Chapter 25: The truth under the mask of suffering

     "Tae, if you want to talk with him, first, try to calm down a bit. We will be in big trouble if you pick a fight at the moment." the blond-haired boy comments, looking in a serious glance at his best friend, as the other one just rolls his eyes.

     "I am more than just calm, Chim. I just wanna talk with this stupid head, nothing more. Y'know, just a small conversation, this is all." Taehyung defense himself, then looks at the door in front of him, then knock on the piece of wood a few times.

    Jimin just sighs, not knowing if he should trust the bandanna-boy or not, but knowing that he is more than just stubborn so yeah, there is not way that Jimin can stop Taehyung right now. Oh, where are they now, may you ask?

     After the coach and the rest of the team came to visit Jungkook, Taehyung said that he needs a shower and some change of clothes, but Jimin realized from his look, that this was not the case. So after the boy with the bandanna apologized and said he would be back in a maximum of one hour, Jimin wanted to go with him, although Taehyung did not agree at first. 

    But he didn't want to give any suspicions so he told his best friend that he ca come, and now Jimin is more than glad now, that he came with him. Because yes, Taehyung took a quick shower and changed, but he stopped somewhere, and didn't go to the hospital exactly after that. Can you guess where he stopped?

      In front of Yoongi's room, you were right. Why? Nothing important, the bandanna-boy just needs to talk a few minutes with the stupid silver-head. Don't worry, he's not going to start a scandal or something like that.

     "I am coming, wait a minute, dang it!"  Yoongi's voice is heard beyond the door, and as soon as he opens it, Taehyung doesn't wait for anything else, as he literally jumps on him, punching him in the face again and again.

    Okay, maybe "the little talk" will be after this "little fight"? 

     "Shit!" the blond-haired boy swears then intervenes between the two of them quickly, and takes his best friend off from Yoongi, then pulls him next to him. "Just a fucking small talk you said, hmm?" he asks after and glance in a not-so-pleasant glance at the bandanna-boy.

      "Sorry, but when I saw his ugly face, I just couldn't help it. " Taehyung says in a high voice, and Yoongi just smirks as he gets up from the floor.

      "Should that bother me? By the way, you know that if I report you to the coach for hitting me again, you won't be allowed to play in the next matches, right? "  the silver-haired boy asks still with a smirk on his face, as Taehyung closes the door. 

      Good thing this idiot's roommate isn't here. It's not like he couldn't have beat him as well, but he prefers to talk more freely with this bastard.

      "You should be glad I didn't put you back in the hospital like last time. " Taehyung's thick, flat voice makes Yoongi to chuckles weakly, while Jimin just tries to be careful at his friend, not to start another fight.

      "You mean where is Jungkook at the moment, right? Aish, I was really sorry when I heard that he had recovered. I really hoped he has taken a stronger overdose and that the world has got rid of a parasite like him, but yeah, unfortunately he is still alive. "

      Jimin doesn't know if he should be worried about what he hears, or how Taehyung clenches his fists. If the idiot Yoongi keeps talking like that, they'll definitely need another ambulance. Or judging by the mad look of his best friend, a coffin.

      "How the hell can you say that? " It's Taehyung's turn to ask, as his voice begins to break. "In fact, how the hell can you do all this to him? As far as I know, your boyfriend, the boy you loved with all your heart, died trying to save him! Then how the hell can you do that to him? " he continues after, and the older one's smirk drops instantly. 

      "If you want to still breathing, don't dare bring Hoseok in this conversation. You have no idea what happened in the past, you have no idea about anything, Kim. "

     At this point Jimin just can look at them both, not having really a lot of ideas about what the fuck this conversation is. He knows that Jungkook tried to commit suicide in the past, and he knows that he used to take drugs. But what does this have to do with a so-called Hoseok? Or rather, who is this Hoseok and why did he died trying to save the tattooed boy?

      "Yes, maybe you're right. Maybe I don't know all the details of your and Jungkook's past. But one thing I know for sure: Jungkook fights his own guilt and demons every day, and you're just trying to hurt him even more. How the hell does that look like you loved Hoseok, Min? He died trying to save Jungkook, and now you are doing nothing but mocking his death, trying to kill the one he saved. This is not love, this is madness at another level."

     A pause of a few seconds, in which Yoongi says nothing. A few seconds in which Jimin thinks the two are gonna start fighting again. A few seconds in which Taehyung tries not to break down now, imagining how much pain Jungkook had to endure.

