Aayush

The Next Phase of Our Love Life

A week after our steamy gym makeout session, I found myself sitting beside her-my lovely girlfriend, and fiancée as well.

But, she was visibly more nervous than me, her doe eyes darting nervously around the cabin. Her fingers fidgeted with the zipper of her handbag, sliding it open and closed as she bit her lip and wet them repeatedly.

The sight made me smile.

Gently, I placed my hand on the back of her neck, and she turned towards me, her eyes wide with unease. I gave her a reassuring smile, patting the back of her head. She exhaled a soft breath and mirrored my smile, though it was shaky. Turning back to face the front, I kept my hand resting on her, a small gesture of support.

But, we stood abruptly when we heard the door creak open.

"Sorry to keep you both waiting!"

A man dressed in crisp white pants and a shirt entered the room, his steps confident yet unhurried. He walked past us and took his seat at the desk in front of us, gesturing for us to sit with a warm smile.

We returned the smile politely and sank back into our chairs.

"Sollunga..."

(Tell me)

He prompted gently.

I exchanged a brief glance with Seetha before turning to the man.

Then, clearing my throat, I began,

"Mr. Raman, I am Aayush Kumar, and this is my fiancée, Ms. Seetha"

The man's smile widened as he responded,

"Oh, hi. Nice to meet you both. How can I help you today?"

"Actually, engalukku oru football coaching ground start pannanum"

(Actually, we want to start a football coaching ground)

I stated with a little hesitation, but he smiled, nodding thoughtfully, and asked,

"That's so great! Epdi indha idea? I mean... is there any motivational story or something behind this amazing step?"

(That's so great! How did this idea come about? I mean... is there any motivational story or something behind this amazing step?)

But before I could explain, Seetha's excited voice interrupted me as she exclaimed,

"It's his dream, Mr. Raman. Naraya football matches velayaandu naraya win panni irukkaaru... he has so much potential to start this and win by teaching others"

(It's his dream, Mr. Raman. He's played in many football matches and won a lot of them... he has so much potential to start this and win by teaching others)

I looked at her with a smile as she proudly exclaimed my achievements, and dreams, her doe eyes wide with advanced pride, tapping my shoulder with her little palm.

Then, turning back to Mr. Raman, I noticed his lips curve into an appreciative smile before he shifted his gaze to me and said,

"That's really awesome, Mr. Aayush. Then, plots edhaadhu shortlist panni irukkinglaa?"

(That's really awesome, Mr. Aayush. So, have you shortlisted any plots yet?)

"Yeah. Fern hill'ku pakkathula engalukku oru land irukku... so, planning to start it there"

(Yeah. We have a land near Fern Hill... planning to start it there)

I replied, and he knitted his brows thoughtfully before saying,

"Fern hill is a great choice. But, flat aana plots'laa anga romba rare dha, Mr. Aayush. Namma ground, leveling pandradhukku correct'ah irukkaadhu'nu nenaikiren. Since it's an area with slopes. And even if you want to level it... it may cost you more"

(Fern Hill is a great choice. But flat plots are quite rare there, Mr. Aayush. I believe the ground there, might not be suitable for leveling because it's an area with slopes. And even if you want to level it, it may cost you more)

He gave his idea, but it made me feel a little low on confidence about this new step.

But,

"How much would a plot cost in those sloped areas?"

Seetha asked him.

He paused for a moment, then replied,

"₹3 crore to ₹4 crore, just for the plot. Maybe"

I felt a wave of disappointment.

Is this too much to dream?

I wondered.

But she didn't seem to care about any of that as she confidently asked,

"Then, leveling pandradhukku evlo aagum?"

(Then, how much would it cost to level the land?)

"₹15-₹20 lakh"

"Ohh. That's only for the sloped areas, right?"

"Yes"

"So, appo flat aana areas irundhaa leveling amount theva padaadhaa?"

(So, if it's a flat area, would there be no need for leveling?)

"Theva padaadhu'nu solla mudiyaadhu. But, amount of work and cost kammi'aah irukkum"

(Can't say there's no need for leveling. But, the amount of work and cost would be much lower)

Seetha looked at me. I glanced at her and shook my head, but she smiled softly, placing her hand on my thigh before turning back to Mr. Raman and saying,

"Sir. Naanga idhudha first time. Indha maadhiri land pathi'laa therinjukardhu. We really want to start a coaching ground, but we're starting from zero. Actual'ah ivaroda appa solli dha naanga ungala meet panna vandhom to get clear on the whole process before we take the next step"

(Sir, this is our first time. We don't really know much about land or plots like this. We really want to start a coaching ground, but we're starting from zero. Actually, we came to meet you because of his father's advice. He suggested we meet you to get clear on the whole process before we take the next step)

"Oh. Who's your father, by the way?"

