She never planned on having to finish high school early so she could support her and her daughter. And she never planned on having to raise her child alone without her family near her.

But she had no regrets about it.

Despite having no contact with her family, she managed to raise her daughter alone and with no help. She found her people with the Diaz family—a young, semi-fractured family that consisted of a mother, father, and their young son who suffered from cerebral palsy.

She became their son's godmother and they became the aunt and uncle that her daughter needed. They were more than friends, they were family. A family that fractured when the mother left and her husband and son were suddenly alone.

A call from California would bring them together again...

𝐍𝐎𝐀𝐇 𝐁𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐄𝐘 would be the first to say that he was fiercely protective of his brother and sister. He never liked his sister's husband and would find any excuse to go and visit them, just to make sure that she was okay. Despite her many attempts to tell him she was fine, he never believed her.

He never wanted to be right, though.

His younger brother was the baby of the family, but he still became the child his parents ignored the most. Which led to him and his sister spending much of their teenage years and adolescence raising him.

When his sister moved with her husband, Noah moved to California, deciding it was a good time to start living his life. He joined a firehouse in Los Angeles, became a paramedic, and found a family within the fire department.

His brother would join him two years later, and their sister the year after that, finally escaping the grasp of her abusive husband.

He never expected California to give him his family...

𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐃𝐀𝐖𝐒𝐎𝐍 loved her mother with her whole heart. She was the one constant in her life and would defend her against anybody who ever doubted her capabilities as a mother. To her, she was the best mother in the world.

She was her hero.

She never knew her father. She knew he had left before she was born, but she had no strong desire to ever meet him. But she did want that father-daughter relationship. It was something she yearned for. As much as she loved her mother, she always felt jealous when she would see her classmates with their fathers.

She wanted that.

When her mother told her they would be moving to California to reunite with her uncle and his son, she couldn't have been more excited. She missed them more than she imagined she would, and she was excited for the change. Texas was too hot for her liking.

She never thought that California would be the place to answer her wishes...

━ this book will technically have three perspectives—sawyer, noah, and aurora. it will mostly be from sawyer's perspective, but all three will have storylines that I'm excited for you all to read! aurora is sarcastic and sweet; sawyer is fierce and protective; and noah is loyal and loving—the perfect combination in my opinion.
