Forty One
Nurses Office - Melanie Martinez
"I can't remember."
"Oh come on you got this."
"I don't know, Hector?"
"No Achilles."
"How did you honestly expect me to remember this? There's like 1000 characters in this book!"
Ten giggles fondly at the stressed ravenette while they study for their Greek Mythology exam tomorrow. They've been sitting alone at a separate table from Johnny, Felix and Jaemin since they're the only two that this class they're studying for. It's pretty dark outside now, showing their dedication in studying for majority of the day, but soon Jeongguk will have to go to Taehyung's house to continue studying everything else that he needs to catch up on.
He's seen Taehyung's library once and it's fucking huge, so that's why he's pretty excited to get into studying in that vintage looking scenery.
Meanwhile as for now thankfully Jeongguk and Ten have finished most of their flashcards, knowing for a fact that they are ready to tackle this exam, unless it tackles them instead.
Things has surprisingly not been awkward between them. They've been communicating and acting like they usually do. No mentions of that night have been exchanged between them, and neither of the two have seen Woosung.
Ten is actually annoyed by his presence if he does see him but it's because he's hurt more than angry. Sure he knew his chances with Jeongguk were little to nothing but now with Woosung is equally the same way. Meanwhile Jeongguk is more anxious if he does bump into him.
He doesn't like losing people in his life, but I guess him and Woosung were never friends to begin with.
Distance is good.
While Jeongguk figures himself out at least.
He's been studying a lot. Studying the words of God, reading and reading while taking notes and figuring out the true meanings behind them. To his own perspective as he spoke with Taehyung. He's learnt a lot about God's love for everyone and things, no matter what or who they are. The significance of forgiving. Learning to live with love in one's heart, no matter how passionate the grudge is.
All on his own he's learned a lot, and even though he's still not sure of his identity, he's figuring it out as time passes.
As long as he has the people he cares about him around him, he doesn't care about rushing time to figure it out.
"Baby," Ten calls as they start packing their books, "Do you mind putting this book back for me?"
Jeongguk grabs the textbook without as much as a complaint and goes to the aisle where they got this. Just as Jeongguk was about to turn and go in, he sees a familiar face standing there.
A face that he can only remembering beating his body up behind a bush.
Someone who has made it their only mission to make Jeongguk's life here in this school a living hell.
Mingyu.
He's with a couple of guys, talking with a vape pen between their fingers. Unfortunately Jeongguk wasn't fast enough to leave because Mingyu turns his head, noticing the shakily mute boy standing there.
He smirks.
"Oh well look who we have here," Mingyu remarks sarcastically, "Wrong aisle, church boy."
It all happened so fast when Jeongguk is yanked in, hands of two jocks on his body as they shackle him to the bookshelf, pinning him there to prevent him from escaping. All Jeongguk can do is stutter, his throat clenching tightly to the point he can't even make any noises anymore.
Just like what happened when they beat him behind the bush.
Not being able to speak, let alone scream for help.
"What the matter little saint? Can't speak?" Mingyu snickers, inhaling from his vape pen and blowing it against Jeongguk's face, "What a shame, your friends sure look like they do a lot of talking though, especially the little one. Ten is it?"
Jeongguk's eyes snapped to a glare at this, making Mingyu's smirk widen, "Ah, little protective now aren't we? Or perhaps your a little fag that God disgraced in this Earth."
Now this made Jeongguk's lips drop to a frown, glare dropping in shame to his words as they let it hit his biggest weakness.
His faith.
The mockery that this is a sin.
"You know I'm right," Mingyu continues to mock, nudging Jeongguk's face with his fist, "Little bastard son too, most likely."
Jeongguk only stares him directly in the eyes, tear glistening his innocent orbs with lips pursed to the way they're desperate to sob. He just wants to go home. Actually not even home because then his parents are going to be scolding him about church like how they've been doing since he hasn't been attending the youth services.
Just one day of a break.
One day of no one telling him anything is all he asks for.
The times he has had to hide his pain by walking straighter or smile to hide how his body ached in front of his friends are way to many to count.
Just a break.....
So Jeongguk only embraces himself as Mingyu raises his fist, ready to collide it to his face.
"Touch him and you will end up with no hands."