He asked me.

"Paarthiv Raj"

I replied.

His face turned amused as he exclaimed,

"Paarthiv uncle'oda paiyanaa neenga?"

(You're Paarthiv uncle's son?)

I just smiled at him.

"Idhadha neenga first enkitta solli irukkanum. Avaru enkitta yerkanave ungala pathi solleerkaaru. Like, ungaloda dreams pathi'laam. So, I'll connect you with a few real estate agents who specialize in sports and commercial properties in Ooty soon. They'll guide you through the options, and I can visit the sites with you to assess the construction feasibility as well. Okay?"

(You should have told me this first. He's mentioned you to me before. Like, he's even talked about your dreams. So, I'll connect you with a few real estate agents who specialize in sports and commercial properties in Ooty soon. They'll guide you through the options, and I can visit the sites with you to assess the construction feasibility as well. Okay?)

He asked us. I looked at Seetha, who turned towards me with a smile, and I intertwined my fingers with hers, which was resting on my thigh.

Then, turning back to look at Mr. Raman, I said,

"Thank you so much, Mr. Raman"

"That's my pleasure, Mr. Aayush Kumar. I'm really happy to help you. Neenga unga dream mattum illa.. indha ground mooliyamaa neenga innum naraya peroda football dream'eh acheive panna vaikardhukku ennoda advance wishes"

(That's my pleasure, Mr. Aayush Kumar. I'm really happy to help you. Your dream isn't just yours-through this ground, you'll help many others achieve their football dreams as well. My best wishes to you in advance)

I stood up along with him and shook his hand with a smile.

Seetha also stood up and shook his hand while I held her other hand with mine.

After thanking him and sharing my phone number, we left the place. Seetha gripped our intertwined fingers tightly, then placed her other hand on my bicep, leaning into it. I smiled down at her, gently tapping her handbag, which I was holding, against her face, calling out,

"Oi"

She whined, pushing the handbag off her face, and looked up at me with a pout.

I smiled, wriggled my hand out from hers, and wrapped it around her shoulder, pulling her into my embrace. Her lips curled, and she lowered her head before looking straight ahead, biting her lower lip as her smile slowly faded.

Frowning, I moved my hand to her waist teasingly, she shrieked, pushing me away and I jerked to my left, laughing, and she punched my bicep, whining.

I chuckled, caught her hand again, and intertwined our fingers.

"Enna ma yosikira?"

(What's up with you, ma?)

I asked her, softly.

"Onnula. Land enga poi paakalaam?"

(Nothing. Where can we go to see the land?)

"Adhaa Raman help pandren'nu solleerkaare?"

(Raman said he would help with that, right?)

"Adhukku? Nammalum paakanum'le?"

(So what? We also need to see it, right?)

She asked back. I averted my gaze from her and said,

"Yes. Right. Adha naan paathukuren. Nee yen ippo adha yosikira?"

(Yes. Right. I'll take care of that. Why are you thinking about it now?)

"Enna ipdi kekurel? Naan yosikka koodaadhaa? The ground is yours, professor. Nekkum adhu nalla padiyaa varanum'nu aasa irukkaadhaa?"

(Why are you asking like this? Am I not allowed to think? The ground is yours, professor. Don't I have the hope that it should turn out well for me too?)

But her words made me frown, and I said,

"Mine? It's ours, Seetha"

She gave me a smile and shook her head.

"Illa, professor. Adhu ungaloda dream. Ungaloda ground"

(No, professor. It's your dream. Your ground)

"Enna di ipdi pirichu pesura?"

(Why are you speaking like we are some separate individuals?)

I asked, and she chuckled before holding our intertwined hands with her other hand as well, swaying them a little in the air, saying,

"Pirichu pesala, pa. Neenga sambaarichu katra ground'ah irukkanum'nu aasa padren. Avlodha"

(I'm not speaking separately, pa. I wish to see the ground become only yours. That's all)

"Appo nee share kudukka poradhu illa'nu soldra?"

(So, you're saying you won't share in that, right?)

I asked her teasingly, with a fake serious tone.

"Mch, naan yeppo apdi sonnen?"

(Mch, when did I ever say that?)

"Nee dhane sonna naan sambarichadhu mattum vachu katra ground'ah irukkanum'nu?"

(Didn't you say that you wish to see the ground become mine through my earnings alone?)

"Naan 'mattum' apdi'nu sollave illaye?"

(I didn't say anything like 'alone')

I sighed.

"Seethaaa...nee enna sonnaalum seri. The future ground is going to be ours! Avlodha. End of the discussion"

(Seethaaa... whatever you say, it's fine. The future ground is going to be ours! That's it. End of the discussion)

"Aana.."

