the happy ending for us
Throughout all the trials, Minjeong was persistent in not letting her wife come, not that Jimin wanted to come either. It's either their lawyer or Minjeong herself, while Jimin having a good time alone at home with Ningning and Aeri.
After that final verdict, Jimin kept herself under the shell, skipping one year of her studies until she got better with everything, now with the support of everyone she loves.
For that one year, Minjeong had promised her wife to be better. It is true that she is now a lot better than she used to be before marrying Jimin, but after the incident, Minjeong promised that she would do anything for Jimin. Anything the older girl wished her to, Minjeong would fulfil it wholeheartedly.
Then, there's this one wish.
"C-Continue your study, Minjeong," Jimin said between her stuttering words as she held the younger woman closer on the bed. The request startled the younger, slightly pulling away from their hug.
"B-But, Jimin. I need to take care of you. Fuck off the study! I could quit, focus on the company, and be committed to you—"
"No," Jimin's slow pleading voice stopped Minjeong from continuing her words. "A-Aeri and Ningning... can take c-care of me w-while you— while you a-are gone. Do not w-worry... about me, M-Minjeong. I want you... to c-continue your— your studies, and m-maybe, we could graduate... together later," Jimin assures her wife, planting her head closer between Minjeong's neck.
A slow defeated sigh was heard from the latter. "Fine. Anything for you, Jimin," before she pulled the older girl closer with a smile. "I would do anything for you."
That explains why Minjeong and Jimin are in the same class, right now.
Jimin was back on campus, entering her fourth and final year of her studies along with Minjeong, her wife. Jimin was supposed to graduate along with Aeri, but since she skipped a year to get a better version of herself, she is now enrolled in her final year with her wife and their Chinese friend.
Jimin's conversation development has gotten a lot better than the previous year. Sure, she would still stutter with her words, but that's minimal. She could react much better, act much faster, and talk a lot normally like her old self.
Minjeong loved her more for that.
It is Saturday morning. Minjeong woke up only to find the empty space beside her on the bed. Confused, the younger girl got up and walked straight downstairs, finding her wife casually frying some eggs in their kitchen. Looking at how Jimin was still in her pyjamas despite now being wrapped with an apron, Minjeong could only guess that her wife hadn't long awakened.
"Mor— *yawns* —ning, Jimin," Minjeong greets her wife between her yawns, snuggled closer to Jimin's back, rubbing her cheek on Jimin. The latter let out a soft chuckle, still on her mission to cook them a proper breakfast. "Well, g-good morning to you too, Minjeong."
"We only get to eat fried eggs for breakfast?" Minjeong questioned, rubbing her cheeks more onto Jimin's back.
"You asked m-me last night for French t-toast with eggs and b-bacon, baby. Don't tell me you f-forgot?"
"I did?"
"You did," Jimin nods with a low sneer.
"I really did?"
"Uh-uh," Jimin answered one more time before she turned off the stove, slowly shifting her body to the left, arm reaching the shelves below her head. "Now, if you excuse me and l-let me go, I would like to plate our b-breakfast."
"But, I want to—"
"Let me go, Kim Minjeong. Or else, I'm gonna b-break some plates here."
"Yes, ma'am."

On that weekend, Jimin had requested her wife to bring her to the Seoul Detention Center, which was a peculiar request to Minjeong. But since Minjeong would obey any of her wife's requests, she drove Jimin there without thinking much about it.
They parked their car right in front of the prison gate, and Minjeong who had been clouded by questions inside her mind since they were at their home finally spoke. "Why do you want me to bring us here? This is my father's prison, Jimin."
"I know," Jimin answered shortly. "I know that he's inside, and I know you t-told me countless times that you don't want to m-meet him at all, but for the last time, Minjeong. Meet h-him just once, for me."
Minjeong, instead, gets more confused by her wife's request. Her hands slowly reach Jimin's holding it tightly, "I don't understand, Jimin. Tell me more so I can understand."
Instead of being visibly upset, Jimin flashed a small smile to assure her wife. "I know, y-you hate him. I hate him too. But, b-besides everything, I couldn't d-deny the fact that he took care of m-me for years, and I am t-thankful for that," Jimin continued, tapping Minjeong's hand softly.
"For everything he has done to you, you want to be thankful to him?" Minjeong slightly raised her voice, not in a way that would hurt her wife. "He faked everything, Jimin. You know that too."
Seeing how Minjeong reacted, Jimin tried to soothe the younger girl's hand with her thumbs, smiling more sincerely. "I k-know, baby," Jimin slowly leaned in for a peck on her wife's lips before pulling away immediately. "But, there are t-things that we should be thankful to him, d-despite all the lies. For example, if he d-did not push me to marry you, or p-push you to marry me, then, w-what would we be now?"
