Chapter 55💜🦋

Hello😀

Vaanga vaanga story kulla polaa 🚴‍♀️💜🦋

*********

♡♡

Aayush

"Listen to me first! The moment you stop depending on your dearest chatgpt for error-free code, that's when you'll really stand on your own. Until then, you're just a zero. Mark my words!"

I snapped at her harshly, unable to control my anger over her silly antics.

But, she rolled her eyes, stood up, and, with a sharp thud, placed her notebook on the table beside her laptop.

"Ippo enna? Neengalum solla maaten'nu solleetel... adha naane therinjukalaa'nu pannen. Adhukulla..."

(What? You said you wouldn't tell me anything... So, I tried to figure it out myself. But before I could...)

I raised a brow at her and folded my arms below my chest.

"Okay. So, you've gained some knowledge from that, right? Good. Then prove it. Write the code on your screen without looking it up. NOW!"

I commanded, my voice cutting through the room.

And, she hesitated, lowering her gaze to her laptop, but before she could do anything, I walked over and slammed the laptop shut.

"Unga kaasula vaangunadhu illa indha laptop!"

(This laptop wasn't bought with your money!)

She shouted at me.

"En mela irukka kovatha en mela mattum kaamchaa podhum!"

(Stop taking out your anger on other things when you're really mad at me!)

She added, muttering under her breath.

I glared at her silently, but she avoided my gaze.

Gathering her laptop, notes, and pen, she turned to leave.

But, before she could take a step, I grabbed her elbow and pulled her back towards me, swiftly.

Her bicep brushed against my chest as our eyes met—mine looking down at her, hers staring up at me.

Just as I was about to say something, she wriggled free from my hold and walked away, ignoring my shout,

"Seetha!"

But then, my eyes narrowed as they landed on the woman standing beside my father at the entrance of the house.

However, my attention quickly shifted to Seetha, who turned back, her frustration erupting as she shouted,

"Unkooda ini padikkave maaten. Poyaa!"

(I won't study with you anymore. Go away!)

I shoved one hand into my pants pocket, the other awkwardly scratching my eyebrow, embarrassed by her outburst in front of the two persons standing behind her.

And from her mischievous glances, I could tell she was actually staging a scene to dodge my anger, clearly neither upset nor hurt by me.

Just she and her rowdy acts!

But, before I could respond, I heard a sharp,

"Hey! Watch your eyes!"

My gaze shifted to the woman standing there in a black half-shoulder dress that ended just above her knees.

The sight made me instinctively glance back at Seetha, who stood radiant and sexy just in her orange half-saree.

With a proud smirk, I slipped my other hand into my pocket and walked towards them, directing my attention to the stranger.

"But I'd advise you to watch your words"

I said coldly, my tone firm as I continued,

"Before saying anything or giving such a look to someone who owns this house after my parents—and me"

I wrapped my arm around Seetha's shoulder, pulling her close.

She tried to wriggle free, but I tightened my hold, giving her shoulder a hard squeeze.

And her resistance faded as she bit her lip and lowered her head, going silent.

"Aayush"

Appa's voice cut through the tension, drawing my gaze to him.

"This is Maya, my sister's daughter"

He introduced.

I barely glanced at that woman, not in the mood to acknowledge her, though I could feel her eyes on me.

So, appa continued,

"She's doing her PG at your college. Hostel'le thangi padikiraanga pola. But ippo hostel'le yedho pratchanai'nu avanga amma enkitta help ketrukkaanga. For the first time, I couldn't deny. Namma Seetha pola dhaane? So oru rendu naal inga thangattum'nu kooptu vandhirukken"

(She's doing her PG at your college. And it seems she was staying at the hostel, but there's some issue there. Her mother sought my help. For the first time, I couldn't deny. She's just like our Seetha, right? So I brought her here to stay for a day or two)

Maya extended her hand,

"Hello, Aayush. Nice to meet you"

My eyebrows raised, gaze shifted from her outstretched hand to Seetha, who was glaring at it.

Sensing the brewing storm, I shook hands with Maya in the most formal way possible and said,

"Hello, Ms. Maya. And, for your information, I am your professor, as you are studying at the same college where I work. So, I expect you to address me with some respect"

Then, retrieving my hand quickly, I opened my mouth to introduce my woman to her, but I was interjected by,

"Mama, en room?"

(Mama, my room?)

Maya addressed my father casually.

Mama?

My eyes quickly darted to Seetha, whose glare intensified.

Because I know how much she likes calling my father "Mama"

And her gaze didn't waver, even as Appa pulled Maya away to settle her in the guestroom.

I sighed and slipped my hand around Seetha's waist, pulling her towards me.

She flinched slightly and tried to wriggle free, but I tightened my hold and turned her to face me. She averted her gaze, her lips twisting into an adorable pout.

Biting back a smile, I pulled her closer until she finally looked up at me with a glare.

But, in response, I blew her a kiss.

She tried hard—but failed—to suppress her smile as usual, breaking into a soft chuckle instead.

Finally. I smiled.

But, with a playful swat to my chest, she complained,

"Sir, enna romba dha thitrel!"