(But..)

"Enough, Seetha. Please..."

She pouted and fell silent. I sighed, watching her walk beside me, but she still didn't pull away from our intertwined hands.

To lighten her mood, I glanced around the parking lot as we walked towards our parked bike. I let out a deep sigh, catching her attention. She looked at me with raised eyebrows, then furrowed them in confusion.

"Hot'ah irukku, ma"

(It's hot)

I said, and she threw me a smirk, her mood lightening visibly.

"Hey, nejama hot'ah irukku, di"

(Hey, it's really hot, girl)

She twisted her lips at me, but her eyes widened as she turned towards me when I said,

"Indha shirt buttons mattum konjo kalatti viden?"

(Will you just undo a few of these shirt buttons?)

She shot me a suspicious look and asked,

"Yen? Unga kai enna pannudhu?"

(Why? What is your hand doing?)

"Mmm.. see oru kai un kaiya puduchirukku, innoru kai un bag'eh pudichirukku"

(Hmm... see, one hand is holding your hand, and the other is holding your bag)

She glanced at the things I pointed out and tried to wriggle her hand free from mine, but I tightened my grip. Then she attempted to pull her handbag from my hold, but I raised it high above my head, making her roll her eyes at me.

"Are you rolling your eyes at me, Seetha?"

I asked, amused.

She smiled mischievously, then focused on the bag and stood on her toes, trying to grab it. In response, I leaned back, holding the bag just out of her reach, making her stand straight again and pout at me in defeat.

"Seri.. ennamo pannunga"

(Fine.. do whatever you want)

Ennamo pannungalaa?

(Whatever I want?)

"Oh. Ennamo pandradhaa?"

(Oh. Shall I do whatever I want?)

She frowned but took the bag from me. Before she could pull it completely from my hand, I quickly grabbed her hand along with the bag, yanked her towards me, and she collided into my chest with her eyes and mouth wide open. Before she could react, I leaned in and kissed her cheek, leaving her stunned.

I then quickly ran away, and she chased after me, shouting,

"Nillunga, professor!!"

(Stop running, professor!)

Laughing, I hopped on the bike, but as I turned to look at her, my laughter faded. My eyes grew cold, and I immediately got off the bike in a fury.

Rolling up my sleeves, I marched towards the person, grabbing his collar and pulling him up to my face, glaring at him with a deadly stare.

"You bastard! How dare you touch my woman?"

I growled, my voice filled with anger.

But, he smirked, unfazed, and calmly asked,

"Your woman? In what sense?"

I gritted my teeth and lashed,

"I am her fiancé. You fucking filth!!"

However, he chuckled and asked,

"Fiancé? Appo naan yaaru?"

(Fiancé? Then who am I?)

My jaws clenched in anger, and I cursed him to his face before raising my fisted hand to punch him. But a firm grip stopped my wrist midway, and I heard,

"Professor. Please, vidunga. Namma polaam.. avara vitrunga. Ellaarum paakuraanga, sir. Please.. vitrunga avara"

(Professor. Please, let him go. Let's go. Leave him. Everyone is watching, sir. Please... let him go)

She pleaded while trying to pull me away, gripping my elbow, but my anger intensified when I saw his smirk deepening.

So, without thinking, I landed a powerful punch on his cheek, making him jerk to the side, holding his cheek.

I grabbed his shirt again, ready to strike, but then I heard her shout,

"Aayush!!!!"

Instantly, my eyes softened, and Seetha pulled me back, gripping my shirt near my waist. Reluctantly, I let go of him, giving him one last push backward. He stumbled, but steadied himself, straightened his shirt, and dusted it off, still smirking.

But, my glare hardened as his gaze shifted from me to Seetha, and I felt my anger flare again. So, I just grabbed her wrist and dragged her away, out of the parking lot, my steps fueled by pure rage.

She followed me silently, not saying a word.

After a few minutes, my mouth opened when I heard,

"Professoreyy!"

She offered me something to eat, pushing it into my mouth with her hand, but I wasn't in the mood to care about what it was. My mind was entirely consumed by the curly-haired man's words.

Fiancé? Appo naan yaaru?

(Fiancé? Then who am I?)

I gulped, and my gaze fell on her hands, on her fingers, which showed no sign of our engagement.

As she fed me again, I took the bite without saying anything, hearing her voice softly, saying,

"Vidunga, professor. Avan kedakuraan. Ellaam jealous. Avlodha. Neenga.."

(Let it go, professor. He's just jealous. That's all. You..)

But she stopped herself mid-sentence when I gently held both of her hands in mine and gazed into her eyes. She looked back into my eyes and I asked,

"Seetha... why.. why can't we exchange a ring?"