With all the sweetness in the air now, finally, Minjeong could finally let out a tiny grin. "Well... a part of that is true." The girl now was smiling like a teenager, "I wouldn't be as happy as I am right now if it wasn't because of you—"
"Because of him," Jimin cuts.
"Fine-fine. Because of him," Minjeong sighed heavily once before shifting her attention back to her wife. "So, you want me to meet him to say your final words?"
Jimin's smile got wider as Minjeong slowly snaked her hands on the older girl's cheeks. "Uh-uh. Send my regards, and maybe you w-wanna say something more to him?"
"Are you sure you will be okay here? Outside, alone? Don't you want to come in with me?"
Jimin shook her head almost immediately, "I don't t-think I could hold myself to s-see his face. That would b-break me." Before Minjeong can argue more, Jimin assures her wife again. "I will be fine. Anything, I'll c-call you."
*****
Minjeong thanked the officer who opened the door for her with a small smile before she headed straight to the visiting room. taking her seat right in front of the glass walls, waiting for that certain inmate to come from the door behind the glass walls.
It took about a minute or two before the door opened, revealing Mr. Kim in his orange uniform, sitting right across Minjeong with a low scoff. The correctional officer in charge of him sitting right behind him before the older Kim spoke. "Why are you here?"
"Jimin asked me to," Minjeong's voice is cold, flat with no emotions. "She insisted me to say thanks to you for the years you've been acting like a father to her, even tho we know all of that now that it's all an act. But, still, she insisted me to tell you that—" Minjeong couldn't finish her words when her father arrogantly cut her.
"That slut really told you to do this? Such a double—"
Minjeong slammed the counter angrily, "She is my wife, father! Don't you dare to say things about her!"
The older Kim's eyes widen even tho the correctional officer behind him warns him to keep the conversation down. "You are not supposed to love her like that, Minjeong! Because of you, my plan to make our business grow failed—"
"What?" Minjeong sneered before she rolled her eyes in desperation. Fingers combing through her hair. "You still talking about the business, really? Right now? Wow..." the younger Kim laughed before she went back, facing her father's arrogant expression. "I guess you are just born evil, aren't you? After everything you have done to my beloved wife, and you still talking like this? Do you seriously have no conscience?"
Hands massaging her temple, "She was so persistent to make me come her to you, and now you said that—"
"Shouldn't you be happy that I did that to her?" the older Kim argues back, only to receive a shocking glare from his daughter. "What did you just say?"
"Come on, Minjeong." Mr Kim continues to sit there arrogantly, playing with his fingers. "You used to hate her so much. If you didn't develop deeper feelings for her, this won't happen—"
"Shut up!" Minjeong slammed the counter once again. She had enough of his nonsense, and at this point, she knew that her father wasn't even human. "I had enough of your nonsense!" Minjeong pulled the chair before she stood up, rampaging. "You are crazy, you know?"
The older Kim scoffed back, "You are the dumb one, Minjeong!"
"You are now officially not my father!" the younger Kim shouted before storming out from the visiting room despite having a minute left or two for the visit. But since being there longer going to be a waste for Minjeong, she headed straight to her car, only to find her wife waiting for her with a confused expression.
"Minjeong?" Jimin asked as her hand reached Minjeong's. Only then, did the younger Kim finally let out a heavy sigh. "I already sent your regards, but he just—" Minjeong paused her words, taking a deep angry breath. "He just never changes, Jimin."
Smiling apologetically, Jimin starts to stroke her wife's hands with her thumb. "It's okay. Thank y-you."
"Let's go home."
*****
Jimin and Minjeong finally graduated from college one year later, together. Accompanied by their closest friends, they had a brief celebration that night, with Ningning buying the couple a small cake while Aeri was in charge of the drink.
They got drunk that night.
Not all of them, tho. The one who get drunk was only Aeri and Minjeong. Jimin and Ningning are practically sober. Not really, but they are perfectly able to handle themselves.
Which means they need to handle the other two, of course.
"Aeri! Gosh, come on! Get out of the door! The cab is waiting outside!"
"No! I need to cook the fried eggs! Mom asked me to eat fried eggs before going home!"
"Minjeong, baby! Get your foot on the stairs! I need you to go to bed!"
"Foot? Which foot? My foot? The big one or the small one? Uh? Left or right?"
Ningning finally managed to put Aeri into the cab while Jimin managed to send her wife to their bedroom upstairs. Now the house belongs to the two of them again, alone.
Jimin huffed heavily before she lay down right next to her wife, catching her breath. Gosh, drunk Minjeong is really hard to control. Jimin had learnt about it from years of experience.
