Field Trip

AN: One part of this I found on Pinterest and I don't know who came up with it. It's just a small bit towards the end but everything else is all original.

And don't be a silent reader. Leave your comments. I love reading them. Also don't forget to share!

===============================

Most people would be thrilled at the opportunity to visit the Avengers Compound. However, Peter Parker is different than most. Seeing as he spends almost every weekend at the Compound working with Tony Stark and the other Avengers, the compound won’t be anything new to Peter.

Ned however, was freaking out. As soon as they announced that the Academic Decathlon team would be going on a trip to the compound, Ned went into full freak out mode. He continued to rant and ask random questions. Peter honestly didn’t get why he was so excited. Ned had been to the compound with Peter once or twice to work on school project and things for the science fair so he had already seen everything.

Peter’s already met all of the Avengers of course. One year After the battle in Germany, the Avengers became a team again. The Sokovia accords were amended to reach a compromise between them all, and now things were better than ever. After Peter defeated the vulture, Tony Stark took him under his wing and began to be a true mentor to Peter.

“This is so Cool!” Ned says for the millionth time.

“Maybe for you.” Peter mumbles under his breath.

“I heard that. Honestly, Why are you so against this trip?” Ned asks.

“Because. What if we’re on the tour and Mr. Stark sees me? Or Clint, or Sam, or-”

“So what if they see you, man? Maybe then you can prove Flash wrong.”

“No, Ned you don’t get it. They would embarrass me just to get a kick out of it. And you know I don’t like being in the spotlight.” Ned simply nods in agreement as they leave Decathlon Practice.

“What’s wrong Parker? Afraid we’re going to find out the truth?” This stops Peter mid step. Why today?

“Leave us alone Flash.” Peter replies, trying his best to keep his cool.

“Why? You and Fatty have nothing better to do.” Ned tries to act as if Flash's words don’t bother him, but Peter can clearly see the hurt in his best friends eyes.

“Flash, I said leave us alone.” Flash grabs Peter by his shirt and slams him into the wall.

“No. You’re a liar. And come Monday, everyone will know you’re just a pathetic no one.” He lets Peter go and walks down the hall, out of sight.

“Dude, why do you deal with that?” Ned asks. “You’re Spiderman. You could throw him across the room without trying.”

“Spiderman can, but Peter Parker can’t. People would be suspicious to say the least.”

“True. I have to go, but I’ll see you later.” With that said Ned walks in the opposite direction towards his Mom’s car, leaving Peter standing in the school parking lot. Peter looks around for his Aunt, but she’s nowhere in sight. Instead, he sees none other than Happy Hogan leaning against a car. Peter makes his way over to where he’s waiting .

“Not that I’m not Happy (see what I did there...) to see you or anything, but what are you doing here?” Peter asks. “I thought I was spending this weekend with my Aunt May.”

“Boss has cleared it with her, and You’re coming upstate this weekend. Get in the car.” Happy slides into the driver's seat as Peter takes his seat in the back without complaint. He sends a quick text to May letting her know that he’s with Happy before allowing himself to relax.

When they Finally reach the compound Peter grabs his backpack and dashes to the front doors, Happy trailing behind him. When he gets to the front door he digs his security Pass from his bag and scans it through. He’ll never admit it, but the feeling is the same every time he walks through the front door.

He’s just a small kid from Queens, and somehow he found company with the Avengers. It’s unbelievable.

The first thing he sees when he walks in is an annoyed Pepper Potts talking rapidly on the phone. Not wanting to interrupt her conversation, Peter walks on to the elevator. He’s greeted by FRIDAY, Mr. Starks AI.

“Hello Peter.”

“Hey Fri. What’s Mr. Stark Doing right now?”

“He’s in Lab 12. Shall I alert him to your arrival?”

“No, that’s okay. Just take me there.” He waits patiently as the elevator takes him to the labs and science division of the compound. Walking to Lab 12, the permission slip feels heavy in his hands.

