SEVENTY TWO: Sweet Progress

*Time Skip, brought to you by an inconsistent author*

"Um...come again?"

I blinked a few times, trying to clear my vision despite having only one functioning eye. I wasn't sure what I was hearing, but what I did know was that there was an adorable, doe-eyed little girl clinging to the leg of my brother's pants.

"This is Eri. She'll be living with me from now on. I already explained this to you, (Y/N). You really need to pay more attention..." Aizawa sighed in agitation as he raked a hand down his face.

"You seem to be forgetting my brain is an entire sack of farts after I basically had a stroke, Sho..." I retorted with a sneer, unimpressed, before quickly switching to a smile and kneeling down. "Hey there, Eri. My name is (Y/N)! This big, stinky hobo is my b..brother!"

My speech had improved over the previous weeks, but I still struggled with stammers every now and then. My vision wasn't doing too well with my damaged eye, though. Shapes and shadows were all I could really make out, which wasn't the worst thing in the world.

"Y..you're his sister..?" Eri timidly released Aizawa's pants and took a small step forward, her stunning white hair covering equally as dazzling red eyes. "I..I hope I won't be a bother..."

AHHH, SHE'S TOO CUTE I WANNA SQUISH HER!

It was all coming back to me now. Aizawa had explained that he was going to be applying to become the guardian of a young child they had rescued from a yakuza organisation. The Eight Precepts of Death, or some garbage like that. I immediately felt obligated to protect this little girl with my entire heart and soul.

"You'd never be a bother! If you ever need anything, or if you just want a break from this scruffy b..bum, I'm always around!" I beamed, mentally kicking myself for my trouble with the letter B. "Sorry for the stutter..."

Eri tilted her head and clasped her hands together, leaning a touch closer.
"I think it's cute." She squeaked, and I was about ready to melt into a giant puddle thanks to her adorableness. Looking up to my brother with the most serious look on my face, I pointed to the child.
"We're keeping her."

--------------------------------------------

"Oh, so you've already met Deku..?" I peered down at the angelic albino as she clutched my hand. It was so small, I felt like I was walking around with a doll.
"Yeah...Mr. Deku and Mr. Mirio saved me..." She murmured, still pretty shy when it came to talking. I could relate all too well.

"Ah, I remember Mirio..." A bead of sweat rolled down my temple as I recalled how he basically slaughtered my entire class. It was difficult to believe he was now quirkless. "Well, Mr. Deku will be there! So will Kirishima, who was also there when you were rescued! Everyone is very nice, I promise!"

Katsuki, I swear to god, if you frighten this poor, defenceless bean..!

I was taking Eri to meet the rest of the class in the dorms. Aizawa was busy supervising Present Mic, who was making the finishing touches to the girl's new room. I could only hope he didn't go overboard.

It would be a lie to say that I wasn't chuffed when Eri latched firmly onto my arm when I opened the front door to the dormitory building, and I gently led her inside.
"WELL PAINT ME GREEN AND CALL ME SHREK! SHE'S THE CUTEST LITTLE SWEETIE!" Mina was the first to come barrelling over, but I hurriedly stepped in front of the petrified child.

"Mina...please don't be so boi..boister..." I crinkled my nose and gave up on the word. "Don't be so rowdy. She's nervous." The pinkette immediately screeched to a halt and flustered.

"Ah, I'm sorry! She's just so cute!" She crouched down, now with a curious Yaoyorozu and Sato behind her, and smiled softly. "I'm Mina, Eri! Sorry for being loud, it's just how I am!"

Big, cautious eyes glanced to me for confirmation, and I nodded my head.
"I..it's nice to meet you..." Eri murmured softly, and I could see Mina using every ounce of her strength to contain her squeals of delight.
"I'm Yaoyorozu, Eri, but you can just call me Momo." The ravonette also smiled, as did Sato, who I could tell was equally as nervous as Eri. He was probably scared that his size would freak the poor thing out.

"Uh, I'm Sato! Do you...do you want some apple pie? It's fresh out of the oven..." He rubbed his foot against the back of his calf like a schoolgirl, and again, my heart squeezed.

Everyone is just too precious...Oh...wait...that word...no...They're all such sweethearts...

Surprising everyone, Eri released my arm and bounded over to Sato, hands clasped together beneath her chin as she almost snapped her neck to look at his face.
"I would definitely, most one hundred percent-ely, like some apple pie, please, Mr. Sato!" She announced, and I swore I could see glitter and rainbows emanating from her very being.

"I heard pie and fresh..." Sero wandered into the living room with Uraraka in tow.
"Oh, Eri's here! Hi, Eri!" The brunette skipped over to walk alongside her, as the little girl had boldly taken hold hold of Sato's hand. He looked like he was about to bust a valve, concentrating on not crushing her petite fingers.

"Hello, Miss. Ur..Urarara...Um...Miss. Gravity Lady."

This young thing must be protected, holy fucking shit!

The rest of us followed them into the dining area, where we all began to fill up the large table. Us girls gushed as Sato carefully lifted Eri into her chair, and I swear even Sero 'aaawww'd' at the sight. She insisted I sit directly across from her, so I would be in her sight at all times, and she was flanked by Mina and Sato, once he had finished plating up and serving his delicacy.

"So good..." She whispered after the first bite, and the brunet boy was grinning ear to ear whilst everyone dug in. I didn't have the heart to say that my appetite still wasn't up to scratch, so I politely picked at the crust before I sensed more footsteps approaching the dining area.

