Chapter 48💜🦋

Hello😀

Vaanga vaanga story kulla polaa 🚴‍♀️💜🦋

*********

♡♡

Seetha

My parents and I hurriedly ran inside the house, trying to escape the pouring rain.

"Thalaya thovattu, paapa. Ippodha joram vandhu poyirukku"

(Dry your head, dear. You just got over a fever)

"Seri, pa"

(Okay, pa)

I smiled widely at him, nodding my head fastly. He responded with a frowning smile, ruffled my hair, and walked into his room.

Turning around, I caught Amma staring at me. Flashing her a sheepish grin, I playfully pinched her cheek before darting into my room and shutting the door behind me.

Once inside, I burst into laughter, giggling uncontrollably, my heart brimming with joy at the thought that we had successfully made my parents cancel my marriage with that man. I flopped onto the bed, after twirling with my arms spread wide, breathing deeply as I stared at the ceiling.

I couldn't believe a day could bring me this much happiness. Today, without a doubt, is the best.

I rolled onto my stomach to grab the phone I had tossed onto the bed, unlocking it before turning on the internet. Almost immediately, a message from him popped up.

But, my heart skipped a beat when I realized it was a video. Sitting up straight, I tapped play and turned up the volume.

The very first frame of the video itself left me speechless, my breath hitching.

The background was pitch dark, the sky just as black, but at the center of it all was a massive heart-shaped red roses, illuminated and breathtaking.

It stayed on the screen for a few seconds, and as the realization sank in, my eyes filled with tears.

Then, his face peeked into the frame, a soft smile on his lips as he waved and asked,

"Hi! Naan theriyuranaa?"

(Hi! Can you see me?)

And, he stood at the center of the screen, his dimpled smile lighting up his face, hands casually tucked into his pockets.

He wore a vibrant yellow shirt with a white diamond pattern, a few buttons undone at the top, revealing a white T-shirt underneath, paired with black pants. His left wrist sported an ash-colored watch, the right adorned with a silver bracelet, and around his neck hung our locket-my gift to him.

But, his lips were pressed together, and he seemed visibly nervous, glancing at the camera like a lost kid.

It made me chuckle softly.

Then, finally, he opened his mouth, spreading his arms wide as he glanced around him.

"Made this, Seetha.. I made this for..."

He paused, his gaze shifting back to the screen.

"For you"

He nervously scratched the area below his ear, chuckling as he continued.

"Naan'laa orunaalum ipdi pannuven'nu en kanavula kooda nenachu paathadhu illa, ma. Idha neradiyaa unna kooptu vandhu sollanum'nu nenachen. But, adhukulla unga veetla enna ennamo nadandhiruchu'nu Kamali dha enakku inform pannaa, adhaa.. ippove ipdi video valiyaa soldra maadhiri aayiruchu"

(I never even dreamed that I could do something like this, ma. I thought of bringing you here directly and telling you face to face. But before that, Kamali told me about everything that happened at your house, and so... it ended up like this, telling you through a video)

He then placed his palms on either side of his waist, while I crossed my legs and watched him, settling into a comfortable position.

"Yedhuvum memorize'laa pannala, ma. Apdiye enna varudho soldren. Thappaa irundhaa manichiru. Nee nenachadhu, sonnadhu ellaame unma dha, Seetha. Naan naraya.. romba harsh'ah peseerken, nadandhirukken, hug pannaa, kitta vandhaa, yen... pesunaa kooda thitteerken. Yeah, Asingamaa illayaa'nu ketrukken. I was wrong. But, thanks, ma. Nee thirumba varaama apdiye poyirundhaa.. I could have lived with the so much guilt. Appa paasam kedachirukkaadhu, amma paasam kedachirukkaadhu, and unnoda indha unconditional love.."

(I didn't memorize anything, ma. I'm just saying whatever comes to my mind. If it's wrong, forgive me. Everything you thought, said-it's all true, Seetha. I've spoken harshly, acted harshly. When you hugged me, when you came close, even when you talked, I scolded you. Yeah, I even asked if you didn't feel ashamed for loving me. I was wrong. But thanks, ma. If you hadn't come back and had just left like that... I would have lived with so much guilt. I wouldn't have had Appa's love, Amma's love, and most of all, your unconditional love...)

He paused, shook his head, and let out a sigh, one of his hands moving to rub the back of his neck now as if the words were too heavy to finish.

"Okay, let's forget all that together. Now, namma anniku sanda potom'illa? Kandippa.. you must have cried. I'm sorry for that. Naan porumaiyaa solleerkalaam.."

(Okay, let's forget all that together. Now, we fought today, didn't we? You must have cried for sure. I'm sorry for that. I could've spoken patiently..)

I swallowed hard, unable to find any words.

I just stared at my man, the one who was so clearly in love.

Every movement he made, every smile, every blink felt overwhelming, radiating his love for me in ways I couldn't fully grasp.

"Apro.. Indha setup'laa pandradhukkaaga dha yaarkittayum sollaama ponen. Thank god, Kamali vandhu sonnaa enna pretchana'nu.. illanaa yezhandhiruppen'le?"

(And then... I left without informing anyone just to arrange all this. Thank God Kamali came and told me-otherwise, I could've lost you, right?)

I shook my head immediately.

"Nee vitrukka maata'nu theriyum. Aanaalum... you must have cried a lot. So, I am really sorry again. Enakku naraya unkitta sollanum. Paravala, nee nerla irundhirundhaa ippo varaikum sonnadhu kooda solleerpano ennamo therila... Un kanna paathu ennaala edhuvum solleerka mudiyaadhu kandippa.."

(I know you won't give up. But still... you must have cried a lot. So, I'm sorry. There's so much I need to say to you. It's okay, though. If you were here in person, I don't even know if I'd have managed to say all this by now... Looking into your eyes, I definitely wouldn't have been able to say a word)

I chuckled.