Jimin's attention is brought back to her wife when Minjeong suddenly blabbers while drunk. "Jimin..."
"Yeah?"
"I'm glad that you are all better now..." Minjeong said wholeheartedly. Her hands sway here and there to express her gratefulness, that it hits Jimin on the shoulder. "I'm glad that you are back to the old you. To the old Jimin," Minjeong ended her words with a sheepish smile, side-hugging the older girl quietly.
"I'm glad too, Minjeong. It all thanks to you," Jimin chuckled before she turned to face her wife, laughing slightly at those drunk smiles of her wife, hugging her closer. "It all thanks to you, Minjeong. Thank you."
Jimin stared into Minjeong's eyes for a moment. It feels like her wife's drunk gaze could already make Jimin drunk, despite not being drunk from drinking. As Jimin was about to pull away from their hug, Minjeong suddenly pinned her down on the bed, now on top of the older girl, still with that drunk smile. Eyes squinting with a hint of confusion.
"Jimin?"
"Yes, baby?"
"My eyes hurt," Minjeong confessed, only to make the older girl below her more confused than ever. "Your eyes are?"
"Yeah. It's..." Minjeong squints her eyes again, still on top of Jimin. "It stings."
Jimin suddenly got worried as she reached her hands to cup her wife's cheeks. "You got dust in your eyes? Let me see—"
"No, it's not that," Minjeong shook her head violently, making the older girl burst out laughing. "You look so beautiful, my eyes hurt." Minjeong continues to squint her eyes drunk, too amused at Jimin's beauty despite being all drunk (well, that would make it worse).
"So, I am the reason that your eyes hurt, eh?"
Minjeong nods aggressively, whining. "Yeah. You need to be responsible!"
LOL. Jimin couldn't take this anymore. "How can I be responsible?" she laughs, caressing Minjeong's cheek gently. "Stop being cheesy, Minjeong. Say what you want."
Hearing Jimin's laughs was such a bliss to Minjeong's ears. Despite being drunk, Minjeong really knows what she wants. Pinning her wife closer, now on her elbow, Minjeong's face was just an inch apart from Jimin's. "I'm going to kiss you..." Minjeong warns with a sheepish grin only to receive the same grin on her wife's face.
"No one stopping you," Jimin lifted her brows between her laughs, and as if it was like a green light to the drunk girl, Minjeong finally leaned in.
It's been a while for them to kiss like this. After the incident, Minjeong had been extra careful with her wife, knowing how fragile Jimin could be most of the time. Their kiss and kinship would be totally minimal, but now, it is different.
Minjeong's hands already snaking their way inside her wife's shirt, while Jimin clawed the back of Minjeong's back after the younger girl started to attack her neck with wet, pulsing kisses. Finally, it was the right time for them to do this.
Minjeong pulled away from Jimin's neck, catching her breath. "I miss you so much, Jimin." She leans in again, savouring Jimin's soft lips, claiming what's hers. They only pulled away when Jimin needed air.
"I miss you too, Minjeong. So much."
"Happy graduation."
It didn't take them long to lose all of their clothing.
*****
Minjeong continued to work for the company as the CEO after she graduated, rebranding the company to JMJ instead of Kim's, trying not to put any memory of her father inside the company itself.
Ningning came back as Minjeong's main secretary but insisted that Jimin would be her assistant, to which Minjeong agreed almost immediately. Why she would fight that request knowing that her wife would be by her side 24/7? Minjeong could use the chance itself to make sure that her wife was in good condition all the time during work hours.
It is Monday, and Minjeong is scheduled to meet their client at Ansan. Ningning wasn't able to follow her because of another schedule, and Jimin was the one following Minjeong to Ansan.
Usually, the secretary would drive for the CEO, but it was different for them. Minjeong was the one who driving, and Jimin at the front passenger seat, holding tight onto one of Minjeong's hands with a small smile.
As soon as they arrived at the meeting place, Minjeong stared into her wife's eyes one last time. "If there is anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, feel free to tell me. I'll help you to get out of it, okay?"
Feeling the warmth Minjeong gave her, Jimin nodded slowly. "I will."
They entered the semi-big company with two ushers leading them towards the certain floor for their meeting. Entering the meeting room, the couple was greeted by two office workers, but one seemed too familiar for them to ignore.
"Isn't that..."
"Welcome to our company, Ms. Kim. It's nice having you here," one of the men said as she offered Minjeong his hand for a shake. Minjeong glared at the other man behind him once more before finally taking the first man's hand. "Nice to meet you. I guess you are Mr. Park?"
"Yes. It's me. Come, have a seat." The first man said as he gestured his hand for Minjeong and Jimin to take their place at the round table. But as they moved, the couple couldn't help from staring back at the other man who seemed a bit stumbled by his steps.
