𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐘 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇
the truth is out. i'm a magical girl

IT HAD BEEN what seemed like a few more hours, and something had shifted inside Malivore because Clarke and Hope were no longer surrounded by just darkness. No, now they were surrounded by a thick forest with a bright shining moon casting down on them. But, it was still really dark, so that didn't change much.

The rhythmic crunching of the ground beneath her shoes just made her nerves worse. She had no idea where she was going but moving was better than waiting for something to come crawling out of the shadows.

"I thought Malivore was supposed to be nothingness," she said, sparing a quick glance to Clarke as he trudged beside her.

He rolled his dark eyes. "Like I told you already, it's changing. It was suppose to make all the monsters suffer, but you changed something."

Hope paused and turned around to face him. "What Landon told me..." she started. "Is it true that you're the reason Triad Industries was created? You're the one who betrayed Malivore?"

"I see Landon's already passing on family stories," he replied, rolling his dark eyes.

"Is that a yes?" she asked, eyes darting up to his.

"Yes," he answered, sighing.

"Why?" she asked.

He narrowed his eyes down at her. "I'm sure you wouldn't begin to understand my reasons," he said.

"Oh, you'd be surprised," she said, snarkily, "I've got a complicated family history, too."

Clarke took a good look at her, staring into her bright blue eyes that sparkles under the moonlight. He saw the darkness and pain hidden within those beautiful eyes, and tilted his head. "Oh, due tell, teachers pet," he snarked, crossing his arms.

Hope opened her mouth about to retort something when a loud, deep, roar then came from somewhere in the forest. She and jumped in surprise by the sudden loud noise. She looked up into Clarke's eyes, only to find that he looked as started as her. The ground began to shake and she could hear the sound of rocks hitting the ground.

"What is happening?" She questioned him and the ground shook violently, making her crash into him. She gripped his arms tightly as he steadied her, but they both quickly let each other go when their touch emitted heat again.

His eyes widened and Hope frowned. She had never seen him so scared, not even when she had thrown him into the pit. "Dragon," he breathed out.

Hope froze, her eyes wide and her jaw gone slack. "Not again!" She complained before sighing.

Then, in plain view now, the dragon, huge, green, and scaly stood in front of them. It threw it's head back and roared before looking down at them, blowing fire at them.

On basic instinct, Hope jumped in front of Clarke, and flung her arms out. "Bulla!" She shouted and her eyes widened as the fire got dangerously close to her before it was blocked by a barrier spell. She smirked as the fire died down and she slowly lowered her hand, and glanced back at a surprised Clarke who was holding onto her jacket tightly.

She frowned and looked down at his hand, feeling the warmth spread throughout her, and due to that small distraction, the dragon was able to swipe it's claw at them, and flung them into a nearby tree.

Hope yelled out as her back came in contact with the tree, and a snapping noise was heard as she landed on her wrist. "Son of a—" She cried and cracked her wrist to her chest, and glanced over at Clarke who had his neck snapped from hitting the tree.

The dragon roared again and Hope looked up with wide terrified eyes before her blue eyes narrowed in on a nearby tree which had many long and pointy branches on it.

She smirked and flung out her good wrist — the other one was already healing — and muttered a spell. The tree cracked loudly and then fell over on the dragon. It fell to the ground and then turned into a person. But, Hope still knew what she had to do.

She stood up quickly and approached the person — it was a boy about nineteen. He had blonde hair, and grey eyes as he looked up at her with a scowl. He opened his mouth and before he could blow fire at her, she muttered a spell, and a sharp branch flung into her hand.

"Sorry," she mumbled before stabbing him in the neck, and he let out a whimper before collapsing; dead. She exhaled loudly before blowing her hair out of her face.

Upon hearing a groan and a snapping noise, she turned around in time to see Clarke popping his neck back in place. His eyes then went wide and he stood up quickly and swiveled around to face her. Once he saw her flustered state, a fallen tree, and a dead boy with a branch through his neck, he knew what did.

His dark eyes glanced up from the dead body and up onto her blue eyes which were filled with remorse and regret. He took in a breath, knowing that she has also killed before and hated it, much like he did.

"Hope..." He trialed off and took a step towards her.

Hope cleared her throat and put a mask on, hiding the way she felt about the whole situation. "Let's keep moving. There might be more behind him." She turned around and walked away, not even bothering to look behind her to see if he was following her or not.

Clarke took in a breath and with one last glance at the dead boy, he quickly ran after Hope.
