Chapter 2
I do not own destiny.
He had to tell her, whether he wanted to or not, he was obligated to. He glanced into the room and sighed. "Kira." He called out and she looked over at him from her place in her ship. She was kind of annoyed and that was fine. She would get over it. He had drug her out of bed to bring her on some super-secret mission he wouldn't tell her about and she was fed up with the flight already. Often complaining that the service staff were trash and they didn't even have any decent on flight movies or food. He was slightly amused, because as always everything had to be a joke. "Where are we going?" "Kira... We are going to Earth. I have a contact that I am meeting up with." He said and she grumbled more under her breath.
"I have something to tell you before we get there." He said and she groaned loudly. "Look lady. Keep it up and I won't tell you." He grumbled back and she blew a raspberry at him. "Real mature..." He sighed as he focused on flying. "Ok, ok... I will be mature now." She sighed and he withheld the urge to roll his eyes. She stood and made her way over to him and sat in the floor beside him. "This contact has information on your siblings." He said and she just watched him silently. "Are... are you serious?" she asked softly and he nodded. Her lips trembled and he felt bad now. He knew this was a lot for her to process. "Are you ok?" he asked and she nodded, her lower lip still trembling.
They landed in a remote part of the cosmodrome and the moment they stepped off the ship, a dark-haired woman was sitting on a rock. A blonde woman sat beside her and he felt the confusion emanating from Kira. "Uldren." The dark-haired woman greeted smoothly. He knew she couldn't care less for him, but that's fine with him. "Artemis." He greeted kindly, too kindly for her he supposed because she gave him an irritated look. Kill them with kindness he supposed. Kira was first to offer a hand to the woman and a smile. Artemis looked from him to her, only to offer Kira a smile and return the gesture. Artemis looked at him from the corner of her eyes with a gaze that reminded him if he started anything what she would do.
"I remember, you never miss." He said and an amused smirk crossed her lips. "Amanda Holliday," the blonde offered, her country accent heavy in her tone. She didn't seem too... what could he call it... Ah... Adverse to his presence. Kira seemed to like them both immediately, while he couldn't stand the first and the second seemed too friendly for his taste. "So, you are the contact?" he asked and the blonde nodded. "So, I hear you've been looking for information on Marie Reyes." She said and he nodded. He would let Kira take over this because he knew they would trust her more than they would him.
"She's my twin sister. I thought I was alone so when we heard rumors of them being alive... I wanted to know for sure." Kira said and Holliday nodded with a smile. "Awful kind of ya, Prince Uldren. Don't worry, I didn't believe a thing they said about ya." She said with an amused look and he could only glance over at Artemis, who was watching him with a finger resting on the string of her faithful bow. One he knew extremely well. It was a vex bow made by his own friend. While Amanda and Kira spoke, he turned to Artemis. "What did you name the bow he gave you?" He asked his tone genuine. "Oh..." She seemed caught off guard by the tone of his voice.
"Not used to you being so kind, Dark Prince." She said, the tone was not taunting, like it usually was. "I'm not. Not always." He sighed and She offered a genuine smile to him. "Of course, not... I'm glad you made a friend. She seems to do well for you." She said and he repressed a smirk. She had no idea how the two of them usually went at it with the insults. She had no idea how much of a fit Kira was in his book of companions. She continued to watch him for a moment before handing to bow to him. "He worked hard on it for me." She said and he nodded as he looked it over.
"Her name is Khryselakatos." Artemis said and he repressed a chuckle. "Ah but of course. He is a stickler for mythology." He said and handed the bow back. "Shower of arrows, huh?" He pondered this for a moment then shook his head. "I will take the name to heart, because I would rather not see for myself." He said and She smirked once more. He looked up and saw Kira smiling at him. "I'm not being friendly." He said and she laughed. "Of course not. Not you, ever." She said and he rolled his eyes. "So. What did you all find out about her?" He asked and Amanda turned to him.
"She's alive. But I figured you knew that." She said and a slight panic flew through him. "How do you come to that?" he asked and Amanda pointed to Kira. "Well, for one... Kira here showed me her leg that you made her. And second... A mechanic knows her artistry, and the leg that is on Kira is of a similar build as Ashura." Amanda said and Kira was staring at him now, she didn't say a word, but her eyes were boring into his soul. "Eris Morn dropped her off in the bay, so I was kinda confused when it came to the leg. Now though... it makes a little more sense. Eris does hang out with a couple of strange Exo. Said something about one named Arma Sordes being missing. At least that's what I think she said." Amanda sighed and Uldren breathed a sigh of relief inwardly.
"I made a leg, but it was an older prototype. She asked for it and I assumed it was for one of her Lightless." He said and Amanda nodded. He glanced at Kira from the corner of his eye and was relieved when she seemed to take it at face value. If she found out he had known for months that her sister was alive and he hadn't told her he figured she would be pretty upset. "Makes sense. Ashura said she had only seen Eris and another woman, so I figured that you made it, but Eris took it." Amanda said and offered an excited look to Kira. "Oh, I almost forgot! Do you have a brother? There's a fella runnin around here callin himself Loki. I figured yall might be related because he and Ashura are always hanging out and someone said they were related."
Kira's entire being lit up and she looked over at him happily. "Both of them? Both are alive?" She couldn't contain her joy and it almost showed that it hurt him that she was so excited. He didn't want her to leave, but he couldn't keep her if she wanted to go to them. "Would you wanna go see them?" Amanda asked and Kira shook her head, which caught him off guard. "Nah, not right now. I will later, but right now if they are doing ok, then so am I. They'd just worry about me anyways." She laughed lightly and he felt the relief wash over him once more.
"Thank you for this. I am so happy to know they are alive and well." She sighed and he watched her carefully. Amanda and Artemis exchanged looks. "Kira... Loki is fine..." Amanda began, but Uldren finished for her. "The leg is going to kill Ashura." He said and Kira went silent. All the joy that had coated her features was gone and it was replaced with deep contemplation. He watched her for a moment, only for her to return his glance. "Then we help her. I can't make it obvious, because knowing who she used to be... she didn't want help. That was why she made me leave her after the leg. She is the type who will do it herself if she has to." She sighed, a small, annoyed look on her face. Uldren nodded, he could do this. He could help Ashura for Kira's sake.
He looked from Amanda, to Artemis, who both watched him curiously. He tossed them both a look that said to keep this between them. Artemis offered a smirk while Amanda was simply confused. "Ah... Yes... Of course. Not a word." Artemis said and Amanda jerked to look at her oddly. "Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead." Artemis said and Uldren offered a wicked smirk. "The Queen prefers her brother stay out of the affairs of the guardians." Artemis said and Amanda frowned. "Especially after the events of the hellmouth." Artemis added in and Uldren glared at her, fingers brushing over his trusty blade as a warning. Amanda saw this and immediately understood.
"It was you. The Hellmouth..."
Before he could even make a move to defend himself, a wave of energy caught all their attention. He looked over at Kira, who had a fire in those green eyes that he had never seen before. Artemis had her bow drawn and aimed for Kira the moment the wave of energy pulsed over them. Uldren was in front of Kira with his blade drawn, he knew he didn't need to protect her, and she knew she didn't need to protect him but she was going to defend him. "Lower your weapon." He bit out to Artemis who motioned for Kira. "Call off your bodyguard first."