(It seems like Sir is scolding me more!)

And twisted her lips again.

I sighed and said,

"Sorry, ma. I just want to see you ace your task. Adhaa... If I hurt you, I'm really sorry"

She let out a soft sigh in return and said,

"Hurt'laa illa. Naane ungakitta ipdi maatikittanae epdi da thappichu odalaam'nu paathen. Aana epdiyum nannaa maatikitten!"

(I'm not hurt. I was just thinking about how I could escape after getting trapped by you like this. But somehow, I ended up getting trapped myself nicely!)

She smiled sheepishly at me.

Naan sollala?

(Didn't I say this before?)

I chuckled.

"Serii..."

(Okayy...)

I said, pulling her close and holding her tightly against me.

"Half the work is already done... so..."

"So?"

She asked curiously, tilting her head.

I grinned and asked,

"Enkooda variyaa?"

(Will you come with me?)

She frowned and asked,

"Varen. Aana enga?"

(I'll come. But where?)

"Football ground?"

She stared at me and opened her mouth to ask something, but I stopped her, asking,

"Varuviyaa illayaa?"

(Will you come with me or not?)

Her lips widened in a smile, but then she pressed her lips together and blinked at me, making me frown and ask,

"What happened?"

"Ground'ku vandhu naan enna panna poren'nu yosikiren"

(I'm thinking about what I'll even do at the ground)

"Nee laptop ellaam eduthuttu vaa.. anga vandhu code error illaama ellaam work aagudhaa'nu check panneetu iru.."

(Bring your laptop with you... check if every code works without errors)

"Appo neenga?"

(Then what about you?)

"I will be playing"

She raised her brows.

"Neenga mattum jolly'ah enna paaka vachu velaaduvinglaa?"

(So you'll happily play while leaving me there to just watch you?)

I leaned in and said,

"Madam, naan paduchu muduchu, now I have some job in my hands"

(Madam, I've studied and finished, now I have some job in my hands)

"So? Naan velaiku pogaama vettiyaa irukken'nu soldrelaa?"

(So? Are you saying I'm jobless and sitting idle?)

I bit my lower lip, realizing I had spoken nonsense, especially to her, that too during her first day of periods.

I smiled awkwardly and said,

"That was not my point, Seetha ma"

"Apro? Apro enna unga point?"

(Oh really? Then what's your point?)

I stayed silent, racking my brain for a convenient answer, but before I could speak, she started wriggling in my arms, trying to free herself.

My eyes widened, and I quickly pulled her back.

"Vidungo!"

(Let me go!)

She snapped, glaring at me.

But I shook my head stubbornly and replied,

"Maaten"

(I won't)

Her eyes blazed as she whispered harshly,

"Vela illaama vettiyaa irukkavanga kitta ungalukku enna professor pechu vendi irukku? Vela irundhu, vettiyaa illaadhavanga kooda poi pesunga!"

(Why do you need to have conversations with people who are jobless, professor? Go and talk to people who have some job in their hands!)

She kept wriggling, trying to escape, but I held her tighter, leaning close and whispering gently,

"Shhh... Seetha, ma. Naan apdi sollala, ma"

(Shhh... Seetha, I didn't mean it like that)

"Vera epdi sonnel?"

(Then what did you mean?)

I sighed, knowing I was losing this battle.

"Okay. I apologize. Adhu summa velayaatukku solla poi..."

(I just said it for fun...)

Her expression hardened.

"Neenga velayaatukku solla poi naan thappaa eduthukutten? Fine. I am sorry. Leave me"

(So you said it for fun, and I took it the wrong way? Fine. I'm sorry. Leave me.)

She pushed me back and started walking away, her face tight with frustration.

I stood there for a second, amused by her reaction, but then realized I needed to stop her.

"Seetha, nillu!"

(Seetha, stop!)

I called after her, quickening my steps as she reached the entrance of the house, determined to leave.

But before she could cross, I grabbed her wrist and twirled her to face me, twisting her arm behind her back.

"Vidu.."

(Leave..)

She started to yell, but her notebook slipped from her hand, landing squarely on my foot.

"Ammaaa!"

(Ouch!)

I yelped, letting go of her wrist and hopping on one leg, grabbing my toes in pain.

Her gasp was immediate, and her expression shifted to panic. She rushed to my side, gripping my shoulders.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry! Inga vaanga utkaarunga..."

(Sorry, sorry, sorry! Come here, sit down...)

She guided me to the couch, her arm around my waist and mine slung over her shoulder.

As I sat down, wincing, she crouched before me, examining my foot carefully.

But we turned as we heard footsteps. Appa and Maya emerged from the room, their faces curious and concerned.

"Aayush, enna da aachu?"

(Aayush, what happened?)

Appa asked, looking from me to Seetha.

Seetha stood up.

"Appa. Onnum illa, pa. Seetha oda note onnu en kaal'le vilundhiruchu avlodha"

(Dad, it's nothing. One of Seetha's notebooks fell on my foot that's it)

"Ohh"

Appa said with a small nod.

