Chapter 1
I dart my eyes between my parents as my dad drives along the road on our way home.
Honestly, I'm abit tense, no nervous as my parents are unusually silent in the car.
Usually mum will tune in to the local radio and dad will talk away about this newbie colleague of his who pissed him off at his work, and how his boss gives them ridiculous timeline to finish their companies reports all the time. Whilst my mum will tell us countless details about what happens in our town everytime, everyday.
However today, neither of them are speaking and mum didn't even tune in to the local radio at all.
That's so not them.
Did something happen between them while I am away from school? Like a big fight or an argument?
Or worse did either of them actually commit- wait no! absolutely not. My parents actually fall in love with one another when they bump into each other during a competition in school wayyyy back when I'm not even inside mum's womb yet.
I decide to break the silence and cleared my throat.
"Um... mum, dad... uhm. Is there anything wrong?" I interrupted.
The car jerks into a sudden stop, and make all of us jolt a little.
"Nope sweetie. No worries, I just want your dad to focus on his driving so I decided to turn off the radio and give him some peace" Mum turned and assured me.
In a minute, we are back at our house. Dad cut off the engine and we got out of the car. I entered the house and was about to head upstairs to my room. When my mum called me from behind.
"Cass darling. Dad and I would like to discuss something with you." She said.
I retrace back to the living room, knowing pretty well that 'cass' is the definition of them needing to have a semi-serious talk with me.
I drop my bag beside me and settle down on the couch. Waiting for my parents to settle down to begin the talk.
My parents came around and finally each settled on a stool around our coffee table.
"Uhm... there is something we need to... uh talk to you about first." My mum stammered.
"I know what you are thinking kiddo. Nope we aren't going to ground you this time kiddo. Don't worry. Instead we feel like... it's time to have an official talk with you about this topic now. Since you are older now." Dad assured me.
"So what's the talk about?" I ask, leaning forward with curiosity. My parents have never given me a double-parenting talk before. Most of the time is just a single-parent talk.
They look at each other nervously, before dad goes into the master bedroom and emerges with a letter in his hand.
"You might want to read this first and get to know why the letter is sent to you, Cassidy." Dad warned me first as he handed the letter over.
I open it and read it briefly and begin asking my parents questions.
"What the heck is Hillfrost academy?" The first question I ask.
"Is a school for mythical creatures in their teenage years to study there and hone their abilities." Dad answered.
"Mythical creatures?" I exclaimed. Rather confused, why does a school for mythical creatures teens letter is delivered to me, to our household.
"Yap... you are one of them." mum confirmed.
"So what am I?" I clarified.
"Vampire. Uhm... A gold blood vampire." Dad nervously replied.
"You gotta be kidding me dad?" I half-yelled. Totally shocked that I, Cassidy Frankston, is an unworldly creature without even knowing about it myself.
So the incident that happened a few hours back in school isn't a joke or any hallucination.
It's precisely real because...
I just used my power without realising it.
Now I'm questioning my own identity on earth already.