"Kira." "They don't get to treat you this way! They don't know you like I do!" She snapped and He looked back at her and offered a small reassuring glance. "There's no need. They have their minds made up and that is ok." He said calmly and she backed down, her energy settling. Artemis still released the notched arrow though. He turned to attempt to deflect the arrow, but it burst into six more and each of them passed over Kira. Kira turned, wide eyed, to see where the arrows had gone. A hive knight was pinned to a nearby wall by each of his limbs.
"As I said. I NEVER miss." She said with a look and he ignored her completely. "Kira, we are leaving." He said and turned to make his way to his ship, only to turn and see Kira staring the two of them down. "Kira." He bit out and she turned to face him, she still seemed to be focused on the two of them though. "Kira, it's ok." He said and she started to follow but turned at the last moment and told them that they shouldn't be too quick to judge someone for doing what they thought was right. He sighed and shook his head as he waited for her to board the ship as well. Artemis never broke eye contact with him and it was a clear message both understood.
'The city wouldn't forget this any time soon.'
:-:-:-:
They had been getting location intel from his crows, the mechanical ones not the awoken ones. "So where will she be today?" Kira asked and he turned to the bird perched on his forearm. "She should be headed to the Array station in the cosmodrome. There seems to be some unfamiliar energy there. The vanguard is sending her to check it out." He said as he leaned against the wall, allowing the crow to find a perch nearby. He watched as she seemed to be thinking something over. She glanced up at him after being silent for a few minutes and he already knew what she wanted to do; she was so incredibly readable.
"Do you want to go look after her?" he asked and she nodded rapidly. "Then let's go." He said and shoved himself off the wall. She took off after him as he made his way to the loading bay. They hopped in and made their way to The Array in the cosmodrome. He could not help but enjoy the sheer joy Kira held at the thought of being able to see her twin. He knew she didn't want to leave; he was just grateful there was something he could do to bring her joy. He knew she had not felt her best after she had truly learned her sister was alive. He knew how she felt, it was dread. He knew that she was worried about her sibling, but she wanted to keep her distance to see if her sister could work through this on her own.
Didn't mean she didn't want to keep an eye on her though because she did. When they landed her ghost made sure their ship was concealed so no one would see it. Didn't want to raise alarm with the city any more than their meeting a few months ago had. Both his sister and Zavala had gotten into an argument over this. Especially after what happened at the hellmouth and at twilight gap. They were not grateful for the assistance they had received at either place. His and Petra's involvement at the hellmouth had gotten a dirty comment of, 'You've got one hell of a blast radius, P.V.' from Cayde-6. It hadn't been taunting... just more so depressing and solemn. He and Petra hadn't meant for the guardians to die there, but they hadn't listened when told to evacuate.
His lip curled up slightly as he thought about the involvement at Twilight Gap. Nina had gotten herself involved and both he and Kira had to go remove her from the situation. He didn't like that woman, not one bit. Kira seemed to be tolerant of her though. Nina had killed yet another guardian in her involvement of the Battle for Twilight Gap and thus they had to remove her from the situation. Not that the death of the guardian was intentional, or so most thought, but he saw it as that and had conducted the retrieval of her. She had fired the stray bullet that destroyed the man's ghost, so in his eyes even if the fallen had finished him off... it was her bullet that killed the ghost, so it was because of her the man died. He didn't care what her intentions were, after the death of Sjur, he felt like she had ulterior motives. Even though he couldn't figure out what they were he knew she had some sort of motive.
Not long after that she had been sent after Taniks and yet again another guardian was killed, this time it was a vanguard leader. They seemed to drop like flies around her. He didn't care much for the guardians, but even he saw that it was no longer a coincidence that she could walk past them and they would just drop dead. Not literally, but anyone she got close enough to, to hear them breathe? Yeah, they all died if they were a guardian.
He glanced over to Kira who seemed to be looking for something. She mumbled something then pointed up to the top of the Array station where the roof had the perfect cover. "We can wait up there for her. We don't want her to see us yet." She said with a small smile and he nodded. They made their way over to the station and looked up to the area she had pointed out. He offered to help her up but she quirked a brow at him. "You just wanna put your hands on my nice thick thighs, no thanks." She said as she jumped up to the area they were going to hunker down. He rolled his eyes and reached to climb up. "The only reason I would reach to touch your thighs, bean pole, would be to move your bony ass out of my way." He chuckled as he climbed up to the top with her.
"Asshole." She grumbled and he chuckled lightly. He kicked back and decided to relax, since she was the one who wanted to come out here he figured he could just chill. It was about an hour before anything started to happen, but he still wasn't too interested. Fallen started coming from everywhere it felt like, but once he had made his presence known it seemed they avoided that one area. Kira withheld her amusement at this. "Can't tell if they are avoiding you, or me." She laughed lightly and he chuckled. "You have made a name for yourself, but so have I." He said with the shake of his head as he adjusted himself to sit once more. She watched him for a moment before pulling her sniper and looking out around them.
"You don't seem too interested." She said after a while and he shrugged lightly. "I'm here for you. I have no ties to this person, and I have no doubt that they'll hate me as well." He said and she rolled her eyes. "She will have no reason to hate you unless you make her." Kira offered and Uldren ran down the list of things he had done that could classify as causing Ashura to immediately hate him. "Oh... And she hates it when guys openly flirt with her... Well she used to at least." He scoffed at this. "Kira. You understand that would be the only reason she wouldn't hate me right, cause I don't flirt with anyone." He said and Kira shrugged.
"Well that's obviously. I mean... Have you ever even been laid?" Kira snickered and he remained silent. After so long of his silence she looked over at him incredulously. "W-wait... You've never gotten laid?!" she exclaimed in a hushed yell, but he still gave her a dirty look. "No I have not and I have no interest in it either. As I told you before, I am not looking for a significant other." He grumbled and she stared at him in complete awe. "Oh... Oh Uldren... My sweet summer child..." She sighed as she set down the rifle to crawl over to him and hug him gently. He couldn't help but hate her in this moment.
She patted him on the head and continued to whisper, 'Poor sweet summer child' into his ear. "Get on with it already." He grumbled and she sent a wicked smirk his way. "You don't have to be in a relationship to have sex, you know." She offered with a half shrug and he sat up fully and pinched the bridge of his nose. He could already feel the oncoming migraine. "You seriously think I'm dumb, don't you?" he grumbled and she shrugged at him with a 'You might be' look on her face. "Some friend you are." He groaned and she laughed. "Look, I don't think you have any idea how it works with Awoken. I'm a twin for a reason." He bit out and she quirked a brow.
"Your parents didn't hear of condoms?" She asked and he resisted the urge to throw her off the roof of the building. "You know I really hate you sometimes." He grumbled and she snickered behind the scope of her rifle as she set it up once more. "I'm not talking about my sex life with you." He bit out and she looked at him in amusement. "You mean your lack of one?" she asked and he took a deep breath, right before he planted his large boot square in her ass which made her fall out of their hideout. She yelped on the way down and he adjusted himself to get more comfortable against the wall.
