Chapter 59

Sungjae and Jungkook walked a little to get away from Hoseok's hearing range and once they did, Sungjae turned towards Jungkook.

"I'll get straight to the point. I need to ask you something and I hope you don't mind it." Sungjae gave a heads up and Jungkook only nodded wondering what he wanted.

"Is there something going on between you and Tae?" Jungkook's heart clenched as he tried to shake away the possible question Sungjae might be asking him after this.

"Wh-what do you mean?" He stuttered against his will but that was, kind of, expected since he was now only waiting for the bomb to drop on him.

"Exactly that. Is there something between you two? As in, a relationship or something?" Before he could register the question and answer reasonably his panic kicked in and Jungkook held his hand in air as he shook his head vigorously.

"NO! No. There's no such thing." Sungjae relaxed visibly and let out a long sigh as his stiffness died down. He let out a small chuckle before he spoke.

"Well then, that means you have no problem if I'm dating him. Awesome." And Sungjae gave a pat on Jungkook's shoulder slightly before muttering a 'great, thanks' and walking away.

Jungkook felt like there was no ground beneath him anymore. He felt like his heart dropped down and dug its way to the core of the earth. His knees were about to give in when Hoseok came up and asked.

"What did he say?"

If it wasn't for the right timing, Jungkook would have been on the ground by now but now he couldn't. He had to put on a show because he couldn't let Hoseok know that Sungjae just ripped him inside out. Actually, Taehyung did. But he didn't have the guts to say it to Jungkook so he sent Sungjae to do it for him. Jungkook's eyes began to sting but he ignored it. He had to.

"Nothing much." Jungkook was a pro at poker face but right now he wasn't able to handle the situation and he needed Hoseok gone. So without letting the older speak he changed the topic.
"Jimin said he needs your help. He asked me to send you over."

Jungkook had no idea how on point his little lie was. Hoseok stopped himself from saying whatever he was about to say when he heard that.
"He did?"

Jungkook gave a nod and added.
"He just texted me."

Hoseok thought over why Jimin texted Jungkook for that and not him, but then dismissed the idea.
"You stay here, okay? I'll see what he wants and come back, right here."

Jungkook nodded again and with that Hoseok took off. Once he disappeared Jungkook left out a shaky breath as he felt tears pooling in his eyes. How could Taehyung do that? How could he play with him so cruelly? And through Sungjae? He sent him instead of coming himself?

Jungkook walked over and past the table they were sitting at a while ago and reached the beach. He sat down after walking a fair distance and looked ahead.

/You're an asshole, Tae. I'll never forgive you for this. I hate you. I hate you so much. And I always will./

"I hate you, Kim Taehyung." Jungkook muttered out as he picked a pebble and imagined Taehyung's face on it before throwing it as far away into the ocean as he could.

Hoseok reached the room and knocked on it.

"Who is it?" Jimin asked in a bored tone from inside.

"It's me." Hoseok tapped his feet impatiently as he waited for the door to open. Soon shuffling was heard and in the next second the door was unlocked and flung open.

"Why did you come here?" The very first thing Jimin said to Hoseok as he saw him made Hoseok confused.

"You called me here. That's why." Hoseok said each word slowly as if trying to convince himself.

"No I didn't."

"Didn't you text Kookie and ask him to send me over here?" Hoseok asked again trying to get a second confirmation but Jimin shook his head in denial again.

"Why what happened?" As Hoseok was about to leave Taehyung asked and stopped Hoseok. The older turned around and instead of answering his question remembered something else he needed to ask.

"Tae, when did you come back last night?" Taehyung was slightly taken aback by the unexpected question but he recollected himself quickly.

"Somewhat late. Why?"

"Did you see Kookie's hand?" Taehyung knew exactly what Hoseok was talking about but he still decided to act oblivious, for an unknown reason.

"No. What happened?" Hoseok paused and stared at Taehyung's face for a second before he moved forward and stopped only inches away from him.

"What happened to his hand?" Jimin intervened instantly but Hoseok didn't respond to him.

"Tae, I grew up with you. You can fool others but I can see right through you. So, don't even try." Taehyung gulped as he tried to maintain his posture but once Hoseok's sleek eyebrow raised, Taehyung's hands flew in the air and he turned around to walk back to bed.

