Chapter 8: Unconscious in his own pool of blood

     "So let me understand. You two ate, then you went to a game room?" Jimin asks as he puts on his shoes, and Taehyung nods, then rolls his eyes.

     "Yes, and that idiot bragged about winning all the time. I swear! He was way too lucky! " the bandanna boy comments, then smiles a little. "It was pretty fun though." he replies after, and his best friend moves his glance to him, with a subtle smirk.

      "You make it sound like you were with Jeon on a date. " Jimin jokes and the other looks at him as if he told him the most insulting thing possible.

      "Please, I wouldn't date Jungkook not even in a thousand years. " Taehyung mumbles as he looks for his own shoes.

       "And why is that? Weren't you the one convinced that he is a bottom? Or did you change your mind after that date? "

     The other one just looks at the blond-haired boy bored. They should probably hurry and go to the field because they have training. The others are already there, and while Jimin and Taehyung are gossiping in the locker room, the others are probably already warming up.

       "Again, it was not a date!" Taehyung repeats, then shrugs. "And I am even more convinced that he is a bottom, be careful you will lose that bet for sure." he says after, and Jimin raise his left eyebrow.

       "Then? Don't you think he's your type or why you will never date him?" the blond-haired boy asks, and the other one thinks a few seconds. 

      Why wouldn't he ever date Jeon Jungkook? At the body, he really looks damn good, even though he's just as well made as the older one is. But those full thighs and that ass ... Yeah, Taehyung would be lying if he said he didn't see him as someone attractive. But he doesn't like how mischievous he can be at times. Even if in recent days it has become a little easier to bear.

      "Simply. I do not like him." he answers and then gets up from the bench.

       "Oh yeah, where is he? I didn't see him coming into the locker room before. " Jimin asks later, and then he gets up from the bench at his turn.

      The team captain seems to lose his words a few moments, then straightens his voice. He then puts his phone in the backpack on the bench, and walks out of the locker room.

       "I don't know, he hasn't been back in the room since last night. " he admits and his friend looks at him confused.

        "What? What do you mean?" Jimin asks as they both head for the exit, towards the football field.

        "I... Well, we kinda argued a little, and he got a little angry, and then he left. The idiot left the room at two in the morning and did not came back all night. I have no idea where the hell he slept. " Taehyung explains, as the shorter one can not tell if he should be amused or amazed.

        "What the hell happened between the two of you that made him so angry ?! "

      Taehyung thinks a second, then another one. Even if he doesn't like Jungkook very much, he can't be so stupid as to tell Jimin about what he found out last night. He can't tell him that he found out that the idiot who punched him right from his first day here, started crying and admitting that he had hurt himself in the past. He knows that there are limits, and above all, Taehyung has a stronger character than pride.

       "I ăăm... kinda forgot, nothing important anyway." the bandanna boy lies, then they both leave the building and look at the football field.

       "Fine, but you are not worried even a little bit about him? I mean... What if he didn't came back all night and not even this morning because something happened to him? Especially since he's still new on campus, and he doesn't know much about the area. " Jimin suggests and the other one only frowns when he notices a lot of students gathered on the football field.

     And yeah, maybe he is kinda worried about his roommate. Even though the idiot is annoying, he really hopes that nothing bad has happened to him. In the end, he is the captain of the team, and Jungkook is part of the team, although he doesn't really get along each other. And even though he called him more than ten times last night, Jungkook didn't answer, which kind of irritated Taehyung. But he kept telling himself that he was deliberately rejecting his calls because of his anger.

        "I... I bet he is fine. You already know how weird he can be. I'm not going to ruin the beginning of the week because of him. " Taehyung mumbles, but when he notices how surprised his friend is looking at the football field, he frowns again.

        "Dude, why are so many students gathered on the football field? " Jimin asks and the other just shrugs, then they both start running towards the crowd.

       "What happ-"

      Pause. Taehyung is no longer able to finish his question, because when he manages to slip through the crowd and reach the center of it, his heart seems to forget how to beat. What he sees freezes his blood, and immediately a huge wave of guilt overwhelms him. 

       "Jungkook!" he then screams and immediately falls to his knees next to two other boys.

     He rests after his roommate's bloody head on his feet as he begins to tremble. Damn, damn it! What the hell happened here? Why is Jeon Jungkook unconscious, in a puddle made of his own blood? And why does it look like someone intended to beat him to death?

       "Someone call an ambulance! " Jimin intervenes as Taehyung tries to wake the younger one, calling his name.

     But without any result, Jungkook doesn't wake up, while Taehyung feels like he's starting to go crazy because of worry.

       "I've already called, they are on their way at the moment." one of the teammates says, and the captain just slowly touches the other's bloody lips as he closes his eyes.

