When did you join Wattpad?

 I joined Wattpad in 2019, so it's three years ago from now. I can't believe I am still on this site XD

When did you publish your first book?

 I published my first work– a poetry book in 2019 only. I used to be a poetess way back and it took me some time before I began writing novels or novellas.

What made you want to join Nerds Awards 2022?

The urge to get some general recognition! And the awards looked promising:)

What do you dislike most in writing?

I dislike writing purple prose or using words that are too difficult to understand too frequently. 

Apart from that, I guess everybody is wary of Writer's block. 

Have you ever experienced getting hurtful comments on your stories? If you have/have not, what do you wish to tell other Wattpad how to fight it?

I have, several times. Some were intended to correct stuff that was in reality grammatically and structurally polished, while other comments were a result of differences in perspective not being expressed politely. My stories have sensitive themes, and when I say sensitive, know that many people can be affected if they don't read with an open mind. Earlier when people used to bash me and ridicule me for writing on risky themes, I used to fight with them using words. But now I feel that most times even a reply to them is not necessary. You cannot change them or convince them. Just ignore it and keep working on what you love. One cannot please everybody and there ought to be some opposition, or else the journey isn't interesting!

Are your characters from your imagination or inspiration?

 A bit of both. I am into history and many of my characters are inspired by historical characters or mythological stories. And then I mix with it my imagination to create something totally new! 

What do you want to tell us about yourself or do you have any advice to give other Wattpaders?

 Well, about myself. . . I am quite a complex human being like my own characters XD. And I love being such. Life isn't all black and white, you know; sometimes you are leaning towards the light and sometimes leaning towards the dark. It's also a reason why I use the pen name Maya– it is related to the essence of magic, and illusion and that there's something above good and evil. Advice for other wattpaders– write for yourself and not others. The need is all about your creativity to be expressed, that's the primary focus. Try to be yourself, not different, or someone who follows the trend. And then if somebody likes the message your book gives, thank the divine and pat yourself on the back!