"Enna nga neenga konjam careful'ah irukka venaamaa?"

(Can't you be a little more careful, Ms. ?)

Maya's voice cut in, and I lifted my face to see her directing a sharp gaze at Seetha.

I glanced at Seetha, who wasn't even paying attention to Maya.

Her eyes were fixed solely on me, her brows furrowed in concern.

A small smile tugged at my lips as I asked,

"Onnula, ma. Kelambalamaa?"

(It's nothing, ma, shall we leave?)

Her lips parting to respond as she took her place beside me on the couch, but before she could, Appa interrupted,

"Kelambringlaa?"

(Leaving?)

I turned to see him frowning at me.

"Aama, pa. Naan football ground'ku poren. Seetha'uhm varen'nu sonnaa..."

(Yes, Dad. I'm heading to the football ground, and Seetha said she'll come too..)

"Apdiyaa? Seri paathu poitu vaanga da. Adhukku munnaadi Seetha oda parents kitta inform panneeru, Aayush"

(Is that so? Fine, be careful and come back safely. But inform Seetha's parents first, Aayush.)

He pulled out his phone from his shirt pocket just as it began ringing.

"Okay, pa"

I replied obediently.

"Safe'ah poitu varanum. Seetha, don't go anywhere alone"

(Go and come back safely. Seetha, don't go anywhere alone)

He added, glancing at her..

"Seri, mama"

(Okay, mama)

Seetha replied softly.

He smiled, ruffling her hair like she was a little girl. Then he glanced at me with a smile before heading to his room to attend the call.

Maya followed him and went inside her room, throwing one last glance at us.

I let out a sigh of relief, shaking my head.

Then, turning to Seetha, I noticed her lowering her head, still looking worriedly at my foot.

Unable to resist, I leaned in and kissed her cheek softly.

She gasped, her hand flying to her cheek as her wide eyes snapped up to meet mine.

I chuckled at her reaction and asked casually,

"Polaamaa?"

(Shall we go?)

She smiled faintly and asked,

"Valikala'le?"

(It doesn't hurt, right?)

"Nijama valikala, ma. Naan valichaa sollaama iruppanaa? Vaa polaam.."

(It really doesn't hurt, ma. Would I stay quiet if it did? Come on, let's go..)

She smiled, her curiosity evident as she asked,

"Yedhukku dhideernu ground'ku enna koopudrel?"

(Why are you suddenly calling me to the ground?)

Smiling back, I replied, standing up,

"En pondatti'eh inniku romba thittuna maadhiri feel aachu. Adhaa..."

(I feel like I scolded my wife too much today. So...)

"Ohhh"

She teased, dragging the word with a mischievous grin and her eyebrows raised.

I smiled, mimicking her tone,

"Ohhh"

She burst into laughter.

Then, still with a smile, she stood on her toes and wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Okay, polaam"

(Okay. Let's go)

She said, smiling softly, then paused,

"But enga'aathula enna'nu soldradhu?"

(But what will we tell at my home?)

I rolled my eyes and wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Seetha, ma... we're going to get married. Nalaiku Pongal vera. Kandippa next three days'ku nee free'aah iruka maata. Adhaa soldren.. kedaikura time'le thaniyaa time spend panlaam"

(Seetha, we're going to get married. Tomorrow's Pongal, and for sure, you won't be free for the next three days. So, I'll just say we can spend time together while we have)

She bit her lower lip thoughtfully, and my gaze instinctively dropped to her lips.

My hand found its way to her bare waist, my thumb tracing lazy circles on her skin.

She stiffened slightly, then relaxed, her cheeks flushing a deep red as her gaze softened.

When her eyes met mine, catching where my gaze lingered, her lips quirked into a shy smile.

I gave her waist a squeeze, pulling her closer so she had to stand higher on her toes to meet my height.

Then, leaning in, I closed the distance between us.

But the spell shattered when we heard someone clearing their throat loudly.

Startled, she jerked apart, and we turned towards the doorway.

There stood Elango, his arms crossed, a teasing smirk plastered on his face.

I sighed, running a fingers through my hair in frustration.

Perfect timing.

Elango walked inside, his hands shoved casually into his pants pockets, and opened his mouth to say something.

But before he could get a word out, I grabbed Seetha's wrist, my fingers gently wrapping around hers.

She looked up at me, her brows raised in question, her lips parting slightly as if to ask what I was up to.

I offered her a small smile, trying to convey a silent reassurance.

And when she smiled back, the corners of her lips curving upward shyly, I wasted no time.

"Let's go"

I whispered, my voice steady but commanding. Without waiting for her response, I took hold of her wrist and her bag, already packed with her laptop and notes, and tugged her along.

We darted past Elango, whose mouth had dropped open in shock.

"Hey, wait...!"

He began to protest, but we ignored him.

His shout followed us down the hallway,

"Appaaa! Unga paiyan unga marumagala iluthuttu odraan!"

(Dad! Your son is running away with your daughter-in-law!)

Seetha's laughter erupted like a melody, light and carefree. She clutched my arm as we ran, her giggles contagious. By the time we reached my bike, she was out of breath but still laughing, her cheeks flushed with exhilaration.