She made her way back up and he didn't even open an eye to look at her. She deserved that and she knew it. "Ok. So yeah I deserved that..." She grunted as she set herself back up. He felt like there was more to that sentence and he readied the foot a second time. She poked her lips out and made a face that said she was clearly going to go right back on that topic. "It's not like you are getting any either, so shut up about it." He grumbled, foot in position once more. "I mean... you don't really know that." She said as she looked around once more. "I mean for all you know I could be taking that hunky Jolyon for a spin." She said offhandedly and he took a deep breath. Now he knew that wasn't true because he had accidently caught him and Petra at one point. Before he could say anything to dismiss it though, she mentioned a scar that he had seen once and he wished for it to be burned out of his memory all together.
The foot planted itself right back in her rear and sent her right back out over the ledge. "Enough! I don't want to think about Jolyon that way ever again." He ground out upon hearing her laughter from down below. He tried to burn the image of Jolyon's ass out of his mind once more and he shook his head. "If you say one more thing about him or my sex life I will not hesitate to do it again." He grumbled and she shrugged lightly. "Ok, I promise no more." She said and he sighed in relief. He shook his head and looked away from her. He was not amused by her amusement over his sex life.
"But like," She began and he raised both boots this time. "Seriously though... you aren't lying about the fact most of you come out as twins?" she asked and he shook his head. "The probability of having twins is insanely high with us awoken. And for someone like you who is a twin, you will almost definitely have twins if you were to sleep with an awoken, like say... Jolyon." He said and her face flushed dark red. "Yeah, that's what I thought." He chuckled and she punched him in the shoulder lightly. "Thanks for the info on that one. I'll make sure I don't hop on that one." She said and he shook his head. He was glad she hadn't slept with him. He would have hated to had to put a foot in Jolyon's rear end for that. She was like his sister and he didn't want to picture her with someone he saw as a brother. The thought itself disturbed him.
He was wrought from his thoughts when a gunshot rang out and he jumped to see what she had shot at. He watched as the white haired woman below looked around her, seeming to search where the shot had come from. He then watched as she crouched down beside the dreg that Kira had dropped without hesitation. They saw a helmeted warlock land behind her and it seemed they were discussing something about the fallen dreg. "She seems upset." Kira muttered softly, it seemed she didn't understand why her sister hadn't shot the dreg first. She turned to look at him and he couldn't offer a response. He didn't know for sure why her sister hadn't shot it either.
"She is upset." A woman's voice came softly from behind him and he sighed and turned to look at the woman. "Nora." He greeted and she sat beside him soundlessly. "She was trying to coax it into letting her through without having to harm him." The warlock said and he looked from her to the woman down below. It was decided, this woman was just as odd as Kira was. "Why didn't she shoot?" Kira asked softly and the woman turned to look at her. "Oh. I see, this makes sense now." The woman sighed in amusement. "You are her sister. Well, she doesn't know you are alive, but she sure does speak highly of you, Wolves' bane." Nora said as she sat back on her feet.
"For twins, you are opposites, Ashura wants to befriend the fallen. She seems to like them." Nora said and Kira turned to look at her sister. She seemed confused by this. "Does she speak their language?" He asked only for the two women to look at him. Kira was staring at him oddly. "No, not many would be willing to teach her. They think learning the language of the Eliksni is useless." Nora said and Uldren sighed. "Of course. Sjur would have, if she were not dead." He sighed and Nora nodded. Kira rubbed her forehead and he could tell she was confused, but honestly it amused him. "Nora is an old friend." He said and Nora released a snort. "Ah, but of course, a joke about my age." She sighed and Uldren smirked.
"Always." He chuckled and Nora shook her head. "Dear, we both share a distaste for Eris Morn and her methods of stealing away my husband to take him on insane assignments that abruptly ended his life. I am also assuming the dark rat slept with him as well." Nora sighed and Kira's brows shot up. "Oh my husband? The mythical mad idiot Toland." Nora pointed out matter of factly. Kira looked down, her face contorted in a look that screamed, 'Well ok then'. Uldren shook his head at the antics of his friend. "Is that Floyd?" He asked, pointing to the young male warlock accompanying Ashura.
"Flynn, but yes. He changed his name the moment he became a guardian. A big fan of music, he says." She sighed and he could hear the eye roll in her tone of voice alone. Kira yet again looked away with a look on her face, this time it screamed 'oof.' "Keep making faces young lady and I will make one stick." Nora bit out and Uldren chuckled when Kira put her helmet on to conceal the looks. He chuckled and shook his head, looking back to Nora. "So what are you doing out here?" He asked her and she stretched her arms gently over her head. "I feel that it is coming soon." She said and he looked at her oddly.
"My death, dear. My final death is closing in and I feel it." She sighed and he frowned at this. "I am ready, dear. Trust me. Living multiple centuries takes it's toll on a woman." She sighed and he nodded. "Not that you would truly know, you're still a baby compared to me." She laughed softly and ruffled his hair. Kira made a noise from within her helmet and he nudged her roughly with his foot. "Shut it." He growled at her and Nora laughed. "Oh don't worry dear, you may be a baby compared to me, but you are a handsome child. You will grow up one day." She mused and he felt his face twitch in annoyance. "Don't blow a fuse, my prince." She sighed and crossed her arms over her chest. Kira looked over at the two of them, but said nothing.
He knew the little shit was making faces beneath her helmet once more. He felt the dumbass look through the glass plate.
"Awoken age differently than guardians do. Guardians age slowly, but that is because we are revived at the age in which we died. So say... Ashura looks to be about twenty-six to maybe thirty, but that's pushing it. It takes hundreds of years for us to even look like we have aged ten years. Awoken who were born awoken age slower than humans, but still faster than guardians." Nora explained and Kira seemed to be listening intently. "So I would say in human years... Uldren dear, you don't look a day over twenty-nine, maybe thirty." Nora said and Kira leaned forward slightly and he knew there was yet another idiotic look on her face he just couldn't see it.
"So, that being said... How old are you Uldren?" Kira asked and he sneered at her. "I am not answering that, you imbecile." he grunted and she looked to Nora for an answer. "I will tell you my age if you would like, Kira." Nora offered as she pulled off her helmet to release her dark silver hair that mimicked the greyish tone of her skin. "You're awoken..." Kira whispered and she nodded. "My son is more human than I am. I am a partial awoken." She said and Kira nodded. "You don't look any more than fourty." Kira said and Nora laughed in genuine humor.
"I am well over four hundred years old dear." Nora said and Kira tilted her head in confusion. Uldren shook his head and focused on the two down below. Ashura was looking around before she vanished into one of the buildings below. "Well, children, this has been lovely but my son is calling me and I must go. I was just curious as to who had taken a shot at my son." She said as she hopped down from the roof of the building. "So, Uldren..." Kira said as she pulled her helmet off. She shook out her white hair only for it to land in her face and she blow it up out of her eyes.
"How old are you? Are you an eighty year old virgin, because if you are I will definitely save you from this. I will find someone to hop-" that was as far as she managed to get before he stood and man handled her right off the roof.
