she couldn't do that to marcus

3rd Person POV

iris went back to the stables when she found out that Meredith wasn't impressed with zoe or her. she said that if one of them didn't win nationals they would lose their horses and iris couldn't handle that. she had almost lost Kansas, she couldn't lose bullet. so she decided that maybe she just needed to stick James no matter what his training techniques were. She stayed at the stables and then Marcus called her

"hey" she said to him and he smiled at her

"how are you?" he asked her and she shrugged

"I'm fine, just Meredith said that if me or zoe don't win nationals we'll lost bullet and raven so now we have a lot of pressure on both of us" she said and he sighed

"I miss you iris" he told her and she smiled

"I miss you too" she said and then she looked up to see james on monty looking at her

"hey I have to go train but ill call you later. bye m" she spoke and he nodded as he ended the call and she put her phone in her box as she walked over to bullets stall and she tacked him up.

"so you're ready to follow my methods?" he asked and she sighed

"I can't lose him, so sure but that whip is not going anywhere near him until he is truly and fully ready" she said and james sighed and nodded. he knew the girl was determined.

"fine" he said and she began to lead bullet through the jumps and the arena as he followed her and she followed him.

"you're not using your voice anymore" he pointed out and she shrugged and nodded

"if we need to get better then I need to not use my voice and we need to depend on the others thoughts and feelings. your methods annoy me but I will not let you hurt me or him" she said and she rode around again as she did it perfectly the second time around. when it was over, she walked back into the yard and there was mia talking to the others

"as of this moment, no one, absolutely no one, is to be caught cavorting with anyone from holloway and yes, iris that does apply to certain traitor, whose name I cant even bare to speak" mia said and iris scoffed

"you truly don't have to worry about that mia" iris said and she walked away from them as they all stared at the sunshine girl who had never been mean or angry in her life. she walked back bullets stall that she had just put him in and she sighed as she leaned her head against him and he sighed with her

"why is this harder then it has it be?" she asked him and she heard him huff and she nodded in agreement with him as she sat down on the ground and he laid down next to her and put his head in her lap. she ran her hand over his mane as she pet him softly and she felt him sigh and breathe out every few minutes.

"yeah, a nap does sound like a good idea" she said and she leaned her head against the wall as she tried to fall asleep but the sun was shining in her eyes and she hated it. she heard Priscilla in the stall next to bullet and she smiled at the sound of her. she heard someone walk in and she looked up to see gaby with a box and she looked at her

"hi gaby" iris said as she tried to stay nice and polite.

"pin said he wants you to have this" she said and she handed the box over as iris looked in it and gaby put it on the ground next to her. iris saw the radio and she scoffed and sighed

"he doesn't want this?" she asked and gaby looked at bullet who was now staring at her

"I guess he's moving on" gaby retorted and iris nodded.

"there's a sweatshirt in the tack room for him , tell zoe that I said to give it to him and make sure to tell him that I don't need it anymore" she said and gaby nodded

"ill be sure to the message across" gaby said and iris nodded

"thanks" she said and gaby walked out of the room. iris sighed as she pet bullet again and leaned down to kiss him. she kissed him softly and then she heard someone at the door and she looked up as she saw the girls standing there

"hey, we're going to the beach are you coming?" she asked and iris nodded

"yeah let me get this one off of me and then I can get ready" she said and she pushed bullets neck making him get up. he stood up as she did too and she smiled. she went and tacked up bullet to make sure that they got to the beach. she put his staddle on and made sure he was safe as she left the others behind and she got to the beach before everyone else. she put bullet some where else as she sat down next to the girls who had just showed up

"so I thought itd be fun for us to do something all together. think of this, as a team building exercise, so that we can all pull together and defeat the holloway lowlifes once and for all" mia said and as soon as she said that, holloway walked in and iris leaned back as she smacked her head against the rocks and sighed

"what are they doing here?" zoe asked and iris closed her eyes and sighed.

"this is our part of the beach" mia announced and iris noticed that gaby was wearing pins sweater but she didn't care because she was wearing marcus's and pin knew that.

"its a free country. i think we'll stay" gaby retorted and iris sighed

"fine then we'll go" mia said

"wait, mia. look, we've had our differences but if you think about it, we all want the same thing. " callum stated

"look, you care about horses and so do we. we're all competitive, and we're all really good" alex said and iris sighed in agreement

"so instead of being enemies , why cant we?" callum said and susie cut him off

"be friends? if only for today" she said

"we brought marshmallows" alex said

"fine" mia said and iris leaned her head against the rock again as she tried to ignore everyone and everything.

"lucky Marcus isn't here. i see that look between you and pin. you like him" gaby said and iris chuckled in shock

" I don't like pin, Marcus is my boyfriend so believe what you want gaby but I'm not a cheater" she spoke and she noticed that pin was staring at her and she walked away from gaby and over to bullet. she leaned her head against him and looked around. she ignored the group until she heard someone clear their throat and she opened her eyes to see mia

"we need your help" she said and iris nodded

"what is it?" she asked

" we need you to race pin and prove that you're better then him and that we can win" she said and iris looked at bullet

"yeah, ill do it" she said and she stood up with bullet as she saw pin ride in on a different horse

"wheres elvis?" iris asked and pin shrugged

"this is jet , my new horse" he said and she scoffed before she listened to callum announce the rules and she nodded

"3,2,1, ride" alex yelled and bullet bolted off with iris as pin quickly fell behind. they were close and iris tpped bullets side making him go faster and he bolted forward making them win. when they got to the stop, iris got off and she pet bullet, he didn't pull away and he wasn't scared

"what was that?" he asked and she shrugged

"it was me proving whos best" she said and she went to walk away but he grabbed her arm and turned her to him

"you're not the same pin, you ditched elvis for some thoroughbred, you ditched me. its like you forgot everything that has happened between us and I don't like it" she stated

"you've changed too iris. tell me, how do you really feel about me?" he asked and she sighed

"it doesn't matter, Im with marcus" she said and he leaned in but she stopped him and she shook her head.

"i cant , i cant do that to him" she said and she knew she was right. she couldn't do that to marcus and she wouldn't. she walked to bullet and she got on him as she rode away and she heard them calling for her but she stopped. she got home after she put bullet back in his stall at the stables and there marcus was on her doorstep

"hi" he said and she smiled as she ran forward and she hugged him

she just didn't know how to tell him what almost happened between her and pin and she didn't know if she wanted to.