       It's his fault, If he hadn't quarreled last night, the idiot wouldn't have left the room and maybe this wouldn't have happened! If anything will happen with ... Kim Taehyung will not be able to forgive himself.

      "He is okay, right? Can I see him now?" Taehyung asks while his colleagues and the coach are waiting for the doctor's answer. 

     The man in the white robe looks over some sheets, then turns his attention to the boy in front of him.

       "To our surprise, he had no broken bones, and fortunately no internal bleeding. That boy is pretty strong. " he says and they all seem to breathe more relaxed immediately. "But we have to keep him under observation for a few more days. The blows were really strong and he lost a lot of blood, so we had to do a blood transfusion as well." he explains after, and this time the coach intervenes.

       "But he will be okay, right?" the man asks, and the doctor nods.

       "Yeah, but as I said, he needs to stay a few days here. We need to monitor him for a while, so he should stay with one of you. I tried to contact his parents, but no one answered. "

      Taehyung frowns subtly. Why wouldn't Jungkook's parents answer? They should know their son's condition, they should come here! Hell, why do people tend not to answer when they are needed?

        "Of course, I will stay wit-"

         "No, I will stay with him." Taehyung's voice interrupts the older man, then looks at him seriously. "Coach, he is my roommate and I am the captain as well. I need to be the one who will stay with him. " the boy in the bandanna explains and all his colleagues look at him proudly.

        "Fine, but if anything happens, you have to call me immediately. Maybe I will be able to find out what happened with him." the man in the tracksuit says, and Taehyung then looks at Jimin.

        "I will message you if I get bored." he comments and the blond haired-boy nods.

       Everyone leaves later, and Taehyung immediately looks at the doctor again. Yes, he could leave and let his coach stay with the tattooed boy. IBut it's also his fault that Jungkook is in the hospital now. He has to take responsibility. And anyway, if he had returned to campus, he would not have been able to sleep because of guilt.

        "Can I... Can I go to him now?" he repeats the question, and the other man nods.

         "Yeah, but be careful to not bother him. He needs a lot of rest at the moment." the doctor comments, and the younger one says nothing more, just carefully opens the door to Jungkook's room while the doctor goes towards his office.

       Taehyung slowly bites his lips when he sees how some infusions are connected to his roommate's arms, and how an oxygen tube is placed on his face. The blood on his face is cleansed, but instead of that, there are some scratches left, and in the area of ​​his right eye, there are some stitches.

        "You... you are really a troublemaker, Jeon." the bandanna boy whispers, as he sits on the chair next to his bed.

       Then he looks at him intently. Even though he is unconscious, even now he does not seem to be completely relaxed. Even now he seems to be dreaming of something not very pleasant. And that makes the other one to wonder again if the tattooed boy has trouble sleeping because of some nightmares, or if he's suffering from insomnia. Not just once he saw him weep in his sleep, or start talking and being more than tormented. And Taehyung knows that, even if the younger one needs help, he will never admits this loud.

        "What the hell happened to you? Did you ... were you hit by a train or something? " he tries to joke but doesn't hear anyone laughing.

       Even he doesn't find funny the joke, because yeah, the state that he found Jungkook a few hours ago, was really awful. He must know what happened to him, and that at any cost. It doesn't matter how annoying and insensitive Jungkook can be, but Taehyung is the captain, and no one can do that to his teammate.

        "You said last night that I should start hating you, Jeon. " he says later and looks intently at the unconscious boy. "But unfortunately for you, I can't. At least not until I find out what's the real deal with you. " he says later and sighs.

      It is the first time he has not heard a sarcastic response from the boy with the longer hair. And if until now he thought that silence between them is preferable, at this moment it is much too oppressive. He probably prefers an extremely proud and sarcastic Jungkook much more than a Jungkook who lies unconscious on a hospital bed.

       "Is pretty quiet here without your stupid mouth." he comments after, waiting for any replies, but receiving none. "I do not really like it." he continues in the same low tone, without taking his eyes off, from the boy on the hospital bed.

       "You need to get well soon, Jeon. I know you love to annoy me, and from now on, I will try to be more lenient with you." he says again, feeling the same guilt on his shoulders. "I'm sorry, Jungkook. I ... I shouldn't have been so intrusive last night. Maybe ... maybe we wouldn't have gotten here. "

      He knows. He knows that once the idiot in front of him wakes up, he won't be able to treat him like he used to. Because he can't be a liar to say he's not to blame. It's partly his fault that Jeon Jungkook is in this state. And even if the younger boy continues to be unbearable, Taehyung will probably just have to put up with it.

       "All this because of your dramatic ass." the older one mumbles after, then he puts better the blanket over him, and he gets up, looking for a sofa, where he should sleep.