Jeongguk and Mingyu both snaps their heads down the aisle, to Jeongguk's utter relief seeing Woosung there.
He's not looking at them though, more so on an anatomy book with furrowed eyebrows as he scrolls through the pages. However when his glare snaps up to look at them, the irony of his threat and the book he's interested in holding right now does send vile thoughts to cruise through all of their minds.
When Woosung's gaze suddenly met Jeongguk's there's nothing there that he can see. It's only an empty darkness that if one fall into it they'll find themselves lost, nothing but with an angry monster that's trapped in a cage.
The key being inside, deciding whether it's worth coming out or not.
That's a description of Woosung's rage at the moment; Deciding whether he should bash Mingyu's head against the book shelf until he's physically bleeding, or if he should stay calm for the sake that Jeongguk is here.
Even Jeongguk is obvious of this debate with the other male, so he slowly shakes his head.
That was all he needed to see.
So Woosung closed his book, putting it back in the shelf and strides towards them, "Leave, last chance."
Mingyu's boys all glanced at each other, one of them patting Mingyu on the shoulder to leave.
But of course, Mingyu being the basic prideful man that he is, challenges this threat, "Aw, saving the damsel in distress," He mocks, grinning widely, "Cute."
"And that's a problem?" Woosung is now to his face, eyes narrowed now, "If I see you near him again, I will break your wrists and shove both of them up your ass. Who will be the fag then?"
Mingyu's grin drops, the clear hesitation behind his stare as Woosung remains sickly calm but his murderous eyes says all there needs to say.
So without another word, Mingyu annoyedly let's Jeongguk ago, giving him one last glare before moving past Woosung with the rest of his posse and leaving the aisle.
By now Jeongguk can't even function well to what just happened. He's frozen against the bookshelf, still shaking and more so awestruck that he didn't even up with any bruises today.
Must be a new record.
Slowly he looks at Woosung, who only looks off to where Mingyu left before snapping his eyes to him.
There's clearly this tension in between the air, yet they couldn't find it in themselves to speak or sign. Jeongguk doesn't know what to even sign, but he suddenly felt himself press back against the book shelf when Woosung stands in front of him, leaning to his face.
What the fuck!
Didn't they say no kissing!!
Now is not the time! Or ever!
Jeongguk's pulses quickens, his breath shuddering past his lips as Woosung gets closer to his face with one hand raising up to the book shelf behind him.
Woosung studies his eyes carefully, tilting his head almost questioning. Despite being two inches taller than him, Jeongguk still felt small. His mind coils to the night of their first kiss, the movie night where his desire was intensified, than to the night of the club.
Thinking about it still fills him with this sense that his skin is dirty, not being the pure boy anymore, but slowly that began to fade away as he glances at Woosung's lips.
The lips that has single handedly fucked with his entire mind. All it took was one kiss, just one simple fucked up kiss in the dark for Jeongguk to want more. To feel the spark of desire once again, maybe to see what Woosung has in store for his innocent and inexperienced mind.
Yet as those thoughts began to intensify, Woosung's eyes moves past Jeongguk and his hand grabs a book from the shelf, sliding it out while taking a step back.
Another anatomy book.
Wait what?
Jeongguk furrows his eyebrows as his adrenaline subsides, confused to what just happened, but Woosung only flips through the book and turns around, walking out down the aisle and taking a turn.
There's a moment where Jeongguk didn't move, he didn't even feel himself breathe as he stares off to where Woosung disappeared off to.
Meanwhile to the other side of the aisle stands Ten, who arrived to the scene when he saw Mingyu leave the aisle.
Feeling every piece of his heart shredding to pieces on the palm of his hand, all he can do is slowly nod to himself and turn around without a word.

A/N:
I'm thinking about this concept a lot..... I'm a little contemplated but.... I think.... I think I know what I'm do.....
Just letting you guys know ahead of time that they're still in high school they are still new to some feelings or attractions, so you may see a few bumpy rides with the ships. Maybe the ships now won't even be together anymore in the future or be with someone else. After all this is a VMINKOOK friendship au, anything could happen haha
I kinda like the concept of putting almost all my stories into this story. As in all the characters somehow traces back to a story and it's just so refreshing and nostalgic to read.
Let's see what happens!
I PURPLE YOU!!! <3333