"You know what? Naan alcohol consume panni romba naal aagudhu, appa kitta sanda potu romba naal aagudhu, college'le laa students kitta romba harsh'ah pesiye romba naal aagudhu.. apro.."

(You know what? It's been so long since I consumed alcohol, so long since I fought with Appa, and so long since I've spoken harshly to the students at college... and then...)

He took a deep breath and said,

"Amma've miss panni aludhu romba naal aagudhu, Seetha"

(It's been so long since I cried missing Amma, Seetha)

Tears silently traced their way down my cheeks, carrying the weight of his words.

"Maybe, unakku indha setup ellaam paathu therinjirukalaam. Idhu yedhukku.. apdinu.. But it's beyond what you think. Naan unmela vachirukardhu love, affection ellaame thaandi oru respect'ngradhu dha adhigamaa irukku. Naan unna avlo thittuna apro, unna avlo aluga vacha apro... yendha oru ponnum enakkaaga ivlo panneerka maataanga. Ponnu'nu illa.. yaaraa irundhaalum enakkaaga ivlo panneerka maataanga.. enakkaaga.. enakkaaga naan alugardhukku munnaadi nee aludhura.. enakku en life'le onnu kedachaa.. enna vida romba sandhosha padravanga'na adhu nee mattum dha.. I don't know if I'm blessed or not, but I'm really thankful for everything. And when I say 'thank you' , it's for so many things you did to me. But enakku unna yaaro oru.. some third person in my life'nu nenaikka venaam.. enakku sandhosham'na unakkum sandhosham irukkanum illayaaa? because you're not just anyone-you're mine.."

(Maybe, seeing all this setup, you might have guessed why I did it, ma. But it's beyond what you think. The love and affection I have for you are there, of course, but above all that, there's a deep respect I hold for you. After everything, after scolding you, making you cry, I realize no other girl would have done all this for me. Not just a girl, no one would have done this much for me. You shed tears for me even before I could for myself, and if there's one thing I know for sure, it's that my happiness has always mattered more to you than your own. I don't know if I'm blessed or not, but I'm really thankful for everything. And when I say 'thank you' , it's for so many things. But more than anything, I don't want you to feel like you're some third person in my life, because you're not just anyone-you're mine )

My free hand hovered over my mouth as a soft sob escaped upon hearing his words.

Was I the reason he felt this way? This overwhelmed?

Did I truly deserve all these words?

All I ever did was prove my love. I hadn't done anything more than that.

All I wanted was to ease the weight of his yearnings etched into those deep, chocolate-brown orbs of his.

I chuckled softly at the thought of that nickname and leaned in, letting his voice pull me back into the moment.

"Idhukku mela enna soldradhu? Nee kudutha andha alavu love ellaa enakku unkitta kaamikka mudiyumaa'nu therila. No one can replace you. But, I'll try. I'll try my best to keep you happy, right by my side. Naan ippo varaikum ellaame en mind kullaye dha peseerken. Yedhuvum expess pannadhu illa. Sathiyamaa nee inga irundhirundhaa naan ivlo express panneerkave maaten. Innum pannanum dha.. But, ippodhaiku naan unkitta indha screen valiyaa soldren... Enakku nee eppavum en pakkathulaye venum, nee enakku kedacha priceless treasure maadhiri unna naan paathukanum.. just.. just you and me.. I.. I need it forever, Seetha"

(What more can I say? The love you've given me, I'm not sure if I can ever match it. No one can replace you. But, I'll try. I'll try my best to keep you happy, right by my side. Everything I've said so far has come straight from my heart, but even then, I know I haven't fully conveyed everything I feel. Honestly, if you were here with me right now, I wouldn't have been able to express this much too. I still have more to say... but for now, I'm saying this through this screen. I need you beside me always. I wish to take care of you like a priceless treasure... just.. just you and me... I.. I need this forever, Seetha)

He finished, speaking hesitantly like a kid, and I sat there, overwhelmed by a surge of pure happiness, tears streaming down my face as his words sank deep into my mind and heart.

My whole body trembled, shaking uncontrollably, as the weight of his sincerity struck me with an intensity I couldn't contain.

My heart swelled with happiness, and just as I was eagerly waiting for him to continue, he paused, a mischievous smirk spreading across his face.

Then, softly, he said,

"Nee nenaikardha phone'le solla enakku viruppam illa. So, nerla vaa. If you want the same..."

(Whatever you're thinking, I don't want to say it over the phone. So, come in person. If you want the same...)

He paused again, took something from his back pocket, and kneeled down on one knee, making me smile and chuckle uncontrollably without even realizing it.

Enough. Please.

I stood up from the bed immediately, stumbling a little, and he continued, opening the small purple jewelry box as he said,

"If you want the same 'us' , but forever"

And, the video ended abruptly, and I stared at the screen in disbelief.

I quickly checked for any continuation, but there was none.

Frustration bubbled up inside me, and I threw my phone aside.

Then, without thinking, I flung the door open, and ran out into the rain, ignoring everything and everyone around me-my parents, the world.

Barefoot, I sprinted along the road, my heart pounding, heading straight to his house.

And, when I finally spotted him standing in front of his house, my pace quickened, and without a second thought, I launched myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck.

He caught me by the waist, spinning me around in the rain.

I clung to him, my face buried against his neck, crying.

My throat went dry, and my heart raced, but it was only with happiness.

Tears continued to flow down from my eyes, overwhelmed with love, as I inhaled his cologne from the crook of his neck, grounding myself in the reality of this fairy-tale moment unfolding before me.

I felt a happiness so intense that it seemed beyond what any butterfly could feel after emerging from its shell.

After a few more twirls, he gently set me down on my feet, only to pull me close immediately, not letting me go.

I looked at his face, which was glowing with pure happiness, his eyes sparkling with love-love for me.

We stood there, eyes locked, rain pouring around us, squinting as we gazed into each other's souls.

