SEVENTY FOUR: Rendezvous

"I'LL RIP HIS FUCKIN' BALLS OFF 'N SHOVE THEM SO FAR UP HIS ASS THEY'LL BULGE OUTTA HIS THROAT LIKE A FUCKIN' TURKEY NECK!"

Aizawa had warned me that telling Bakugou would result in the flip out of the century, but it just didn't feel right keeping it a secret from him.

Hyena and I watched him stomp from one side of the room to the other repeatedly, spinning so harshly on his heels that it wouldn't have shocked us if he had worn a hole in the carpet.

"H..hey...Kacchan, calm down..." I spoke up finally, realising there would be no end to it unless I intervened. "As long as I don't leave the school grounds-"

"This is where he got to you last time!" Bakugou spun around a final time, stomping towards me, only to have Hyena block his path with a single arm.
"Yell at 'er one more time. I dare ya." If looks could kill, my boyfriend would have flatlined on the spot.

"No, it's ok..kay. He's just a loud person..." I explained in my damned stammer, which had thankfully improved a little since beginning speech therapy.

Well, looks like I'll have to put that on hold too...

Surprisingly, Bakugou didn't lay into my brother. Instead, he groaned loudly, running his hand down his face.
"Can you blame me? I'm freaking out..." He muttered, crouching down to lean upon my knees. "You gotta promise me you won't go anywhere alone, right? Even if you gotta take a piss. Girls like communing in the bathrooms, don't they?"

Deadpanning, I wanted to bite back at him for that vaguely sexist suggestion, but I couldn't. He was just worried about me. Not only me, but everyone who had ever been close to Kaminari. We had witnessed his malice and obsession, so we knew just how much of a danger our predicament could be.

"Shota's looking into it, and so is Nezu. All we can really do is sit and wait." I sighed, beginning to comb my hand through his ashy blond spikes, using them as comfort. I couldn't lie. I was scared shitless.

"Oi, so, I kinda organised a thing, but before I tell you the thing...you gotta cross ya heart that your loud bastard here ain't gonna blow up my face." Hyena piped up, leaning back on his arms. "Ass is fine, just not the money maker." Bakugou bristled in my lap, but once he felt the pressure from my hand increase, he eased up.

"What thing, Hokuto..?" Narrowing my (E/C) eyes, I had a hunch. There was only so much the ex-villain could organise without the help of our hero supervisors, so there could really be only one person.

The brunet held my phone up, the tiny (F/Pro Hero) charm clacking against the case as he shook it for emphasis.
"The Dabster got a lactation. Wait. Location. Yeah, that." He snorted, trying his hardest to remain serious. "If we can, like, ronday...Uh, rendyboo...Fucki'n, rabamafoo, or whatever..."

"Don't hurt yourself, psycho. It's rendezvous." Bakugou growled from my lap, choosing to remain there likely because he wanted to avoid smacking my big brother across the side of the head.
"Yeah, that!" Hyena snapped his fingers. "If we can do that, he can tell us what he's found out! How good is that?! Just cuz texting and shit is too risky. Y'know, electric-y quirk and all."

It sounded like our best bet, considering we hadn't been able to get any information from the adults after they had called around trying to figure out when and why. There was only one problem.
"I'm not a..allowed to leave the grounds..."

At least not without a pro hero escort...and Sho wouldn't even consider letting me talk to Dabi...

"Psssshhhh, you broke int'a Tittyrus, but now you're gonna play all goodie goodie?" Hyena scoffed, nudging me with his elbow. "I'll even tail ya, just in case!" This time, Bakugou wasn't standing for it, and in a flash he was on his feet, fists crackling in threat.
"Why the hell are you in here, anyway?! Quit trying to talk her into something stupid, you psycho!"

"K..Kacchan! Do-"
"Nah, I get it!" Hyena cut me off, standing up and stretching back, his bones clicking loudly. "Lover boy just wants t' keep ya safe 'n all that. Besides, he'd probably get way too jealous if you met up with post-house fire Raggedy Andy." I cringed, seeing Bakugou tense up out of the corner of my good eye.

I knew he had his suspicions about something happening between me and the cremation villain, but we had chosen to never discuss it, despite nothing having ever occurred. My brother really knew how to pick at people's insecurities.

"Go piss off somebody else, fleabag!" The blond barked, leering at the reformed boy until he started towards the door.
"That was the plan! I wanna play hide and seek with that invisible chick, anyway!" Before he left the room, he turned to me, a serious expression washing over his face. "If you change your mind, I'll be downstairs."

It's our only valid option right now...but...Katsuki...

Bakugou's anger dissipated the moment the door clicked shut, and he quickly retreated back to my arms, smoothing his face just above my breasts and pushing me back into the bed.
"Why are all your relatives stupid?" He mumbled, muffled by my (S/C) skin. Sighing, I wrapped my arms around him, creeping my fingers beneath the hem of his shirt at the back.
"He was just trying to help, in his own special way..."

"Yeah, well, I'm not risking you again..." My boyfriend sounded possessive, but not in the way I used to hate about him. I knew he was scared, and I was too, but I needed just a little more trust.
"Come here..." I coaxed him with my voice, and he shimmied up my body, finding my lips with ease without even opening his eyes. His contented hums made my nerves ease, and I allowed myself to get lost in his affections.