:-:-:
Kira was following him around again and he was already fed up with her. It had been a week since they had left the array, but she still insisted on dragging the queen's corsair to his room and trying to get them to sleep with him. 'It'll make you less tense' she said. 'You'll feel better' she offered and he was getting sick of it. 'Do you even... yknow... take care of yourself?' that one had gotten a door slammed in her face. Why she was so obsessed with his sex life was beyond him. He caught himself almost grumbling his irritation under his breath and she leaned closer to listen.
"I'm only worried about you!" she said and he flipped her off. "Stop worrying, it is extremely distasteful. I do not want to think about your meddling with my sex life." He groaned and she looked at him with pursed lips. "Lack o-" "Kira. I am warning you. Not everything is about sex and comfort. You can go through life without it and I am sick of this. I understand you are worried for me, but there is no need. I do not need thoughts of physical intimacy clouding my judgement. That has been what has made me as successful a soldier as I am." He sighed and she nodded.
'Just sleep with someone already, brother. This is incessant.'
He could feel another headache coming on at this. Now his sister was getting irate with it. Lovely... 'Just because you have decided to partake in these... Activities does not mean I have to as well, sister. Now I would rather not discuss this with either of you.' He grumbled in his mind, only to hear her amused laughter echo within his own mind. He shook his head as he turned to look at Kira once more. She seemed to be contemplating something. "What?" he bit out and she shook her head. "Nothing. Nothing about you anyways." She sighed and he shook his head, if only he believed her.
'Brother, I need you and Kira to do something for me. There is a fallen Archon and Kell that have now donned the name of the wolves, how about you two go and see if they'll join me. Or show them what happens if they don't.' She commanded in his mind and he nodded. "We have an assignment Kira." Was all he said as he made his way to the ship bay. He knew she would follow blindly, she always did and that's why she meant so much to him. But dammit if she didn't get on his nerves sometimes. They boarded his ship and sat in silence as they made their way to ceres once more. The leftover weaponry had been taken over by new fallen donning the wolf name. This amused him greatly, because it was obviously not a big enough threat for his sister to send the harbingers to destroy them once more.
They made their way inside the run down hideout and he was amused by the look of it. It had been so long since they had been here before, but it still smelled of the scorching it took from the harbingers. They followed tracks from the dregs that had scurried down this path. They came across a massive opening in the tunnels where it opened up into a large room with metal walls. This was probably what it had all looked like before it had been destroyed before. "Come to plead?" A fallen chattered at him in Eliksni and Kira watched to two of them closely.
"We have come to see if you would join your brethren under the Queen's care." Uldren said and the fallen released a laugh. He looked at the Kell before him once more, and he seemed to be wary of the shorter woman beside him. Ah, he had noticed her. Kira watched him with amusement in her eyes. He watched her with narrowed eyes, knowing that if he didn't keep her on a tight leash she was going to lunge for the Kell. "Join us." he had offered to the kell once more, but the Kell only seemed more unamused with the idea.
"Take tiny one and go, we join no squishies." the kell snarled and Uldren reached to grab Kira but he was too late as the small woman rushed forwards. He sighed as she slipped through his grasp. The fallen jumped back and away from Kira, whose body had erupted in electricity. Her electric abilities burned even himself, from a distance as well. "Look here, gigantor... I don't have the time to waste with you bouncing around in here. I would prefer you join us and live rather than the alternative." Kira said and Uldren sighed once more. This wasn't going to go well at all.
"You have one more chance to reconsider." He said and the Kell only laughed and swiped at him which he easily evaded. Kira was much faster than the Kell had been though. Her electricity slammed right into his side and with a yell of pain the Kell disintegrated before him. Uldren scratched his neck softly in agitation. This was how it always went anymore. All fallen see the short one laugh then get bug zappered. He stared over at the woman as she stood and dusted herself off.
"Did you honestly have to do that?" he asked and she smirked at him. "Yes." He rolled his eyes at this and checked to make sure his weapon was loaded as he turned around and eyed the smaller Fallen that had come crawling out when their master was killed. "You just like making matters worse... don't you?" he asked and she smirked at him. "Oh, but of course. Or else they wouldn't call me Wolves bane." She mused and he rubbed his cheek with the back of his sleeve as he pulled both his hand cannon and blade before him to defend against the fallen. A dreg lunged for him from the right and it caught a bullet, the one to the left caught a swift slice of his blade.
When they had taken out all the ones who had rushed them from the ground he heard the charging of a fallen charge rifle. He sent Kira flailing forwards with a swift boot to the rump only for him to spin and send his blade flying at the vandal above them. It hit the ground with a thud and he went to retrieve his knife. He placed a foot on the dead creature's shoulder and yanked his knife roughly to remove it. A small mechanical whirring caught his attention and his eyes went wide as he caught sight of the shanks coming from above. "Move, now!" he yelled as he aimed a few well placed shots at an explosive shank near the ceiling.
Kira took off out of the tunnels first only to turn back and look at him as he climbed back out. She grabbed him by the arm and with a swift yank sent him flying forwards as she slammed her fist of havoc down on the entrance of the tunnel. A series of explosions were heard, then silence ensued. "You really like making things harder on me..." He groaned as he picked himself up from the ground. She only smirked at him as she pulled her hair into a ponytail. She opened her mouth and he immediately knew se was about to make a sex joke. "Don't even say it. I will leave you here. Do you ever wonder why I always offer to drive?" he asked with a threatening smirk. As realization seemed to dawn on her he smothered the laugh that wanted to escape him.
"You are an asshole!!" She yelled as she tossed a rock at him that he caught without removing his eyes off her. "Hurts to be one, hurts to have someone be one to you." He chuckled and she huffed at him as she followed him. "No more talking about who you wanna hook me up with then?" He asked and held his hand out to her. She hesitated which was suspicious, but she eventually gripped his hand and shook it as well. "No more on who I can hook you up with. And no more telling people you are a sixty year old virgin." She sighed and he looked at her like she was crazy.
'Sorry brother, I too think it was funny.'
He grimaced at his sister's amused voice in his mind. "Both of you are disrespectful and invasive. I hate you." He grumbled and Kira laughed, which made him look over at her. The pure mirth that covered her entire form calmed him down a bit. If he didn't know her the way he did, he would probably choose her. But he knew her, and that was why he wouldn't choose her for someone to spend the rest of his days with. And there was nothing wrong with that, because yes, he loved her. He didn't want to love her in that way though. She was a wild spirit, always doing anything and everything she wanted. She would and could have anyone she wanted because she was an amazing, kind hearted woman. She would be perfect for anyone, except him. Kira and his sister shared so many similarities that it felt truly odd for him to ever think of her in any manner other than friends.
'And that is ok, dear brother. We both love her, and she loves us. You will find love one day; you don't have to look for it. And that love will give you every bit the hell that Kira and I do, except you will live for it. You will chase it with every fiber of your being and strive to do everything you can for that love. That kind of love... you will know the moment it happens.'