But, she jumped onto the seat behind me, her arms instinctively wrapping around my waist, her giggles filling the air.

I chuckled, revving the engine as we zoomed off.

From behind us came Elango's exasperated voice, fading into the distance.

The wind whipped through our hair as we raced down the street.

It was a moment that felt suspended in time—just the two of us, escaping the chaos for a little while.

When we reached the ground, I introduced her to my football mates.

"This is my soon-to-be wife"

Earning an even deeper flush from her.

She offered them a soft, "Hi", her voice barely above a whisper.

Not to make her feel awkward or nervous before the new faces, I led her to a table beside the field, pulling out a chair for her. She sat down and I sat beside her, grabbing her hand gently, rubbing my thumb over her knuckles.

She glanced at me with a smile as she said,

"Seri... neenga poi velayaadunga. Naan apdiye inga utkaandhu padikiren.."

(Alright... you go play. I'll sit here and study..)

"Are you sure? Thaniyaa irundhuppiyaa?"

(Are you okay being alone here?)

I asked, unable to hide my concern.

She nodded, her smile growing.

"Irundhuppen, professor. Neenga poi velayaadunga. Adhaa... half work muduchuttome, ippo utkaandhu ellaam run aagudhaa'nu check pannaa podhum"

(I'll be fine, professor. You go play. I'll sit here and just make sure everything runs smoothly that's all..)

And I hummed in agreement, giving her a smile.

"Aanaa... veetla poi seekro vittudrelaa? Nalaiku Pongal naala amma'ku help pannanum"

(But let's leave early, okay? Tomorrow is Pongal, and I have to help mom)

"Sure. Seekro poyidulaam. Nee irundhuppa'le inga? Naan venaa irukkattumaa?"

(Sure, we'll leave early. You'll be okay here, right? Should I stay with you?)

She clicked her tongue, waving me off teasingly.

"Mch, adhellaa pretchana illa... enga inga dhane irukka poringa? Naan apdiye ungala paathutte iruppen"

(No issues at all. You'll be nearby, right? I'll just study while keeping an eye on you..)

I chuckled at her.

"Enna paathutte padippa?"

(So, you'll study while keeping an eye on me?)

She frowned at my teasing, only to grin mischievously and turn her back to me, pretending to take out her laptop.

Her playful defiance made me laugh.

Then, standing up, I kneeled before her, startling her.

She gasped, grabbing my shoulders and whispering tensely,

"Aiyoo! Aaraadhu paaka poraanga, endhiringa, professor!"

(Oh no! What if someone sees? Get up, professor!)

Ignoring her protests, I gently took her hands in mine, meeting her gaze and said,

"Face'eh tired'ah irukku. Veetla thirumba poi vitrattumaa?"

(You look tired. Shall we head back home?)

Her lips curved into a soft smile, and she replied,

"Adhellaa oru tired'uhm illa. Paarunga nannaa sirikirenaa? Aana oru varutham dha ennaala Pongal'ku saamy'laa kumbda mudiyaadhu"

(I'm not tired at all. See, I'm smiling brightly, right? But one disappointment is that I couldn't offer prayers to the deity for this Pongal)

She pouted, and I couldn't help but smile.

Unable to resist, I kissed the back of her hand, feeling its warmth, and said,

"Don't worry. I'll keep you company. Naanu pray panna maaten, okay?"

(I won't pray either, okay?)

But, she shook her head firmly and said,

"Adhellaa venaa. Namma rendu perukkum saethi neenga pray pannikonga"

(No, that won't do. You pray on behalf of both of us)

"Are you sure?"

"Pakka!"

I chuckled, then, standing up, I cupped the back of her head, leaned in, placing a soft kiss on her hairline.

She smiled warmly as I pulled back.

Then my football mates wasted no time teasing me when I joined them.

"Vaathi coming, da!"

(Here comes the professor, da!)

One called out.

"Vaathi oda kadhal kadhai da idhu. Vaathi coming illa!"

(This isn't just the professor coming, da. It's the professor's love story!)

Another chimed in, only to receive a playful smack on the back of his head from me.

Then, we started the match, and though I focused on the game, my gaze wandered back to her now and then, ensuring she was safe and comfortable.

But, every time I caught her looking at me, she'd quickly avert her gaze back to her laptop, making me chuckle.

After a victorious game filled with goals, high-fives, and celebratory steps, I glanced at my watch.

It was already 7 PM.

I turned to look at her, only to sigh softly when I noticed her watching me intently.

She leaned forward, her elbows resting on her thighs, chin cradled in her palms, and a wide smile lighting up her face, directed straight at me.

Shaking my head, I informed my team that I was leaving and jogged towards her, the sweat from the intense game still clinging to me.

Seeing me approach, she straightened up, quickly turning to her bag to grab a water bottle.

As I stopped before her, slightly panting, she removed the cap and handed it to me with a small smile.

Taking it from her, I removed the head band, tilted my head back, gulping half the bottle, then poured the rest over my face to cool down.