It was as though I was completely enveloped in his arms-my safe place, my home-without a single worry or thought to cloud my mind.

He smiled at me, and I couldn't help but smile back even wider, my heart full.

"So, do you want the same 'us' , forever, Seetha?"

He asked.

I could hardly contain my happiness, my heart felt like it would burst.

"Yes"

I whispered, my voice barely audible over the rain.

"Nekku idhu venum. I.. I want you, forever, professor"

(I want this. I.. I want you, forever, professor)

I wrapped my arms comfortably around his neck, feeling his warmth as he pulled me closer. He leaned in, planting a soft kiss in between my eyebrows before pulling back just enough to gaze into my eyes.

And, my breath hitched, waiting for him to say those words, but instead, I pouted, unable to contain my longing.

He simply stared at me, his eyes full of love and tenderness. Then, gently, he reached up with his right hand and tucked a wet strand of hair behind my ear. I knew it wouldn't last-the rain would only make it fall back into my face-but I couldn't help the smile that tugged at my lips.

Opening my eyes, no longer lost in the comfort of his embrace, I met his gaze and, with a pout and asked,

"Enna innum wait panna vaikanumaa ungalukku?"

(Do you still want me to wait?)

His lips curved into a smirk as he rolled a strand of my hair between his fingers before tucking it behind my ear again, saying,

"I'm just taking care of your hair, you know?"

I huffed and clicked my tongue, but still with eagerness, I asked,

"Mch. Adha vidunga. Neenga sollunga sollunga..."

(Mch. Leave it. You just say it first...)

He raised his brows with a smile and asked,

"Enna sollunga sollunga?"

(What do you want me to say?)

"Adhaa.. sollunga sollunga"

(Those words... say it, say it..)

"Ennadhu?"

(What?)

But, he chuckled at me, just seeing my eyes and my smile, his wide smile lighting up his face.

I sighed.

"Ada.. enna pa neenga.. nerla vandhaa solluven'nu sonninga'le? Adha, sollunga.."

(Hey... what is this now? You said you'll tell me when I come in person, right? So, tell me now...)

"Oh... Adhuvaa?"

(Oh.. you're asking that?)

He asked nonchalantly, but I caught on to his teasing.

With a raised eyebrow, I questioned back,

"Tease pandre'laa?"

(Are you teasing me?)

He bit his lower lip between his teeth, teasingly suppressing a smile.

I huffed and started to loosen my hold around his neck, but he quickly pulled me closer, his voice hurried yet firm as he said,

"Seri seri.. soldren soldren"

(Okay, okay.. I'll tell you)

With a shy smile, I wrapped my arms around his neck once more.

His left hand gently lifted, brushing my wet hair aside as the rain began to fade.

He tucked a stray curl behind my ear and cupped the side of my neck, leaning closer to meet my height.

He softly breathed my name,

"Seetha"

"Hmm"

I hummed in response, completely captivated by the depth of his eyes.

"Sollattumaa?"

(Shall I say it?)

"Hmm hmm"

I tightened my grip around his neck, standing on the tips of my toes without a hint of fear, completely secure in the lock of his arms around my waist.

"Seetha"

He murmured softly, pressing a gentle kiss on my right cheek.

"Mmmmm..."

I responded, melting into his touch.

He then cupped my jaw with his palm, tilting my face slightly, his thumb stroking my cheek tenderly. His eyes locked with mine, and in a voice barely above a whisper, he said,

"Solleedren, Seetha"

(I am going to say it, Seetha)

I swallowed hard, my breath hitching as I gazed into his intense eyes. He leaned in closer, his nose gently brushing against mine, sending shivers down my spine.

With a soft yet deliberate voice, he hesitated a little, pressing his lips together like a shy kid gathering courage. Then, he whispered,

"I love you"

That was the moment, I felt like crying, laughing, and screaming all at once.

I never expected anything from him, literally nothing, before or even after confessing my love to him. All I ever wanted was for him to be happy, even if it meant being with someone else.

But deep down, I knew I had become yearning for a lifetime with him, ever since he began showing me a side of his love that was all-consuming-trust, sadness, happiness, lust, obsession, and care-all reserved only for me.

If I were to tell anyone about this moment, no one would believe me.

But that's who he is-offering his love solely to the one woman in his life, and that woman is me now, officially, from his heart and his words.

I don't know who to thank now, but I'm incredibly grateful to my heart and mind for not giving up on him.

If they had, I would've lost him-lost my love.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I looked at him, and just as I was about to lose myself in the intensity of the moment, he leaned in again, eyes closing, ready to kiss me.

I couldn't help but smile, remembering how he once confessed his obsession with me-kissing, hugging, and simply being with me.

But just before his lips could touch mine, I slipped my fingers gently between our lips, softly pushing him back.

He paused, his gaze dazed, caught off guard by my sudden move.

"Enga en proposal gift?"

(Where is my proposal gift?)

He chuckled, caught my wrist, kissed my fingers that were resting on his rough yet soft lips, and placed my hand on his shoulder. He then took my other wrist and placed it on his other shoulder, as well.

I smiled, hugged his neck again, standing on my toes.

As I stood there, gazing dreamily into his eyes like a love-struck puppy, he asked,

"Ulla polaamaa? You're getting wet"

(Shall we go inside? You're getting wet)

But I lowered my face, my cheeks burning as I remembered this same word he had whispered earlier today in the trial room.

"Enough of your blushings, di. Vaa, ippodha fever vandhuttu poyirukku. Thirumba paduthukaadha"

(Enough of your blushings, di. Come on, you might end up with a fever now. Don't lie down with a fever again)

He tried to loosen my hands from around his shoulders, but I tightened my grip, pulling his neck down to my height until only an inch separated our faces.

He raised his brows amused, but before he could say a word,

"Professor, sirrr..."

I whispered, drawing out the words with a playful tone.