Her lips curved into a soft smile, and she shyly asked,

"Yedhukku, professor?"

(For what, professor?)

"Nee enakku dha'nu nammala, namma parents, namma friends, un relatives thavara vera yaarukkum theriyaadhu, Seetha"

(You're mine, Seetha. But no one else knows that except for our parents, our friends, and your relatives)

"Adhunaala enna, professor? Anyway namma marriage apro theriya poradhu dhane?"

(So what, professor? Anyway, everyone will know about that after our marriage, right?)

But, I shook my head.

"Illa, Seetha. I want everyone to know. I want.."

I cupped her left cheek.

"Everyone to know that this precious is mine. Only mine.. ellaarukkum theriyanum"

(Everyone should know that)

She smiled and bowed her head, saying,

"On your command, sir!"

I chuckled at her playful antics and patted her cheek. After having lunch at the restaurant, we headed back to the parking lot and then to her house.

Amidst my struggles to wriggle out from her hold, she literally pulled me inside her house. But, I stopped her, exclaiming in a low voice,

"Seri iru, di. Shoe'vaadhu kalattikiren"

(Alright, let me at least remove my shoes, you woman)

"Apdiye kalattunga"

(Remove it)

She said, grabbing my left hand. I sighed and used my right hand to remove my shoes.

Then, we headed inside, with her hands curled around my arm.

Suddenly, she shouted,

"Amma!!!! Aaru vandhirukkaa paaru!"

(Mom!!!! Look who has come!)

I felt a wave of nervousness wash over me, knowing this was only the second time I was visiting her house.

The first time was when I had come to ask her parents' permission to send her on a tour with us, as her professor.

But now, here I was, standing so close to her with her arms curled around my bicep as an engaged couple.

It felt surreal. Blessed. Like home.

Soon, her mother entered, greeting me warmly and telling me to sit.

She and Seetha then left me alone in the hall, saying they would bring me coffee. I shook my head, settling down on the couch, my hands nervously patting my thighs as I looked around for her father, but he was nowhere to be seen.

I let out a breath, placed my left arm on the headrest behind me, and my fingers toyed with the locket around my neck. And, I couldn't shake the feeling of bore, nervousness, and an awkward mix of emotions all at once.

Just as I was about to grab my phone to distract myself while waiting for the duo to return with the coffee, my gaze landed on the locket.

A smile tugged at my lips as I saw it still in perfect condition, the wax protecting the ring just like how Seetha has been loving me despite everything that had happened between us.

With a soft smile, I found myself lost in the memories from our trip.

Then, a idea crossed my mind, one that brought an unexpected smile to my face. But before I could dwell on it further, I cleared my throat and straightened up when I heard footsteps approaching.

I looked up to see Seetha and her mother walking towards me. Seetha handed me a cup with her left hand, holding another cup for herself in the other. I smiled and took the cup from her, and she sat beside me on the couch, leaving a respectful amount of distance between us. Her mother settled in the sofa chair next to us with her own cup of coffee.

"Pona kaariyam ennaachu?"

(What happened to the matter that you both went to look for?)

She asked, looking at both of us. I gulped, unsure of how to start the conversation, but before I could say anything, Seetha began explaining.

"Oru land paakanum, ma. Flat aana land irundhaa leveling panna amount kammi'ah theva padum'nu sonnaa. Apro, mama peru sonnadhum, avanga engalukku real estate'kaaranga contacts'laa thandhu help pandren, neengalum pesi paarunga'nu sonnaa.."

(We need to see a land, mom. They said if it's a flat land, the cost for leveling it will be lower. Then, when we mentioned mama's name, he said he would help us by providing real estate brokers' contact numbers and also suggested that we speak with them to know more about it)

"Oh. Appo, appa kittayum solli vainga. Avarum avarukku therinjavanga kitta keppaaru"

(Oh. Then, tell your dad as well. He also knows people who are knowledgeable and can help)

"Aahn. Seri, ma"

(Okay, ma)

I gave her mother a smile, and she returned it before I shifted my gaze elsewhere.

Seetha's eyes were on me, but I avoided looking at her, pretending to be oblivious, to prevent any awkwardness in front of her mother.

I couldn't understand why, even though we were engaged, I still felt this awkwardness and nervousness whenever I was around her parents or inside her house.

"Appa veetukku vandhuttaaraa, maapla?"

(Has your dad come home, son?)

I choked at her sudden question and the word "maapla," then felt Seetha rubbing my back and patting the top of my head as they both softly exclaimed,

"Paathu paathu"

(Careful)

Then, the coughs subsided, and I gave her mother an apologetic smile.