     "Maybe I am crazy, Kim." Yoongi's sorrowful voice takes them both by surprise, and they immediately notice that the older one's eyes look teary. "You would not be crazy if the last memory of the one you love, if the last moment you heard his voice, was just before it was dusted by a car, then flying meters away, becoming one with the ground? Wouldn't you freeze your heart for the rest of your life if the last time you saw your boyfriend's face was when his blood flowed everywhere and he was as pale as a ghost? ""

     Taehyung did not really expect such words. He didn't though Yoongi was going to say such a thing, something so ... personal. And this terrible memory of the silver-haired boy arouses in the boy with the bandanna another suspicion. Did Yoongi's boyfriend died when he was thrown by a car while rescuing Jungkook? And Yoongi was present at that incident?

      He doesn't even want to imagine the pain Yoongi probably felt at that moment. Taehyung would be lying if he says he doesn't instantly feels more empathy for the man he wanted to kill him with his own hands a few minutes ago. He can't even imagine what would have happened if he had been in place of Yoongi, and Jungkook in place of the boy who saved him.

      "Yoongi, this is... awful, I am really sorry. But that doesn't excuse all the pain you've caused to Jungkook. " the bandanna-boy comments, and Jimin feels the need to leave them both alone, feeling already in plus at this discussion. 

     Something tells him that they won't jump on each other's throats anymore, so he can let them talk quietly.

      "I... I need to do something, you two can talk." the blond-haired boy mumbles under his breath, then leaves the room without waiting for another reply, and close the door again, after that. 

      And the silver-head just glance at the floor for some seconds, then moves his gaze again at the younger one. His eyes no longer shine in the same sarcastic way, but in fact, they do not shine at all anymore. The desolation and coldness of those gloomy memories have already taken hold of them.

     "Really? This don't excuse me for all the pain I've caused to your dear Jungkook? But what about all the pain he has caused me? The pain he provoked to his own parents? To his friends?"

     Maybe it was not the best decision for Taehyung to be here. He is more than just damn confused, and he feels like he is talking to a wall at the moment. Heck, what is Yoongi keep saying and why is he talking like... coded? Yes, he knows what pain he did to Yoongi. He knows that the silver-haired boy blames Jungkook because of the death on his boyfriend. But what pain did he cause to his parents? Or his friends? What this means?

     "I... I don't understand what you are saying. " the boy in the bandanna admits, and the other one just sighs, then turns his back, as he approaches the window.

     "Of course not, you are just an outsider." the older one comments, still avoiding the visual contact. "You know, I didn't always hate Jungkook, and even more so, in an distant past, I cared about him like a little brother. He was my... my sweet bunny, yeah, kinda cringe, but that's what I used to call him. " he continues, and a faint smile sits on the other's face.

      A bunny. Jungkook really looks like a bunny, especially when he smiles (though he doesn't do it too often, much to Taehyung's chagrin). Apparently he is not the only one who believes this. The fact that Yoongi used to call Jungkook that way shows how close they used to be. It means they were good friends, or like brothers, according to silver-head. Then what happened?

     "So what changed?"

     "He changed." Yoongi answers immediately, still without returning. "He found a group of friends with negative influences, he started taking drugs, smoking, ... doing all the things that would make a problematic-teen. And even though we were still trying to get him back on the good road, everything seemed lost. He was already lost. "

     This makes the boy with the bandanna to takes a deep breath, these words slightly cutting his heart. He remembers a discussion with the tattooed boy, when he told him he feels lost.

      "Wh- What happened after?"

      "He was invited to a party where the drugs were completely different, much more dangerous, more lethal. " Yoongi starts and the younger one swallows in sec. "His brother and I somehow found out the address and left to pick him up. But Jungkook had already taken possession of the drugs and he became numb and unconscious of his own actions. He started running like crazy outside, and Hoseok wanted to take him before something bad happens to him. And then a car was on the road and ... just before Jungkook was trampled by it, Hoseok chose to push Jungkook and make himself the one who was killed by it. "

      Taehyung's breathing stops as his heart searches for any other answer than the one already obvious. No ... that's not possible. Is Hoseok the one who was killed trying to save Jungkook? That Hoseok that Jungkook and Yoongi were talking about a few weeks ago? 

      "You mean-"

       "Because of that accident, Jungkook's friends were all locked up, and he somehow ecaped. His parents lost their eldest son, and I ... I lost my sunshine forever. "

     Yoongi's voice is completely different this time, while other tears begin to fall on the younger's face. No, that's not possible. The truth cannot be so cruel! This must to be a mistake!

      "Hoseok... Hoseok was-"

      "Hoseok was the one who saved Jungkook and killed himself. " Yoongi interrupts him again, then turns to face him, and Taehyung can see some tears even on his stone face. "Jungkook killed his own brother because of his addiction, even if indirectly. And for this... I will never be able to forgive him. Never."

      And if Taehyung thought he already knew something about the tattooed boy, now he realized that it was nothing more than a fog full of lies and secrets.

Maybe the chapter doesn't have any taekook moments, but it is very important for the plot, because yes, maybe in this way you can understand a little bit about Yoongi's attitude as well
