A Murder Most Foul
Hiiiiiiiiii! Sorry for the long wait I feel terrible T-T I took me a while to figure out exactly how I want to write the rest of this. As you've probably noticed things are starting to fall apart between (Y/N) and the guys, but the book isn't over yet! Some people have asked me if this book will have multiple endings and it will, that's why I want to make sure I write everything correctly and give you guys a great story with great endings. Thank you guys so much for supporting me and my book. I really love all of you xoxo anyhoo on with the story!!
When I woke up the next morning, I quickly got dressed and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. I figured things might be tense with the guys and I knew I had to smooth things over before I could do anything else. I heard the guys moving around in the kitchen, but they were all unusually silent. When I entered all five sets of eyes snapped to me. Bex and Riki looked happy to see me but I could tell they were a little sad as well, Jackson looked guilty, and March and Senri were fairly stoic. I sighed as I spoke,
"Look, I don't want things to be weird between us. I get that a lot has happened and you guys don't want me to get hurt--"
"Then why were you so angry when Senri said we want you to stay inside all the time?"
Bex asked, cutting me off. I directed my attention to the dark haired teen as I responded,
"Okay, even you have to admit that it was an odd thing to just blurt out. How did you expect me to react? Did you think I'd jump for joy at the idea?"
Bex looked down as he thought about what I said with a sullen look on his face,
"I guess not."
He replied, suddenly finding the table very interesting as he avoided my gaze. I looked over at Senri,
"After I went home yesterday, what happened with Rika?"
I saw the others stiffen at my question while Senri leaned back slightly in his chair,
"Well, she and I had a talk and I think that after our little chat she won't bother you ever again. Neither will her minions. You're welcome, by the way."
His tone was as stoic and apathetic as usual, but I got the impression he wasn't telling me everything. I decided I could press him more the next time he's alone. I looked at each of them, choosing my next words carefully as I spoke,
"I didn't mean to upset you guys. If it would make you feel better if I stay inside then I will. Do you forgive me?"
I asked, making my voice sound a little smaller as if I thought I was in the wrong. Jackson shot up out of his seat and hugged me, being careful of my bruises as he did,
"Of course we do! We didn't mean to scare you (Y/N)!"
He sobbed into my shoulder. I held him gently in my arms as I attempted to soothe the crying teen. I looked at the others and saw that they were smiling at me. It was an unsettling smile, but still a smile. Before I could say anything else, the house phone in the kitchen rang. Everyone exchanged a confused look as I reached over to answer it,
"Hello?"
"This is Principal Kim from (High/School/Name) High School. About an hour ago, the body of one of our students was discovered in a dumpster behind the campus. Two other students have also been reported missing so the police have advised us to close the school until this matter is solved. Your teachers will be contacting you through email regarding coursework and how the class will proceed until this matter is settled."
The automated response replied before automatically hanging up. I hung up the phone and turned to the guys,
"It looks like classes are cancelled for a while. They found a dead body on school grounds and two other people are missing."
I explained to the others, surprise and shock in my voice as I spoke. Jackson held me tighter as the others exchanged looks of worry,
"Did they say who died?"
March asked seriously. I shook my head,
"No, he didn't say who died or who went missing. It was pre-recorded so I couldn't exactly ask questions."
I replied, making a mental note to call Hiro later and ask him if he knows anything. His family has some....questionable connections, so he might know more about what's going on. I went into the living room with Jackson still glued to me and turned on the news. Sure enough, they were running the story,
"...although the families involved have asked that their children's names be omitted, we will continue to provide updates as often as possible. The body of the student was found early this morning by a teacher, but it is suspected the student was killed late last night between 11 and 2 in the morning. Anyone who noticed any suspicious behavior around that time is being asked to come forward, but police hold out little hope without being able to disclose the names of the victim and the students who have disappeared."
I listened to the rest of the report, but not much information was provided,
"Why wouldn't you want to release the name of the students? It might help in the investigation. Maybe someone saw them and doesn't even know it."
I commented as the others gathered around me to watch the report as well. Riki shrugged,
"Maybe the families don't want to see their child's face on the news. That must be hard on them."
I nodded in agreement,
"I guess that makes sense. I doubt the police will be able to find too much, but you never know. When my house burned the police figured out it was arson, but never caught who did it. I'll say this, though, I hope they catch who did it. I don't wanna end up dead or missing."
I said, shivering slightly at the memory of Naomi kidnapping me. Jackson clung to me like a koala,
"I don't think you'll have to worry about that."
Bex said absently, causing me to shoot him a questioning look,
"What makes you say that?"
I asked, causing March to cut in,
"Well think about it, our house isn't close to the school and there are a lot of us who live here. It'd be pretty difficult for one guy to break in and kill all of us. We'd definitely take him down before he could get to you."
March said, flexing his muscles slightly to prove that he's capable of protecting me and fighting some crazy dude. I laughed at his actions,
"I believe you. I know you guys wouldn't let anything happen to me. I guess it's a good thing I'm under house arrest then."
I said, watching their reactions to my statement. Jackson nodded enthusiastically into my shoulder,
"Yeah!! We can keep you nice and safe if you stay inside with us!"
He exclaimed happily, prompting me to play with his hair. He might have lied to me and I might not be thrilled with him at the moment, but he is too damn cute sometimes I just can't resist. If he was a cat I think he would've started purring as he moved into my hand. Bex and Riki looked jealous of Jackson, but they were happy I seemed alright with the idea of staying inside,
"I'm so glad you're not mad! I promise we're gonna do a lot of fun things so the time will fly by!"
Bex promised happily, prompting Riki to nod in agreement,
"We'll make sure you're happy and that you feel protected and safe."
His tone was warm as he smiled gently at me. I turned to Senri and saw him smiling slightly, but his eyes still held amusement,
"I'm glad you realize we only want what's best for you. Nothing bad can happen to you so long as you stay inside with us. We'll protect you from whatever dangers lurk outside."
He said, a hint of affection in his voice as he spoke. I smiled back,
"I'm so lucky to have you guys in my life."
I said as Jackson held my free hand in his,
"We're happy to have you in our lives too. We wanna keep you happy no matter what!"
he said enthusiastically as he looked up at me. I smiled again at his cuteness,
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. Being in this house with you guys does make me happy. We're a family."
I said, causing the others--Senri included--to give me a genuine smile with happiness in there eyes,
"Do you really feel that way?"
Bex asked quietly. I nodded,
"Of course I do. We all have darkness in our past and a family we weren't happy with, but as long as we're in this house we have each other. You guys built your own family and support system and I think that's really beautiful. I'm happy you guys wanted me to be part of your family."
I replied as I smiled at him softly. Bex's eyes began to water as he came over to me, yanking the Jackson koala off of me, and taking his place as he hugged and squeezed the life out of me. I laughed at his actions and put my arm around him as we all huddled together on the couch and watched TV. After a few minutes the guys began arguing over which movie we should watch so I quickly sent a text to Hiro,
Find out who died and went missing at my school and tell me everything.
He responded quickly,
I'm already on it.
I smiled and put my phone back in my pocket as the guys seemed to finally agree on some horror movie. Bex and Jackson cuddled up next to me under a blanket while we spent the rest of the day watching movies and tv shows. All of the guys seemed completely at ease, as if the small blowout yesterday didn't even happen and everything was back to normal.
Perfect.
