Danny took in Maxx's appearance and barely stopped himself from whimpering when the smile on his face transformed into a smirk.

"Are you going to let me in?"

Danny's eyes fluttered at hearing the smooth baritone and his breathing stuttered when Maxx leaned down until their faces were literally centimetres apart.

Danny was 5'5 on the dot while Maxx looked to be 6'3 or 4, he wasn't sure.

"Or are you afraid of what would happen if you let me in?" His hot breath caressed Danny's face and said guy whimpered softly, his grip on the doorknob tightening.

Maxx chuckled at his reaction and closed his eyes, breathing in deeply at the scent which wafted to his nose. "Fuck, you smell good."

Danny's eyebrows furrowed for a seconds before a look of understanding crossed his face when he realised that his hole began dripping slick.

Maxx breathed in deeply once more before opening his eyes, his pupils were blown wide with lust causing Danny to abruptly release his grip on the door.

"Maxx, don't... We can't." He backed away from the open door, biting his lip as Maxx kicked off his shoes and placed them on the shoe rack by the door; he then came in and closed the door behind him, key still in the lock.

"Don't worry, Dee. I can control myself around you. Right now, I just want to talk."

Danny swallowed and his words but nodded a second later. "Yeah." He cleared his throat then motioned for Maxx to follow him, a bit self conscious about the slick still coating his underwear.

"We'll get better privacy in my room." He licked his lips nervously when he felt Maxx brushing up against his back as he walked.

"Hmm... I wonder. Is it still the same or have you changed it?"

The last time Maxx had entered his room, it had been decorated with as much Anime posters, figurines and cut-outs as Danny could fit. Maxx knew how much he loved Anime so of course he would still think that Danny's room was still decorated that way.

"Uhh, nope. I sorta did a huge overhaul. Repainted the walls and everything." He walked up the stairs with Maxx in tow, eager to get out of his soiled underwear.

He wasn't ready to test Maxx's control.

Within seconds, they arrived in front of his door and he quickly entered, motioning for Maxx to sit on his bed. "I'm gonna get changed." He then quickly went over to his drawer and pulled out a pair of boxers and another pair of pants, rushing into the bathroom when he heard the lock click on his bedroom door.

'I'm so fucking dead!'

After getting changed, he soaked his clothing in water and body wash, anything to mask the scent of his slick until Maxx left. He had already wiped between his legs before he put on his clothing.

If only he had scent blockers, he wouldn't have to worry about this.

After smacking himself on the cheeks a couple of times in the mirror, he finally left the bathroom to see Maxx holding his phone in his hands.

He didn't have anything to hide or whatever on his phone so he just sat down next to Maxx in the bed, looking over to see Maxx looking at the pictures in his gallery.

"You were so cute back then."

Danny smiled and leaned his head on Maxx's shoulder, eyeing the picture of them eating the biggest pizza Danny had ever seen.

"God, you were so shocked that pizza this size existed." He chuckled lowly and wrapped an arm around Danny's hips. "I remember you trying to eat as much as you can because you didn't want your siblings to get any."

Danny laughed at that, remembering how greedy he was back then. He had never liked to share anything with his siblings except Kylie who had been two at that time.

"Yeah... I've matured since then, promise." He closed his eyes and breathed in Maxx's intoxicating scent, furrowing his eye brows at how much it had changed over the years.

He still smelt great but it was so unknown to him now, it made him realise that he really didn't know Maxx that well anymore.

It was a hard pill to swallow and because of this, he moved away from Maxx's hold, averting his gaze when Maxx looked at him in confusion.

"Dee?"

Danny steeled his resolve then looked back at him. They really needed to talk and he was just delaying the inevitable.

"Maxx, I-"

He was cut off by Maxx's finger on his lip.

He blinked up at him, looking into Maxx's eyes, patiently waiting for whatever the other was going to do.

But nothing happened.

They just continued looking at each other, taking in each other's matured features.

Danny released a shudder as Maxx's finger glided across his lips and to the side of his face where it then moved down his neck; he didn't move a muscle as Maxx's hand wrapped around his neck and tilted his head back.

