Peaches - Briel (Peaches) Sinclair

Book Title: Peaches

Book Genre: Mature drama

Author: comfortablysedated

Character Name: Briel (Peaches) Sinclair

Nominated by: pseudonymLove

About the story:

"Peaches holds a secret that binds her to a lifestyle she was forced into at a young age. She is made to perform, excite, and to satisfy; a wealthy asset to her powerful employer, Daddy. Forever a servant to the empire he has built, freedom is a dream long forgotten.

When in a financial crisis, she settles on a roommate who sparks a heated romantic interest in her. Knowing that pursuing this romance could cause her great danger, she succumbs to her temptations and protects her fantasies in secrecy.

But Daddy is a selfish man who doesn't care to share what he claims to be his. His eyes are everywhere, and when Christian Blake comes into the picture he is not at all willing to allow the romance to continue.

Chris, with his share of troubling demons, is blind to the struggles Peaches faces daily. Lost in alcoholic tendencies and a haunting violent past, he adds to Peaches stresses unknowingly; seeing her only as what she is perceived to be."

Hi there Briel. What should I call you? Do you prefer a nickname?

I'm known to many as 'Peaches', but since we're going to get better acquainted, you can call me Briel.

Welcome Briel and thanks for agreeing to talk to us today.

Thank you so much for having me. This is certainly a unique experience, I don't usually share a lot about myself.

We appreciate you opening up for us. Can I get you something to drink? Water? Soda? Coffee? Wine? Whiskey?

Gosh, you know, I really should just settle with some ice water. Unless you have a dry red blend— I'm a sucker for a glass of wine.

Oh, I recently interviewed Mary Montgomery and she introduced me to a delightful red wine from Icel Vinyards -  Wiyana Wanda.  I'll get us each a glass. Meanwhile, tell me a little about yourself?

That's quite a loaded question, isn't it? Well, to start it all off, I dance for a living. To clarify, I'm an entertainer— a stripper for the nightclub and lounge, "Honey's". My whole life revolves around my profession, whether I want it to or not.

If I could have it my way, I'd be laced up in my ballet pointe shoes, dancing to my favorite songs in the privacy of my local ballet studio.

I hope one day I can break free from my responsibilities as an Entertainer to pursue the life I've always dreamed of. Free to love and live as I want, happy and carefree. Genuinely smiling from ear-to-ear happy.

I hope that for you as well. Where do you live?

I live in Southern Florida in the same humble two-bedroom, one-bath house that I grew up in as a little girl.

Do you have any jobs or hobbies?

The only job I've ever had was at Honey's, but I do more work than just spinning around topless on a pole. I'm a great bartender too! So if you're ever in town, I can mix you a mean drink.

You've got a deal. What are some of your likes and dislikes?

Do people count? 'Cause, there's this guy...

Chris Blake is one of the few people in this world I adore with my entire heart. If I didn't have his annoying self around, I'd— well, I don't know what I'd do.

Of course, I have to mention my best friend, Candy. She's been there for me through the worst times— trust me, there's been a lot.

As for things I don't like, I suppose it would be to be the fact that I live in constant fear for my life.

It's a mess, really.

Yikes. What is your greatest fear?

Aside from the deep-rooted fear of myself or anyone I love dying at the hands of my tormentor, I'd say my greatest fear would be to end up like my mother. Helpless, hopeless, and a slave to her addiction— lost to the world in a pit of self-loathing.

Gosh, that is heavy. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

I would change everything. As long as it means I can live a life full of love, and freedom. I hope one day I can live somewhere peaceful and serene, surrounded by friends and the people I call my family.

I would do anything to live my life for the one man I've ever felt anything real for.

Are you happy we know your story?

Yes, it's not an easy story to share, because this life is far from glamorous. I can only hope that it can help someone along the way.

I agree, telling your truth is important to shed a light on these situations. Are you in love?

Oh, I am madly in love, in the most reckless of ways. But that's a risk I'm willing to take, even if it means my life.

Oh my! I hope it doesn't come to that.  Let's try some lighter questions. Do you like to cook?

God no! Trust me on this, you never want me to cook for you. Unless you like fried food— and not the good kind.

Do you have any special talents?

Aside from my skills in the art of dance, I'd say I'm a total car girl. I taught myself to drive a stick shift at an early age so I could ride around in my dream car— the BMW M4.

On Monday morning, are you excited to go to work, or are you sad?

I can confidently say that work never brings me any excitement, those sixteen hour shifts in my killer platforms are torture. Not to mention the overbearing stench of desperation and loneliness that radiates from Honey's.

The only thing I'm ever excited for is wine, good company, and some peace and... quiet with Chris.

If you could go back in time for one day, where would you go?

If I could go back in time, I would find my father and tell him how much I loved him. I would tell him about the woman I've become, and hope that he could be prideful in that.

To have one last dance with him before—

If I could just say goodbye.

I'm sure he would be proud.  Is there anything you want to say to your fans?

Never give up hope.

Don't give up on me, and please, never give up on yourself.

Well said. Can we look forward to reading more of your story?

I'm not sure if you'd necessarily look forward to it, but you're more than welcome to read on as much as you'd like.

We will. Briel, thanks for chatting with me today. I appreciated your candid answers.

Thank you so much for the wine and the wonderful conversation. I do, however, have to be on my way. I've got a long night at work ahead of me.

Best of luck. And if you ever need help or a place to stay, please don't hesitate to contact me.