"I smell something that's gonna go straight to my thighs!" Kirishima's booming laugh echoed through the room, and Eri flinched a bit before slowly easing another fork-full past her lips. Familiar arms curled around my shoulders, and I could feel a broad, sweaty chest sticking to the nape of my neck.

"Why is there a tiny albino brat at the table, and why are you feeding her..?" Bakugou grumbled, snatching away my fork and stabbing it into the slice of pie before bringing it up to my mouth. He always tried to pressure me to eat more, but I was, as he liked to call it, a stubborn bitch.

"This is Eri. Be nice to her. Introduce yourself." I said sternly, turning my head away to refuse the bite of food. Bakugou clicked his tongue and shovelled it into his own mouth, swallowing it with an impolite gulp.
"Sup, bra...Kid...I'm Bakugou..." He rolled his eyes and made himself at home, leaning against my back.

"Hello..." Eri said quickly, before turning to Kirishima, who was standing by the table with a plate of his own. "You're...uh...Kirijima, right? You looked like a mummy when I saw you that one time..."

"Close! It's Kirishima! I'm glad to see you're settling in!" The redhead beamed despite having pastry crumbs dappling his chin.

I felt strangely content. A small smile stuck to my lips as I leant my head in my hand, thinking about how things were going. Kaminari and Hokuto had both been consistently present in my mind, but when it came to everything else, it was normal. Everyone was back to their old ways.

Bakugou was a pretty great partner, despite his mood swings, and now I had somebody who had been through a similar experience to connect with. Yawning, I just watched as she timidly spoke with the others before I felt a hand brush through my (H/C) hair.

"You look freak'n beat...You need to rest." Bakugou leant down and mumbled into my ear.
"Nah, I'm fine. I gotta take care of Eri, too, anyway..." I really was exhausted, a continual side-effect of my medical troubles, but I didn't want to be treated like I was any less than I had once been.

"Either you go upstairs willingly, or I'll throw you over my shoulder and drag you up there myself..." The low growl in Bakugou's tone sent a familiar, almost delightful shiver down my spine, but I tried to ignore it. We still hadn't been intimate since the whole ordeal, and I would have been stretching the truth if I said I didn't crave it.

"We could look after Eri if you need rest, (Y/N)." Yaoyorozu piped up as she dabbed her lips with a napkin. "That is, if Eri would be comfortable with that?" The girl in question took a long look around the room at everyone before turning her rosy eyes to me.
"If...if big sister (Y/N) needs sleep, then I'd like to have more pie, please...and to see Mr. Deku..."

My heart can't take this much sweetness! I'm gonna croak!

I almost teared up at how she addressed me, and I have her my softest of smiles.
"Thank you, Eri...I'll make it up to you later, I promise." Standing up, I barely even made it to my feet before Bakugou wrapped his arm behind my torso for support. I didn't need it, not at all, but it showed me that he really did care.

"I think Deku is in the training grounds with Ectoplasm and Tsuyu." Mina hummed. "We could take you over there to see him, if you'd like? He'll probably be super sweaty, though!"
"Can I finish Mr. Sato's pie first..?"

As Bakugou lead me off upstairs, I couldn't stop smiling. Eri was going to have a chance I never had, to grow up surrounded by loving, caring people. I was excited to show her all of the new, amazing things in the world she had never known.
"You like brats, then?" Bakugou snapped me out of my thoughts with his question, and I narrowed my eyes.

"She's not a brat, Kacchan...B..but yeah, I do like kids..." I muttered, even though I knew he didn't mean any offence. He pulled me past my own door to his, which I had expected, and unlocked it swiftly with one hand.
"So, you'd wanna have one in the future..." This wasn't a question, more like a statement, and if he hadn't had his arm wrapped around my waist I would have been knocked off my feet.

"Uh...I...um...well...I...what..?" I spluttered whilst he kind of just nudged me onto the bed, where I bounced a few times on my ass. "W..well...maybe..?"

"Kay...just wondering..." He seemed to brush it off as though it had been a regular question, removing his sweat-stained shirt and replacing it with a clean, black tank.

"D..do you..?" My chest felt hot when I spoke, and I found myself dearly hoping he'd say yes. It was pretty dumb, considering we were both still young and in school, but I had never really expected my boyfriend to consider anything more than becoming the number one hero.

As Bakugou laid down beside me, he pulled me into his chest and buried his nose in my (H/C) hair. The warmth of his breath made me realise just how spent I really was, and I happily closed my eyes so I could rest against him.
"I dunno. Eventually. I just reckon you'd make a kickass mother, that's all..." He sighed with a small yawn of his own. Calloused fingertips traced feather-light circles against my hips, and I would have definitely complained about his teasing if I hadn't been so incredibly tired.

"W..well...I think you'd make a great dad, too. As long as you e..ease up on the curse words..." I giggled a little as he snorted loudly, squeezing me tighter to contradict his annoyance.
"Fuck you..." He hissed in a not-so-aggressive way, and my lips turned upwards in a sleepy smirk.
"Maybe later..."

His skin heated up almost instantly, and I felt at peace as he tangled his legs with my own.
"For crying out-" He grunted, clicking his tongue in defeat. "Just nap, street rat..."

"I love you, Kacchan..."

"Tch...I love you more, you damn nerd..."