It was nearing our one year anniversary, and I still couldn't get enough of him. Sure, we butted heads at the best of times, but behind closed doors he was especially attentive and gentle, making sure I could never doubt my decision in choosing his love. He still hadn't dared to make any major advances towards me, even if I had begged him for it. He always said he wanted to do things right, but I could only be so patient.

"What are you doing, idiot..?" There was no spite in Bakugou's voice when he pulled back, motioning down to where I was pawing at his chest.
"Just testing the waters..." I replied as casually as I could without sounding too needy. "It's been ages, Kacchan..."

My cheeks puffed out as he rolled off, deflating as he pulled me to lay on my side to face him against the mattress.
"Not yet. Soon, but I just wanna...I dunno, be in control. This shit has me too pissed off to do you any good..." He admitted truthfully, and I couldn't be mad at him. He was really trying to do right by me.

"When did you grow up..?" I chuckled, nuzzling my nose against his, ignoring the sharp puff of air he blew out.
"I've always been grown up..." He huffed, nipping at my chin. "Came outta that old hag knowing shit."

Tangling my legs with his, I wriggled closer, closing my eyes and enjoying his warmth.
"I want you to trust me...okay?" I said after a while, feeling his hold on me become just a fraction tighter.

"It isn't you I don't trust."

-----------------------------------------------

Well, I did trust Dabi.

I also trusted my brother, so once I was sure Bakugou was busy training with his little squad, I slipped out of the school with the help of Hyena. I was pretty sure my boyfriend had his suspicions that I would go ahead with it, but that was a problem for later.

I stood nervously, my feet kicking absently at the concrete every few seconds. Hyena had busied himself by rummaging through the huge dumpster, filled to the brim with takeout from the fast food joint we were currently hidden behind.

"A..are you sure that it was Dabi you were talking to..?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"I'm at least, like, seventy percent sure!" Hyena replied, popping his head out of the dumpster.

Shit...maybe this was a mistake after all..?

"Wow, I'm surprised you showed up." I jumped in fear when a new voice joined the mix, but the moment I saw those familiar burns and glinting staples, I heaved a sigh of relief.
"So am I." I said quietly, a small smile tugging at my lips as he came closer. Hyena climbed out of the filth in a hurry, bounding over and stopping by my side, reeking of expired oil and dairy.
"So, what'chya got for us, ya demented candle?"

Getting used to this new Hokuto is definitely proving to be a challenge...

Once Dabi got a whiff of the brunet, he took a step back, instead turning his attention to me.
"It's been a while. You look a lot better than when I saw you last." He stated, looking me up and down with those sharp, azure eyes.
"I feel a lot better...Still a little fucked up, though." I chuckled nervously, pointing to my shoddy eye.

It was strange seeing Dabi in something other than his usual villain get-up. The black hoodie and sweatpants made him look all the more sketchy.
"So, the information." He began, shoving his hands into his pockets. "So far, I know he escaped five days ago, but I'm not entirely sure how. All I know was that there were a couple casualties." My throat tightened upon hearing that. Even though I knew exactly how deranged and violent Kaminari could be, it still shocked me.

"They kept it quiet, then..." I mumbled, shoulders feeling heavier at the thought.
"Yeah, looks like it." Dabi sighed, shifting his weight to the other leg before continuing. "At the moment, we're pretty sure he's hiding out somewhere in Kyoto. The last thing we found was footage of him leaving the main station there."

So he's far away...That's good...

Peering up at the familiar villain, I couldn't help but wonder.
"Dabi...Why are you helping us?" Rolling his eyes, he shrugged his shoulders, staring down at his shadow, which was melting into the darkness of the alleyway.

"The boss thinks he could be an asset again, considering where we're at now with the whole shebang, so he's keeping close tabs." He glanced back at me for a moment, a smirk barely showing on his marred face. "Plush, for nostalgia's sake...us monsters gotta stick together, right?"

I had forgotten how much I had missed him in the past year. A person so dear to me, yet one so dangerous. A friend forbidden.
"Yeah...How could I have forgotten?" I smiled sadly at him, knowing that we would have to part ways again shortly.

"Tick tock on the clock, my dudes. If you don't wanna get your ass chewed out like bubblegum you're gonna have to wrap this bitch up." Hyena said in all seriousness, looking down at his bare wrist.

"I'll contact this shit stain if I get any more info. Better run off home to your little friends, hero." Dabi snickered darkly, taking a step back to leave. Without really thinking it through, I lurched forward, my arms wrapping around his slender torso and squeezing tightly.

"Thank you, Dabi..." I whispered, feeling him stiffen as his hands awkwardly hovered over my back. "For everything..." He knew exactly what I meant. I didn't need to specify anything at all. I felt him deflate as his arms reciprocated my embrace, albeit very, very lightly.

"Don't you dare credit me for being nice..." He muttered, yet there was not a shred of spite in his tone. With a gentle push, he removed himself, hesitating for barely a moment before turning around and walking away, back into the shadows to slink back to his own criminal world.

Thank you...

"Come on, sis. We really need to head back." I turned to Hyena, blinking a few times as I stared at what he had in his arms.
"Uh...you are not taking that home with you..." I said firmly, irking at the sight of the rusty animatronic hand he had clutched to his chest.

"It's for my collection!"

"What collection?! You've been out for wh..what? A couple of days?!"

"I gotta start somewhere!"
