I woke up and rolled over onto my back with a groan from what I remember I had blacked out in the middle of the woods and from the pain in my right arm it might be broken. But that wasn't so bad it could have been worse plus i didn't feel that bad my arm hurt and id probably only been out for an hour or so. Right? I sat up and noticed three things, first my arm was not broken it just hurt, two there was a weird bracelet looking thing on my lower bicep it was like a shiny copper and aluminum twisted together and had these weird green rocks embedded in it, three it was morning or afternoon i wasn't sure the sun was low in the sky. I tried to get the bracelet thing off my arm to look at it but it wouldn't come off it seemed to be embedded in my skin which to be honest was sort of creepy and brought up a bunch of questions like how did it get there, why did i have it, and WHY WAS IT EMBEDDED IN MY ARM!? I needed to get home and get some water and then I could work out how to get this thing off my arm. So I started walking back to my truck and it turns out Couper my cousin I called earlier had shown up and pulled out my truck why he didn't come look for me when I didn't show up to help him, who knows.

I got home and almost immediately my mom ran out the front door like I hadn't even gotten out of the truck and she was already halfway down the driveway, as soon as i was out of the truck she was hugging me she was squeezing me so hard i seriously thought my ribs would crack. She was asking me something as she ushered me into the house but I couldn't understand her she was talking so fast. She sat me down on the couch and sat across from me on my dad's chair "Ok where have you been for the past three days?" she asked in an angry tone and believe me when she's mad it's not fun before she could continue my dad walked in and he didn't say anything but he had a look like he was mad and really could you blame em id been gone for three days! How i was going to explain the thing on my arm who knows but i could get it off in a minute first i needed to explain my absence for the past three days. "Ok mom, dad, first i didn't know i was gone for three days, so i was taking a walk through the woods while i was waiting on couper to come pull my truck out of the mud, and I tripped fell and I guess I hit my head on a rock or something but I blacked out when i woke up I thought i had only been out for an hour or two so i walked back to the truck and drove back here." I don't know why I didn't mention the armband on my arm. I just felt like I shouldn't tell anybody. "Well are you ok? Do we need to take you to the doctor?" my mom asked me "No im fine. Can I be excused to get a drink?" I asked "Of course Cactus." (yup thats my real name bet you didn't see that coming.) I got up and walked into the kitchen to get a drink. I pulled a mason jar off the shelf and filled it with ice out of the freezer then poured it full of tea out of the pitcher on the counter. I took my drink and walked back into the living room. "I'm gonna head to the shop, is that ok?" I asked "Yes that's fine Cactus you be safe." my mom told me "yes ma'am." I replied "I'll probably be out there all day and then head over to the cottage later so i wont be in for dinner." i told them "Ok see you tomorrow." my dad said. I lived in 'the cottage' it was a little 15' by 30' stand alone bed room, like one of those tiny homes it had a bathroom and shower I cooked almost everything on the grill so I didn't need a stove.

Anyway i headed out to the shop to see if i could cut this thing off my arm because upon further inspection it really was embedded in my arm. I got out to the shop and grabbed the hack saw off the wall and set it on the band but when I started to drag it across the band to start cutting it my arm started to hurt, and i don't mean like a dull ache like I dropped the saw fell tomy news and cried for a good 10 minutes. So cutting it was out of the question plus it wasn't even scratched from where I had tried to cut it. I suddenly felt tired and drained of all energy so decided to go ahead to the cottage and rest for a minute. The band would still be there tomorrow and I could figure out how to get it off then. I got inside and sat on my bed and started reading 'where the red fern grows'. I just got to page 44 when I started thinking of my childhood and thought "Man, I wish I could go into this book right now." and I suddenly had a sense that I was falling from a great height. I felt myself hit the ground and I sat up. I was in a cave, the cave from the book with the fire, the dogs and even the boy sitting across from me wide eyed and holding his dogs like his life depended on it.