"Mmm.. sollunga, student madam.."

(Mmm... go ahead, student madam)

He, too, tightened his hold around my waist, and a tingling sensation spread across my skin as his long fingers traced the bare skin of my back where the blouse and saree parted.

I smiled, squirming a little, and said,

"Propose pannunga"

(Propose to me)

"Adhaa pannane?"

(Haven't I already done that?)

I stiffened, my toes weakening as I stood on tiptoe when his thumb pad traced the curve of my lower spine.

The rain was gradually easing up.

Taking a deep breath, I asked,

"Innorukkaa pannunga. Yen? Naan kaettaa panna maate'laa?"

(Do it again. Why? You won't do it for me?)

"Yen pannaama?"

(Why can't I?)

He leaned in with a playful smirk and pecked my lips. I smiled, waited, hoping he would finally say it again.

"I love you"

And, I was amused.

Oh, my man finally grew comfortable enough to confess without a hint of nervousness!

I giggled at his newfound ease.

Just as I was about to respond, he leaned in again, his eyes twinkling with love, and softly pecked my lips again, cutting me off mid-thought.

"I love you, ma"

He said, his voice a gentle whisper.

I smiled and tilted my head, teasingly asking,

"Yedhukku?"

(For what?)

But, his smile deepened as he gazed into my eyes, his voice earnest and soft.

"To fulfill your wish to make my yearnings lessen, and no more. To fulfill my wish to erase my past harshness towards you and maybe..."

He paused, dragging out his words, a playful smirk tugging at his lips before he added,

"Replace it with a different kind of harshness"

His tone dropped, laced with teasing, as a mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes.

Before I could fully grasp his tease, he blew me a playful kiss.

I chuckled shyly, stretching up slightly to match his height, and pressed a soft kiss on his bearded chin.

As I pulled back, our eyes locked, and he said,

"I love you, Seetha"

I smiled widely at his continuous confessions, my heart swelling with love.

Gripping the damp strands of his hair at the back, I gently pulled him down to my level. Pressing a kiss to his left cheek, then his right with my eyes closed, I gave him my little reward-a gift for my now-confident, grown-up kid.

Then, with unwavering sincerity, I met his gaze.

"I love you so much, professor"

I whispered.

But before the moment could linger, I squealed in delight as he suddenly lifted me into his arms in a bridal style, one arm firmly around my waist, the other beneath my knees.

First lift!

I wrapped my arms around his neck tightly, laughing with joy, also feeling emotional as he carried me effortlessly. Everything felt like a fairy tale in that moment.

After admiring me, holding me securely in his arms, his gaze softened as if memorizing every detail.

Am I really worthy of all this? Still, I couldn't fully grasp the reality.

I felt like hugging him tight and crying happily in his arms.

But, his lips brushed gently against my ear, and he whispered,

"I will love you forever, rowdy. Don't get emotional now. Worth'uh, di nee. Trust me"

(You're worth it, di)

I chuckled through my tears, and he smiled softly, but our happy expressions slowly faded when we heard the distant sound of a police jeep siren.

He turned, still holding me, but gently set me back on my feet as the jeep stopped right in front of us. We looked at each other, confused.

I wrapped my arm around his bicep, and he placed his palm on the back of my hand, offering a reassuring touch. Together, we stared at the man in front of us-a tall, handsome figure, standing at the same height as my professor.

His brown police uniform was neatly fitted, and he looked just as handsome as my professor. But, I couldn't help but gulp as he stopped right in front of us, his hands stuffed casually in his pockets, before asking,

"Seetha?"

He addressed me directly, and I swallowed nervously, turning to look at my professor. He responded calmly,

"Yes, she is. May I know why you're asking, sir?"

The officer removed his black glasses, tucking them between the collar of his uniform, then tied his hands behind his back before saying,

"I need to take her to the station for an investigation"

I frowned, tightly clutching his hand. The police officer noticed my grip before glancing at my professor.

"But why?"

Aayush sir asked, his voice calm yet concerned.

"I can't disclose that right now"

The officer replied.

"Then how can I leave my woman with you?"

My professor countered.

My woman?

I shook my head, pulling myself out of the dream world, and focused on the reality unfolding before me.

"I'm just doing my job, Mr.. I need her for an important investigation. Ms. Seetha, shall we go?"

The officer's tone was firm, and I shuddered in fear, my stomach twisting in confusion.

What was happening? Why did the police want to investigate me? What had I done?

Suddenly, I jerked away from his bicep at the sound of my mother's voice, calling my name.

"Seetha!"

She rushed over and stood beside me, and I stepped between my parents, leaving my professor's side.

Appa wrapped his arm around my shoulder and asked, his voice heavy with concern,

"Enga paapa pona? Naanga evlo neram unna thaedradhu?"

(Where did you go, baby? How long have we been searching for you?)

I just stood there, gulping, not knowing how to respond.

But I was taken aback when Amma said,

"Naan.. naan dha'nga namm'aathula maavu illa'nu pakkathu veetla vaangeetu vara sonnen. Aana... aana naane adha marandhutten"

(I.. I only told her to go to the neighbor's house to buy flour since we don't have any at home. But... but I forgot about it)

She said with a shudder, looking guilty.

Appa looked at her in disbelief, while I looked surprised because that was a utter lie.

Why is she protecting me from Appa's questions now?

Enna da nadakudhu inga?

(What's happening here?)

"En..."

(Wh..)

Appa started, but his voice trailed off as the police officer stepped forward, positioning himself between them. He extended his hand towards Appa.

"Hello, sir. I am Shivadith Vetrivel, Deputy Commissioner of Police"

The officer introduced himself.

Appa glanced at me, and I shook my head, completely lost for words.

He turned back to the officer, who was still holding out his hand. Appa shook it, still unsure of what was going on.

"Hello, sir"

Once their hands were released, the officer turned to me.

