Sure. You ask. I'm easy like that.

Well then this should be a fun interview. Before we start, can I get you something to drink? Water? Soda? Coffee? Wine? Whiskey?

Water is fine. I have practice in a bit. Thanks.

Smart. Why don't you tell me a little about yourself?

Well, I'm Nathan. I'm a freshman here in SCU. I'm also on the basketball team. That's why I have practice later. What else? I belong in a fraternity. I somehow thought it would be fun to join one. It is fun but it also can be not fun when you're trying to have a decent amount of sleep under the roof of the ΚΕΓ house.

Ah yes, all those boys in one spot - whew, can get a little noisy. Where do you live?

I'm currently living in Silver City. Exploring college life and all.

Do you have any jobs or hobbies?

It's just college for now. And basketball. We'll see how that works out. As for hobbies, um.. Does parties, going out and messing around count?

Sounds more like a lifestyle choice. Let's dig a little deeper shall we? What are some of your likes and dislikes?

Can I pull the basketball card again?

Oh Nathan...give us a little more...

Alright, I was just kidding. Sort of. Let's talk about the real stuff. I like driving late at night, with the windows down. If I had to say something deeper, I would say that I like honesty. And boundaries. Actually setting my boundaries and people not crossing the line. It's to my liking when someone gets when I want to speak about something, when I don't and on that occasion, when I could just use some company, without the talking part. I would never admit the latter, so people who get that, also get extra points. As for my dislikes now. Dishonesty, lies. You know, the usual.

Those are big "usuals." What is your greatest fear?

Woah, woah, woah. For real? (Sighing heavily) Letting down the people I care about.

I'm sure you rarely let anyone down. So, if you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

My mother. Ha. That was a joke. Could have been a joke?

I guess. Do you have siblings?

Yes. Kate. I am fortunate enough to call that little monster my sister. She's 8 years old. She drives me nuts most of the time but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ah, younger siblings. I have one of my own. Are you in love?

What? No. ... How does someone even know? Being in love... What's that supposed to mean? And when you've never been in love before, how do you know you are when you are? How can you tell when it happens? If it happens. And I- ... I am definitely not in love.

Yes... I see, not in love. Got it. Do you have a secret?

Multiple. And if I told you, I would have to kill you. But for the sake of this interview and since we've established I am not in love... You know Vanessa? I like hanging out with her.

Well, I'd hate to have to die - to quote the movie. I don't know Vanessa but maybe you can convince her to pop by the cafe for an interview one day.

Let's make a deal. I will convince her but you'll have to ask her about me. And perhaps Ashton. But mostly about me.

It's a deal. Do you have any events or people in your past who affect you today?

Family affects us all. One way or another, right? And mine has affected me. Who I was and who I am now. Finding out parent number one is playing parent number two behind his back was not ideal. It sucks. It stinks. I hate how it makes me feel. But whatever.

Parents are complicated for sure and you shouldn't have to deal with their baggage. Let's try something more fun. If you could go back in time for one day, where would you go?

Time traveling, huh? Let me think. It has a lot of consequences. Time traveling 1.0 ; don't change anything. So I would choose a good day and relive it. A recent good day was the last day of spring break. 'Cause you know, Vanessa and I- oh shoot. You don't know. Well, you'll find out soon.

I guess so. It is weird that you guys know.

Is there anything you want to say to your fans?

Thank you? I'm not good with words and I don't even know why you like me. I don't know what to say. Except that I don't take this for granted? It means a lot. It means more than a lot. Thanks.

You seem great with words to me. Can we look forward to reading more of your story?

Absolutely. Freshman year was quite adventurous and brought my world upside down more or less. It's true that by the end of the year I am a completely different person. And that's only the beginning. Three more years to go. You know what they say; you can never really know what life holds.
