TUNNEL THEORY

We all have grown up listening to the proverb- There is light at the end of the tunnel. In this quote , we symbolize the end of the tunnel, as the light, as the end to our miseries, as the result of our hard work, or maybe a person who saves us from all our struggles and the darkness in our life. And the tunnel always, always symbolizes darkness. It symbolizes our struggles or maybe the people who make our lives hard and harder.

I think- what if the tunnel, other than being associated with all thing bad or dark times or evil, symbolizes something good too? I think that the tunnel is analogous to all those people in our lives, who do not, or rather cannot help us reach our destination, to our light, but they just guide us. Like how the tunnel guides cars and other vehicles towards their destination. Just how the tunnel is a semi-curved surface through which you can either go to or fro, there are people in our lives, who guide us, who show us our paths, who help us in reaching our destinations. They might not be the light at the end of the tunnel, but they might be just there for us to listen to us, or hold our hands when the times are rough. They are there to protect us , to motivate us, the rocks and pebbles that help us form our mountains. There are so many people in our lives who are not a part of the destination, but they are the part of the journey. Just like the tunnel.

For me, now, the tunnel doesn't symbolize darkness. It symbolizes the guiding beacon that takes us to our destinations, our light, our end of struggles. It symbolizes everything good and beautiful and hard in a journey and all the people who , in little ways, help us during our struggles, who have nothing to do with our success. Those beautiful people who make our lives a little easier.
