Riot grrrl is a feminist movement originating in the 90s. They often discussed topics such as sexism, rape, domestic abuse, sexuality, and female empowerment. They also talked about issues they had in the punk subculture.

It was created as a safe space for girls and to show it's not just guys in the punk subculture. Riot grrrl was also a safe space for lgbtq+, and people of many ethnicities, cultures, and religions.

Popular riot grrrl band were Bikini Kill, L7, and Brat Mobile.

At concerts they often told guys to give girls more room at mosh pits.

Many guys were angered by this movement and things could get violent. Many guys also really liked the riot grrrl movement.
