Chapter-6:Caught in trouble
“Sanskar , get a grip, you messed up sixth time in the past half an hour” the director of their unit turned to him.
Sanskar swept the sweat from his forehead, practicing a particular scene for hours. They were shooting relentlessly lately, usually till late night. Sanskar hasn’t properly seen Swara for at least a week.
“Yeah, sir, I get it, sorry” Sanskar sighed, resisting an urge to roll his eyes.
He could feel the stress bubbling inside him, he knew it was coming, he was reaching his breaking point and he was worried when it happens.
The last thing he wanted was to come home and take it on Swara after not speaking to her for days.
He really didn’t want their first interaction to be a fight where he’d scream horrible things on her. But it looked like it was going to come soon.
“Serious, Sanskar , try to focus”
“I am trying to focus but it’d be much easier if we got a freaking break, sir!” Sanskar exclaimed, glaring at the Director.
Sahil, a close friend of him, eyed him warily. He’s seen couple of his outbursts to know what is up.
“This is what you signed up for so don’t complain” that Director replied back.
“Yeah, well, it’d be easier if you weren’t such a shithead!” Sanskar snapped back.
Half of the crew gasped in surprise because they have never seen Sanskar like this, everyone knew him as a sweet guy. The other half of the crew was silently agreeing with him but no one said anything.
“Okay, I think we could take a short break, sir” Sahil jumped in when he saw the director opening his mouth.
He’s been in the crew for a while and he had respect so the director nodded and gave everyone ten minutes break.
“Come on, Sanskar, you don’t really wanna lose it here in front of everyone” Sahil grabbed the Sanskar’s elbow, dragging him from the studio.
“Don’t freaking tell me what to do” Sanskar talked back.
“So stop acting like an idiot!” Sahil shot back. He didn’t really mean it but he knew it will rile Sanskar up even more and that he will transfer his anger towards him and follow him. It worked, they walked out to an empty corridor.
“I think you should just go home, we will be finished in a while anyway” Sahil said when they were alone.
“You could use some rest, maybe you could take the whole day off tomorrow.”
“I don’t need a rest, stop treating me like a weak child!” the younger exclaimed.
“Go home, Sanskar ” Sahil looked at him pointedly.
There was never really a right way to treat Sanskar. When he had one of his episodes, anything could make him angry and they just had to endure it but when he told them about the disorder more than a year ago, they all promised to be by his side and help him no matter what.
“Fine,” Sanskar grunted, marching away from Sahil without another word. He made it to a parking lot quickly, sitting down in his car and driving away. Somewhere deep down he knew that he shouldn’t be driving in this state but that voice was completely pushed down.
His fingers were drumming against the steering wheel. The streets were thankfully pretty empty since it was almost midnight.
He had an urge to drive as fast as he could but he saw glimpses of Swara's worried face in front of his eyes so he was focusing on getting to his wife safely.
“Ah, for fuck sake!” Sanskar cursed when he saw few police officers stopping his car. He felt frustration bubbling in him but he forced himself to pull up.
“Good evening, sir” a policeman greeted him when he pulled down the window.
“What happened, officer? I wasn’t driving over the speed limit” Sanskar got out through gritted teeth.
“It’s just a routine check up, sir, please hand me your documents”
“That’s my shitty luck” Sanskar sighed angrily, pulling out a driving licence from his wallet and rummaging through a small cabinet for other documents.
“Did you say something, sir?” the policeman looked at him pointedly when he took the documents.
“I just think that you should be chasing criminals instead of bothering decent people,”
“Sir, calm down,” the man frowned, when he saw Sanskar's rude expression.
“I had a really bad day, don’t tell me to calm down!” Sanskar exclaimed.
“Sir, did you have any alcohol or drugs?”
“What? No!” Sanskar rolled his eyes.
“Sir, please, get out of the car,”
“Why? I didn’t do anything! Leave me alone damnit!” he snapped.
“Leave the car, sir,” the policeman ordered. Sanskar opened the door rapidly, nearly hitting the officer.
“Please, blow in it” the officer handed him the tester.
“I am not freaking doing it!” Sanskar snapped, smacking the tester out of the man’s hand.
