Eight years later, a twist of fate brings Finn back into Emily's life. Can she finally get answers to the questions that have kept her from moving on? Or does true love deserve a second chance?
Hello Ms. Montgomery. May I call you Mary?
Yes, Mary is fine.
Nice to meet you Mary. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us.
I always enjoy an opportunity to talk with the media.
Can I get you something to drink? Water? Soda? Coffee? Wine? Whiskey?
Do you have Icellars Estate wine here? It's a wonderful vineyard located in the Niagara Wine Country in Canada. Their 2015 Wiyana Wanda is a divine red, rich and bold. Just like me.
Oooh, I say we get two glasses. While we wait, tell us a little about yourself.
I'm the daughter of Philip Montgomery. You may remember him from his political run a few years ago. I was part of his campaign team. I'm still interested in politics, just trying to find the right candidate to support. I'm currently living the single life in the city. Yay me.
Where do you live?
I have a condo near Bluemont just outside of Washington, D.C.
Do you have any jobs or hobbies?
I work for an art gallery at the moment. Helping D.C.'s elite choose the right piece for their home. It's rewarding and I get to meet so many interesting people. I used to do a little drawing when I was young so you could say art is in my blood.
What are some of your likes and dislikes?
I like ... nice things. Good wine, fine food, yachting, catching a concert at the Kennedy Center. Nature too. We used to have this lovely lake house in a small town about an hour away. I loved that place. The town was too small but you can't have everything.
Dislikes? Hmm... perhaps people who think they're above their station in life.
What is your greatest fear?
Oh. Let me think. Well, I guess like most people, I'm afraid of making a mistake. Doing something that would bring shame to my family. I come from a long and distinguished line of proud, determined and powerful women. Nothing is going to stop me from achieving the same status.
If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
My mother died from ovarian cancer when I was a teenager. I'd give almost anything to have her back. Her death changed the course of all our lives.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing your mother at such an age must have been difficult.
It was. (Takes a sip of her wine.)
Let's switch gears. Are you happy we know your story?
You don't know my story. I'm sure we are here today because of what happened with my sister Emily and Finn Wainwright. I do not know what she sees in that ... soldier boy. (eyeroll) She always did love a good rescue project.
Anyhow, the point is that's her story. She has her perspective and I have mine.
How about a few fandom questions. What's your favourite colour?
That's easy. Pink. (waves her hand over her petal pink outfit.) It's just so versatile. Everything from innocent baby pink to sexy hot pink.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have two younger sisters. Emily is in the middle. She's so like our late mother. Beth is the youngest and takes after father and I. She's married to Lance and they have two beautiful children. I might have a picture of the new baby here.
Do you want children?'
(Takes a sip of her wine.) Yes. Someday.
Are you in love?
I haven't found the right man for me yet.
What is your idea of the right man?
(Looks over to the bar behind the interviewer) He's kind, generous and makes me laugh. Always there when I need him. (Sits up straight and looks at the glass of wine in front of her.) And ambitious. I need a man who will make their mark in this world. Someone more ... I mean someone aligned with my life goals.
I hope you find this man soon. And just between us, do you have a secret?
(Laughs bitterly) This is Washington D.C. so I wouldn't fit in if I didn't have a few skeleton's in my closet. The key is to keep them in the closet, under lock and key. There are things that... well let's not talk about them.
Ah, if you insist. Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
Yes! Of course. I appreciate you. I adore you. Your support means a lot. It's hard living under the shadow of my sister. She's so good and perfect. Everyone likes her. It's nice to know someone out there cares.
Can we look forward to reading more of your story?
Oh, I have a lot more to say. Maybe you or your organization can help me find a way to tell my story?
I'm fairly sure we can help you. I'll put my people in touch with your people. That's all we have time for today. Thank you for chatting with us.
Anytime!