There are so many things that could go wrong on this trip. Flash could say something embarrassing in front of everyone, or the Avengers could embarrass him in front of everyone. Either way, he’s sure that it won’t end well.

Peter’s so lost in thought that he nearly misses the door to Lab 12. He can hear the Music playing when he walks in and it’s too loud for his sensitive hearing, giving Peter a headache.

“Mr. Stark, Peter is here.” FRIDAY’s voice comes through the speakers. Seconds later, the music is turned off and Tony’s voice come’s from somewhere in the room.

“Hey kid, I’m back here.” Peter follows his voice and finds him in the back, working on his Ironman suit.

“Hey Mr.Stark. What’re you doing?”

“Well actually I was waiting on you. Did you bring your Spidey Suit?”

“Uh...yeah. Why?”

“Time for some upgrades. And I called your Aunt. She said I could keep you here until Monday.”

“Monday?” Peter asks.

“Yeah. I have some stuff for you to work on.” Peter nods silently before taking his seat next to Tony. He lays his Permission slip on the table as he reaches to get his Suit out of his bag, and hopes that maybe Tony doesn’t notice. However, Peter’s never that lucky.

“What’s this?” Tony picks up the Paper and reads through it silently.

“A permission slip. The Decathlon team is taking a tour of the compound on Monday. I needed Aunt May to sign it, but it’s fine. I’m here a lot anyway so I don’t have to-”

“Will you get to miss class for this?” Tony asks randomly, interrupting Peter’s nervous rant.

“Well yeah.” Peter replies, unsure of where this is going.

“Do you want to miss class?”

“Well sure. Ned’s going to be there. Or here. But you don’t have to sign it. It’s fine.” Peter’s words fall on deaf ears as Tony picks up a pen from his desk and signs the Paper and hands it back to Peter. Neither one says anything else as Peter puts the Paper away and they get to work.

-----------------------------------------------

****TIME SKIP TO MONDAY****

Peter steps out of the car and closes the door behind him. After Happy’s gone, Peter makes his way to the buses that are waiting along with the rest of his team. Ned meets him halfway and they start  usual conversation. Today’s topic of conversation is mainly Ned ranting (again) About how excited he is for the trip.

When they reach the buses, Mr. Harrison begins collecting Permission slips as they board the bus in a single file line. Peter didn’t really see the point in driving to the school just to be taken back to the compound, but if he wanted credit for today’s class time then he had to be there.

“Peter? Where’s your Permission slip?” Mr. Harrison asks. Peter hands it over and takes in his teachers reaction to the signature on the paper. He motions for Ned to board the bus before pulling Peter aside.

“Peter, this is getting a little out of hand. I understand that you thing lying about this whole thing makes you seem cool. But it’s going a step to far. Faking his signature?”

“It’s not-”

“Just get on the bus Peter. We can discuss this Later.” Peter boards the bus without another word. He can’t believe it. Even his teacher thinks he’s a liar. They have no idea that he’s telling the truth, and they basically think he’s an idiot. Maybe this trip won’t be that bad. Maybe they can see that he’s telling the truth.

By the time they get to the Compound, Peter is ready to leave. They’re almost to the doors when Flash comes behind Peter and starts being… Flash.

“Hey, Peter! You ready to be exposed! This is gonna be great.” Flash shoves past him and through the front doors where their tour guide is waiting.

Their tour guide is a girl named Mallory, an intern that Peter’s worked with a few times before. Peter hopes that she won’t recognize him, but Parker Luck never fails him. She gives him a small wave before turning to the rest of the group.

“Okay everyone, I’m Mallory. I’ll be your guide today as we look at the Avengers Compound, home to Earth's mightiest Heroes. What I’m giving you now is a Level One security badge that will allow you access to the basic areas for the tour. These give you Limited access and will be canceled once you leave this building.” She hands around badges to everyone but Peter, and of course Flash notices.

“Excuse me, Miss? Parker didn’t get one.”

“Well that’s because he didn’t need one. Peter you have your badge, right? We don’t want a repeat of last time.” Peter lifts his badge to show her before hanging the lanyard around his neck.

