Good afternoon Mr. Richland. Can I call you Julian?

Julian is fine. I detest nicknames, despite my sister Vera constantly calling me "Jules."

Welcome and thanks for agreeing to talk to us today.

Thank you for having me here, @dlcroisette. I have to admit, I wasn't particularly comfortable about being interviewed, but my partner Sapphire insisted that I might have some fun taking part.

I appreciate you doing this. Can I get you something to drink? Water? Soda? Coffee? Wine? Whiskey?

Coffee would be great—no milk or sugar. If you can make it a double shot, that would be even better; I didn't get much sleep last night.

One double shot coming up. While we wait, tell me a little about yourself?

Well, what would you like to know? I can start with the basics—I'm from a coastal city called Lester Harbor and was solely raised by my mother Frances after my dad died of cancer when I was eight. My sister and I fought a great deal when we were kids and during our teen years; I guess you can say we had a decent amount of sibling rivalry. What's important is we're close now and I respect her. Family is the most important thing in my life.

I'm not much of a drinker, but drink beer when I'm out with friends, and I don't smoke. I can attribute my tan skin, dark eyes and hair to my southern European heritage; my maternal grandmother was originally from Portugal, but I don't speak much of the language. I'm more practised in Latin and Greek.

Where do you live?

My home is a downtown high-rise apartment in Lester Harbor. It's a neat place, close to everything I need, and the view is spectacular.

Do you have any jobs or hobbies?

I work as a professor at Montville State University's archaeology department, which generally keeps me busy.

As for hobbies, I like to tickle the keys of my piano during my spare time—I wouldn't consider myself an aficionado of music, but I can play songs from memory. (grins)

What are some of your likes and dislikes?

Ah, likes and dislikes. Let's start with the good stuff. I love mythology, especially classical Greco-Roman mythology, and history, naturally.

As for the women I admire, I like a woman who can look after herself. I believe a woman's smile, intelligence, and confidence are her sexiest features.

I strongly dislike tardiness and prefer to be an early bird; I consider being on time bordering late. I find it disrespectful when students turn up to class five minutes late. I also detest messy, dirty, and dysfunctional places and refuse to step foot in a dirty home.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is losing someone I love. There are three people in my life who mean the world to me: my girlfriend; my sister; and my mother.

If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

This is going to be hard to say, but I was a professional lover to a wealthy woman to pay off my university debts.

Saira Quinn and I had a business arrangement: she helped me financially in exchange for my body. I was seeing her on an ad hoc basis after our binding contract. However, that arrangement turned sour, due to her growing demands and subliminal threats, in short.

I lived a hedonistic lifestyle and bedded countless women; it wasn't unusual to partake in orgies to appease wealthy clients who paid Saira handsomely. She had one rule: don't fall in love. She worked hard to destroy my relationship with Saph on more than one occasion.

If I could change one thing, it would be the day Saira approached me; I wish I had never met the woman. That's all I'll say about her.

Thank you for being so open. Are you happy we know your story?

I felt rather awkward about disclosing my life; you see, I've always been a rather closed person. Saph is more gregarious and loquacious, but she's a little preoccupied at the moment.

Sounds like there's a story there. A few rapid fire questions before I let you go. I think this first one will be easy. Are you in love?

I'm in love with a very special woman: Sapphire Audrey Blake. She's named after the birthstone that matches the color of her eyes, which is the stone for September, the month in which she was born. She's the first woman I've had a deep connection with, and the only woman I'll ever love.

Do you have siblings?

My sister Vera is three years younger than me and a little older than Saph. Vera is an extrovert and a wild card with questionable taste in relationship choices. I'm protective of Vera because I care about her and I don't want to see her get hurt. Unfortunately, she's that kid who'll jump into the deep end of the pool before learning to swim. Oh, the joy of being an older brother.

I totally get that. Do you have a secret?

Saph and I like to spice things up in the bedroom with a little BDSM and some kink. I don't mind that she dominates at times. Everything we do together is safe, healthy, and consensual.

Do you like to cook?

I enjoy good wine and cooking, especially Italian meals. Saph's favorite dish is my risotto. My sister, on the other hand, is a disasterpiece in the kitchen. Vera's been to a cooking class, but I don't think she learned much from it.

Do you exercise or are you a couch potato?

I have a daily routine where I exercise before or after work. After dealing with back pain years ago, I started strength training at the local gym. Taking care of my health and eating well is a lifestyle, not a phase.

Before I let you go, is there anything you want to say to your fans?

Be careful about making deals with anyone you don't know too well. It's better to be poor and blameless than to be a fool in life and love. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Can we look forward to reading more of your story?

Absolutely. It's more than a lesson on love; it's a lesson on life.

Well said Professor. That's a perfect place to end the interview. Thank you for talking to us today. Any last words?