Minjeong took her seat right beside her wife, hiding their hands below the table before she slowly reached for Jimin. Body slightly leaning to her wife, whispering. "Are you okay? Do we need to leave?"
Jimin shook her head lightly and whispered back. "I'll be fine. Just hold my hand tight." She pulled back before flashing her wife a small smile, assuring her that this wouldn't affect her much.
Minjeong could feel how Jimin's hands started to swear, signalling that the second man in the meeting room could bring back the painful memories Jimin tried to erase away. Before Minjeong could whisper more into her wife's ear, the first man spoke.
"Is there something wrong, Ms. Kim? You and your secretary look a bit uncomfortable. Do you want us to prepare some drinks?"
A bit flustered, Minjeong shook her head. "No-no. It's fine, Mr. Park. It's just that my wife here was feeling a bit unwell," Minjeong smiled at the first man before she turned her attention to the second man, glaring at him just enough to make him flinch in shock.
Minjeong's statements startled the first man. "Oh god! My mistake. That's your wife? I am so sorry, Ms. Kim. I don't know about it. If that's the case, let's proceed with the meeting and end it quickly, yeah?"
"It's okay. Let's proceed with the meeting," Minjeong replied, still holding tight onto Jimin's hand under the table.
*****
The meeting ended and Mr. Park left the meeting room first, leaving the three people inside the room alone. Just when the second man was about to leave the room, holding onto the door handle, Minjeong called him. "Park Jaeho."
The man mentioned froze in position, still holding onto the door handle before Minjeong continued. "Don't you remember us? It is impossible for you not to remember us."
"I-I... remembered," he stuttered.
"Then, don't you want to say something to us?" Minjeong asked again, holding her arms together in annoyance. Jimin was right behind her wife, holding the hem of Minjeong's coat, almost like she was hiding behind her.
Minjeong clearly remembered how this human in front of them right now was supposed to be the most annoying living thing she ever encountered in her entire life.
There's silence for a moment, making Minjeong call his name again.
"Don't you hear me? Aren't you supposed to say some—"
Minjeong words were cut off when Jaeho suddenly kneeled in front of the couple. His head hanging low, somehow makes the young CEO slightly panic. "What are you trying to—"
"I'm sorry!" Jaeho says his words out loud.
There's this pause in the air, before he continues. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being a brat back then. I'm sorry to both of you. I'm guilty to both of you, and I should've known from the first place that you guys were married back then. I'm sorry, I'm flirting with Jimin when I do know that I'm a friend of a criminal like Sungjoon. I made Jimin suffer a lot even tho I know that I can warn you guys about Sungjoon from the start. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, Minjeong. I'm so sorry to you too, Jimin. You can punch me, or kick me all you want right now. I'm—"
"I forgive you," is not the word that escaped from Minjeong's mouth.
It's from Jimin.
"Excuse me?" Sungjoon slowly lifted his head up, too dumbfounded to hear who was the one talking just now.
"I forgive you, Park Jaeho," Jimin repeats, slowly coming out from her hiding behind Minjeong's back.
"B-But," Jaeho paused. "But I—"
"I guess you don't need a beating from me now. I could see you became a better guy now," this time, Minjeong was speaking.
"But, I did so many wrongdoings to you guys. I'm guilty! And I—"
Minjeong wasted no time, punching all her anger out to Jaeho's left cheek. Only once tho. She didn't do it twice. She wasn't that evil to begin with.
"I did it since you insisted so much. Gosh, that hurts my fist so bad!" Minjeong answered with a cool smug, which quickly turned into a puppy whine, capturing the attention of her wife. Now Jimin caressed the fist gently with her thumbs and a few blows.
"I'm... I'm sorry..." Jaeho repeats again, still putting his head low.
The couple walks passed him, grabbing the handle of the door. But before they completely left, a handkerchief was given right in front of Jaeho's face. To his surprise, Jaeho slowly lifted his head and saw Minjeong again.
"Use that to wipe that tiny blood on your lips, also... *coughs*... that tears... on your eyes You realise you are kinda crying, don't you?" Minjeong said while Jaeho slowly received it with his trembling hands. "T-Thank you..." is all he could say before the couple finally left him alone.
The couple walk hand in hand towards their parked car. Both smiling happily and as soon as they entered the car, Jimin's hand was on Minjeong's cheeks. "You are so cool back there, you know?"
"You are cooler, you know? After everything, you forgive him that easy, huh?"
"You are cooler. The way you punched him— Oh gosh. I think I fell in love again," Jimin said happily as she pulled her wife into a hug. Minjeong chuckled happily, hugging back her wife closer.
"Well, looks who's wife am I?" Minjeong giggled back.