"I am sorry... It's... it's just..."

"Paravala, maapla. Idhula enna irukku? Naan dha takku'nu kettuten.."

(No problem, son. What's wrong with this? I was just..)

"Aiyo. Illa'nga.. Naan.. I am sorry.. And, appa.. appa nethu night dha veetukku vandhaaru.. and he's doing good"

(Oh no, it's okay... I'm sorry... And, dad... Dad came home last night... and he's doing good)

"Nalladhu, thambi..kudunga"

(Well.. give that to me)

She stretched her hand towards me. I gulped, glancing down at the empty cup in my hand before handing it to her with a smile. She took the cup from me, then Seetha, and went into the kitchen.

I sighed, leaning back on the couch, feeling her gaze on me from the corner of my eye. Biting the inside of my cheeks, I shifted a little closer, throwing my arm over the headrest of the couch behind her and looked down at her. She grinned at me teasingly.

"En amma'nah ivlo bayamaa ungalukku?"

(Is my mother really that scary to you?)

I rolled my eyes, averting my gaze from her and said,

"Nervous'ah irukku, di. Naan'laa ipdi yaarkittayum avlovaa pesunadhu illa"

(I am nervous, girl. I'm not the type to speak so casually with everyone)

She smiled, moved a little closer, and I turned to see what she was up to. But, my eyes widened when she lifted herself slightly to match my height and pecked my lips.

"Hey! Un amma vandhura poraanga, ma"

(Hey! Your mother might come, ma)

"Vara maataanga. Neenga avanga munnaadi nervous'ah irukkinga'nu therinju dha ulla poitaanga"

(She won't come. She knew that you were nervous in front of her, so she went inside)

I clicked my tongue.

"Mch, romba over'ah pandranaa?"

(Am I overreacting?)

"Aama"

(Yes)

I raised my brows.

"Illa"

(No)

She shifted even closer, and I smiled, wrapping my arms around her and lifting her onto my lap as she let out a surprised shriek, her eyes and mouth wide open.

"Professorrrr!"

She whispered in disbelief as she settled on my lap, her feet resting on the armrest of the couch.

"Seetha.."

I cupped her cheek, making sure she was comfortable on my lap, and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, savoring the moment.

Then, looking into her eyes, I smiled as she returned the gesture, placing her hands gently on my chest over my black shirt.

My thumb traced her dimpled cheek.

"You're beautiful"

Her smile widened.

"Am I looking old?"

As expected, her smile faded.

"Purila?"

(I can't understand?)

"Un professor romba old'ah theriyuranaa?"

(Do you think your professor looks too old?)

She stared at me in disbelief, but, fisting my collar, she started shaking me back and forth while whining,

"Enna professor neenga ipdi kekrel?"

(Why are you asking me like this, professor?)

I laughed at her pouty face and gently cupped both of her cheeks with my hands.

"Okay, Ms. Whiny. Naan yedhuvum kaekkala. Now, stop whining!"

(Okay, Ms. Whiny. I won't ask anything. Now, stop whining!)

I grabbed her wrists to stop her from shaking me, but she swatted my hands away and tried to get up from my lap.

"Hey. Enga pora?"

(Hey, where are you going?)

"Naan unga kooda pesa maaten"

(I won't speak with you)

I smiled and yanked her back to me, pulling her onto my lap and holding her wrist. She leaned back against my chest, with her heels resting on the table in front of her, sitting comfortably, though partially on my stomach, which made me wince a little, saying,

"Yeii, vaithulayae utkaaradha, ma"

(Hey, don't sit on my stomach, ma)

"Aiyo, sorry."

She shifted slightly in my lap to sit more comfortably, making me sigh. I grabbed her waist to stop her from moving and pulled her closer, wrapping my arms around her and resting my chin on her shoulder.

"Seethaa.."

She leaned her head against mine and hummed softly,

"Mmm"

I took her hand and gently guided it to my cheek, saying,

"Let's get engaged"

She tilted her head, and I shifted slightly away to see her frowning face.

"Purila?"

(I couldn't understand?)

I smiled and asked,

"Proposal gift venaamaa?"

(You don't want the proposal gift?)

Her eyes twinkled instantly, and a smile began to form on her lips as she said,

"Haiii! Naan adha marandhe poiten. Kudunga kudunga!"

(Haiii! I completely forgot about that. Give it to me, give it to me!)

I chuckled and said,

"En bike'le irukku.. poi eduthuttu vandhurtumaa?"

(It's in my bike... shall I go get it?)

"Okayy!"

And I loosened my hold around her as she kissed my cheek. I looked at her, amused.

But, she grinned, jumped off my lap, and ran into the room opposite the living room.

