[8] Knight in shining armour
"KARD! ARE YOU CRAZY!?" Rin's voice was barely audible against the wind.
"JUST SHUT UP AND HELP ME ALREADY!" I yelled back angrily.
"HELP WITH WHAT? OHH! YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!"
"I DON'T CARE! JUST DO SOMETHING YOU USELESS BITCH!"
"WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?"
"BITCH HELP ME!"
"NOT LISTENING! LALALA!"
Curses.
"RIN! LISTEN TO ME!"
A blue Kaomoji icon appeared in front of my face.
( ̄ヘ ̄)
Oh I would do anything to get cross dimensional power now...
But instead, I gave into her demands once again.
"Please do something, anything or we are all going to DIE!"
"Fine. You could have asked nicely from the start."
"Yes, yes...my bad. Now do something!"
"Alright! Let's see...Ohhh! What do you think about hand held blast laser?"
"Sure whatever, just how do I use it then?"
"Don't worry, the work will do itself, just sit back and watch."
Before another curse could slip out my tongue, a bright hot orange ray came shooting out my new arm, even though I had my hand facing down I could still feel the intense heat of it melting through the metal ceiling like butter, golden and molten butter. The laser beam went on for about five seconds before it abruptly came to halt.
"That..." I was breathless, being taken back by the awesomeness I held in my hands.
"Used half of my batteries." Rin finished the sentence.
"Serious? Why don't you say so earlier?"
"Shut up! This is my first time being inside a robotic arm too you know?"
"Fair enough...Do you have a plan?"
"Not fall and roll off then run over by cars?"
"Good plan." I agreed.
As the truck entered a tunnel, a string of wailing sirens closed in. The cops were coming which is a good thing, but the bad thing was, we were stuck between the middle of a highly likely crossfire. We had to escape or go down fighting, I had to choose quickly.
"If only I could get to the front and send a pulse beam down, we could take them out."
"Sounds like a genius plan!" Rin clapped her hands delightfully with a cherry smile on her face, then with that sweet voice of hers she continued:
"Only there is nobody left to drive the truck, and the whole truck is just going to flip over and kill a bunch of innocent civilians and ourselves too, totally fine."
"Curses! Do you have a plan then? No. So be quiet."
"How about you use the laser beam to dismantle all the tires, so it won't able to move, duh!"
She had a point.
"Curses, I really hate you when you're right."
There was this glimpse of satisfaction on her face, but perhaps it was just an illusion.
"The tires are spinning really fast, so one second should be enough. Make sure you start from the back and make your ways towards the front, otherwise you will..."
"When will you stop acting like my mother?"
"When you can wear your big boy pants."
"O, just you wait till I get my cross dimensional powers."
I said already crawling sideways following her instructions though.
"Really now? You think you can take me on just because I am small?"
"No, I mean that too." I said as I leaned forward and aimed my hand at the rubber of the tire. The laser goes off and almost immediately the impact was responded by the sound of a giant air balloon popping and the scrapping of metal against ground.
One down, three more to go.
"I beaten way tougher guys then you!"
"When?" I asked making my way to the other side.
"When? Let's see, oh wait I can't remember the details but there was this one time there was this boss..."
As she went on with her imaginary rant, I leaned over and aimed once again, the laser found it's found its target.
Two down, two to go...
"Wait! Are you even listening?" she snapped.
"Go on with your BS. I am listening."
Well to be honest, her BS did help me concentrate and forget the dangers and fears that surround me at those moments, her BS truly helped me in ways I could never have imagined.
The hologram shifted:
(╬ Ò﹏Ó)
"Kard you Baka! I hate you! I hate you! I HATE YOU!"
"The feeling is mutual." I replied as I struggled to crawl forward against 100 miles per hour wind. It was impossible to get a grip. I almost got thrown off the truck every time it made the slightest maneuver.
Almost...
Then out from the corner of my eye I caught the reflection of myself from the side mirror. Too late, the windows rolled down and a pistol emerged. I made a bank to the hard left just in time, as several bullets whizzed past my head, a few more inches and they would have their job.
"CURSES!!!" I screamed, as I almost my grip the same time.
"KARD! LOOK!" Rin yelled, I looked ahead.
We have exited the tunnel. Several blocks down the road was a massive roadblock, with police and the mage squad lined up to the side, blocking the street completely. However the Pingu(s) didn't seem to have the slightest intention of slowing down.
"WE ARE GOING TO RUN INTO THEM!" Rin yelled once again.
My lips thinned.
Is this really going to be the end?
Hahaha...
Curses.
I grinded my teeth on that note.
"Wait! There is somebody standing in the path!"
I looked up, and for a second it all seemed unreal. A 7 foot tall white MS (Mobile Suits are basically human sized futuristic battle armor) stood in the center of the road. Judging from the way how he was standing, he seemed completely unfazed and unmoved by the situation, which made me wonder at the time what expression lies behind that narrow blue visor of his. No doubt in this situation he was the knight in the shining armor and I was the damsel in destress, but I couldn't care less, because if this situation lasted any longer I would have shit all over myself.
100 meters.
The white MS takes out a metal cylinder or it seemed so, then with one whip of his hand, the cylinder transformed into a spear.
50 meters.
From this distance I could see blue energy particles sparkling from the tip of the spear.
0 meters.
It all happened too quickly. The car ran into the figure, there was a brilliant blue flash, but no solid impact as if the truck ran into a ghost. Those thoughts however were quickly cancelled out as the terrible screech of metal against concreate made me go mute for a second. With one hand holding on and one hand covering my ear I looked to my side and by the time I see it, I felt this need to have my eyes checked. The truck eventually skidded to a stop, and by the time I let go and just kind of slide off from the ceiling, my muscles were just so clumped up in a way, that I might as well be made of glue. With fading sight I looked up, and there it was the truck, or what left of it. Down from the middle where it was sliced, the truck was split perfectly in half.
Q: Do you use the word 'baka' as a common phrase?