Ooty's weather has become more unpredictable with each passing year.

Lowering the bottle, I caught her gazing at me, her eyes shimmering with a dreamy look, as if no other thoughts existed in her mind.

Suppressing a chuckle, I sat beside her on the bench, twisting the cap back on the bottle.

But, she continued staring, unblinking.

Smirking, I turned, leaned closer, holding her gaze.

Her breath hitched, and just as her eyes began to flutter closed, I shook my head side to side, splashing her face with water droplets.

She squealed, placing her hands on my shoulders to steady herself.

"Aiyoo!"

She protested, laughing.

"Professorrrr!"

And as I kept shaking my head playfully, her left hand cupped my cheek, but her right brushed against my lips, making me pause.

I stilled, locking eyes with her.

Her breath caught once more as I leaned in, my lips barely grazing below her palm.

Then, with a playful smirk, I held her elbow gently and let the tip of my tongue brush against her wrist, teasing her further.

She shivered, and just as I leaned in further to kiss below her wrist to her forearm, she quickly pulled away, putting some distance between us.

Her cheeks flushed as she avoided my gaze, and before I could say anything, loud shouts of joy erupted from my football mates, shattering the moment.

Seetha jumped slightly, then, hurriedly packed her laptop and notes, her hands trembling slightly.

Biting my lips with a smile, I twisted my mustache and stood up, now standing before her.

And I waited as she slowly lifted her face to meet my gaze, her fingers carefully zipping her bag.

Blinking nervously, she asked,

"Towel eduthuttu varlayaa? Face'eh thodainga"

(Have you brought a towel? Wipe your face)

I wiped my face with my palms and shook my head at her.

"Yeah. Towel ulla changing room'le irukku, and I want to change my clothes too. You wait here. I'll be back"

(Yeah, the towel is in the changing room, and I want to change my clothes too. You wait here. I'll be back)

Taking a step towards the changing room after hearing her hum and nod in agreement with a small smile, I suddenly paused, a wave of unease filling me at the thought of leaving her alone.

So, turning back, I grabbed the straps of her bag and slung it over my shoulder. Then, reaching out, I took her hand in mine.

She frowned, clearly puzzled, but didn't resist as I gently led her inside the changing room.

Once there, she released my hand, and I let go too, turning to face her.

She looked around curiously before offering me a small, confused smile.

I kept my face neutral as I raised my hand above her head, leaning over her, suppressing my smile.

Instinctively, she leaned back against the door, her doe eyes wide with emotions.

A smirk tugged at my lips as I casually locked the door, pushing the latch into place.

She glanced towards the latch I had just locked, her eyes flickering with uncertainty as they looked back at me.

I pressed my palm against the door and used my other hand to tuck a few strands of her hair behind her ear.

Her breath hitched.

"You might have expected something else, Seetha"

I whispered, purposefully creating some space between us as I set her bag on a small wooden stool, and her soft gasp drew my attention.

I turned to find her eyes wide with surprise. And raising an eyebrow, I waited for her response.

But, she quickly averted her gaze, stammering,

"No... no... I wasn't!"

I hummed, my lips curving downward in a mock disappointment.

"Mmm. My bad, then"

Grabbing a spare set of track pants and a T-shirt from my rack, I turned to find her twisting her lips, muttering something under her breath.

Walking to the stool near her, I asked,

"Enna di monangura?"

(What are you mumbling to yourself?)

"Haan?"

She blinked at me, then quickly shook her head, whispering,

"Onnula"

(Nothing)

Suppressing a smile, I shook my head and stood before her.

Grabbing the hem of my sweat-soaked T-shirt, I pulled it off in one motion, feeling her sharp intake of breath.

Then, when I finally took it off completely, I noticed her wide-eyed gaze, as if she were seeing me like this for the first time.

Clearing my throat, I asked,

"Anything changed?"

I expected her to look away, flustered, or do something silly to distract herself. But to my surprise, she shook her head casually, her composure leaving me both amused and intrigued.

I chuckled softly, suppressing a laugh.

"Illayaa?"

(No?)

I asked, amused.

She shook her head again, her gaze unwavering.

I let out a chuckle without breaking her focus, but when her eyes wandered below my waistline, just like that day, a smirk tugged at my lips.

Biting my lower lip, I reached for the hem of my shorts and pretended to pull them down slightly.

"Heyyyy! Enna panrel?"

(What are you doing?)

She shouted, startled, her eyes wide and cheeks flushed.

I faked a frown and replied casually,

"What? Dress change panren. Idhu changing room. Don't you know?"

(What? I'm changing my clothes. This is the changing room, don't you know?)

Her gaze darted around the room before landing back on me.

I shook my head, pulling down my shorts again, but she squealed,

"Stop!"

Feigning annoyance, I placed my hands on my hips and asked,

"Enna problem, Seetha, unakku?"

(What is your problem, Seetha?)

She hit her forehead with her palm, exclaiming,

"Enna problem'ah? Nee...neenga dress change panna poringa!"

(What's the problem? You... you're going to change your dress!)