“What happened last time?” Ned asks.

“I lost my badge. Mr. Stark locked me out to teach me a lesson. I didn’t get to visit the lab for a week.” Ned nods in understanding before they follow they're class, standing towards the back.

They file single file through security, each time having they're name and security level called. It isn’t until it’s Peter’s turn that he realizes that FRIDAY doesn’t know that he wants to keep quiet. It’s too late, and Peter makes his way through. Peter scans his badge, and the AI speaks.

“Peter Parker, Clearance Level 10. Welcome back Peter! Shall I alert Boss of your arrival?”

“No, it’s okay Fri. It’s fine.” Peter walks through, trying to ignore the stares from his fellow classmates. He can feel Flash glaring at him from behind, hate radiating off him.

He walks up to Peter, hoping to save his own Pathetic reputation. He can’t let Parker be better than him. That’s not how it’s supposed
to be.

“Hey Parker!” Peter turns around, mentally preparing himself for the worst.

“How’d you do it?”

“Excuse me?”

“How did you hack the AI? And how did you get a badge? I bet you stole it.”

“Leave me alone Flash. I told you, I’m an intern here.” Peter said with a sigh. Would Flash ever learn? Why wouldn’t he leave him alone.

“Yeah, and I’m Spiderman.” Is Flash’s sarcastic reply. It honestly doesn’t bother Peter all that much, but Ned looks furious.

“Flash you have no idea-” Peter pulls him away before he can say anything stupid. Mallory gives them both a curious glance before continuing with her little speech.

“Okay, so first we’re going to visit the science Labs and see what the geniuses at Stark have been working on. Follow me.”

The labs are filled with interns and scientists alike, comparing test results and trying new things. Peter’s familiar with all of this and even though it’s not as awesome as his personal Lab, it’s still pretty impressive.

So far, he’s been left alone and no one else has seen him. All he can do is Pray that it stays this way. Of course, Parker Luck never makes things easy.

“Next, we will meet our leading scientist Dr. Bruce Banner.” Peter snaps to attention to see Bruce walking through the door, his eyes scanning the group of teens.

“Hello everyone. I’m Dr. Banner, as you all probably know. What school are you from?”

“Midtown School of Science and Technology. This is the Decathlon team that won Nationals.” Mr. Harrison replies.

“Midtown?” Mr. Harrison nods as Bruce looks through the group of students a second time, this time looking for someone specific. “Peter, where are you?”

Peter doesn’t have to say a word Because instantly all eyes are on him.

“Hey, Dr. Banner.” Peter says quietly.

“Dr. Banner? What happened to ‘Uncle Bruce’” Banner asks. The students around them begin whispering, all except for Flash. Flash decides to be...well, Flash.

“You know Puny Parker?” Flash asks. Bruce glared in Flash's direction, and for a second Peter thinks the other guy might make an appearance. Peter sends him a look, telling him to drop it for now and after a minute both Peter and Bruce relax a little, moving on from the 'Puny Parker' comment for the moment.

“Well yeah. He’s one of the brightest people I know. He helps in most projects, including the avengers weapons and equipment. Right Pete?”

“Uh...yeah. Yeah that’s right.” Peter looks down and puts his hands in his pockets. All eyes are on him, and he’s hating it.

“Why don’t we show them what you’re working on?”

“No! No, Uncle Bruce it’s fine. They probably don’t want to see it. It’s really-”

“Peter Parker is currently working on new Designs for Spiderman’s WebShooters. Follow me.” The entire group follows Banner through the lab until they reach a desplay in the back of the room. Bruce picks up the new prototype webshooters and hands them over to Peter. “Come on Pete. Give us a demonstration.”

Peter hesitantly takes the new webshooters and holds it up for others to see.

“Okay, so these webshooters have over 300 different web combinations. These range from a normal Web to a corrosive web that can eat through certain metals for when Spidey’s in a tough situation.”

