Chapter Seven - The Outcast

Luke

After four days on a civilian transport, Luke arrived on Corellia, the planet he assumed was his home world before the Jedi Order had taken him as a toddler. He had no intention of trying to find his old family, however. The only reason he was on this planet was because it had massive shipyards, which gave him a broad array of opportunities to move forward. He was currently deep in one of Corellia's forests, hiking on foot from one of the spaceports to one of the smaller shipyards.

Luke was enraged at the Council's decision to banish him. They'd accused him and found him guilty of experimenting with the Dark Side in pursuit of strength and expelled him for it. If experimenting with the Dark Side was so bad, then why did they continue to allow Master Plute and his old Padawan, DeeAnjel, to continue their practices? Luke didn't know why he was asking himself that; he knew the answer. He knew that the Council didn't like anyone not under their direct influence tampering with such powers. The Council was also afraid of how powerful he was becoming. His prowess in lightsaber combat since that first trip to Yavin had grown to the point where he now rivaled Masters Toria, Nerva, and Odin combined. He knew the looks Hade Plute had been giving him, how he wanted to keep this power for himself and his old apprentice. He'd tried to out Master Plute, but Master Triv had said that the Anzati's experiments were closely regulated and overseen by the Council. The very Council that was supposed to fear the Dark Side.

"HYPOCRITES!" Luke roared as he drew his lightsaber and slashed. It's light blue blade cut through the tree in front of him. It fell with a crash, causing many birds in the surrounding area to flock into the sky. He gripped his lightsaber tightly. Another failure of the Order in his opinion; not ensuring that he left behind such a destructive weapon. For all their paranoia, they sure didn't search him down very well.

For all his problems with the Order, however, there were two things keeping him there. One of them was the power and knowledge that came with it. Although he had been a Knight, there were still many things he wished to learn.

"Do not see your expulsion as a negative happening," a voice that was as hard as obsidian said in his head. "They were holding you back. There is no knowledge about the Force that they held that I do not also possess."

Luke nodded to himself. However, he began to think about the other reason he hadn't left the order by his choice; Annabeth. They hadn't even given him an opportunity to say goodbye to her. Most Master/Padawan relationships reflected parent/child relationships, but Annabeth had been more like a little sister to him; he cared deeply for her. Now her future was doomed by the limitations put in place by the Council. He cut down two more trees in anger.

"Your thoughts dwell on your former apprentice," the voice said, sounding like it was speaking over Luke's shoulder. The former Jedi stiffened.

"I wish they had let me talk to Annabeth before I left," Luke muttered. "Maybe she would've gone with me."

"It is indeed a shame that we were unable to recruit young Chayst," the voice said. "She would have proved very useful."

"Don't talk about her like she's a tool!" Luke yelled, swinging his lightsaber in a wide arc that would have cut down anyone in a meter radius of him. His skin suddenly began to feel like ice. He closed his eyes and grunted. He opened them again and saw his shadow, but it looked like he was an Iktotchi. He blinked and his shadow looked human again.

He rubbed the bridge of his nose with his left hand as he thought about the very Council that threw him out. He didn't have personal issues with many individual members of the Council. He was jealous of Master Plute's power gained from the Dark Side and he didn't like Master Nerva and Master Toria's attitudes, but other than them, the individuals weren't that bad. It was the group as a whole that was the problem, and there was one member in particular who Luke felt was responsible for their weakness and fear.

"That sniveling Octavian," Luke snarled, holding his lightsaber blade up so it was centimetres from his nose. "If I see that Cerean again, I'm going to make him pay for his insolence."

"Patience," the voice said. "There will come a time for vengeance. Octavian shall be useful in spreading fear within the Jedi Order." Luke calmed down slightly and deactivated his lightsaber. He was still enraged, but he wasn't lashing out. "Their fear of the Dark Side shall be our greatest ally."

"Very well," Luke said aloud. He returned his lightsaber to the his belt and pulled the trench coat he was wearing over it. "How do you wish for me to proceed?"

"Seize a vessel and make your way to where you first heard me," the voice said. "From there, I will guide you to the ancient site of my ascension where I will begin your training."

Luke knelt towards the shadows cast by the forest and bowed his head.

"As you wish, Lord Kronus."