"Aama, panna poren"

(Yes, I am)

"Naan...naan unga munnaadi dha ninnutu irukken"

(I'm just standing here in front of you)

"Aama, ninnutu irukka. So what?"

(Yes, you are. So what?)

"So what'ah? Epdi.. naan unga munnaadi ipdi nikkumbodhu neenga epdi dress change pandringa?"

(So what'huh? How... how can you change your dress when I'm standing right in front of you?)

I narrowed my brows and asked,

"Epdi pandringlaa?"

(How can you, huh?)

"Haan!"

She nodded fervently, her eyes and mouth wide open.

"Yen? Panna koodaadhaa?"

(Why? Can't I do it?)

I asked, raising an eyebrow.

She blinked, her throat bobbing as she gulped.

But when I pretended to pull my shorts down further, she shrieked,

"Perumaaleyy!"

And turned away...

Chuckling, I grabbed the towel from the nearby hanger, tied it around my waist, and removed my shorts.

Just as I was about to put on my track pants, her loud shout startled me.

"Ammaaa!"

But before I could see what was wrong, I found myself falling backward onto the floor, landing between racks of clothes with a thud.

Groaning in pain, I opened my eyes to see her sprawled over me, her arms wrapped around my neck, her face buried in my bare chest.

"Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach!"

She chanted in a panicked mumble, clinging to me like her life depended on it.

But... I blinked my eyes.

And..

I realized my blunder and widened my eyes, looking at her as she lifted her face off my chest and blinked at me.

I swallowed hard, but she frowned and asked,

"Ennaachu, professor?"

(What happened, professor?)

Clearing my throat, I placed my hands on either sides of us on the floor, clenching them tightly to resist doing something inappropriate—something she might find uncomfortable—before we succeeded in our marriage.

But what has fate planned for me today?

Because, my girl seemed all in the mood today, leaning closer with her eyes closed, clearly intending to kiss me.

But I turned my face slightly when her lips brushed against mine, offering her my cheek instead. She planted a soft kiss there before pulling back, frowning at me.

I gave her a small smile, and she blinked in response, confused at my acts.

Gulping nervously, I glanced to my left, then to my right, before noticing her. She turned to look at her right side as well, and I seized the moment to lean closer to her ear.

I felt her clenching her thighs together against mine, and I exhaled softly near her ear, parting my lips, whispering,

"Babe"

She shuddered slightly, a soft, 'Hmm', escaping her lips.

"I'm naked"

I said.

Her heart thudded against my chest before coming to a sudden halt as my words registered.

She froze momentarily, then slowly turned to look down at me, her expression an amusing mixture of shock and nervousness.

And as the realization sank in, she gulped again, her cheeks flushing a deep red.

"Oh"

She murmured, laughing nervously, but her eyes soon widened in horror.

Letting out a startled gasp, she got off me and turned away, her back facing me as she fidgeted with her fingers. I quickly grabbed a towel, tying it around my waist.

Fisting my hands, I cursed my fate and my wild thoughts that were fighting to pull her back into my arms and do something, pinning her against the wall.

Shit! Why the fuck is deflowering forbidden before marriage?

I thought, running my fingers through my hair.

And, to distract myself, I dressed quickly, slipping into my T-shirt and pants, without seeing her.

Then, after a few minutes, I turned towards her and noticed she was still facing the wall, lost in her own world.

I packed my sweaty clothes into her travel bag along with her dresses, walked up to her, stood behind her, and cleared my throat.

"Seetha"

I called softly, but she didn't respond.

Tilting my head slightly, I peeked over her shoulder to see her pulling at her nails absentmindedly.

Straightening up, I sighed, leaving a small distance between us before calling her name again.

"Seetha"

Still no response.

"Seetha!"

This time, I raised my voice, and she flinched, startled. She spun around quickly, but before she could panic and fall over me like before, I steadied myself. Sure enough, her face slammed against my chest in her usual startled reaction.

Enough is enough!

Rolling my eyes, I gently took her hands off my shirt and leaned down, effortlessly throwing her over my shoulder.

"Hey! Professor! Enna pandrel?"

(What are you doing?)

She exclaimed, her voice muffled.

Ignoring her protests, I grabbed her bag, unlocked the door, and walked out.

Elango, who had just arrived, stood frozen in place, his eyes and mouth wide open at the sight of us. But, I walked past him with Seetha over my shoulder, her muffled grumbles and protests adding to the moment.

"Anna kaapaathunga"

(Bro, save me)

I sighed. This girl and her never ending silly dramas.

When we reached her house, I was practically dragging her by the wrist, ignoring her protests and shouts.

"Vidungo! Vidungo'nah! Naan sollinde irukken. Nillunga! Kaiya vidungo!"

(Leave me! Let me go! I am teling you! Wait! Leave my hand!)

She yelled, struggling against my hold.

Annoyed to the core, I twirled her around to face me and pinned her against the wall beside the door, her hand trapped above her head.

She gasped, her wide eyes staring at me as I leaned in slightly and whispered,

"Amaidhiyaa vara poriyaa illayaa di nee ippo?"

(Are you going to shut your mouth or not, huh?)