“That’s great. Brilliant. But we have to go, we’re already running behind.” Mallory says. Peter nods greatfully and puts the Webshooters back on the shelf.

After waving goodbye to Bruce, he follows the rest of his class. “Okay, our Next stop is the Avenger’s Museum and than we break for lunch. After that, it’s the training room and a Q&A with some special people.”

When they reach the Museum, Mallory allows them to roam freely for 30 minutes before they have to leave. Peter takes this opportunity to learn a little
more about his fellow Avengers, or at least he wants to. His learning is interupted by Ned, who litterally drags him to another display.

“You have your own display man. Check it out.” They stop in front of a Glass case, filled with Spiderman’s original suits and gadgets. His first ‘Suit’ and his original webshooters are in there along with a card that tells a little about him.

Spiderman-

1.) Spiderman is actually afraid of spiders

2.) He’s The Youngest Avenger

3.) He’s got the biggest heart and is always looking out for the little guy.

As Mallory leads them out of the room, Peter is still smiling. This might just be the best part of his day.

Everyone’s sitting in the Giant Cafeteria during lunch, eating whatever they brought from home. And of course, Peter forgot his. Peter is sure that if he texted someone they would bring him something to eat, but that only draws attention to him. But with his enhanced metabolism, he’s starving. His stomach is running on empty and he needs something to eat.

He thinks he’s made a decision when none other than Wanda Maximoff (aka, the Scarlet Witch) Comes through the doors . The entire Cafeteria goes silent as she searches for Peter.

When she finally finds him, he’s practically trying to hide under the table. She walks over to him and sits down in front of him.

“Little Brother, you’re terrible at hiding.” She says, her sokovian accent stronger and cooler than ever.

“H-Hey Wanda.” he says, sitting up in his seat. “What are you doing here?”

“You left your lunch, so I brought you some left overs from last night. I hope you’re okay with reheated Pizza.” She replies, sliding the pizza box across the table.

“It’s Perfect. Thanks.”

“Okay, well I’d better go. Oh, and be careful.”

“Why?”

“Clint is in the vents again. I don’t know why, so watch your back.”

“Thanks. Bye Wanda.”

“Bye Pete.” With that said, she leaves. The Cafeteria is still in somewhat of a shocked silence, but after a second or so the shock wears off and excited chatter
follows.

“That was the Scarlet Witch…” Ned says quietly. “That was actually her. She brought you Lunch. And called you little brother. Why did she call you that?”

“Because I think of her as my big sister. And I’m like her little brother.” Ned simply nods and continues eating, but Peter can still see the Amazment in his best friends eyes.

The entire lunch period, Peter listens for noise coming from the vents. Hawkeye is sure to drop in (Literally) any moment and Peter wants to be prepared.

Everything goes smoothly until they’re on they're way to the training room. The rest of the group doesn’t notice at first, but Peter’s spider sense and enhanced hearing detect Clint before anyone else.

Seconds later, Part of the vent falls and Clint’s head comes into view. He looks around trying to spot Pete in the group of students.

“Hey guys. Don’t mind me. I’m just looking for My best friend Pete.” This freaks out a few people. Flash screamed, and to be honest it sounded like a little girl. Judgy looks are tossed his way before turning back to the Avenger hanging from the ceiling.

“Uncle Clint! What have I told you?” The hero’s attention Zeroes in on Peter standing in the back of the crowd. Peter makes his way forward until he’s standing face to face with the avenger.

“About what?”

“Staying in the Vents.”

“That it’s perfectly normal.” Peter rolls his eyes, realizing this isn’t an argument he’s going to win. “So, where are you guys headed.”

“The training room. I’m on a field trip.”

“Yeah. I’m coming with you.” Clint jumps down from the vents and walks along side Peter as they go to the training center. When they arrive, Natasha, Steve, and Bucky are all training. Fighting with different weapons, and even hand to hand combat with one another.

Clint walks past the group and into the training room to tell the others that a tour group is here. They step out a few minutes later and of course the first thing they see is Peter.

