moonxriver Interview

Interviewing: moonxriver / eleftheriaa on YouTube

What is your name?
    I'm Andréa

Examples of your work:

How long have you been making graphics for?
I started making video almost seven years ago so that means I started making covers abut 4 years ago.

How did you get into graphic designing?
As I mentioned above I started out as a video editor and I was a part of a community where we would create our own films and tv series. Films and series usually have posters and promotional photos, so I did a lot of that for my projects and when the community started to dwindle I came to Wattpad and decided to make covers (posters) for authors.

This was my first ever graphic:

What type of graphics do you make, and which do you prefer?

I'm not sure how to describe my type/style. I am definitely into manip covers and also movie poster style covers. I Never ventured into minimalist covers and whatever other styles there are.

What is your favourite part of graphic making?

It's really good practice! I have definitely seen an evolution in my work. But most of all it's a great refuge, it keeps me busy and it's fun!

How long does it usually take you to make a graphic?
It really depends on the difficulty of the cover and what was requested, but I'd say approximately 2-3 hours.

What program(s) do you use for making your graphics?
    I use Photoshop CS6.

Where do you get your inspiration from/who inspires you?
I don't really have a particular person that inspires me. There are people that I find talented here on Wattpad, but what really inspires me are professional movie posters. Rather than a person, it's a style that inspires me. I see a poster for an upcoming movie when I'm out and about and I always find myself observing/studying it. Most of my work is based off that.

Do you have any tips for aspiring graphic designers?
I've been asked this quite a lot and the first thing that comes to my mind is, be patient with yourself and practice. You won't be 'the best' overnight. I also encourage people to find their signature style, I like to think that if people see one of my covers they know it's mine instantly without having to check. I hope it's the case :P