She blinked at me, her breath catching in her throat as she got silent at last.

Slowly, I released her hand, stepped back, and turned my head to inspect the house.

But, the door was locked.

I glanced back at her, and she quickly averted her gaze to the door, frowning.

She walked up to it and started fiddling with the latch in an attempt to unlock it.

Sighing, I said,

"Maa, pooteerka door'eh key illaama open panna mudiyaadhu, ma"

(Mom, you can't open the locked door without the key, ma)

She shot me a glare, pulled her phone out of her kurta's pants, and unlocked it.

For a moment, I was distracted, raising a brow in amusement.

Wait... do kurta pants have pockets?

I wondered to myself.

But before I could ask, she huffed in frustration, shoved her phone back into her pocket, and walked past me without a word.

"Ennaachu, ma?"

(What happened, ma?)

I asked, confused, but she ignored me, striding away briskly.

Frowning, I followed her.

"Enga Seetha pora?"

(Where are you leaving, Seetha?)

I shouted, but she didn't respond.

Just as I was about to yell again loudly, she suddenly quickened her pace and broke into a run—heading straight towards my house.

My eyes widened in disbelief.

"Hey, nildriii!"

(Hey, stay there!)

I yelled, grabbing her bag from my bike and sprinting after her.

But, she didn't stop until she reached my house, halting abruptly right in front of the door.

I caught up, grabbed her elbow, and yanked her towards me.

She turned to face me with a smug smile, and winked at me, while I stood there, panting and frowning at her.

But, I jerked back, instinctively pushing her away when I heard a voice behind me call out,

"Maapla!"

(Aayush!)

Startled, I turned around to find her parents, my father, a few of her relatives, and an old lady sitting in my living room. Then, my eyes landed on Maya, who was sitting comfortably on the couch, looking at me, while some of the others squinted at me suspiciously and also smiled at me affectionately.

Gulping nervously, I opened my mouth to greet them, but before I could get a word out, Seetha squealed,

"Heyyy, Paarvathyyyyy!"

To my utter shock, she kicked off her slippers and ran inside with her arms spread wide. She then threw herself at the old lady, hugging her neck from behind the couch and planting a loud kiss on her cheek.

I stood there, stunned, watching her as she grinned like a child.

But, I gave everyone a slightly nervous smile and walked inside, slipping off my shoes.

And as I stepped in, Seetha's father rose from the couch and placed an arm around my shoulder, his warm demeanor helping ease my tension.

"Maapla"

He began, gesturing towards the others.

"Ivanga Seetha oda chithappa, chithi... idhu mama, maami..."

(These are our relatives)

I offered them a polite smile, and they returned it, kindly.

"Apro... ivanga ennoda amma, Seetha oda paati, Paarvathy"

(Then.. she is my mother and Seetha's grandmother, Paarvathy)

He said, pointing to an elderly woman seated comfortably.

I turned to her and smiled, but she reached out and gave Seetha a light tap on the head.

"Loosu pulla..."

(You crazy girl)

She chided, shaking her head.

Seetha whined dramatically before plopping down beside her grandmother.

Then, to my surprise, the elderly woman turned to me with a wide grin and extended her arms.

"Vaanga da, thango paati kitta!"

(You young man, come to your grandma!)

I blinked, glancing over my shoulder, wondering if she was calling someone else.

But the space behind me was empty.

"Unna dha pa, vaa..."

(I am calling you, dear. Come to me..)

She clarified, blinking expectantly.

I smiled nervously, walking towards her.

But, she pulled me down to sit beside her with a thud and cupped my left cheek in her palm, her touch unexpectedly affectionate.

"Nokku... romba periya manasu da, kozhandha"

(You really have a big heart, dear)

She said, her gaze soft but teasing.

I frowned slightly, unsure of what to say, but I returned her smile.

So, she continued,

"Ivala aaru kalyanam panneekka poraanga. Kadaisi vara ipdiye dha iruppaa'nu nenachen. Paathaa ippo nee maatikitta!"

(I thought, who would marry her? She would remain like this till the end. But now, look, you've been caught by her)

Her words made me blink in surprise, and the room erupted in laughter.

"Paatiiii!"

(Grandma!)

Seetha shrieked, her face scrunched up in protest.

I chuckled at her reaction, but her grandmother simply ignored her and lovingly patted my cheek.

"Un porumaiya kedukura maadhiri dha pannuvaa ellaame"

(She will do everything as if she's testing your patience.)

She said, shaking her head with mock exasperation.

"Aana porumaiya mattum vitraadha, pa. Vittuta'nu vachukko... avlodhaa ellaa paliyum unmela thooki pottutu odeervaa!"

(But don't you ever lose your patience, dear. If you let go of that, she will turn everything around to you and run off!)

I chuckled again, thoroughly amused by her words, but Seetha couldn't stay silent.

"Aaru Paarvathy?!"

(Who are you talking about, Paarvathy?)

She protested, folding her arms.

"Naan porumaiyaa irukka maatenaa? Illa nee porumaiyaa irukka maatiyaa?"

(Me or you?)

