TDG Task #12 - Synthetic Toes
I secure my product on his feet, then take a step back. My lungs feel close to erupting from a lack of movement, and my cheek hurts from biting on it.
"Try it out," I manage, watching the way Geralt scanned the twin straps with his eyes before confidently taking a step forward.
"Hey, it didn't kill me." Geralt took another experimental step forward, then frowned. "But it doesn't do anything, Jaskier."
"Oh yes, of course it does," I hurry to correct him, pulling my phone from my pocket and brushing my bangs to the side. "You see, all you need to do is install this app" I show him the screen "then you can choose which style you want to do."
He nods stoically, and I grin nervously. I turned back to my screen. determined to impress him. Ballet. He'll surely like ballet. Mind made up, I pressed the pad of my finger against the mauve pink icon, then looked to him expectantly.
For a second, nothing happened.
Then his knees began to bend.
His feet crossed themselves, lowering into a perfect first position, then raising again. It works, I thought proudly to myself. It actually bloody works!
No one needed to know I hadn't ever tried my InstaDance brace on anyone but myself. Nor the fact I decided to skip the first eight dance companies on Google maps for the sake of landing the most infamous owner of Rivia studios, Geralt Lehnsherr.
Go big or go home, right?
Geralt suddenly straightened, and did a pirouette, the toes of the brace spinning his already professional form into a speedy gyration. I watched him spin around in a blur, growing faster and faster until that silver hair looked almost like a bell billowing out from him, before he gathered his feet beneath him and sprung off in a ten-foot-leap over my head.
I winced as he landed somewhere behind me, quickly turning off the brace. Did I go too overboard? "It's made for beginners, not really professionals, I'm sorry if that was just awful, I..."
He gave me a look, and I shut up.
"I probably can't use this," he told me as I approached him. I cringed inwardly. I probably should have gone with someone else first... I walked closer, planning to help him out of the braces, before his deep baritone startled me.
"I'll take them." I looked up at him, his terrifyingly golden eyes seeming to stare into my soul.
"Really?" I squeaked.
He nodded, and then - the most miraculous thing happened - he smiled. "If I can't use them as a professional, I'm sure my wife can. I've probably been looking for this ever since we've started seeing each other. Thanks for business, Jaskier."
Then, like the badass he was, Geralt of Rivia sauntered off.
