This week I interviewed Xandea who is an mcyt fanfic author who writes a lot about Hermitcraft and the life series!
Their work has been read by Martyn and today is in fact their birthday! So go check them out and wish them a happy birthday!

Question 1: How'd you stumble across mcyt and start writing? I started watching Hermitcraft during Season 5, but didn't find out about the fandom until Season 7 in early 202. I inadvertently discovered Hermittpad a few months later, but I was too young to make an account so I used to write my own fics and oneshots in an old school notebook (they were all awful). Then in March 2021, I made my own account and started publishing my writing :D

Question 2: Do you ever think of doing something else? Maybe writing original stories or maybe even stepping away from Wattpad and moving on with your life? I've never seriously considered quitting writing, but the thought has certainly been on my mind once or twice. It doesn't take a genius to see that Hermittpad has been slowly dividing in numbers over the years, and my fics have been performing much better on AO3 despite the fact that I have a much smaller platform over there. That said, I don't think I could ever leave Wattpad permanently, as it's where my writing first took off and it's how I've been able to make such amazing friends online <3

Question 3: If you're comfortable with it, would you mind telling me a bit about your home life? Do you enjoy time with your family or is it hard? And do they know about your Wattpad life? I'm very lucky to have amazing parents and two younger siblings who are like my best friends. That said, they don't know about this online stuff and I sometimes feel bad for going behind their backs, but they still mean the world to me and I'll always be grateful for their support.

Question 4: Do you share the fact that you're on Wattpad in your life, such as at school, or do you keep it under wraps? No, I've never told anybody about my Wattpad account before, and I probably won't tell any of them about it anytime soon. Partially because I don't want my family to find out about it, and partially because it would be kind of embarrassing to tell my friends that I write fanfics about MCYTs.

Question 5: Any plans for the future with your writing? Maybe any upcoming stories? I'm currently putting all my focus and attention towards my most recent book, Legacies. That said, I also have plans for the next fic that I'll write after Legacies is finished (I only write one story at a time to help me stay focused), and without spoiling too much, it will be a sequel/continuation to another book. I've never actually written a sequel for a fic before, so I'm pretty excited about it!

Question 6: Are there any big mistakes that you regret in your life or anything you wish you can go back and change? Honestly, if I were to change one thing, it would be joining Wattpad, Discord, Twitter, etc at such a young age. I was exposed to a lot of toxicity and negativity when I was far too young to know how to properly navigate it, and to this day it's still taken a big toll on my mental health. I'm glad to have learned from some of those experiences, but on the other hand, I've seen and dealt with some pretty awful things (and people) that no child should ever have to endure on their own.

Question 7: Are you facing any big struggles in your life right now? You don't have to share any specifics if you do not feel comfortable with it. Honestly, my main struggle right now is how busy I've been over the last few months. Between school, work, moving house, personal stuff, etc, I haven't found much time to write and it's been hard to update my fics frequently and on schedule. So far I'd like to think that I've done a good job at keeping on top of everything, but it's still quite difficult with all that's going on at the moment.

Question 8: If Martyn were to react to one of your fanfics again, what fanfic would you want it to be? Legacies, probably. I know Martyn isn't a Hermit and it's a Hermitcraft centered fic, but I'd still like to see his opinion on my interpretation of the Watcher/Evo lore. That, and also the fact that Legacies is the fic I'm most proud of, because I'd honestly be mortified if a CC reacted to any of my older writing