"Shall we leave now, Ms. Seetha?"

I swallowed nervously. Appa, still bewildered, asked,

"Enna? Enga koopudringa?"

(What? Where are you calling her to come now?)

"Police station"

The officer replied casually. My head started to spin, feeling dizzy from the confusion.

"Yedhukku? Enga ponnu enna thappu pannaa?"

(Why? What wrong has our daughter done?)

Amma asked anxiously, her voice shaking.

"I can't say it now, mam. Station'ku poi dha solla mudiyum"

(I can only tell you at the station)

The officer responded, trying to calm her down.

Before Appa or Amma could say anything further, I saw my man walking towards us. He stood between me and the officer, facing him directly. His tone was sharp and protective as he confronted the officer.

"Are you kidding me? You're asking for our woman to come with you at this time, in front of us, but you won't even say why? Are you mad or what?"

He asked angrily, his fists clenched.

The officer simply smiled, tapping his chest twice as if to reassure him.

"Kovapadaadhinga, young man. It's just an investigation. You can come with her if you want. I won't stop you. I just need Ms. Seetha for the investigation"

(Don't get angry, young man)

He said calmly.

I felt the tension rising in the air, my heart racing as the situation grew more intense.

I glanced at my professor, who slowly unclenched his fists, his face still tight with tension.

But, we all turned to see Mama walking out of the house, looking confused as he spotted the police officer.

"Ennaachu, Aayush?"

(What's wrong, Aayush?)

He asked, his voice full of worry.

"Appa, see... he's asking for Seetha for an investigation. Enna'nu kaettalum solla maatenguraaru"

(But, he is not telling me the reason either)

My professor complained to his father like a kid, though his frustration was evident.

I stood there, torn between admiring my professor and growing fearful of what was unfolding.

Mama stepped forward and shook hands with the officer.

"Hello, sir. I am Paarthiv Raj. May I..."

He started, but the officer cut him off, raising his palm.

"I'm doing my job, Mr. Paarthiv Raj. I just need Ms. Seetha for an important investigation"

The officer said firmly again.

"Any one person can accompany her with me. Others can come straight to the station and you may know the reason there. Ms. Seetha..."

He paused, looking directly at me, his voice cold and professional.

But, I stood frozen, unsure of what to do or say.

And, I glanced at my professor as he stepped forward, his hand quickly gripping my wrist in front of my parents making me gasp.

They glanced at both of us, then at his firm grip on my wrist.

I swallowed hard, trying to loosen his hold, but he tightened it even more, causing me to suppress a wince and fall silent.

Then, he spoke,

"I'll come with her"

He said.

The officer merely shrugged, heading back to the jeep. We turned to face our parents.

"Appa, Seetha oda parents'ayum kooptu vandhirunga station'ku. Naan Seetha kooda poren"

(Appa, get Seetha's parents too to the station. I'll go with Seetha.)

He informed mama.

"Thambi... naan venaa..."

(Thambi.. shall I...)

My father began, but the professor interrupted, shaking his head.

"Illa, sir. I have to be there..."

(No, sir. I have to be there...)

He said thoughtfully.

We frowned at him, unsure of what he meant, but before we could respond, the sound of a jeep horn echoed.

Aayush sir glanced at me, his grip on my wrist tightening, and we started walking towards the jeep. He opened the door for me to get inside, then followed me, sliding in beside me.

Our parents watched us through the window, worry etched on their faces.

But, the officer drove us away, and I inhaled deeply, turning to glance at him. He blinked and shook his head. I reached for his other hand, and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder protectively.

I looked at the officer, whose attention was entirely focused on the road. His left hand gripped the steering wheel while his right held the phone to his ear.

"Time aagum, Thendral. Appa soldren'le?... Illa nee anna kooda thoongu inniku oru naal... Please, chellam, appa soldren'le, da. Azhagi.. hello?.."

(It's getting late, Thendral.... Didn't appa tell you?... No, you should sleep with your brother today... Please, sweetheart, I'm telling you, right?.... Beautiful... hello?)

He sighed, scratched his left brow with his fingers, placed the phone on the passenger seat, and glanced in the rearview mirror.

I quickly closed my eyes, leaning into my professor's chest, clutching his hand tightly, fear creeping through my veins.

Within a few minutes, we arrived at the station. I hurried inside alongside the two men, with my professor's hand placed protectively above my head to shield me from the rain.

As we entered the station, the DCP raised his palm, signaling for us to stop.

We frowned, but he turned to speak to another officer, who nodded and walked away. We glanced at the DCP, but he was interrupted by his phone ringing.

"Thoongeetaalaa? Seri, ma... Illa, ini dha... Seri, rowdy saapudren... I will call you later, byee... Love you"

(Did she sleep or not? Alright, ma... No.. Okay, I'll eat, rowdy... I'll call you later, bye... Love you)

I couldn't help but smile at hearing the word "rowdy" . I lifted my face to glance at my professor, who was looking tense. I intertwined our fingers even tighter, leaning into his bicep.

And, in an instant, I felt a soft kiss on the top of my head, which calmed me slightly.

Soon, the officer who had gone away returned, holding a black jacket. He handed it to the DCP, who stretched it towards me.

"Mmm. Pottukonga"

(Wear it)

He said.

I looked up at my professor, who took the jacket from him and carefully helped me put it on. I glanced at the DCP, who smiled and shook his head before heading inside.

After putting on the jacket, I pulled the collar up to hide my drenched clothes and we followed the DCP inside, where several other officers were gathered. The tension in the air was palpable as we walked deeper into the station.

But, I gasped in shock as I noticed some of the men, who looked like they had stepped out of a Korean dramas, standing beside the table where the DCP had stopped.

Enna thirai'le paathadhu'laa tharaila varudhu?

(What is this? What I saw on the screen is now happening right in front of me in real!)

