Inuusiq
Inuusiq- Inuktitut for 'life'.
And that is what I've tried to portray. Life.
So what is it that ties us together? It it, like Chris Hadfield said, the hardware store Canadian Tire? Maybe, lol.
But I think it's love.
Love for our country, for each other.
Love that can be felt, even across the Atlantic.
The world of scouting has lost a great man, and Canadians have lost a countryman.
So, above all other dedications, this book is for Chas. For his love of his country, for his love of scouting.
This book is for campfires, 15 minute AGMs, sing songs, and endless supplies of chocolate brownies.
It's for scouts getting up and making a fool of themselves, not caring in the slightest.
Kids getting the chance to be kids, to race round, shouting, covered in mud; even at a funeral.
It's for 'moose moose alpaca', and all the other campfire songs performed by generations of scouts with Chas in mind.
Gone, but not forgotten.
Thank you for your endless, selfless contributions to not only British scouting, but the Scouting Organisation across the globe.
Across Canada, England, even New Zealand and the rest of the world,
As long as there is a campfire,
There is Chas