Maxx then leaned forward and planted a kiss on the skin of Danny's neck, his breath caressing the unblemished skin and causing goose pimples to erupt.

"You taste so good, baby."

Maxx groaned as he continued placing kisses down Danny's neck, breathing in the delicious scent of the Omega.

All the while, Danny just allowed Maxx to position him however he wanted. He gave Maxx complete access to the smooth expanse of his neck.

He didn't have an Alpha so he wasn't being unfaithful to anyone.

Maxx took advantage of Danny's compliance and without a second thought, his lips attached themselves to the skin on Danny's collarbone; he began sucking at Danny's neck, intent on giving him a hickey.

"Uhhhh..." Danny groaned and buried his fingers in Maxx's hair, allowing Maxx to push his head back as he attacked the skin of his neck without mercy.

After a full two minutes of sucking at Danny's skin with brushing force, Maxx pulled back and admired the bruise for probably a second before he bent his head again and began sucking other hickeys on Danny's neck, pulling him closer when he began whimpering.

Danny squirmed in Maxx's hold, whimpering loudly when Maxx moved to a different section of his neck.

"M-Maxx!" He placed his hands against Maxx's chest and began pushing, trying to get away from the intense suction on his neck.

Maxx grunted and wrapped his other hand around Danny, trapping him against his chest as he practically ravaged the skin of Danny's neck.

If they didn't stop now, Danny was sure that Maxx would take him on his bed, hard.

If it wasn't for the fact that Maxx wasn't his mate then he would've let him knot him, but unfortunately, he still had his Alpha somewhere out there and he wasn't about to be branded a whore for sleeping around.

"Angh!" He grunted and with every last bit of his strength, he buried both of his hands in Maxx's hair and pulled.

Maxx's lips detached from his neck and their eyes connected.

His eyes were practically black and Danny knew that he was close to losing control so he did the only thing he could think of just as Maxx was about to lean down again.

*Slap!*

He released a shuddering breath then moved back away from Maxx's hold, eyes fixed in where his head was pivoted the side from the force of his slap.

"Maxx I'm sorry, but we can't." He got up off his bed, falling to the floor as his legs buckled under him. "Fuck!"

"Dee."

His head snapped up to see Maxx looking at him in apology, his eyesbrows furrowed. "Fuck, I'm so sorry."

For a beat, they just continued looking at one another before Maxx got up off the bed and helped him up off the floor; he then pushed Danny over to the chest of drawer and began pulling said guy's sheets of his bed.

"Hey, what?"

He continued looking at Maxx in confusion as he stripped his bed bare along with pulling the cases off the pillows.

"Your slick leaked on the bed." Was the only explanation he gave before he turned around, looking at him intently before motioning with his chin towards the bathroom. "Take a shower, you're coating the room in your pheromones."

Danny blushed hotly in embarrassment at that then quickly grabbed a change of clothes before rushing into the bathroom, locking the door behind him incase Maxx tried following him.

This wasn't going like he expected but that was life, no matter how much you expected things to go a certain way, they hardly ever did.

As soon as he entered the bathroom, he quickly stripped and dumped his clothing in the same bucket he had put his pants and boxers in then dumped some more body wash on them, soaking them under the water.

"God, please don't tell me that I have to start wearing underwear liners before my Heat."

He sighed in annoyance then got into the shower, turning the pipe so that the water rained down over his head and down the body.

He needed to wash everywhere since Maxx's scent was sure to be focused mostly on his neck.

He just hoped that the hickeys weren't as bad as he thought they would be. He really didn't fancy explaining anything to his overprotective family.

After washing his hair and massaging leave-in conditioner in his hair, he dried his body and put on his new change of clothes which considered of a thick jumper and loose fitting pants.

He then threw the towel he used in the clothes basket and wrapped another around his neck so that his still damp hair didn't wet his clothes.

"Okay, time to face the music again."