She's in a sugar rush, all caught up in her kissy mode!

Shaking my head, I stepped outside to get the box. When I returned, I stopped in my tracks as I saw her father about to enter the house, removing his slippers.

He then turned towards me, his face breaking into a wide smile.

"Adadey, maapla. Vaanga vaanga"

(Ohw, maapla. Come, come)

I gave him a slight smile and walked towards him as he greeted me warmly.

"Vanakkam, maapla. Ippodha vare'laa?"

(Hello, are you just arriving now?)

"Illa. Appove vandhutten. Seetha kooda. Ippo.."

(No. I came before itself. With Seetha. Now..)

I gulped and pocketed the box into my pants pocket, and his face frowned as he asked,

"Appo innum inga enna thambi pandrel?"

(Then why are you still here?)

"Illa.. oru.. oru call vandhadhu adhaa.."

(No, it's just... I got a call... so..)

"Oh.. seri seri ulla vaanga.. Ananthi.."

(Oh.. okay, okay, come inside.. Ananthi..)

He called out as he stepped inside, and I followed him in.

"Illa naan avangala yerkanave paathutten"

(No, I had already met her)

I thought he was calling his wife to introduce me, but she came outside and took the bag from him instead.

Oh. Shit!

I gave him an awkward smile as he returned a slight smile, then I quietly walked over to the couch and sat down. He headed into the room next to the kitchen.

Then, I noticed Seetha coming out from the kitchen, raising her brows and scrunching her face at me. That made me relax a little, and I shook my head at her with a smile. She returned the smile, and her mother said something before they both went back into the kitchen, leaving me alone. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

But after a few minutes, I saw her hurrying towards me like a kid from the kitchen with something in her hand.

She stopped right in front of me, bent down slightly, and stretched her hand towards my mouth, saying,

"Idha saaptu paarunga"

(Taste this)

I opened my mouth without even asking what it was and chewed it, letting the flavor settle before glancing at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Epdi irukku?"

(How is it?)

I noddd my head.

"Nallaarku, ma. Ennadhu?"

(So good. What it is?)

"Inippu seedai. Naan dha senjuttu irukken. Maavu sweet correct'ah irukkaa?"

(It's sweet seedai. I am making it. Is the dough sweet enough?)

I smiled and said,

"Perfect, madam"

"Thank you, sir"

She patted my cheek forcefully, and amused, I reached out to pat her back playfully, but stopped, let my hand fall, and she straightened up, creating some space between us as her father emerged from his room and walked to the kitchen, oblivious to us.

Then, Seetha flashed me a mischievous grin, I shook my head, and opened my mouth to warn her not to do anything silly, but before I could speak, she reached for my cheek.

And I grabbed her wrist, stopping her.

"Just go, Seetha. Don't plan anything silly"

"Mudiyaadhu, professor"

(I won't stop, professor)

She stretched her other hand towards my other cheek, but I gave her an amused smile again and grabbed that hand with my other hand, stopping her.

"Nice try, but not happening"

I said with a playful grin.

"Mhumm"

She shook her head with a grin and yanked her hands away from my grip, but in doing so, she lost her balance and fell onto me.

I groaned at the sudden weight but my eyes widened in surprise. She quickly stood up, her cheeks flushed a deep red, and I could tell she realized as well exactly where she'd touched me.

Gulping, I stood up as well, adjusting my shirt and clearing my throat awkwardly.

"Washroom?"

I asked, trying to break the tension.

She slowly pointed towards the room at the corner of the living room, beneath the stairs. Without saying a word, I nodded and walked towards it, closing the door behind me with a relieved sigh.

What am I going to do with this woman!?

Adjusting my pants with a groan, I stepped into the restroom, hoping to cool down and shake off the lingering effect of her touch on me, down there.

When I emerged, feeling a bit more composed, I found the three of them sitting on the couch engaged in conversation.

Smiling, I walked over and joined them, settling beside Seetha as her parents occupied the rest of the long sofa. Offering her parents a polite smile, I glanced down at the plate of sweets Seetha held out to me.

Taking a piece, I popped it into my mouth, sneaking a look at her. But, she avoided my gaze, and I bit my lower lip to stifle the smile threatening to spread across my face.

Ah, paapa is all shy now!

But, upon hearing,

"Seetha ground leveling pathi'laa sonna, maapla. Naanu nekku therinja real estate kaaranga kittlaam solli vakkiren"

(Seetha told regarding the ground leveling, maapla, I'll talk to the real estate people I know)

I managed a slight thankful smile towards her father and replied,

"Thank you, sir"

"Sir'ah? Enna thambi innum sir'nu? Mama'nu koopdunga"

(Sir? Why are you still calling him sir? Call him mama)

Seetha's mother said. I gave her a smile, but before I could say anything, Seetha chimed in,

"Maa! Avarukku thonumbodhu koopdattum.. compel pannaadha, ma"

(Mom! Let him call that when he feels like it... don't compel him.)

