Drunk Magik
Stephen's PoV -
I sit at the bar drinking a martini with my husband, Tony. Tony sips on a whiskey. We're both very drunk and laughing together. I might be slightly more drunk than Tony due to his tolerance. I'm not used to this, I haven't been drunk in years. Regardless, the drinks take away the pain in my hands so I keep drinking. Soon enough the bar is closing and Tony and I leave. We slightly stumble on our way out. Cloak helps keep me stable and I keep my husband safe. Tony calls a ride and was stand in front of the bar waiting on Happy. Normally, I would just portal us home but my magic is very diminished when I'm drunk. I feel weak without being in full control of my magic but the alcohol is so soothing so I don't mind much. I'm cuddling Tony and flirting with him while waiting on our ride. "Do you know how handsome you are?" I ask Tony while trailing my index finger along his face. He's so gorgeous.
"Well aren't you flirty tonight. I believe you've told me a time or two, cutie pie," Tony flirts back and I peck his lips.
I'm plastering kisses along my husband's neck when a loud explosion sounds from behind us. I quickly stop my flirting and cloak forms around me. I use my magic to transform back into my sorcerer robes. Realizing I had to concentrate stronger than usual to conjure that tiny bit of magic. Behind us, a ginormous blue spider with thousands of eyes climbs a tall skyscraper. Screams echo from nearby as it terrorizes citizens. "I guess that's our cue," I state.
"Are you okay to go, Stephen? You're pretty drunk and you always say your magic is hindered when you drink," Tony seems worried about me.
"I'm just buzzed. I'll be fine," I try to comfort my husband.
Tony nods seemingly satisfied with my answer. With that, he double taps his arc reactor and his suit forms around him. Together we fly over to the inter-dimensional threat. Our first mission is keeping civilians safe. Tony and I work to clear civilians from the area that is currently under attack. Tony clears people from the skyscraper and I clear people from the ground and streets below.
There's too many people to get to safety and the giant intergalactic spider is gaining ground and hurting people. I form a protective barrier above the civilian's heads. A large piece of debris hits the force field shattering it. Luckily the shield caused the debris to disappear but my magic faltered nonetheless. I quickly form another force field, concentrating more on the act this time. However, the deeper concentration and my foggy senses left me open to attack. The spider kicks me with one of its many legs sending me flying into the skyscraper. Glass shatters behind me. Cloak helps steady me and partially breaks the impact. Ouch.
I need to get to Tony. I must make sure my husband is safe. Still dazed but with cloak's assistance I fly up to my lover who currently bombardes the giant spider with lasers. "Stephen, we need to portal this spider away! Are you up to it?" Tony states.
"I think so," I begin my concentration. This is a big act of magic and is quite taxing normally more or less when I'm intoxicated.
I cast my spell and a large orange portal to the dark dimension opens. "I can't hold it for long," the sides of the portal is already starting to cave in on itself.
Tony attacks the spider with all his might but the spider scarcely budges. I need to do more than just hold the portal. With one hand I work diligently to hold the portal and with the other I cast a strong projectile spell sending the spider into the portal. I quickly seal the portal. Immediately after the magic takes its tole on me. My vision blurs and I fall to the ground.
Tony's PoV -
After sealing the spider I don't have time to congratulate my husband before he's falling from the sky. The cloak works to slow his fall but is unable to carry my lover's full weight while passed out. I quickly launch myself towards my husband and scarcely manage to catch him before he hits the ground. I hold my unconscious lover in my arms. Concerned citizens gather around us but I ignore them and quickly fly to the compound.
The other Avengers are asleep by now. I walk through the dark living room and down the hallway to Stephen and my bedroom. I gently lay my husband down on our bed. I check his pulse and breathing. Everything seems normal. He just used to much magic. Stephen's magic takes a physical toll on him causing him pain and tiredness. It only makes sense that this would be heightened while drunk. I gently tuck my lover into our bed and crawl in beside him. I gently place a kiss on his forehead before I cuddle into him and fall asleep.