He unlocked the bathroom door and walked back into his room, surprise in his face when he noticed that Maxx had replaced his bed sheets and dumped the set he took off in the other clothes basket in his room.

Right now, he was sitting on Danny's computer chair, looking at him intently.

"Hey."

Danny looked anywhere but at him as he replied. "Hey." He tentatively walked towards his bed and sat down on the changed sheets.

"So..." He was still looking anywhere but at Maxx.

He heard said guy sigh before Maxx replied. "Look, Danny." His breath caught in his throat at the use of his name. Maxx was serious now.

"What just happened was a mistake." He looked down at his hands at that, a bit hurt even though he understood the truth in Maxx's words.

"I let my feelings overcome my better judgement and I sincerely apologize for that. I came over here today because we both need to talk to each other about what happened those years ago because of Dalton and Colby's meddling." He sighed before continuing, looking at Danny who still had his eyes averted. "Can you at least look at me?"

While he was speaking, Danny's thoughts were elsewhere. He was remembering the day that Maxx confronted him about the doctored pictures and how explosive their fight was.

God, that brought back bad memories.

Flashback

"Oh, so you're really standing in front of me lying to my fucking face?! You think I'm fucking blind or something?"

Danny shivered at the look in Maxx's eyes. Even if the other wasn't yelling, he could still hear the anger in his voice.

God, he hated it when Maxx was angry. He always spoke so calmly, as if nothing happened and that was what was scary. People like that were always unpredictable and Danny had only experienced this side of Maxx twice already.

The first was when he had ignored Maxx's advixw and had approached some guy on the street begging for money. The guy had ended up pulling a knife on him and tried to rob him. Maxx had easily knocked the dude out and called 999 before grabbing Danny's hand, pulling away from the unconscious body.

After they had entered his car, Maxx had turned to him, his gaze steely as he reprimanded Danny in that calm voice of his. It had left him shaken and he ended up sitting in Maxx's lap, crying his eyes out and begging for forgiveness.

The second time was when he had brought food in Maxx's room, ignoring the fact that he was pretty Anal about anyone entering his room without his permission.

He had ended up dropping food all over the carpet in Maxx's room just as said guy entered his room.

To say he was scared was an understatement. He hadn't asked for permission to enter Maxx's room as he had been out but he still should've known better than to enter and bring food.

Maxx had told him to get out in that same calm voice and he had gotten up from where he had been kneeling on the carpet, trying to clean up the food before scurrying out of the room.

Instead of waiting for Maxx to come out of his room, he had ran out of the house and back to his home as if Blood Hounds were on his arse, ignoring the voices of Maxx family asking him if he was okay and whatnot.

He had ended up hiding from Maxx for three solid days, ignoring his texts and calls before he literally broke down his door to get to him.

Yeah... An angry Maxx was the scariest to be around.

The third time was happening now as Maxx threw pictures of him kissing some guy at his feet.

"I'm telling you, I don't know who that guy is and I've never kissed anyone in my life, I swear!" Despite his fear of Maxx at the moment, he still approached him, knowing that he wouldn't ever put his hands on him no matter how angry he got.

Maxx huffed in disbelief, clenching his jaw as he looked at everything in the room but Danny.

"Maxxie, you've got to believe me. I have never in my life been with anyone but you."

God, he couldn't remember the last time he called Maxx that name.

Maxx snorted at his words, his jaw still clenched even as he looked back at Danny who was now standing in front of him.

"Why would I lie to you, Maxxie? Please, you've got to believe me, I don't know who that guy is."

"Would you just quit the bullshit, Danny? You expect me to believe that it isn't you in those pictures? God, you must take me for the biggest idiot ever." As he finished speaking, he pushed away from Danny, intending on leaving the room before his anger got the best of him.

He had never laid a hand on Danny and he really didn't want to now but with how angry he was, he didn't know what could happen.

The thought of Danny being unfaithful to him was getting too much to bare.

Before he could leave, Danny grabbed hold of his hand and molded himself to Maxx's side, effectively stopping him in his tracks.