"Naan compel pannala, di. Nervous'ah laa feel panna venaa'nu soldren. Neenga neengalaa irunga, thambi"

(I'm not compelling, dear. I'm just saying not to make him feel nervous. You just be yourself)

"Adhu.. first time naala dha. Konjam.. poga poga palagikiren"

(That's... it's just the first time. I'm a little... I'll get used to it slowly)

I reassured them with a smile, then turned to Seetha, noticing that she quickly avoided my gaze and focused on eating the sweet.

I smiled softly and, reaching into my pocket, took out the ring box. I glanced at her parents before gently taking Seetha's hand in mine.

Her hand stiffened slightly under my touch, and she looked at me with a hint of amusement. I gave her hand a squeeze, then shifted my gaze to her parents, who seemed to deliberately avert their eyes from our hands to mine. I smiled at them and said,

"Engagement vegamaa nadandhadhu'naala ring yedhuvum exchange pannika mudila. Maala mattum dha maathikitto.. adhaa.."

(Since the engagement happened so quickly, we couldn't exchange the ring that day. Only the garland was exchanged between us... so..)

Using my thumb, I opened the box to reveal the plain golden-coated silver ring. I glanced at her parents, who smiled at me, and I returned the smile. Then, I looked at Seetha, who was already gazing at me, her eyes beginning to glisten.

Giving a small squeeze to her hand again, I looked down at it and slid my fingers to gently hold the tip of her little finger. Looking back at her, I smiled. She smiled in return and nodded her head. Just then, I heard,

"Naan video edukuren"

(I'll take the video)

I was a little taken aback by her mother's enthusiasm, but I smiled, holding Seetha's hand gently as I slid the ring onto her little ring finger.

Then, I looked at her, feeling the urge to kiss her, at least on her hand, but I restrained myself, offering her a smile instead.

And I turned, pocketing the empty box, and gave her parents a smile, clearing my throat before glancing at Seetha, who quickly rushed over to her mother to see the video.

"Thambi"

(Young man)

I looked at her father as he called out to me, and he continued,

"Illa.. romba vegamaa ellaame mudivu panneeto. Enga neenga venaa'nu, illanaa enga paapa've yethukkaama poiduvinglo nu romba bayandhuttu irundhen. Aana neenga romba shanthamaa eduthukuttel.. romba thanks, maapla"

(No... everything happened so quickly. I was nervous thinking you might be disappointed, or that you might not accept my kid as your fiancée. But you are so calm about it... thank you so much for that)

I gulped, listening to his words.

He still didn't know that this marriage was a mix of love and arrangement, not solely an arranged marriage.

Feeling guilty, I managed to force a smile at him and opened my mouth to tell him the truth, as I didn't want to cheat him, but,

"Ungalukku yedhuvum vaangalayae"

(We didn't buy anything for you)

I turned to look at her mother and frowned.

"Illa.. Seetha'ku ring pottutinga.. aana ungalukku.."

(No. That... you put the ring for Seetha. But for you...)

I smiled and moved my hands behind my nape, removing the locket and stretching it towards Seetha. She smiled, took it from me, and I said,

"Idhula ring irukku.. idhu Seetha enakku pottu vidattum"

(There's a ring in this... this one's for Seetha, she can put it on me)

I said to her mother. She gave me a smile, and I returned the gesture. Turning towards her father, I noticed him smiling as well. I then looked back at Seetha, who was focused on the locket, carefully examining it as she tried to break the wax seal that was still keeping the ring safe inside.

"Seetha, you don't need to break it. Just.. andha ring'eh rotate panneete iru.. adhu loose aayidum"

(Seetha, you don't need to break it. Just... keep rotating the ring, and it'll loosen up)

"Ohh"

She said, looking at me with a curious expression, as if questioning how I knew that, especially since it was the gift she brought for me. But, I simply nodded at her. She smiled and shook her head before continuing to rotate the ring, loosening it, until she finally removed it and I moved a little closer to the edge of the couch.

Giving me a shy smile, she then leaned in to take my hand from my thigh, gently sliding the plain silver colored ring onto my finger with her little fingers.

A relieved smile appeared on my lips as I realized that this moment was beyond what I had ever expected in my life.

And once she was done, she clapped her hands for ourselves, so, we joined her, clapping our hands and I chuckled, enjoying her enthusiasm.

She then glanced at the video her mother had taken while I leaned back, admiring her.

She had changed everything!