He couldn't help the small smile that taunted his lips when he heard this. The two of them loved him dearly and he felt the same for them. 'Thank you, sister.' He responded and he felt her genuine amusement in his mind. 'Don't thank me yet, you will be trying to fight me over this at one point. Also... I never said it was a woman, I can't tell your preferences, dear brother. Sometimes I think Jolyon is your soulmate.' He sighed as he turned to look at Kira who was tapping her foot impatiently. "We gonna go or what? I'm getting old here." She groaned and he gave her a dirty look. "You definitely are like my sister." He grumbled as he sat and started his ship for takeoff.
"Oh Sister now huh?" She asked out of nowhere and he leaned to look back at her. She seemed genuinely curious. "You think of me as your sister?" she asked and he nodded. "I see no difference between the two of you. You don't get on my last damn nerve." He chuckled and she just stared at him. He couldn't read her expression so he was slightly worried that he had upset her somehow. He sighed and looked back out in front of them so he could continue to fly the ship. He suddenly felt her small arms encircle his shoulders from behind and she nuzzled her head into his neck.
Now, not that he didn't appreciate the physical gesture because he did. He was just slightly uncomfortable. She knew he really didn't like being touched, she was the exception of course, but this felt odd. He cleared his throat and she released a laugh that kind of calmed him. "Yeah. I think of you like a sibling too. Just... not blood related though." She said as she let him go. He shot her an odd look and she grinned at him. He was happy he hadn't upset him, but he felt like she had something planned.
"So what kind of brother do you think of me as?" he asked, his tone suspicious and the grin on her lips became wicked as she traced her fingers over his shoulder in a manner he didn't appreciate. "Oh, step bro... why are you so tense?" She asked and he shook his head and moved his hand to the airlock lever. "If you ever... and I mean ever say anything like that to me again I will not hesitate to pull the airlock." He ground out and her uproarious laughter echoed through the ship. He looked back and saw that he was actually holding her stomach she was laughing so hard.
"And times like these I am so glad we aren't related." He muttered, only for her to laugh once more. "I love that you love me enough to call me your sister. But I will never stop my dirty jokes. That is just who I am." She said and he nodded. "Oh I am distastefully aware of this." He said and she sat on the floor next to him. She sat silently for most of the trip home, but right as they were pulling into the bay, that mouth of hers opened once more.
"Airlock, Kira, Airlock." He was pleased whenever whatever joke never escaped her. She thought she had been safe because they were literally feet from being home, but she knew better.
:-:-:
Kira had now been with them for three years, and this past year he had been taking her to look after her sister. It didn't feel like it should have flown by this fast, but reality is like that sometimes. He watched as Kira jogged up to him and offered him the supplies she had gathered. "Is this all we need from here?" she asked and he nodded. "Yeah, go ahead and put them in the ship, I will be right there." He said and she nodded only to run off. He knew it was going to come eventually, so he might as well begin work on the original project she had asked of him. The cybernetic limb Kira had requested.
She came running back to him and he offered her a small look of approval. "I think it is time." He said and she gave him an odd look. It took a moment for it to register in her mind, but he could see the gears turning behind her green eyes. When it clicked she looked up at him in awe. "Really? We are going to start working on the leg?" she asked and he nodded. "How are we going to get the measurements right?" she asked and he just stared at her.
"Wait... we are gonna use me?" she asked and he nodded lightly. He wasn't much for words today, he had a lot on his mind and didn't feel like talking much. He felt like if he did it would all come out as word vomit and she would never let him live it down. He was feeling so much today and it all had to do with this insufferable woman and her twin. That twin who he didn't know and was helping for the sake of Kira. If it weren't for Kira he wouldn't care for whatever happened to her. "So what else do we need?" she asked, ripping him from his mind once more.
He pulled the list from his pocket and showed it to her. She looked over it and her brows furrowed, he could tell she was so confused and he could only chuckle. "You have no idea where to find this stuff do you?" he asked and she shook her head. "Then come on, I will show you." He said as he made his way back to his ship. "So, Uldren... Is that what we gathered all this spinmetal and exo scrap for?" she asked and he nodded as he sat down. "Spinmetal alloy has shown to have a less reactive effect than the metal I used for the initial leg I made for you." He said and she made her way over to him and sat down once more.
"You mean the leg she has now?" she asked and he nodded. "What is it doing to her?" she asked and his eyes slipped shut, he really didn't want to tell her the absolute truth. He knew if he didn't she would find out either way. "It will kill her. Right now it is continuously pumping oil through her veins. The materials I made that one from were porous and even though it is still metal it wasn't meant for complete use on humans." He explained and she listened intently. "There was nothing I could do to stop the flow of the oil with that leg no matter how hard I tried. The artificial nerves on it just weren't working properly either. They were supposed to sense the movement of her real limb and relay it to the limb but it would always have a predictable delay."
"With your limb I used different technology to create them and you see they work almost flawlessly." He said and she nodded. "That leg... it was my original design. It was never meant to be used for anything except replacing an exo limb. An exo could augment it to fix all the issues but a human cannot." He sighed and looked to her, but she didn't say anything. "This new limb, similar to yours, will have a different method of creating the energy used to run it. Instead of functioning like a traditional exo limb, it would run off the flow of energy the lightbearer held." He explained and she seemed to perk up at this.
"So mean it will be less harsh on her not only in the way of chemical reaction against her skin, but also the connectivity. And it will eliminate any need for oil?" she asked and he nodded. She was brilliant when she weren't making vulgar jokes. "Yes. It will eliminate any need for the engine running it to have oil to continue to move. The one she has now she has to continuously supply the oil to keep it moving. This new leg will be self lubricating using more human friendly internal lubricants and my hopes are that it will feel no different than any other limb." He said and she smiled up at him.
"Thank you." She said and he nodded. He was just happy she seemed to understand what he was talking about. "So where are we going?" she asked and he looked at her with an amused look. "We are going to a new place. I'm meeting a friend there who has some of the rarest supplies out there." He said as he entered the coordinates. The ride there was silent and uneventful, but he was grateful for that. When they landed he motioned for her to follow him and she did. They made their way up to a doorway in a wall and she looked at him in a panic when a fallen with spikes all over its armor brandished a weapon at them. She reached for her weapon and he stopped her with a small smile.
"Put that away, this is one of his." He said and she begrudgingly put the weapon away. "I'm here to make a deal." He told the fallen dreg and it motioned for them to follow it. He followed, but noticed she was hanging back. "Come on, it will be fine." He sighed and she made a face at him beneath her helmet. "And take that off, wouldn't want them to be threatened." He chuckled as she took off her helmet. When they made it down into the main room, Kira gave him a dirty look. Ah, yes. She hated the fallen with everything she had, and didn't want to even attempt business with one.
"Prince of the Reef, what an honor." The large awoken before them spouted and Uldren withheld a smirk. The sarcasm dripped from the voice of the fallen before them. "You know, I need something of yours." Uldren said and the fallen grunted in distaste. "As you usually do." He spat and Uldren crossed his arms over his chest. "We could make a deal or I could just take it." Uldren bit out and the fallen mumbled something under his breath. Kira seemed to be getting antsy behind him and he turned to look at her. She was itching to either run or fight and the fallen guards had noticed this as well.
