Wake Up Bright Halo

Characters and Word Meanings

Mingxia : pronounced Ming-shah, Bright Halo in Chinese 明霞

Canción: Song in Spanish

Asakaze:  Morning Wind in Japanese 朝風

妈妈 māma or 妈 mā: noun. Mother, singular, in Mandarin.

Wake Up Bright Halo

Wake up, moon beam
Speak up, or how will they know what to call you?
Wake up, Bright Halo,
Speak up, tell them your name

No one sees me, only moon beams

No one will know who you are
Unless you tell them.

To those who will assume the best
and be wrong
you owe nothing
To those who will imagine the worst
you have given nothing
to prove them wrong.

Speak up, tell them your name
Don't be invisible.
Let them see you, Moonbeam.

A/N: Thank you for reading this intro Mingxia's Star. Inyanga is just one star in a Constellation, and Mingxia is another. I hope you enjoy seeing how the characters intersect.

I would love input from any speakers of Chinese about the meaning and pronunciation I have used for Mingxia. All of the names in the story are meant to be nouns, so when I came across the definition "Bright Halo," I got very excited and went with it.

In my research it seems like 'Ming' can mean 'bright' but it has become difficult to find a reliable source on 'Halo.' I have seen Xia as 'rosy clouds' or perhaps 'glow.' I would be insanely grateful if anyone knows, because I've become attached to a Halo for her :)

Please enjoy the next section of the novella, Mingxia's Star. And please leave a star for me if you liked the poem. Have a wonderful day <3
