Control

After Riki came clean about his bulimia to his friends, they decided to watch his favorite movie, Beauty and the Beast, as a way of showing their support and saying that they care for him. I sat between Riki and Bex, holding Riki's hand comfortingly to reassure him,

"See? I told you it would be okay. Your friends love you, let them support you."

I whispered to him, causing the raven haired boy next to me to squeeze my hand in return. In the middle of the movie, March received a phone call and stepped out of the room to take it. Jackson lowered the volume so we could eavesdrop on March. Petty, I know, but we were all brimming with curiosity. When the phone call was done, March stormed through the room,

"March, are you-"

"Fuck off, Jackson."

The ruby haired boy spit angrily at him as he stomped up the stairs to his room and slammed the door loudly behind him. The boys all looked at each other before Senri spoke,

"(Y/N), maybe you should go talk to him. He seems upset about something."

Before I could respond Bex jumped in,

"Senri, you can't send her up there. Not with March's-"

"If anyone can reason with him it's her. You remember what he told us."

"I know what he said, but with his... issues-"

"What issues does March have?"

I interjected in confusion. Senri leaned back on the couch silently as Bex explained,

"March has anger issues. When he's home the house has to be kept fairly clean and we have to be careful how we act. He's usually fine but we never know what will set him off. It takes him a while to calm down and he can get violent when he's angry. I think it's best to leave him be for now. He'll talk to us when he's ready."

I nodded in understanding,

"I get what you're saying, but I would like to try and speak with him. Besides, if anything were to happen I have four friends who will make sure I'm safe."

"You're damn right we will."

Riki finally spoke, his tone gravely serious. Senri ran his fingers through his bangs to move them from his face,

"Then it's decided, good luck with him. If anything happens, we will be up there."

I nodded in affirmation as I went up the stairs and approached his door. I knocked gently and called out to him in a soft voice,

"March? It's (Y/N), are you alright? May I come in?"

"..."

"March? I'm worried about you. Won't you please let me in?"

"..."

There was more silence before I heard the soft click of his door unlocking. He slowly opened it and motioned me inside, shutting the door behind me. I sat down on his bed and he joined me as I began speaking,

"Who was that on the phone? Did something happen?"

March's jaw clenched at the question,

"None of your fucking business."

I looked down and sighed,

"You looked so angry afterwards. I was worried about you. Please talk to me? Don't keep what's upsetting you bottled up."

March laughed at my comment before speaking, bitterness lacing his tone,

"What good will talking about it do? It won't change the fact that my parents are passing the family business to my older brother even though he abandoned us to go live abroad all around the world. It won't change the fact that they've been pushing me towards medicine ever since he left when I was six years old for nothing. It won't change the fact that my family doesn't want anything to do with me anymore because I'm not the first born."

His tone escalated with each sentence he uttered. I tried to set my hand on his shoulder comfortingly, but to my surprise he not only shrugged it off, he pushed me off the bed, watching as I skidded across the floor and slammed into the wall,

"I don't want your goddamn sympathy! You abandoned me too! You're no better than my parents (Y/N)!"

He yelled furiously at me as he stalked over to me. I held the back of my head in pain as he approached me. Before he could hurt me further, Bex rushed in and jump tackled him. The ocean eyed teen, along with Jackson, held him down while Senri and Riki went to me. Upon seeing me on the floor, Riki immediately helped me up while Senri went over to March and punched him square in the jaw,

"What the hell is wrong with you? Can't you control yourself long enough to stop yourself from hurting people? Especially the person you claim to be the most important one in your life?!"

Senri's voice rose as anger filled him. Riki was holding me in his arms as we watched the tense scene unfolding before us. Senri turned his head and looked back at me,

"Riki, get her to her room and make sure she's taken care of. Jackson and Bex, we're leaving."

The two teens released March roughly as they quickly left the room with Riki and I. Senri was the last to leave, locking March in his room,

"He'll calm down in the morning. In the meantime, let's get you to your room."

I nodded as Riki helped me walk to my room,

"I think I can walk on my own."

I said as I pulled away from Riki slightly, only to find my steps faltering. Luckily, Riki and Bex caught me and helped me down the hall. I pretended I didn't see the jealous looks they exchanged as the five of us entered my room. Bex picked me up and gently placed me on the bed. I smiled kindly,

"Thank you, Bex. I'm sorry I couldn't calm him, guys."

Bex looked at me incredulously,

"Why are you apologizing???"

"Because now you're all at odds with him."

"If anyone should apologize, it's March. I have no idea what he was thinking."

Senri cut into our conversation, looking at me with embarrassment over the actions of his friend. Before I could respond, Jackson spoke,

"Did he say what made him so upset?"

I nodded,

"Yes. I think his parents are going to give the family business to his older brother. March feels slighted by his family because they've always pushed him into medicine when his interests lie elsewhere. He also feels that his parents abandoned him just like I did all those years ago."

"What do you mean?"

Riki inquired curiously. I turned to him and explained,

"I met him when I was very young at a playground. We became friends but I never knew his name. One day he just stopped showing up. I only found out the other day it was because his father got a job in a different area and they had to relocate. He never told me he was leaving because his mother had threatened me. I don't understand how I abandoned him."

The others nodded in agreement as Bex spoke,

"You didn't abandon him at all. He's just an ass. By tomorrow he'll have calmed down."

I smiled slightly as I laid back on the bed and Riki pulled the covers over me,

"Get some rest, okay? If you need us we'll be just down the hall."

I nodded in understanding as Riki left the room, followed by Senri and Jackson. Before Bex could leave I caught his arm,

"Can you stay with me tonight?"

I asked him softly. Bex smiled,

"Of course. March won't hurt you, (Y/N)."

He laid down next to me on top of the covers and rested his head on the pillow. I shut off the light and felt myself begin to drift off to sleep. Right before I did, I heard him say something so softly that if he weren't next to me I'd have missed it,

"Sleep well, My Sweet. March will pay for what he's done today."
