he suddenly launched himself at me, tackling me into a hug. I would have fallen onto my back but I managed to brace myself with my arm. His entire body had been launched onto mine, his legs wrapping around my waist and his arms wrapping around my neck. I had one arm braced behind me to keep us up but I wrapped the other arm gently around his back. It was going to be very awkward if a Slytherin came into the common room right now but I haven't seen many that actually stayed for break. It was quiet for a bit as Wooyoung just clung to me and cuddled up in my arms but I didn't say anything, not really knowing what to do in this situation. After a few minutes he finally pulled back slightly though he was still sat in my lap. I was concerned when I noticed a few tears had slid down his face. I sat up properly and cupped his face, wiping away the tears quickly.

"What's wrong," I asked worriedly.

"Nothing, just happy," he said softly. His head tilted slightly, his cheek nuzzling into my hand as his eyes slipped closed. I was shocked, not knowing what to do but I don't think I would be able to do anything anyway as I felt, mesmerized. His face was so close to mine, so relaxed that I felt I could count the eyelashes on his eyelids. My thumb slipped up and I ran it delicately over the mole under his eye, my own eyes tracing over his face properly.

"You have a mole on your lip," I said quietly, making his eyes slip open half-lidded.

"Yeah," he whispered, sounding a little breathless.

"It's pretty," I said with a hum, moving my thumb down to run it over his bottom lip gently, brushing over his mole. I jolted out of whatever weird trance I had fallen into when I realised what I was doing and I hastily pulled my hand away.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry," I said, moving to push him off my lap but his hands suddenly shot out and gripped my wrists to stop me.

"It's fine San, I don't mind," he said. I stopped struggling at that, frowning in confusion.

"You're not, uncomfortable," I questioned slowly and he shook his head.

"Is that why you always pull away whenever we get close? Cos you think it makes me uncomfortable," he asked me.

"I mean yeah... It doesn't," I asked in confusion.

"No, not at all. I'm comfortable with you San, you make me feel safe with how you care for me. I like being close to you," he said quietly, his cheeks heating up slightly.

"It doesn't feel weird to you? I'm sorry, I'm just not used to having people so close, I don't know the normal," I admitted nervously.

"That's ok. If I'm ever uncomfortable with something, I'll tell you," he said.

"Oh, ok," I said with a nod. It takes a bit of pressure off my shoulders to know he will tell me if I do something wrong.

"And, I'd hope that if I was to do something that made you feel uncomfortable, you would tell me as well," he said slowly and I nodded immediately. He smiled softly at that before draping his arms back over my shoulder, crossing his wrists over behind my head. In my earlier movements, he had moved his legs from being wrapped around my waist to be kneeling with a leg on either side of my body as he sat on my lap. He braced his arms behind my head and pulled himself closer, making us basically chest to chest. I gasped quietly in surprise, my hands slipping down to hold his hips as I wasn't sure what else to do with them.

"This uncomfortable," he murmured softly. I swallowed dryly but shook my head quickly, still unsure what to do. He shifted a little closer, his face hovering near mine and my grip tightened on his hips. What exactly is he doing?

"Still comfortable," he whispered.

"Yeah," I breathed out, quickly clearing my throat afterwards. A small smile graced his lips and my gaze dropped down to the mole on his bottom lip.

"Good," he said softly before leaning forwards. I was frozen, unable to move as I didn't know what to do but I felt him place a brief kiss to my cheek before he stood up.

"Now come on, we've got lots of presents to unwrap," he said with a giggle as he bounded back over to the pile, leaving me to let out a breath I didn't realise I had been holding, my heart racing in my chest. What just happened?

~~~~~
It took us about an hour to get through all of the presents, on account of Wooyoung stopped to admire every single one. I ended up telling him he could have half of mine as I wouldn't ever use them anyway. He refused at first but after some insistence from me, he relented and I could see how happy it made him. He had a few thoughtful gifts from the boys and it made me envious. I may get more gifts than him but none of them are thoughtful or full of love. They're just from people who know my parents and feel obligated to give me something. Apart from Seonghwa's gift which was a custom made figure of me riding my broomstick which I thought was awesome.
"This has been such a fun Christmas. I actually um, I got something for you. I wasn't sure if we were doing that but you got me this for my birthday so I thought I would get you something for Christmas," Wooyoung said, fiddling nervously with the necklace. I had noticed that he wore the necklace often and it made me quite happy to know he liked it. I also was surprised he had bought me something.
"Now it's not much, we don't really have a lot of money with trying to help my mum but I still wanted to get you something," he said quietly as he held out a small present.
"The money doesn't matter, it's the thought that counts," I said immediately, making him smile. I unwrapped the present to find a small box. I slipped it open and my eyes widened as I saw the bracelet inside. It was leather and seemed to have been woven together delicately with a pendant in the middle with my initials.
"I'm sorry, it isn't much bu-."
"I love it," I said, cutting him off as I wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug.
"It's perfect," I added in a whisper before pulling away.
"Really? I was worried you wouldn't like it," he said, smiling happily.
"Well I do. Can you put it on for me," I asked him. He shuffled forwards eagerly and grabbed it from the box, wrapping it around my left wrist and clasping it gently.
"There. What do you think," he asked me. I lifted my arm up and looked down at my wrist.
"It's beautiful, thank you Youngie. I think this may be my favourite present," I said honestly.
"Really," he asked in surprise.
"Over Seonghwa's," he added.
"Yeah, but don't tell Hwa or he'll be all pouty," I told him. His smile widened but he nodded.
"I actually also got you something but it's nothing to compare to what you got me," I admitted in embarrassment.
"I don't care if you think it compares or not. Anything from you is a great gift," he said and that made me feel a bit better about the gift, though not much. I reached behind me and sheepishly pulled out the box of chocolate frogs I had wrapped in a bow and handed it to him. He unwrapped it quickly and his face lit up.
"I love chocolate frogs. What do you mean this doen't compare, this is great," he said happily, making me chuckle.
"Well I'm glad you like them," I said.
"I love them, I'm going to have some now," he said.
"Why don't you leave it for later. The feast will be happening soon and you don't want to spoil your appetite," I said.
"True. I'll save them for after. We can lay down on my bed and watch a movie on my laptop while we eat some chocolate frogs," he said, jumping up quickly. A what on a what?
"What's a laptop," I asked in confusion.
"I'll explain latter, come on," he said with a giggle as he grabbed my hand and yanked me up. I wasn't sure what he was doing but I found myself following him anyway, my heart lifting at the sound of his giggles.