"Maxx, please. You've got to believe me, you're the only Alpha in my life, I swear. I belong to you and you alone and I would never be unfaithful to you. You're my everything." He rested his face against Maxx's shoulder, tears streaming down his face at the thought of losing the love of his life. "P-Please, you've got to believe me, Maxx. You're my one and only, I promise."

He honestly didn't care how pitiful he sounded, he was about to lose the love of his life because of someone's stupid idea of a joke.

"If it was the other way around, would you believe me? Those pictures don't look photoshopped at all, Danny. Be honest, would you believe me if I was in your position?"

Danny had nothing to say to that but what he knew was that he trusted Maxx with his life, with his body, with his entire being.

The pictures looked real but they really weren't. He had not idea who would do something like this but that wasn't important right now, what was important was the manliterally seconds away from walking out of his life.

"I would. I have absolutely no reason to ever doubt you, Maxxie. If I was in your position, I would've trusted that you were telling the truth, so why can't you do the same and give me the benefit of the doubt?"

Spending so much time around Maxx, he had always done his best to act as Mature as he could. He didn't want Maxx to regret courting him because he was acting like an impulsive teenager. Maxx was already 18 and he was 14. He had his pick of Omegas but he chose to court Danny until he was of Age.

He may not know what his second gender was but the more time he spent around Maxx, the likelihood of him being an Omega would increase.

"It isn't that simple, Danny."

"And why the hell not?! You're an Alpha, Maxx! You could've smelt the scent of another Alpha on me." He tightened his grip on Maxx's arm when he tried to detach himself from Danny's hold.

"I didn't realise before but how the fuck do you know he's an Alpha if you've never met him before?" Maxx looked down at him and forcibly pulled his arm from Danny's grip before grabbing hold of his arms and pulling him to stand in front of him.

Danny looked up at him, his face tear stained and his eyes red rimmed.

"It's pretty obvious isn't it? But then again, you know that I consider anyone who's at least 5 feet taller then me an Alpha. Hell, I even think that your cousin McKenzie is an Alpha." He tried to move closer to Maxx but the grip on his arms tightened.

"Danny." Maxx straightened his posture and gazed down into his eyes. "Danny, do not lie to me."

"But I'm not! Maxxie, I love you with all my heart! Why is it so hard for you to believe that I've never been unfaithful to you?! Why is it so fucking hard to believe that someone faked those photos?! Do you want to break up with me?! Is this what this is all about?! Have you grown tired of waiting on me already?! Hav-"

"Shut up!"

Danny's mouth snapped shut with a muted 'click.'

"Danny, I swear." Maxx released him and walked towards his bed, sitting down heavily with an aggravated sigh. "Fuck!"

He flinched at Maxx's outburst but came to stand directly in front of him.

He knew that no matter how angry Maxx got, that he would never lay a hand on him, even if this was the first time Maxx had ever raised his voice, although not directly at him.

"Danny, I... Fuck, I just can't right now... I just..."

Danny moved Maxx's hand away from his face then sat down on his lap, wrapping both arms around Maxx's neck.

"Let's calm down before we say or do something that we'll regret. I don't want to lose you over this, Maxx." He rested his cheek against the side of Maxx's face. "You are the love of my life and I don't want to lose you over something that might be easy to expl-

"-ny. Danny? Danny!" Maxx's voice brought out of his trip down memory lane and be blinked, staring at him in confusion.

"Whaa?"

"You spaced out for a while there. Did you even hear what I was saying?" Despite the obvious that he hadn't been listening to him, Maxx just looked worried.

"Sorry, I guess I was just deep in thought." He sighed deeply and bent forward, placing his elbows on his knees before steepling his fingers together.

"Yeah... I know the feeling, I can't even count on my hand how much times I've been lost in thought over the years." Maxx raked a hand through his hair in , exhaling deeply in aggravation.

They both remained silent after that.

"Danny, I'm sorry."

Said guy looked up at his words, his eyes widening momentarily.

"Fuck, this situation is a mess." Another aggravated exhale before Maxx got up off the computer chair and approached him, sitting down next to him on the bed.

