Val's POV.

We had rowed as far as we could and we had to hike the rest of the way towards the mountains. I missed Fili more than anything. Mo would probably never see him again. No, don't you dare think like that. He will survive. I'll put my own life on the line if I have to.

We had reached the mountain as we searched for the keyhole.

"We're running out of time." Thorin paced as he tried to look for the keyhole. "Break it down!" The dwarves thruster there axes but the wall wouldn't budge. He turned and faced me with so much sadness in his eyes.

"What did we miss?" The dwarves stared sadly "what did we miss Balin?"

"We did everything." Balin said sadly as they all turned to leave.

"You can't leave now! " bilbo and I tried to convince them "There's always a way!"

"It's the moonlight!" Bilbo shouted "I found it!" He began to search for the key as it was picked up by Thorin. Dat majesticness doe.

We walked through the halls as I stared in awe.

"This place....it's so majestic..."

"I know lassie I know..." Bofur patted. We stood where the dragons lair was a few feet away.

"You are here master bilbo and Miss Valencia to help retrieve the arkenstone." Thorin began

"Me?" I squeaked "how am I going to help Bilbo find the arkenstone?"

"You have the imagination. You've got keen eyes and your footsteps are much quieter than us dwarves." Balin sided with Thorin. "if you do not think-"

"No I will go and I will try. For it is what I must do." I nodded. The dwarves stood in awe as I looked around

"What? Is there a stench?"

"My majestic qualities are rubbing in on you." Thorin smiled as he gave me a hug "be careful."

"You know I always try." I weakly smiled as I walked with Bilbo.

"Your very brave." Bilbo observed as we walked.

"You are the bravest hobbit I ever knew." I remarked back.

"Shall we begin?"

We began our search as we looked for the arkenstone but instead finding many jewels.

"Big white..." I muttered as a large pile of gold slid down to reveal part of the dragon "dragon." I whispered.

I walked as quickly and alerted bilbo to be careful. He nodded

"Where are you thiefs!" The dragon grumbled "step into the light!"

"I came to gaze upon your magnificence O Magnificent smaug" bilbo improvised

"As have I."

"A daughter of man Hmn well perhaps I should eat you now."

"No! You can't!" I squeaked " you see I'm not from this world!"

"What do you mean?" The dragon perked with interest "are you from the past or the future or a whole new dimension?"

"I'm from the future."

"So tell me daughter of man, what is my fate?"

"Your fate-" I panicked. I couldn't tell him his fate. We would all be incinerated. "You will live a hundred more years."

"Excellent!" Smaug breathed "and I will be king under the mountain? With all the gold I desire?"

"Of course." I gulped

"So tell me daughter of man and barrel rider when are the dwarves coming to rescue you? I know they desire the arkenstone."

"Ha! Preposterous!" I laughed quite unconvincing

"There are no dwarves here just us!"

You are bad liars." Smaug breathed "I should burn you now. though I'm curious of about the daughter of man. What else do you claim yourself to be?"

"I am the creator of stories."

"What kind of stories?"

"All sorts actually. Adventure fantasy.."

"What about suspense that you might be eaten? "

"Uh..."

"Did you really think you could fool me! "

I signaled Bilbo as we slowly made our way back to the passage. We began to ran bilbo in front as Smaug blew fire causing my calf to burn. I let out a cry of pain as I dodged the next fire attack by inches. I couldn't move. I felt unconsciousness come over me as I felt into a deep sleep.....
