pick your battles. pick... pick fewer battles than that. put some back. that's too many

AFTER THEIR LATE night talk, the two former enemies got to know each other more, and they couldn't imagine what it would be like if they weren't in this together. Hope feels like if she didn't run into Clarke, she would still be having panic attacks, too busy crying to think straight. She hated the feeling of being alone, but knowing there is people around. So, being by Clarke's side, he kept her grounded. And vice versa.

They had been traveling hours on end, once again, and they felt like they were getting nowhere, but not being able to stay in one place for too long seeing as monsters always ended up finding them. It sucked, really. The moment they relax, something pops out at them, making them have to keep moving. They just wanted to relax for more than a few minutes.

Suddenly, the ground tumbled around them and then it started to rain, which shocked both of them.

Looking up, rain fell on them, and they blinked multiple times to make sure the water wouldn't get in their eyes. Their hair became soaked, and then their clothes.

"What the hell?!" Clarke spat out and looked over at Hope who was smiling up at the dark sky. They couldn't see where the rain was coming from seeing it was complete darkness other than the huge moon lighting their way. Clarke was more than discombobulated, seeing as there was no clouds in Malivore, and there was no way rain would be able to form in the place. Hell, he still can't get over the fact that there was a lake in this place.

But, Clarke couldn't help but get over that small fact when he saw Hopes smile. His heart leaped at the sight of her big smile as she looked up at the dark sky, closing her eyes as she let the water drops slide down her. He also couldn't help but notice as the water made her shirt cling to her curves, revealing more than usual.

His face heated up as he then remembered the lake mishap. Hope was attacked by that big snake, and when he pulled her out, he fell on her half naked body. Clearing his throat loudly, he forced himself to think about anything other than the beautiful Hope Mikaelson half naked.

"Do you have any idea on how this is happening?" Her voice reached his ears and he had to look at her, to already find her gazing up at him with her big blue eyes.

He made sure to keep his dark eyes on her blue ones as he said, "I don't know. This is odd. Nothing like this ever happened before." He softly smiled as the eighteen year old twirled around, catching water in her mouth. "I think it has something to do with you being in here. The longer you're here, the more Malivore changes."

Hope nodded and before she could say anything, there was a loud thunder, and a strike of lightening followed shortly after. They both jumped and Hope ended up gripping Clarke's arm, her eyes wide in fear.

"We need to find shelter!" He exclaimed and he wrapped his arm around her, his hand landing in the small of her back where her shirt wasn't covering. Warmth spread throughout them both, and they both shivered in delight. "Come on!" He exclaimed after clearing his throat.

His hand fell from her back as they made a run for it, heading for a mountain which looked to have a cave in it. Their hands ended up finding. each other's, and intertwined as they picked up their speed. Though, Hope has sputtered for a second as the warmth spread out through her again, but much stronger this time.

Hope let out a small shriek as thunder was heard again, but so much louder and longer this time, shaking the whole place. Lightening struck again, one after another like it was a LED party, and even though it was scary, it was helping them find the cave they were going to hold up in.

When they ran into the cave, Clarke was sure to push her inside first, to get her into safety. But, what they didn't know was that something was waiting in the darkness for them.

A loud roar was heard and before either could process it, Hope was flung across the cave, hitting the other side, and slumped to the ground. Clarke's eyes widened and he quickly dodged the claw that swung at him, and ran for Hope, making sure she was okay.

"I'm fine!" Hope pushed Clarke's hand away from her, and jumped up, throwing her hand out to the monster, muttering a spell that flung it across the cave, making it hit the other side. She pushed her hair out of the way and positioned Clarke behind her. He didn't have any fighting skills, she knows that much, so she needed to do all she can to protect him from any harm. "Stay back!" She warned him.

"It already hurt you, Hope!" He protested and tugged at her arm, but she simply shrugged him off as the monster stood up to its full height. They both gulped as it roared, showing is large set of pointy teeth.

It was a bear, a really large brown bear that had sharp like teeth, and huge claws. It eyes glowed a blood red before it charged at them.

"Ignalusa!" Hope shouted and held her hands up, and blew harshly, and a big line of fire was shot at the bear like monster. What she didn't expect was for it to launch itself over the fire, and straight at her.