"And... Wolves' bane." The large fallen seethed at them. "As I said. I came to make a deal with you or take it however necessary." Uldren said, his tone threatening. Kira watched him silently only for the large fallen to wave off his guards. "What kind of deal are you proposing?" he asked and Uldren held up a hand to Kira, motioning for her to stand down. "She really don't like fallen." Uldren said tauntingly, knowing this would anger the fallen before him. "We need these supplies and I know you have all of them right now." Uldren said and the large fallen snatched the paper from him.
He waited as the fallen looked over the paper in irritation. "What do you have to offer as deal?" he asked and Uldren motioned to Kira. "She wont kill you." He said and the fallen began cursing at him in Eliksni. Uldren narrowed his eyes at the fallen before him. "Don't you dare disrespect me you useless sack of waste." He bit out in eliksni and the large fallen in front of him stopped complaining altogether. He leaned forwards with an intrigued look to him. "I see... a man of many talents... You may have something of use to me yet..." the fallen mumbled.
"Spider. I will not be playing any of your games. I need these supplies immediately, and you can either hand them over willingly or by force." Uldren sneered and Kira watched him silently. She seemed to learn new things about him every single day. She said nothing though she didn't need to. He had this handled. "I will give them to you..." Spider said and Uldren nodded. "May I request something of you?" Spider asked and Uldren looked back up to him. He wasn't sure he could trust the fallen, but his tone was genuine.
"What would you ask of someone like myself?" he asked and the spider laced the fingers on all his hands together as he sat back. "I would like to send out fallen to see what all we can acquire, and see who all we can trade with." He said and Uldren thought this over. "And you want my permission to do so?" he asked and the spider nodded. "As long as we have an agreement. I want to see anything that might interest me if it comes in." Uldren said and Spider's mandibles rattled with his excited chatter.
"But of course. Feel free to send that boy... Jolyon here as well. I can bring a plethora of toys for him to play with." Spider said and Uldren nodded. "Seems like we have come to an agreement. As long as you follow your end I will follow mine." Uldren said and spider nodded. Spider motioned for his associates to go gather all the items Uldren requested and he was relieved that it had worked and he hadn't had to kill the large fallen. He did in fact like the large fallen before him, not that he would let him know it. Spider always seemed to have the best of treasures and the best ways of gathering intel. Especially when it came to guardians, judging from the ever amassing pile of dead ghosts, Spider had been mighty busy since he saw him last.
Kira watched as the fallen began carrying the boxes of items out towards his ship and he nudged her lightly. She watched him carefully and he knew she had a multitude of questions for him when they got back to the ship. He turned back to Spider and furrowed his brows when he saw one of his associates grabbing for a weak ghost that was trying to hover away. "Give me the living ghost you have there." He demanded and the associate looked from him to Spider, only for spider to nod and motion for the associate to give it to him.
The associate snatched the ghost right out of the air and handed it over to Uldren. "What use could you have with a ghost, Prince Uldren?" Spider asked and he looked over to Kira, who opened her palm, a ghost forming in her grasp. "I have one, and I prefer for them to stay alive." She bit out and the tone of her voice alone did Uldren proud. Such a commanding aura she was presenting, it made him truly proud. Don't let the enemy know who you really are. He had told her that once before and she had taken it to heart. Hide the kindness and let them think you do not care, because they will fear the ones who they don't think they can reason with. It was something he lived by.
"Pleasure doing business, spider." Uldren called out, not turning to look back at the fallen as he walked away. He looked down to the little ghost that hovered weakly over his palm. "Do you have a guardian, little one?" he asked and the little ghost just watched him for a moment. A flash of bright light temporarily blinded him as the small ghost scanned him over. The light from his scanner continuously flickered, signifying his weakness more. "Don't do that, save your energy and recuperate." Uldren urged as he stepped aboard his ship.
"I... Do not have a guardian... Yet." It said and he nodded. Kira made her way over and held her ghost out to the one in Uldren's palm. "Let me help, friend." Her ghost said to the weak one before a flash of light caused them to blink. When the light died down, the weakened ghost now looked newer. His dented and disfigured surface was now pristine and shone a brilliant silver, like the glint of metal.
"Thank you..." the ghost said as he hovered around better now. It continued to hover around Uldren though, never once leaving his side the trip home. "So, little ghost, do you have a name?" Kira asked as she followed the silvery ghost around the Vestian outpost. "I do not..." he said and she smiled at him. "Would you like one?" she asked and he seemed to perk up at this. Uldren chuckled softly at the interaction between them. There she was, showing off the kindness once more. He liked this side of her. The side that was so kind to everyone around her. The side no one saw most of the time. She covered her kindness with vulgar and dark humor and her intimidating presence, and he was proud of that. However, he was also proud of the fact she knew when to drop the act as well.
Even Petra had joined in on talking to the small robotic creature. He sighed and shook his head as he offloaded everything they had brought home. He carried the two crates to his workshop and began going through them. He was impressed by all the technology the Spider had managed to snatch from guardians. He could care less about how they recovered the tech, he just needed it. That was why spider was such a good ally to have. He could get everything that would be nearly impossible to get any other way. Such as the auto rifle he held in his grasp currently. Hard light, the most dangerous weapon he had seen a guardian wield against the fallen.
He popped open the casing and began pulling out the wiring and the conductors. He needed these because they channeled the light that the guardian put in to change the elemental output of the ammunition. This is how he would ensure that no matter what element Kira's sister used she wouldn't fry herself when she used her abilities. He set them in a smaller box and continued dismantling the weapons from the first box. He opened the second and was mildly concerned with the state in which the leg was in the box. Wires and metal plates were out of sorts and when he pulled the mechanical limb from the crate a part of it fell off.
At least it was better than the time he had been searching for a male exo leg to repair one of Eris' Exo and Spider had given him a leg that strangely enough looked like it had been ripped right off the body of Saint-14. It had been covered in moss and what looked to be like vex radiolaria. It had been war torn and battle scarred. Needless to say he told spider to put that one right back where he found it. He then told Spider that if he were grave robbing famous guardians he was going to have no part of it because he was not about to be haunted, or have anyone around him be haunted because of a limb. Now this one looked like it had been ripped right off a female Exo, but it didn't appear that the Exo had seen very much action.
Looked like it had been yanked right off the Exo assembly line. Other than the minor damage to the upper area of the thigh, it didn't seem like this one had ever taken a step in its life. He ran his fingers over the limb and quirked a brow as the toes twitched at his touch. The sensors were immaculate. The workmanship on the leg was initially gorgeous, mechanically speaking. It was smooth and looked to mimic an actual limb appearance wise. This one radiated possibility, such as superior movement and reaction time. He was going to keep the outer casing of the limb because it was immaculate.
However, the inner workings had to be gutted and reconfigured. He set the limb on his desk and began searching for the seam on the inner side of the leg that would pop a hatch to open it fully. His finger slipped over the small sensor and he smirked as he pressed it gently. The leg began opening up along the inner thigh, little plates shifting out of the way on both sides leading all the way down the side of the foot. He opened the outer casing and pulled the inner workings out of the armored shell of the leg and set them to the side. The inner musculature looked similar to a human's.