“ Привет маленький паук" (Hello Little Spider) Natasha says.

“Hey Auntie Tasha.” Steve claps his hands to get everyone’s attention before making an announcement.

“Alright everyone. Since your teacher probably won’t allow you to train with weapons, we’ve had an Idea.”

“A good game of dodgeball.” Natasha finishes. Everyone nods in agreement and they head into the training room before dividing into 2 teams.

On one side, Clint, Peter, Bucky, and a few other students. On the other side is Steve and Natasha with the rest of the group. They start the game, and the first few rounds are really fun. It isn’t until round three that things get serious.

Clint throws a ball, and it nails Natasha in the head. Everyone freezes, not knowing what to expect as a look of revenge fills the black Widows eyes.

Clint must see it, because he begins his climb to the rafters. He climbs as fast as possible, trying to escape the assassins wrath. After standing for a few minutes,
Natasha leaves the room. But there’s no doubt that Clint’s going to get in huge trouble with her later.

“It’s okay Uncle Clint. She’s gone!” Peter yells from the ground.

“NO SHE ISN’T! SHE’S JUST WAITING!” He yells back. Peter just shakes his head and with a laugh the tour group exits the training area.

“Will he be okay?” Ned asks.

“For now. This is going to be a great story to tell aunt May later.” Peter replies as he thinks of what lies in store for Clint Barton.

“Alright, Next is the Q&A. We’re going to go to a conference room where you’ll meet none other then Tony Stark himself!” Mallory says with more enthusiasm than Peter can come up with.

They make they're way to an empty room and see all of the Avengers sitting at the front of the room, Clint and Natasha sitting farther away from each other. No one misses the fearful gazes he sends in her direction. All students take an empty seat and it begins. Stark is the first to speak.

“Okay, I’m Tony Stark. But you Probably already knew this. We’re going to answer a few questions and then we’ll send you home. First Question.” Of course Flashes hand is the first to go up, and everyone knows what his
question will be. “Okay, you in the front.”

“Do you offer internships to High School Students?”

“No sir. We don’t.”

“So how much did Puny Parker pay you to know him?” This takes every Avenger by surprise.

“What did you call him?” Bucky asks.

“Puny Parker? Well...I mean...He’s just Peter. He’s worthless. He’s nothing special. He’s a low down rotten liar.” The rage in Natasha’s eyes has moved from Clint to Flash in an instant.

They’re suddenly in a room of Angry Avengers. Wanda has Murder in her eyes and Bruce is on the verge of a code green.

“Я собираюсь убить его" (I’m going to kill him.) Natasha says as she pulls out her knife.

“Aunt Tasha, No! You can’t do that. It’s fine, just leave him alone.” Peter begs. Natasha reluctantly sits down as Tony speaks again.

“Well...Flash was it?” Flash nods, seeming almost proud that Tony Stark knows his name. “Well Flash, I know Peter. He didn’t have to pay me for two reasons. One, I’m a billionaire. I have enough money. Two, Peter’s like a son to me. He’s part of our large and dysfunctional family. And if you continue o bully him I have connections and a room full of Avengers ready to ruin your life.”

Peter can’t help but smile at the look on Flash’s face. Everyone is silent as Tony dismisses the tour group. He tells Mr. Harrison that he has Permission from Peter’s Aunt to keep him at the compound before Peter goes to speak to his teacher.

“Do you believe me now, Mr. Harrison?” Peter asks.

“I’m sorry I doubted you Peter. I’ll see you at school.” The group leaves, leaving Peter alone with his Family. He hugs Tony and Whispers to where only he can hear.

“Thanks Dad.” Tony Smiles and Peter is surprised at how natural it sounds. The rest of his Family joins in and soon it’s one big group hug. “I love you guys.”

“We love you too Peter.” Wanda replies as they all separate. “Now let’s talk about this Bullying problem.” Peter gives a nervous laugh.

Sure his Family is odd and a little Crazy. But he wouldn’t want it any other way.
