-EPILOGUE

"She's so beautiful."
Pedro nodded, head leaning on Willow's shoulder watching their child spin in circles.
"Do you think she has issues?"
Willow nodded, letting out a sigh. "Yeah, but in a good way."
As if understanding them, she stopped, sitting on her bottom and looking up at them. She tilted her head, ears flopping.
"What should we name her?" Willow asked aloud.
"Vader?" Pedro suggested.
Bark.
Pedro laughed. "Damn, dog, okay not a Sith Lord, then."
"Princess?"
Pedro gave her a funny look. "Baby, that's your name, why would I name our dog that? The most common Spanish household dog name," he added under his breath.
Willow blushed at his words, a light laugh slipping from her lips. "Okay then, you come up with one."
"I did, I suggested Vader."
"Well, I suggested Princess."
"That's a stupid name, come up with another."
"Pedro!"
He laughed, pressing a kiss to her temple, his left hand running gently along her arm.
"I'm teasing, princesa," he emphasized the nickname, kissing her cheek loudly. "But we're not naming our dog that. What do you want to be named?" He asked the Labrador mix.
Bark.
"I don't speak your language, pal, I'm sorry."
Willow giggled, jumping when another dog leapt into her lap.
"Oh, hi there, pretty baby!" She gushed, rubbing behind Edgar's ears. Edgar was Pedro's dog, barely three last week (if the birthday party was anything to go by) and Willow absolutely adored him.
But on a sporadic trip to the shelter, Willow and Pedro met "Spot" the thirteen-month old labrador and adopted her immediately, with the intent to change her name.
Elphaba, Willow's gecko, lived in the guest bedroom and Edgar wasn't allowed to be near her. (After nearly killing her when Willow was at the store once, breaking through the glass on her terrarium.)
They'd moved in together five months prior, after nearly a year of dating. It didn't feel rushed, they were always at the other's home and they just decided to take another step.
"Arwen?" Pedro asked finally after a moment of silence, excluding Willow's occasional coos to Edgar.
"Like, Lord of the Rings?"
"Could be cute."
"Could be a pass. I love her but I'd name a kid Arwen not a puppy."
"You want to have kids?" He looked over at her, eyes moving across her face. "Someday?"
"With you?" Willow half-smiled. "I'd love to have them. But I think I'd adopt, if anything? It just feels right. Pregnancy scares me and there are so many other kids that—"
"—Fuck, I love you."
Willow blushed, shoving him with her free hand. "Shut it."
"One day," he pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "But for now, we have a fur-baby to name."
"Sophia?"
He looked over her face, a smile warming his handsome one. "Like Golden Girls?"
Willow shrugged. "Edgar and Sophia. I think it's kind of cute."
"I think you're kind of cute."
He pressed a soft kiss to her neck and she breathed out a light laugh at the tickling sensation.
"Sophia it is."
—
"The Last of Us?"
"It's a video game."
"Yeah, I know what it is," Willow gushed excitedly. "It's only one of the most gut-wrenching and emotional stories ever brought onscreen. You're casted as Joel?"
"Yeah, and it took forever to realize that."
"I didn't think you could get much hotter."
"Oh?" Pedro tugged her closer by the waist, breathing in her scent. Vanilla and strawberries; sweet and gentle, a serene dream from which he never wanted to wake.
"Seriously, though, I'm proud of you."
"Thanks, corazón," he pressed a kiss to her temple. "I love you."
—
"...and an elope? Wasn't your family upset?"
Willow shrugged, letting out a light laugh at Jimmy's words. "We had a reception after where our families and close friends were invited. But we didn't want the hassle of a wedding. We're both busy now that he's doing Last of Us and Mandalorian, and I'm shooting between Mandalorian and something else I can't talk about."
"Oh, a secret film?" Jimmy leaned over his desk. "You can tell me, Willow, we're friends."
Willow laughed. "That we are, Jimmy, but I end up mysteriously dead if I say anything. So, no, I rather like being alive."
The audience laughed and Willow caught sight of Pedro backstage, smiling at her adoringly. Her heart thumped against her chest as though seeing him for the first time.
"Fine, then," Jimmy brought her attention back to the show. "But I do have a surprise game for you."
"Oh, Jimmy, I love playing games on your show."
"I know!" He laughed. "Alright, ready the countdown..."
—
"And the Oscar goes to...Willow Sandler!"
Willow gasped, shock flooding her. She felt Pedro jump up, cheering for her and slowly stood, straightening her dress.
"This is Sandler's first win, having never been nominated for an award previously. She wins this award for..."
"Fuck yeah, baby," Pedro smiled down at her and she pulled him into a tight hug, warmth spreading through her limbs. "I'm so proud of you," he squeezed her arms gently, leaning down and pressing a kiss her lips.
"Go," he shooed her sweetly. "Collect your prize, mi amor."
Willow nodded, leaving his presence and walking up the steep steps slowly, trying not to trip — Jennifer Lawrence's clumsiness ringing through her brain — and made it up without trouble.
"That's my wife!" Pedro's voice shouted above the applause and a roar of laughter went through the crowd.
Willow chuckled, a blush tinting her cheeks as she walked across the stage. Halle Berry handed the Oscar to her with a kind smile and Willow took it shakily.
"Holy shit," She swore into the microphone nervously. "Sorry, can I say that? I'm sorry. Wow, I am in shock. Um, firstly, thank you to the Academy for this award."
"I want to thank my dad, first and foremost. For being there my entire life and always making light of bad situations that I've almost always found myself in. And Robert, my best friend in the whole world, there is no way I'd be standing here, alive, let alone getting this award without you."
Willow fought back tears, clutching the Oscar like a lifeline. The lights and camera were too bright to see the faces in the crowd, but she knew Pedro was looking at her, that familiar adoration and unyielding love ever present on his face.
She took a deep breath. "For my mom," her voice cracked. "I wish you could be here to see this. I miss you everyday, but this award is for you and everything you weren't able to do. And for Pedro," she sniffled. "The love of my life, my other half, my absolute favorite person. I love you today, tomorrow, and everyday after that, after time stops existing and the universe is nothing but atoms. I will love you. And I thank you for pushing me everyday to be better and choosing myself when I previously didn't know how. Thank you to the directors, and RDJ, without whom, I couldn't do this."
"And to every little girl," she smiled at the camera, trying not to cry. "Or grown woman who has a man breathing down her neck. Whether that be your father or your brother or your significant other, don't you let him crush you. Because you are better than that. You are better than him. And you are capable of doing incredible things. And you will find someone who will love you as much as you deserve. Thank you."
Cheers and applause ensued as she left the stage, handing the award back and wiping her tears. She found Pedro a moment later, having walked back to congratulate her, and practically threw herself into his arms.
"I love you," she mumbled into his neck.
"I love you, too."