That was what intrigued him so much about the mechanical workings of an Exo... the sole fact that despite them being a completely robotic entity, their bodies were little to no different than a human. Sure, they consisted of hardened metal, oil, and wiring... But they could eat and digest like any human or awoken could. They just didn't rely on it to survive. They could taste, touch, feel emotion... by all means, they too were actual living creatures. They were a beautiful creation that he loved to learn about and understand. He pressed his fingertips into the bundle of wires that made up a part of the musculature and he watched as they pulsated and jumped beneath his fingertips.
As he said... A beautiful creation.
He began moving the exposed limb around and taking in all the details of how they connected and worked. He opened a drawer in his desk and brought out a pencil and a pad of paper. Sure, he could do his work computerized, but there was something all involving that came from actually drawing it out on paper. It was like it was easier to understand when he did it like this. He began scribbling notes all over the paper and drew an intricate representation of the leg. He would dissect it on paper before he did it physically. That way he wouldn't ruin the workings of the leg itself. This one was perfect and he would prefer not to find out where the spider got his supply of Exo limbs, especially not the ones like this.
He knew there was a high probability of it coming from the Clovis Bray facility on Europa, but he was not about to go there himself and risk getting lasered by that crazy old geezers security protocols. Clovis Bray was a brilliant mind of utter ingenuity but he was also a crazy old bat who didn't want anyone touching his things. He briefly wondered how many fallen had sacrificed themselves just so Spider could loot that particular facility. He continued his writings all the while turning the limb this way and that, taking in every single connection of the muscles and after a few hours he nodded to himself.
He grabbed his tools and very delicately began removing the outer mechanical muscles first, admiring the absolute beauty of them before he set them to the side. He delicately slipped two fingers in between the smaller musculature and what looked like arteries, to trace along the metal structure of the bone itself and reveal it carefully. It was gorgeous. The shining silver held no markings that would have been there, had the limb been used. He had never seen such a purely unused Exo specimen. He ran his fingers along the large vein that mimicked what looked to be the femoral artery. He knew a great deal of medical knowledge, but only when it came to what was what within an arm or leg. He couldn't actually do anything if they were bleeding out or stopped breathing completely.
He had the most extensive knowledge of what it was and how it worked, nothing more. He had no interest in learning anything more because this is what he enjoyed, taking things apart and putting them back together usually better than before. 'Brother, you've been working hard. Take a small break and join us for food.' His sister said softly in his mind. She knew that when he was working like this there was no way to get his attention physically or verbally. He was the type to be absolutely engulfed in his work. Usually he was listening to music as well, but he couldn't find his ear buds today. He knew Kira had probably hidden them once more for this reason.
He looked down to his project and sighed, he wanted to do so much more. He pulled a dust cover from his shelf and delicately placed it over the exposed limb. He stood and stretched, the resonating popping of his spine was satisfying to him. He looked down at his hands and decided a shower was in order before he got food. He made his way to his room and went in. He gathered his things for a shower and left his room. He made his way to the community shower down the hall first and opened the door after he knocked and heard no response.
The moment he reached for the handle to the shower room for the men, only to hear noise and turn around to see both Kira and Petra exiting the women's showers, kira with her towel wrapped around her loosely, but Petra... Petra in all her annoying glory was using her towel to scratch her back it seemed, her entire body exposed to the world. The woman didn't give a damn who saw her either. He slapped a hand over his eyes and breathed deeply. "What the actual hell Petra?!" she snapped and she laughed loudly as she made her way over to him. "I knocked to make sure there was no one in the main room to keep this from happening." He bit out and she laughed as she patted him on the back. "Sorry Uldren, guess we should have locked the door." Kira managed softly.
"So considerate, what a true gentleman." She mocked before she ruffled his hair. "Aww he's blushing. Kira, I win. You're gonna be like me Pinky." Petra said and he breathed a slight sigh as she walked away from him. He listened to both sets of footprints leave before he rubbed his eyes with two fingers and pinched the bridge of his nose right after. "I hate them. I hate them both." He growled out as he heard them arguing over the bet outside the door to the washroom.
"Annoying aggravating women."
:-:-:
He watched as they approached the tower. He didn't want to be anywhere near this place, but Kira had insisted. He watched as the little silvery ghost hovered about the ship in excitement it seemed. He and Kira were discussing something that really didn't interest him so he just focused on flying. He did enjoy the view however. The Last City in all rights was a beautiful construction as well. Massive and from the angle of view he had, it was alluring. The Dreaming City was still more architecturally beautiful than this city though, he dreamed of the day he would return home and brush his fingertips over the marbled walls once more.
He missed the beauty of the blue amethyst floors and the Oracle. Not to mention the star maps. The dreaming city would always hold a place in his soul. He pulled up as close as he could to the docking bay without actually pulling into it. Kira opened the door and he turned to bid farewell to the small ghost he had saved. "Thank you again, prince Uldren." The ghost said and he offered a small smile to the tiny creature. "Of course. Feel free to return to us at any time." He offered and the ghost seemed thoroughly excited by this and had repeatedly thanked him.
"Don't tell anyone he's so nice. Or do, they'll never believe you." Kira mused and he rolled his eyes. The small ghost slowly hovered outside of the ship and turned one last time to bid farewell. He offered a two fingered wave, but Kira was whole heartedly waving him off. "Goodbye Pulled Pork!!!" she yelled as the ghost flew away. He chuckled as she closed the door behind her. He quirked a brow at her and she only burst out laughing. "He's a cute little Porkchop. A precious bean." She said and he shook his head. "I will miss him, honestly." Uldren sighed and Kira patted him on the head.
"I know you will." She said as she pulled a seat over to sit beside him. "So, Mara was telling me about the tower and that it is the home for all guardians..." she began and he looked over to her cautiously. He knew it was coming. She wanted to leave... "I was wondering, where do the Awoken come from?" she asked and he blinked a few times. This was not at all what he thought she was going to ask about. He thought she was going to ask to be dropped off at the city.
"What do you want to know?" he asked and she lit up. "What kind of place did you live before the vestian outpost?" She asked and he smiled fondly. "We call it The Dreaming City." He said and she listened intently. He told her about the buildings themselves and she seemed to be in awe. He told her about the statues of the cats and how they were treated like the divine beings that watched over you, and that if you gave them a special blend that smelled like peppermint they would return the favor and give you gifts as well. Her favorite thing to hear about was how when you entered the city the first thing you saw was the ocean and the building that overlooked both the sea and the beach.
He told her all about it, every single detail he could remember. Except he didn't tell her about the monster in the basement. Which was basically what Riven was... the monster in the basement, you knew she was there but you ignored her presence and didn't go down there. He had saved her during the time of the great ahamkara hunt. At that time she was the smallest of creatures, undisturbed by the greed of the wishes of the guardians. Nina had been there alongside him as he had saved her, now he wished he hadn't. Well that wasn't entirely true, she was a massive help in creating his home.
