Chapter 2:

Spring break was over and nothing changed. People kept thinking they see Herobrine, but nothing more than that has happened. They started ignoring it after a while. Besides it was probably nothing... Right?

Rosie walked into her house and threw her backpack onto the floor in her room. She grabbed her bag of Skittles from her nightstand and logged onto Skype on her laptop to bother Ty or maybe Adam. No one was online, so she just went to Twitter to bother them there. But no one had sent a tweet since yesterday.

"What the fork is going on...?" she thought aloud.

There was the sound of the front door opening and slamming shut. Rosie closed her laptop and left her room. She began to walk down the stairs, saying, "Dad? Why are you home? Weren't you supposed to be at a meeting in Japan or whatever?"

But instead of seeing her dad downstairs, she saw a man with unforgettable blue eyes wearing a suit. "No way..." Rosie mumbled, slowly backing back up the stairs.

"Don't even think about running," the man told her, taking a calm step forward. "It's not like you'll get far if you escape. I didn't come alone."

She stopped and just stood there, staring at him but showing no fear. "Okay. So why are you here? I thought creatures like you belonged in sushi or something," she said. "Besides, I thought Adam killed you. And why do you look like a human?"

The man rolled his eyes, annoyed. "None of that is your concern. Now, you're going to cooperate and come with me, or we'll have to use force." He knew saying that was useless. It was obvious she wouldn't just give up and go.

Rosie laughed. "Wow, you're still as stupid as before! I'm totally just gonna let the evil squid shit lead me to my possible defeat!"

And they just stood there for about a minute, staring into each other's eyes in silence. Rosie suddenly spun around, kicking the squid in the place where no man wants to be kicked, and then she ran upstairs and into her room. She locked her door and grabbed her cell phone, shoving it in her back pocket. The squid was just at her door by the time she opened her window and jumped out onto the tree outside.

Rosie slammed the window shut as the squid kicked down her bedroom door. She hopped down from the tree and started running down the street, knowing she was being followed. She kept running until she was pulled into an alley.

"Hey, what the fu-" A hand covered her mouth before she could say more. She watched as the squid along with some other people ran past.

The hand over her mouth was removed, and she turned around to see four strangers all around her age.

The tall girl with dark hair spoke first. "Okay, I know you're wondering who the fuck we are and why I just pulled you into an alley, but there's not much time to explain. Just follow us, and we'll give an explanation later."

Rosie raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? And why should I trust you people?"

"Alright, if you don't come, then I guess we'll just have to let you back out there where the squid can find you," the girl said, crossing her arms.

She stifled a laugh and replied, "Whatever. That's a risk I'm willing to take." She began to walk away, but the black-haired girl with a bunch of bracelets grabbed her arm and said, "Ignore Ashley. She has no idea how to gain people's trust or negotiate."

"Hey!"

"Shut up I'm talking!" She turned back to Rosie. "Anyway, just trust us. It's really important that you do. Besides, do we look like a threat?"

Rosie took a minute to think about it. That girl did have a point; they didn't look very dangerous. And if something bad did happen, she could get out of it easily. "Fine. So where are we going?"

The four smiled. "You'll see," the blond girl said as they began to lead Rosie to the other side of the alley and out into a parking lot. "Now let's hurry. It's not safe out here." They crossed the lot and walked another block until they reached their destination.

"...Game Stop?" Rosie asked as they walked through the doors of the video game store.

It was completely empty of people except for the cashier, who had his eyes glued to his laptop until he noticed the five walk in. "That was quick," he commented with a grin.

"Who's that?"

"We don't really know exactly. He's just helping us," said the girl with blue-streaked brown hair. She walked up to the cashier and leaned over the table. "We're ready."

He nodded and motioned for all of us to come around to his side while he pulled blinds over the big front windows and locked the door. He came back to his laptop with us right beside him.

"Everyone stand still in front of the computer," he told us, and we did as he said. He typed codes that seemed random across the black screen, hit enter, and stepped back.