Her grandmother rolled her eyes and turned to Seetha, smacking her thigh gently.

"Naan en peran'te peseetu irukken. Nee amaidhiyaa utkaaru di!"

(I'm talking to my grandson. You stay quiet, young lady!)

She scolded.

Though I tried to maintain a neutral expression, I was stunned.

Seetha's eyes widened in disbelief as she exclaimed,

"Ungalukku peran'na apro nekku epdi?"

(Your grandson? Then, what is he to me?)

Her grandmother scoffed, and replied,

"Ada... nokku, avan un purushan di!"

(Girl.. he is your husband)

"Appo naan aaru nokku?"

(Then what am I to you?)

Seetha asked, her tone rising in frustration.

"En pethi

(My grand-daughter)

Her grandmother replied straightforwardly.

"Appo avaa?"

(Then what about him?)

Seetha gestured towards me, her confusion deepening.

Her grandmother turned to me with a wide smile, pinching my cheek, saying,

"En peran"

(My grandson)

"Aiyoooooo, Perumaleyyy!"

(Oh my god!)

Seetha exclaimed, leaning back dramatically and burying her face in her hands.

The entire room burst into laughter, while I sat there smiling, thoroughly entertained by their bickering.

After dinner, as the sudden rain poured heavily, everyone decided to stay at our house at my father's insistence.

Now, I was in the kitchen, washing dishes alongside my soon-to-be mother-in-law.

She shared stories about the bond between Paarvathy Paati and Seetha, which were both amusing and heartwarming.

Meanwhile, Seetha was in the guestroom with my father, her father, and Maya, next to the room where Paarvathy Paati was staying.

I laughed at some of the tales about Seetha and her grandmother's playful antics, though a pang of sympathy hit me for my woman. Paarvathy Paati's exaggerated complaints had clearly landed Seetha in trouble, and she had endured a fair share of scolding from her father.

Once the dishes were done, I told Seetha's mom to get some rest. She smiled warmly and left, while I finished cleaning the kitchen, turned off the lights, and checked to ensure the house doors were locked.

On my way to my room, I suddenly paused in the hallway, noticing that the door to Paarvathy Paati's room was slightly ajar. I stepped closer, intending to close it, but stopped when I saw a faint glow of light spilling out from within.

I couldn't resist my curiosity and stole a quick glance inside.

The room was quiet, with a soft, dim light illuminating its corners. Paarvathy Paati was sound asleep, her breathing calm and steady.

And, my gaze shifted, and my frown deepened as I noticed Seetha seated in a plastic chair beside the bed.

She had her legs propped up on the edge of the bed, her toes curled slightly, and she leaned back in the chair. In her right hand, she held her phone, the faint glow from the screen illuminating her face, while her left hand rested near her mouth. She was absentmindedly biting her thumbnail, her eyes fixed on the screen with curiosity.

But also there was a flicker of nervousness and restlessness as I noticed her gulping repeatedly.

However, my eyes widened in realization as she suddenly stood up hurriedly from the chair.

I quickly turned around, pressing myself against the wall to stay hidden, and heard the sound of the chair clattering to the ground.

"Chumma padu di. Thookatha kedukaadha"

(Sleep quietly, girl. Don't disturb me)

Her grandmother mumbled groggily, her voice thick with sleep.

Then the room fell silent for a few moments, making me curious.

And I risked another peek inside.

To my surprise, Seetha was no longer on the chair. Instead, she was lying beside her grandmother on the bed, completely hidden under the duvet.

Only the faint rise and fall of the blanket hinted at her presence.

I frowned, narrowing my brows.

Why is she behaving like this?

I wondered.

Apdi enna phone'le paathuttu irundhaa?

(What could she have been looking at on her phone?)

Shaking my head, I quietly closed the door and made my way to my room. Once inside, I locked the door, changed into my shorts, and refreshed myself. Yet, her strange behavior lingered in my mind, the vivid image of her red face lit by the phone's glow refusing to fade.

The way her toes curled, how she bit her nails, and even the momentary biting of her lips—it all felt like pieces of a puzzle I couldn't solve.

The more I thought about it, the more questions bubbled up.

What could have made her so flustered and hurried suddenly?

But I groaned, realizing I couldn't even ask her in person now, with the house crowded with her relatives.

So, deciding to confront her about it tomorrow, I sighed, stretched out on my bed, and placed an arm beneath my head. My bare chest rose and fell as I stared at the ceiling, her expressions and actions looping in my thoughts.

Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I drifted off to sleep with a strange sense of relief.

For the first time, our house felt fuller, with more people than just me and Appa.

It brought a comforting sense of contentment and a huge responsibility.

Seetha has more people around her who loved and cared for her, and that made me realize I needed to be even more careful.

I have to give her all my love and soul, ensuring her safety and happiness in the future—our future.

I shouldn't let her feel, even for a single moment, that she would have been safer or more loved with her parents and relatives than with me.

Nor should I allow myself to think that she might have been happier with them. I needed to be responsible, trustworthy, and wholehearted in loving and protecting her.

In the end, she has to be mine, and I have to be hers.