There had been awoken that had sought her out to have their wishes granted, so full of greed and deceit. She was now the embodiment of those wishes. A giant greedy deceitful coward who hid beneath the city she helped create. The day he had saved her, he witnessed the slaughter of the Ahamkara she was birthed from. He watched as a large titan walked over and stood over its corpse, Nina had felt he had been gloating, but the posture alone of the titan... He was grieving the loss of the creature, not celebrating its death. He didn't understand why the man would grieve for a creature he had killed, that was until he had realized there was an infant riven beneath it's form.
Perhaps the large titan had noticed it was protecting its young while none of the others did. That was one of the reasons he held such distaste for most guardians. They broke everything they touched, destroyed everything beautiful they came across. He glanced over to Kira, who was waiting patiently for him to continue talking about the city. "Why can't you go home?" she asked and he sighed deeply at this. He missed his home. "Well, as of right now I could go home at any time. Any of us can go there, but we are out here dealing with things in this realm." He explained and she nodded.
"I would love to go home, but right now my queen needs me. She built our home, you know..." he sighed and she stared at him in awe. "Yeah, Mara created an entire realm and our home within it. We have people there right now, but they are just there to look after it while we deal with the fallen and other issues." He explained and she nodded. "I will take you there someday, when my dearest sister has finally given me permission to go home that is." He sighed and Kira beamed up at him. "I would love that!" she exclaimed and he shook his head, he knew she would like that.
:-:-:-:
Uldren watched as Kira sparred with the Corsair. He was propped up against the wall, Jolyon by his side. "Yall would make cute kids." "Shut up Jolyon. Why don't you go for it then, you look just enough like me to get her to flirt with you. Sadly, you'll never look like me." Uldren clapped back and Jolyon rolled his eyes. "Always the knockoff." "Uldren, do you ever stop to think it might be you who is the knockoff? Perhaps the reason you've never had a girlfriend and I have is because I'm the one who looks better." Jolyon offered, a sincere tone to his voice that made Uldren lean to look at him like he was crazy. He could only hold in his laughter for a moment before it escaped him.
"Man. That was a good one. I mean... have you seen my sister. Got a whole Queenship thing going here. People tend to avoid the brother of the queen." Uldren said with a shrug and Jolyon chuckled softly. "Yes... Yes, indeed I have noticed this. However, did you ever stop to think that it might be because you're an asshole that ladies don't want you?" Jolyon asked and Uldren pondered that for a moment. "Yup. Completely plausible. However, I must say I rather enjoy being an asshole. Just means you gotta really like me to endure me." He said and Jolyon quirked a brow at him. "I feel celibacy has made you lose your ever-loving mind."
"That is entirely possible. I mean I totally thought he was bringing me here to put me in a sex dungeon. One legged women cant escape." Kira called out and Uldren threw his shoe at her. "Shut up. You aren't in this." He chuckled and she only grinned at him as she ducked under one of the corsair's hits. "You know you love me." She called out as she trotted over to him, her spar with the corsair over. "I have no comment." He said as she tucked herself up against him by the wall. He ruffled her hair and shook his head. "So, what do we get to do today?" she asked and he shrugged lightly. "Not sure. It seems things have settled down with the fallen once more." He sighed and she sighed. "Uldren... I... I have really enjoyed these last few years... Learning from you... being your friend..." "But you want to go see your siblings..." He offered and she looked down to her hands softly.
He closed his eyes and sighed. "Yeah..." She whispered and he nodded. "I can understand that..." he sighed once more. He really didn't want to let his friend go. "Only if you promise me something." He said and she looked up at him oddly. "You promise you'll come back at some point?" he asked and she smiled up at him. "Well Duh!!! I have to introduce you to my sister, the badass." She said matter of factly and he chuckled. "Yeah, someone who literally has no title is more of a badass than you." She gave him a dirty look but then smiled. He wished he had never told her about her sister having been revived, but he couldn't honestly say that either. The fact she had still stayed with him these last two years, knowing full well her siblings were alive were more than enough to prove to him that she was loyal to them. She had also given him the most complex project he had ever done and it still wasn't finished but he was enjoying every moment of it.
It was the right thing to do, all things considering. He just didn't want to be alone again. He so desperately enjoyed her company that he didn't know what he would do if he could never see her again. "Come on then." He sighed as he stood. She jumped up to follow him and they made their way to her personal armory. He entered the code on the door and waited for her to enter. Her little Exo greeted her as he always did and she responded respectfully as she always did. "I have something for you." He said and she beamed up at him. He pulled a cover from a case and she stared at the armor in awe.
"You made it for me..." She whispered and he nodded. She hugged him tightly and this caught him off guard. He gently hugged her back and ruffled her hair before he let her go. She pulled the armor out of the case and used her ghost to carry it with her. "We also have something else for you." He said and she looked at him oddly. "You'll like it I promise." He said as he motioned for her to follow him. "You knew I was going to want to leave... didn't you?" she asked and he nodded. "Of course. I wouldn't want to be away from my sister for too long. I don't feel like there is anyone competent enough to take care of her." He sighed and she nodded.
"What am I to you?" She asked and he watched her carefully. "Kira... I didn't think you wanted to be with me if that is what you are implying." He said and she shook her head. "No, no. I just wanted to make sure you didn't want me that way." She said and he furrowed his brows as they walked. "I'm not understanding, I told you before that you were family to us." He said and she smiled at him. "I think of you all as my family. I wouldn't want to ruin it by forcing a relationship." She said and he now understood what she meant. She just wanted to make sure family was all she was all she was going to be to them. "You are family. Feel free to call yourself Kira Sov." He chuckled and she shook her head. "Uh... nah. That makes me feel like we are married and no offense, I love you... But I'm still not going to sleep with you or marry you." She said and he gave her a dirty look.
"I wasn't offering anyways, insufferable brat." He bit out and she smirked at him. "Of course, you weren't. But trust me, you will find someone who will love you for everything you have to offer." She said and he looked at her oddly once more. "Sounds like you know just who would marry me." He said and she laughed. "No. I don't know that, but since you love me so much, I do believe my sister is single. Although she isn't as nice as me." She said and he shook his head. "Yeah, no. I will have to politely decline that one. I would rather not have to deal with two of you for the rest of my life." He said and she erupted in laughter.
"Wasn't even that funny but ok." He mumbled and she smiled at him genuinely. "But you have to realize, you have no choice now because I am going to bring both of them here. You have to meet them eventually." She said and he groaned outwardly but smiled inside. He was going to miss her with everything he had. "Ok, here you go. Courtesy of the Queen." He said and motioned to the large ship docked in the bay. It looked like his but had the all too familiar flowers she had been named after on the sides. Wolfsbane.
"You two got me a ship and it's a wolves bane ship. You do love me!" she sobbed mockingly as she fake cried into his sleeve. "Of course." He chuckled as she rubbed a fake tear from her eye. He shook his head as she looked back to the ship. "So... do you actually want to meet my sister? Or do you want to hang back and hide out like we have done like stalkers?" she asked and he rubbed his face with his hand. "I'm not a stalker, and I would prefer not to meet them right away. As you said you plan on bringing them here so I will cross that bridge when we come to it." He chuckled and she smiled at him. "Ok, sounds good to me." She said and he nodded.