Clarke froze in horror and fear as Hope let out a scream he has never heard her let out before. And then he heard the sound of ripping clothes and skin.

"Clarke!" Hope cried out as the bear's claws dug down her back, leaving long and deep cuts. She let out a loud whimper as the bear then slapped her, sending her reeling, hitting the wall of the cave harshly. She slump to the ground, her eyes closing.

"No!" Clarke shouted as he saw her body slumped, and his voices visibly cracked. He narrowed his dark eyes and turned to face the bear, anger coursing his body. He was visibly shaking and clenching his jaw so tight that he was sure he was going to break it.

His dark eyes landed on a nearby point branch, and he made a run for it, jumping over rocks, and dodging the bear as it barreled after him. He launched himself off a rock, and fell to the ground, rolling, and snatched the branch up with his long fingers. He then turned around just as the bear roared and swiped at him. It's claws hit him in the cheek and he cried out, but ignored the pain and ran around the bear, and back onto the large rock.

"You're going to pay for hurting her!" He screamed and when the bear turned to him, he jumped off the rock, and slammed the branch into it's chest. It let out a loud roar of pain and the whimpered, falling to the ground with a loud thud.

"Clarke?" Hope's voice was heard through the now silent cave and he quickly turned to her with wide eyes.

He scrambled off the bear and ran over to her, sliding onto his knees, and helped her sit up. He grabbed her face and looked her over, sighing out in relief when she smiled at him.

Suddenly, her brows furrowed and she grabbed his face. "What happened?" He recoiled when she ran her fingers over his cheek which was now revealing the real him; the mud man. Instead of blood seeping out of the claw marks, mud was shown. "Are you okay?" She winced as she sat up more, worry filling her every muscle.

Clarke rose an eyebrow. "You're worrying about me when you're the one that got attacked and thrown at the wall twice." Once the image of the bear scratching her back entered his mind again, he quickly took a look at her back and sighed as he saw it slowly heal. "Thank god."

Hope lowly chuckled. "Did you forget that I'm part wolf?" She winced again as the wound finally healed. Ashe then reached out and gripped his face in her dainty fingers. "I can heal you."

When Clarke saw her close her eyes and about to mutter a healing spell, he quickly grabbed her hands and pulled them away from his face. "You're weak and hurt. I'm not going to let you waste whatever energy you have to heal me."

Hope rolled her eyes. "I'm fine." She reached out and grabbed his face in her hands, letting the warmth spread throughout her, helping her feel more alive. She smirked as she felt him shiver at the touch.

"Oh, shut up," he murmured to her which had her giggling. He smiled softly at her and then sighed. "Don't complain if you start to feel tired."

Hope nodded and scooted closer to him so they weren't in an uncomfortable position. But, the movement made her shirt slide forward, and since the back of it was shredded, it almost revealed more than she wanted before Clarke quickly closed his eyes.

"Oh, my god!" Hope squeaked and wrapped her arms around herself. Clarke, still with his eyes closed, took off his jacket, and handed it to her. "Thank you," she murmured, her face red as a tomato. She quickly placed his jacket on her, button it up, and then reached up and yanked her shirt off, and threw it to the other side of the cave. "Okay, I'm decent now."

Clarke slowly opened his eyes and gazed at her with sparkling eyes. "You look good in my jacket," he complicated and she smiled sheepishly, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"Thank you," she told him with a small smile and they just sat there, staring in each other's eyes before Hope cleared her throat and looked anywhere but at him. "Um... where we were?" She scooted closer to him again, and slowly and gently grabbed his face. She closed her eyes and muttered a spell under her breath.

Where her hands were on his cheeks lit up, and more than warmth spread throughout the both of them. Hope tried to ignore it as best as she could, but Clarke had his eyes wide open, staring softly at her, studying her features.

When she finished her spell, Hope stared to sway slightly and Clarke was quick to catch her before she could fall back.

"I warned you," he told her gently and sat her up slowly.

"You sure did," she told him softly before laying down, her head on his lap, and then closed her eyes.

Clarke was frozen in his place and didn't know what to do as he watched her breathing slow, and her lips part slightly. Getting over the shock, he began to run his fingers through her hair, and blushed deeply as she mumbled his name under her breath.

And shortly after, Clarke fell asleep with Hope asleep on his lap.
