michael had known that he was going to visit calum for new year's for quite some time. since he left from the first time they were together actually.

he'd been trying to convince his parents that - since he dropped out of school - he could live on his own. mr. and mrs. clifford were quite skeptical about letting michael live on his own, especially in a different country.

eventually, they let him go for a visit for a month, to see how he does on his own, and if he is okay by himself then he'll be able to move. michael had reminded his parents that they have family in virginia and they were feeling slightly better about the whole "moving" situation after that.

michael hadn't told his mum and dad about calum yet. obviously michael was going to stay with his boyfriend while he was in virginia, but he thought moving in might be a little too soon. they've known each other for about six months and have been dating for almost three of them.

calum was honestly so excited to see his boyfriend. they hadn't been togetjer for almost two months, and when youre dating someone from a different country, it's a little harder to see them more often, obviously.

knowing that he would be getting unlimited cuddles (and maybe sex) from michael - for however long he was staying anyway. calum didnt know - made him even happier.

calum figured that michael would just show up at his house because he didnt say anything about picking him up. so he waited.