I gulped and looked at DCP who leaned back casually, his palm placed on the desk behind him, his ankles crossed.

I glanced at the other men, but quickly averted my gaze as a wave of nervousness washed over me. I realized their eyes were on me, and without thinking, I instinctively hid behind my professor, feeling uncomfortable under their stare.

He, too, wrapped his arm around my shoulder, holding me securely in his embrace, offering me some sense of safety.

I didn't know what was happening around me or what was going to happen next, but I took comfort in being close to him. I could feel a small sense of relief, knowing he was there.

Among the group of men, I noticed a few women in police uniforms-constables or maybe inspectors, I couldn't tell. The atmosphere was heavy, and I could only cling to the reassurance of my professor's presence as I tried to make sense of everything happening around me.

Hearing a throat-clearing sound, I glanced at the DCP, who introduced me to someone,

"This is Ms. Seetha, Mr. Fuji"

I frowned, my eyes darting to the men with their Korean-like features. One of them stepped forward, his voice sharp as he exclaimed,

"Ask her, sir! She stole our experiment!"

My breath hitched at his words, and my heart began to race. The man stretched his hand towards me as if pointing an accusing finger and took a step closer. Fear gripped me, and I instinctively shivered.

Before he could get any closer, my professor stepped in, holding the man's hand firmly to stop him. The DCP, too, quickly intervened, placing his palm on the man's chest and pushing him back.

I stood frozen, trembling with fear, unable to comprehend the accusation.

Stole? An experiment?

My mind spun with confusion and panic.

What was he talking about?

"Where should I ask you to stay?"

The DCP asked the Korean-looking man who looked at the space he had been standing in earlier.

"Go and stay there. If you move an inch, the gun will speak from my place. Go..."

The DCP roared at him, his voice commanding and firm.

The man glanced at him, but his eyes quickly flicked to me, sending a chill down my spine. He returned to his previous stance, crossing his arms beneath his chest, his gaze still fixed on me with an unsettling intensity making me gulp.

Perumaaley.

I gripped his hand.

"Ms. Seetha"

DCP called me. I looked up at him.

"Shall I ask you something? You need to answer clearly. Got it?"

I glanced at my professor, and he nodded at me.

"Yes, he will be here with you. Will you answer now?"

DCP asked.

Achacho!

I turned my gaze back to DCP, who gave me a slight reassuring smile. It offered a small sense of relief. I nodded my head but my nerves were still on edge.

"Where did you get that power?"

Power?

I frowned, confusion creeping in, but I gulped nervously as the memory of the invisible power rushing back.

Is he asking about that?

My professor gave my hand a gentle squeeze, and I noticed DCP's eyes shift to us, clearly observing the exchange.

"Where did you get it, Seetha?"

DCP's voice was calm.

I gulped again, feeling the weight of his gaze on me, and then quietly answered,

"Nekku theriyaadhu"

(I don't know)

"So you have it, but you don't know where it came from. Am I right?"

DCP pressed further.

I glanced at my professor, who blinked back at me, then he turned to DCP.

"Shall I brief it, sir?"

Aayush sir asked him.

"No"

DCP replied firmly.

"You're not allowed to answer, Mr... You are only here to accompany her. Ms. Seetha, you should brief it"

I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest, and gripped my professor's hand tightly. His reassuring squeeze helped steady my nerves as I turned to face DCP again.

With a shaky exhale, I began, my voice faltering at times but gaining strength as I continued. I told them everything from the start-how I had discovered the paper stuck to my shoulder, how I had thrown it away, and then hesitated before confessing the truth about using the power during the football match to make him win.

I felt my professor's gaze on me, and despite the tension in the room, I pushed forward, describing how I had first become aware of the power and how I had learned about its origins from him.

The room was quiet for a moment after I finished speaking.

Every pair of eyes in the room seemed to be focused on me, but it was DCP's gaze that weighed the heaviest. He studied me intently, as if measuring every word I had said, every slight hesitation in my voice.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, DCP leaned back slightly, his fingers tapping thoughtfully on the desk behind him.

"Interesting"

He said slowly, his voice almost thoughtful, as if he were piecing together something far more complicated than what I had just described.

"So, you're telling me that you... have this power, but you don't know how or why 'you' have it? And you've used it, not for any personal gain, but... mostly to meet someone"

He paused, glancing at my professor before turning back to me.

I nodded, saying,

"Yes, sir. That's all I know"

The Korean-looking man who had been silent until now stepped forward again, his eyes narrowing as he spoke.

"What is this, sir? This is ridiculous! What is she saying? She used our experiment without our knowledge and is claiming she doesn't even know where it came from?"

He exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief.

The officer, however, calmly looked at him, his expression hardening. He stepped forward, placing a hand firmly on the man's shoulder.

"Mr. Fuji, you have every right to question your experiment. But remember, you and your team never sought the proper authorization or approval for your experiment in this state. You're already under arrest for that. Keep that in mind before you continue shouting at anyone.."

He explained, emphasizing every word he uttered, his teeth gritted.

The man gulped, lowering his gaze in defeat as he released his grip.

DCP then turned his attention back to me, his expression softening slightly.

"Look, Ms. Seetha.."

He began.

"These individuals are from Japan, researchers from Minato Institutions. They were involved in a project to make humans invisible. The research was abruptly halted due to some issue involving a bird feather, or so they claim. But a few months ago, they learned about you, how you were using that invisible power without their knowledge. And now, they've come here to confront you"

I raised my brows, intrigued by the information, and glanced at my professor, who was standing silently, listening to the DCP's explanation. After a brief moment, Professor spoke up, his voice calm but authoritative.

"Sir, may I say something?"

DCP nodded, his gaze thoughtful, giving permission.