"I feel like what happened those years ago... I feel like it needed to happen."

He really wasn't as surprised at Maxx's words as he should be. All he did at hearing those words was just release a sigh.

"As much as I loathe to admit it, I agree." Maxx looked at him in surprise at his words, it was obvious that he expected Danny to blow up at him. "I'm not stupid, Maxx. As much as we loved each other back then, our bond would begin straining because you'd have went off to College. Dalton and Colby simply set things in motion. I love you, Maxx. I always have and I always will but we were both kidding ourselves by thinking that our relationship could last after not being around each other for months." He turned to look at Maxx, resting a hand on his leg." Our bond wouldn't have survived the distance and we both knew it. Maybe if we had had time to develop it then it would've lasted, but unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be at that time."

He startled when Maxx grabbed his hand, covering it with his much larger ones. "Yeah... I know, but that still didn't give Dalton and Colby the right to mess with our relationship like that. It would've been better if we broke it off on our own terms and it took me a year after our split for me to realise that it was inevitable. I do love you and I want a relationship with you, Danny, but I think it might be better if we were professionally matched. I'm in Uni now so I'll have to leave again. If we were professionally matched then you could live in my dorm with me."

Danny smiled at that thought. "That's true, but we both know the chances of us being matched aren't that good. We've both changed and matured from the persons we were before. I'll always love you but it's time for us to face the facts. It's about time that we let go of this anger and guilt over how our relationship ended. Sure, I'm still angry at Dalton and Colby, seeing them at school just added to the anger but speaking to you right now, I just feel... Numb. I don't feel as relieved as I expected, there's no invisible weight being lifted off of my shoulders. It's like the only part of me still in the past is my Heart." He rested his forehead against Maxx's shoulder, breathing in his scent which is now unfamiliar to him. "As much as we both wish that we could start over, we'll just be fooling ourselves. Believe me when I say that I want you, Maxx. I'll always want you but look at us, I hardly know you now, hell, even your scent is unfamiliar to me." He raises his head and looked up at Maxx. "It's time that we really let go of the past and move on or we'll just keeping hurting and holding ourselves back from finding the one."

Maxx gazed into his eyes, his own glistening with tears. "Yeah, I know... That doesn't make it easier though."

"I know."

"But before we finally put the past behind out, I would just like to..." he hesitated for a beat, looking into Danny's beautiful eyes before leaning down, closing his eyes are their lips connected in a long awaited kiss.

Danny's eyes slid shut and he wrapped his arms around Maxx's neck; he sighed in contentment as their kiss grew heated.

Maxx wrapped his arms around Danny as their lips moved against one another's with passion.

Yeah... They needed this if they were to finally move on and put the past behind them.

Relationships were never easy and a good amount of the time, they were always messy.

Sometimes, a person just needed closure before they could open their hearts to others.

Both Danny and Maxx desperately needed closure else they could end up further hurting themselves and whoever they enter a relationship with.

Danny needed to stop comparing other Alphas to Maxx, to stop expecting a relationship like the one he had with Maxx; he needed to let go of the past if he was to ever happily move on with another Alpha.

Maxx on the other hand needed to finally let himself breathe. With every new person who entered his life, he never wanted to commit in fear of falling for them then having to separate because of circumstances. He needed to realise that what happened between him and Danny was just odds being stacked against them and nothing more. He needed to understand that if he entered a relationship, that it wouldn't be doomed for failure because of his past experience with Danny.

They both needed closure so that they could open their hearts to one another.

Sharing that kiss would aid in that. It may seem insignificant to others, but the moment their lips touched, it was as if a chain reaction exploded throughout their bodies because nothing happened.

Nothing happening showed them that it was time to stop the comparison. It was time for them to stop hesitating and move on with someone else without expecting the same feelings that they experienced when they were together.

For years, they thought that no one could ever make them feel the same way as they felt when they were with each other but this kiss revealed that that was not the case.

The truth was that they've already fallen out of love a long time ago, they just hadn't realised it until that very moment.