From being a person consumed by aggression, arrogance, and drunkard, I had transformed into someone capable of showing care, love, and passion beyond what I ever thought possible.

All of this happened from the moment she entered my life.

I know the smile she radiates now carries so much more than just happiness-it holds emotions too deep to describe.

I pushed her away, yet she found her way back to me.

I behaved rudely, but all she ever showed me was love-pure and unconditional, neither less nor more than what her heart held.

The smile, the care, the love she has given me all this time deserves to be cherished, forever. And I promise to return it to her in double measure, every single day, for as long as I live.

I will love you, Seetha. Always. Until my very last breath.

Then, after an hour, I found myself smiling as I glanced at her standing beside me. Her gaze was fixed on the helmet resting on the petrol tank of my bike, which I held loosely in my hands.

And I was seated on the bike, observing her with a soft smile, trying to hold back a laugh.

My girl-still shy, still avoiding my eyes-was nervously playing with the ring on my finger. She rotated it absentmindedly, tugged it off slightly, then slid it back into place.

Her nervous little gestures only made me smile wider.

Glancing around to ensure we were well out of sight of her parents-or anyone else-I reached for the hand she was playing with and pressed it firmly over the helmet under my grasp.

And my eyes met hers as I bit my lip, watching her eyes widen in a mix of shock and surprise. She then tried to wriggle free immediately, but I tightened my hold, guiding her hand to rest on my shoulder.

Without breaking eye contact, I slid my arm around her waist and pulled her closer until her bare foot brushed against my shoe-clad one. Her other hand instinctively clutched my shirt collar as she stared at me, her expression a blend of disbelief and nervous excitement.

In a barely audible whisper, she murmured,

"Professor..."

I hummed softly, my gaze drifting to her throat as it bobbed with a nervous gulp, her collarbone visibly rising and falling with her breaths.

Leaning down, I tightened my grip on her waist, feeling her hand press firmly against my chest. I brushed my lips against her collarbone, her shoulder, her jawline, and finally, the soft skin just below her ear, making her shiver.

My lips hovered over her earlobe-bare and free of any earrings-and I whispered, my voice low and teasing,

"The part of me where you touched is for making me hard, and the part of you that mirrors mine, but not exactly same, is meant to make you wet"

I educated her.

But, her breath hitched sharply at the next second, and I felt her freeze for a moment.

Smiling at her reaction, I slid my hand to the back of her head, gently guiding her face into the curve of my neck.

"Breathe"

I murmured softly against her ear, nuzzling her as her shallow breaths began to steady.

Satisfied, I withdrew, releasing my hold on her, and straightened up.

Then, starting the bike, I glanced at her, suppressing a grin as she stared at me like she'd just seen a ghost.

So, keeping my expression neutral, I asked,

"Yedhaadhu purunjadhaa?"

(Did you get it?)

She averted her gaze from me, rubbing the side of her neck where my lips had brushed. Then, her hand dropped, and she wet her lips nervously, visibly trying to process my words.

And after a moment, she hesitantly shook her head, just as I had expected.

Suppressing a smirk, I patted her bicep.

"I'll teach you tomorrow... in college"

Her brows furrowed at that, and she asked,

"College?"

I frowned back playfully.

"Aama. Nalaiku class irukku. Python task marandhuttiyaa?"

(Yes, college. You have a class tomorrow. Did you forget about that Python task?)

Her nervous gulp returned at my tone, and she shook her head quickly.

"Nyaabagam irukkaa illayaa?"

(Do you remember it or not?)

And I pressed further.

She bit down on her lower lip before releasing it and whispered,

"Nyaabagam irukku"

(I remember)

Smiling with a sense of accomplishment, I put on my helmet and flipped up its visor to look at her one last time.

"Tomorrow. 9 AM sharp!"

I said, watching her nod in agreement.

With that, I accelerated the engine, causing her to step back with a startled jerk. And I gave her a quick wave for a bye before riding off towards my house, shaking my head with a wide grin, thinking,

Aayush, you have to work hard.

But I sighed at the thoughts and my actions toward her, as I know that I'm slowly becoming obsessed with her as the days go by.

This little chick is driving me nuts and turning me into a complete pervert just for her.

"Locket enga da?"

(Where's the locket?)

I heard my dad's voice as soon as I entered the house. But I smiled, leaned on his back, wrapping my arms around his shoulder and said,

"I love you, pa"

Giving him a quick kiss on his cheek, I dashed into my room, hearing him murmur,

"En paiyanukku ennaachu?"

(What happened to my son?)

I chuckled to myself, grabbed the laptop, and settled into the balcony bean bag, ready to start the online tutoring session to clear my mind of the thoughts swirling around.