Professor continued,

"I am already aware of the details you just mentioned. I read about their experiment in an article. They discovered Seetha when I was speaking with my best friend, Elangovan's sister, who is currently studying at the same institution and doing her UG degree there. She informed me about the experiment, and that's how they became aware of Seetha. As for myself, she has explained everything to me from the beginning. Every word she has said is true. I've been with her through this entire journey of discovering her invisible power"

The DCP nodded thoughtfully, then asked,

"By the way, who are you, Mr.?"

The professor straightened and replied,

"I am Aayush Kumar. I work as a professor. And we are going to get married soon"

I suppressed a gasp at his last statement, feeling an overwhelming mix of emotions-should I blush, laugh, or cry?

The DCP raised an eyebrow but continued, turning to me,

"Okay. So, Seetha, you don't know anything other than what you've told us so far?"

I nodded quickly.

"Yes, sir"

He studied me for a moment before asking,

"Mmm... You haven't stolen anything, right?"

"No, sir. I haven't"

I replied firmly.

"Alright. To whom have you spoken about this power?"

I hesitated but then answered,

"Mama, Elangovan sir, and Aayush sir."

"Aayush sir?"

He asked, his tone sharper.

I gulped and clarified,

"Aayush Kumar"

Lowering my gaze as goosebumps spread across my skin.

Enna koduma da idhu?

(Why is this happening to me?)

I couldn't even say his name for the first time in our private moment.

I felt like pouting, but instead pressed my lips together, deliberately scratching inside his palm.

But, he gripped my finger, the one that was scratching him, causing me to twist my lips in response.

"And who is Elangovan sir?"

I snapped back to the reality and replied,

"His friend and my brother"

I said, pointing at my professor, avoiding repeating his name.

The DCP hummed, processing the information, before continuing,

"Alright. But, Ms. Seetha, I called you here because you've been accused of stealing their experiment and using it without their consent"

"Why would I do that, sir?"

I protested, my voice rising slightly.

"I didn't even know about this until he told me. And I'm not even using it regularly anymore like before"

His gaze sharpened.

"May I know why you're not using it as often now?"

Before I could answer, the professor interjected,

"I asked her not to use it regularly"

"And why is that?"

"If the paper containing the invisible magical lines completely changes its color to purple, it becomes useless"

He explained.

"Moreover, if Seetha happens to be invisible when it turns entirely purple and then..."

He trailed off, leaving the implication hanging.

Both the DCP and I frowned in confusion.

"Then what?"

He urged.

"Then she will remain invisible forever"

He revealed gravely.

I gasped in shock, and the DCP looked equally stunned.

"Oh. That's dangerous, I suppose"

The DCP murmured.

The professor nodded.

"Yes, sir. It is"

The DCP turned to the Korean man and his associates.

"Mr. Fuji, you didn't acquire the proper permissions before bringing your research here. That's where everything went wrong. And Seetha is just a part of the bigger picture, one we don't fully understand yet"

He shouted at them, angrily.

The Korean man nodded along with his team. I sighed in relief, hoping this nightmare was nearing its end.

The DCP then addressed me again,

"Ms. Seetha, you will need to remain under our watch from now on. Also, you must return the invisible paper to me by tomorrow morning before ten. I will submit it to the government, and..."

"Sir, I have something to say"

The professor interrupted.

The DCP paused and nodded.

"Go ahead"

Taking a step forward, still holding my hand, the professor said,

"Sir, neenga idha government kitta kuduthaa epdiyum ivanga kaila pogum. Or ivanga aalunga kaila pogum or government'eh kooda idha misuse panna chance irukku, sir. So.. I think, idhu Seetha kitta irukkardhu dha nalladhu"

(Sir, if you hand this over to the government, it will inevitably fall into the wrong hands-either theirs or someone connected to them. There's also a chance that the government itself might misuse it. So, I believe it's safest if Seetha keeps it)

The DCP considered his words for a moment.

"You make a valid point, Mr. Aayush Kumar. But what about her safety? You've already mentioned that it could be dangerous for her as well"

"I'll ensure her safety, sir"

The professor replied confidently.

"I won't let her misuse the power or become invisible again. Will you, Seetha?"

He turned to me suddenly, and I immediately shook my head, shrugging my shoulders.

Who would risk their life?

Not me, especially when I have to live forever-with him.

Naan onnum avlo makku'laa illa.

(I'm not that foolish)

His lips curved into a warm smile, and I found myself smiling back. Then we both turned to the DCP, who also wore a faint smile.

Just as I allowed myself to grin wide, my moment was interrupted by familiar voices.

"Seethaa... Paapaa..."

"Seetha, kannu!"

"Constables, stop them! Make them wait outside"

The DCP instructed, and a few constables stepped forward, escorting our parents out of the room.

Then he turned back to us.

"Okay, Ms. Seetha. Write a letter stating that you won't leave the city without informing the station or me. Additionally, write a promise letter affirming that everything you've said is true"

He called out,

"Murali!"

A young man in a police uniform approached swiftly.

"Get the letters, ensure she signs them, and have Mr. Aayush Kumar sign as a witness"

The DCP ordered.

"Understood, sir"

The man replied.

"Anything else either of you would like to add, Ms. and Mr.?"

I shook my head.

"No, sir"

But the professor interjected,

"I need a promise that no one will disturb my Seetha anymore"

Aww! How sweet'uh!

The DCP smiled lightly and said,

"I promise. I'll ensure this matter is closed soon"

They shook hands, sealing the assurance.

Murali then led us to a small office room where we silently wrote and signed the letters. Before we could leave, I stopped Aayush sir by gently holding his hand. He turned to me, his expression puzzled.

"Enna aachu, ma?"

(What happened, ma?)

He asked softly.

I smiled and said,

"DCP sir ivlo neram porumaaya namma soldradhu kettaaru illa? Thanks sollaama epdi poradhu? Apro naan indha jacket yeppo return pannanum'nu vera kekkanum"

(DCP sir listened to us patiently, right? We should thank him before leaving. And also, I need to ask him when I should return this jacket)

He smiled and said,

"Thanks solleetu polaam. Aana jacket'laa return panna venaam, nee pottuta'le? Neeye vachukko"

(We can say thanks and leave. But don't return the jacket, keep it. It's yours now)

I grinned at my possessive kid.