"He didn't want my help, okay?" Taehyung was much louder than he intended to be. Hoseok glanced at Jimin but neither said anything hoping Taehyung would continue without asking but when he didn't, Hoseok spoke up.

"What do you mean?"

Taehyung sighed tiredly as he looked up at Hoseok and Jimin.
"He doesn't want me around him. That's what I mean. He even asked me what was I doing there? Why else would he ask that?"

Jimin looked at Hoseok and gritted out.
"Will you tell me what happened to him or not?"

Hoseok turned to Jimin to answer him because the latter was getting angrier by each passing second.
"He got a cut on his right hand by a broken glass. It was an accident."

"What? Is he okay?" Jimin's eyes were the size of a saucer, now.

"Yeah. But I don't know exactly when he got hurt. I had to redo the dressing, though. It's was done so poorly and he didn't even cleanse the wound properly so it was bleeding a lot. That's obvious why, but he did a pretty good job for a right handed guy. I'll give him that." Hoseok glared at Taehyung as he said that and Jimin's gaze darted between the two of them.

"Wait. So you just left him alone knowing that, Tae?" Jimin was gaping at Taehyung unable to decide whether he should or shouldn't be angry. After all, Taehyung was in a situation, too and because of Jungkook, no less.

"He wanted me to leave him alone. What was I supposed to do? Lay him on my lap?" Taehyung sounded annoyed when he answered.

Jimin came to stand next to Taehyung and took in a deep breath to calm himself before speaking.
"That's not true, Tae. He just doesn't know how to handle it." Hoseok nod his head when Jimin looked back at him, encouraging him to go on.

"How do you know that? He has been clearly pissed at me for days now." Taehyung looked to his feet as he dangled them.

"Why would he be pissed at you?" Taehyung blushed a little at Hoseok's question but then remembered the younger's reaction after that and the redness went away.

"Because I did something stupid."

"You're always doing something stupid. What was new this time?" Jimin tried to lift the heaviness from the atmosphere but Taehyung only smiled sadly at that.

"I kissed him on the cheek the other day." Taehyung mumbled so low that Jimin and Hoseok barely heard it.

"O-on the cheek?" Hoseok looked at him in disbelief but Taehyung didn't get the surprise in his tone as he just nodded still looking down.

"All this drama for a kiss on the cheek?" Hoseok chuckled but when Taehyung looked up at him with glassy eyes, his amusement died.

"He hasn't even looked at me right, after that. So obviously it wasn't just a kiss, Hobi."

"Sorry." Hoseok apologized immediately as he came and crouched down in front of Taehyung before he spoke.
"But Tae, I don't think you understand this. Kookie isn't mad at you because of that. He's just confused."

Jimin sat next to Taehyung as he joined in.
"He's right, Tae. Kook doesn't know how to deal with this so he's just shocked. I have known him for half of my life and I can guarantee you that he isn't mad at you." Taehyung looked aside at Jimin with hopeful eyes and Jimin continued.
"If anything, he's just upset that you started ignoring him after that."

Taehyung almost jumped in his spot making Hoseok stumble and fall back.
"I'm not ignoring him. He's ignoring me."

Hoseok got back up and stood in front of both of them as he brushed his pants.
"Well then, it's just a big misunderstanding and you should clear it."
Taehyung looked up at Hoseok who was already moving towards the door to leave.
"Are you sure, though?"

"As sure as I'm about you failing the next maths exam." Hoseok's guarantee made Jimin laugh out loud but Taehyung punched them both before joining in the laugh. The heavy weight on his chest was finally lifted.

"We'll leave now. You can take care of it from here on your own, right Tae?" Jimin also got up and walked over to Hoseok as they opened the door to leave Taehyung. Taehyung smiled back at them before they left. Once they were gone, Taehyung took out his phone and typed Jungkook a text.

Tae: Where r u?

Tae: I need 2 talk 2 u about smthng.

He waited for a while after that but Jungkook didn't reply.

Tae: Kookie?

Another minute went by but still nothing so Taehyung called Hoseok, immediately.

"Yeah?"

"Where did you leave Jungkook at?"

"The hut restaurant on the other side."

"Ok. Bye."

"Wh-" Taehyung hung up before Hoseok could ask him and rushed out to the said place.

He couldn't stop himself from grinning like an idiot.

/It was all just a big misunderstanding./
