Chapter Ten -Broke Heart, Bleeding Out-
3rd person
Rain splattered against the barred windows, Y/n found it was soothing. She walked down the halls with the other people, shuffling quietly while her mind swam with thoughts. Jex went on about the fact that she wanted a horse, or a cow, or something. Y/n didn't really know, or care. "And then Jerome winked!" Oh, it wasn't a cow. Mitch suddenly grabbed her hand, jerking her aside. The girl yelped, striking out blindly in the heat of the moment, hitting the unsuspecting boy in the throat. Hearing a choked noise, she stopped. Mitch did in fact let go, almost falling over. "Wh-why!?" He gasped. "It's your own fault!" Y/n protested, "You're the one who scared me!" Mitch coughed, "Y-yeah, should've been more c-careful." "What do you want?" Y/n snapped, but instantly regretted her harsh tone, "I-I'm sorry....I'm just on edge right now." Mitch brushed it off, "We all are, the Games are in two days." She hesitated, shuddering, "Y-yeah....a-anyways, what is it?" Her tone was softer, sweeter, Mitch loved it. "I have to tell you something." He said, beginning to feel flustered. Fear swept threw the girl, no, she thought, don't say it. "I...Y/n, I like y-" "Mitch don't." She cut off, taking a step back,"Just....don't. This isn't right. Like you said, the games are in two days...lets say we do survive, you and I, they'll make us kill each other. It's...just better if we ignore these feelings we have and...and just...enjoy the friendship we have...." Hearing the desperation in her voice, he didn't push her, lying, "Y-yeah, that's....that's a good idea..." He started to walk passed her, "You're right, it won't matter." And he was gone. Y/n leaned against the wall, finding that she was holding back tears. Someone was watching her, watching the conversation. Ty. Who else? The sly boy heard everything, and he was aching to use it against them.
That night, after a hard day of training, and avoiding Y/n, he was walking back to his shared room. He turned a corner, and found he was lost. He was alone, in...well, he didn't know. He did know, however, that he wasn't anywhere near his room. Suddenly, a voice shattered the silence. "Lost?" he spun around, seeing that damned boy who seemed to be everywhere. His red eyes gleamed with...something Mitch didn't understand. Rage? No, he was too calm. Vengeance? But what would he avenge? He didn't know, but it was bad. "Well, since we're alone..." Ty said, taking a few steps closer, "I might as well say this now..." "Say what!?" Mitch snapped, wanting to claw his eyes out. "Oh you know..." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, grinning suddenly, "I guess Y/n doesn't like you." Mitch stiffened, hissing threw gritted teeth, "What....did you say?" Ty chuckled, "I heard the entire conversation. And...wow, I didn't know such a beautiful girl could destroy a heart like that!" He laughed, "The sadness in your eyes! Priceless! And oh my god, you actually thought she'd love you back! So..." He faked a frown, "sad." Mitch glared at him, but said nothing. So Ty continued, "And...you know what? You can never have her. She'll never love you." Mitch snapped, not hesitating to sock him in the face. Ty stumbled back, slightly shocked, he raised a hand to his nose, his hand came back bloody. The two broke into an all out brawl. Punches and kicks, even one throwing the other to the ground. Both were covered in bruises, and Mitch was winning. Finally, Ty stumbled back, seeing this. He had a black eye, and a busted lip, his nose was definitely broken. Mitch thought he won, and prepared to make a rude remark, when suddenly, Ty pulled out a pocket knife. With a flick of his wrist, the blade popped out. Mitch stepped back, his eyed widening. But it didn't help, for Ty jumped forward....and stabbed him three times.