"Chey, yen ipdi irukkinga neenga? Anna maadhiri, professoreyyy. Vaanga.."

(Why are you like this? He's like my brother, professor. Come on..)

I grabbed his arm and dragged him inside.

I knocked politely before opening the door, but as I stepped in, I paused in surprise. A woman in a saree stood by the DCP, arranging food on his table.

"Ms. Seetha?"

Snapping out of my thoughts, I averted my gaze to the DCP and gave him a small smile.

"Come in"

He invited warmly.

I stepped inside, and Aayush sir followed closely.

"Sollunga. Anything you want to say?"

(Tell me)

"Yes, sir. Thank you"

I said sincerely.

The DCP frowned slightly.

"For what?"

"Neenga naanga soldradhu ellam porumaaya kettuttu irundhel. Adhukku dhaan, sir"

(You listened to everything we said patiently, sir. That's why..)

I explained.

He gave a small chuckle.

"That's my job, right? Anyway, thanks to both of you for cooperating so well"

I smiled again, and then his next words caught me off guard.

"And also, congratulations. Yeppo kalyanam?"

(When is the wedding?)

"Kalyanam?"

(Wedding?)

The woman beside him exclaimed, her eyes lighting up.

"I thought they were already married!"

I blushed furiously under her amused gaze.

Achoooo!

"We're going to get married soon, sir"

Aayush sir replied calmly, but I could feel my cheeks growing hotter.

Aaraadhu ivara niruthungalen, da.

(Someone, stop him, please)

"That's wonderful! You make a nice couple, Mr. Professor"

The DCP teased with a grin.

I took a step back, only to freeze when my back bumped into his chest, cursing myself for making the situation even more embarrassing.

"Professor?"

The woman asked, turning to the DCP in surprise.

"Aama, ma. Apdi dhaane, Seetha?"

(Yes, ma. Am I right, Seetha?)

He asked, clearly enjoying the moment.

I grinned shyly.

"Aamaa, sir"

The woman's eyes widened.

"Oh, so you're... his..."

"Yes, mam"

I confirmed softly,

"Naan avaroda student"

(I'm his student)

Her face lit up with excitement.

"Wow! This is like something out of a movie. Amazing! Who fell in love first?"

"Naan dhaan, ma'am.. avaru oru waste'uh fell..."

(Me, mam. He is such a waste fell..)

I gulped my words and immediately changed,

"Apdi'nu solla mudiyaadhu. He's a bit of a decent type"

(No, we can't say like that.. He's a bit of a decent type)

I then diverted my gaze as I felt Aayush sir's gaze on me, clearly intrigued by my words.

The couple chuckled warmly.

"Okay then, Seetha, be safe. And don't use that power unnecessarily"

The DCP advised kindly.

"Sure, DCP, sir. Unga pair kooda super'ah irukku!"

(You and your partner look great together too!)

I replied with a wide smile.

The DCP looked amused but nodded.

"Good luck to both of you"

We thanked them, and I hesitantly asked when I should return the jacket. He told me to keep it, and when I tried to refuse, his wife, Ashwathy, gently insisted as well. So, I nodded in acceptance, a small smile spreading across my face. After exchanging warm smiles with the lovely couple, we stepped out of the cabin.

The moment we were outside, Appa rushed to my side, wrapping his arm around me in a protective side hug. I hugged him back tightly, and he pressed a gentle kiss to the top of my head.

"Unakku onnum illa'le, paapa?"

(Are you okay, baby?)

He asked, his voice laced with concern.

"Illa pa, naan nanna dhaan irukken. Adhaa professor irundh.."

(No, dad. I am completely fine. Aren't I with the professor, then wh..)

Before I could finish, Appa gently moved away and walked towards Aayush sir.

He clasped his hands together in gratitude.

"Thanks, thambi. Romba nandri"

(Thank you so much)

Appa said, his voice trembling slightly.

Professor smiled gently, shaking his head.

"Adhellam venam, sir. It's my duty to protect her"

(No mention, sir)

Appa offered a faint smile in return.

"Appo naanga kelamburom, sir. Auto pudichu poiduvom. Ini namakkulla enna irukku illayaa? Aana.. romba nandri, sir. Indha help naan eppavum marakka maaten. Thank you. Anandhi..."

(So, we will leave now, sir. We'll take an auto and head off. After this, there is nothing between us, right? But... thank you so much, sir. I will never forget this help. Thank you. Anandhi...)

I gulped, stunned by his words, as the weight of the moment settled between us.

Amma, too, stepped forward and added her own thanks.

"Thanks, sir. Romba thanks"

(Thanks a lot)

She said, her voice soft yet sincere.

Then both of them turned back to me. Appa wrapped his arm protectively around my shoulders and started walking forward.

"Vaa ma, polaam"

(Come on, dear. We'll leave..)

He said firmly.

"Aana, Appa.."

(But, dad..)

I tried to protest, but one stern look from him rendered me speechless. I walked with them, my heart heavy, turning back to glance at my man as he stood there, watching me with a mix of confusion and heartbreak.

What just happened? Why was Appa behaving like this?

I sat between my parents in the auto but my mind swirling with emotions.

The happiness from his proposal earlier seemed to fade away, overshadowed by the heaviness of the present moment.

Why was this happening to us always?

But no matter what, I was determined.

I would marry him-my man.

If I had to fight the world or make my way to him on my own for that, I would.

I need him by my side, always. And that was all that mattered.

As we reached home and I was about to enter my room, I froze in my tracks.

Words from my parents towards me from the living room, leaving me stunned and gasping in shock.

What? Did I hear them right?

Perumaal, what is happening here?
