it was 5:45am when Luke's alarm went off. he, gladly, found a flight a little later in the morning (10:30). the bad part was that he barely got any sleep the last night. he was pondering of texting Ashton for a long time and he somehow ended up in the subject of death and the meaning of life, so he basically was crying because of life.

because life is good! life is great for Luke. he's seeing his boyfriend today, they've made up and hopefully Ashton is excited to see him.

wait. Ashton doesn't know. that's right. and he's kinda glad too. what if Ashton isn't excited to see him though?

'stop it, Luke' he thought to himself.

Luke finally stood up from his bed and walked downstairs to get some cereal to see his mother awake.

"hey, what are you doing awake?" he asked Liz.

"Luke, I know you're gonna forget something if I let you leave on your own." Liz said. "now, what do you want for breakfast?"

he told her lucky charms and sat down at the bar and she passed him the bowl of food. "mom, what if he doesn't want to see me?"

his mother gasped, "Luke! I saw the way he looked at you and the way you guys acted when he was here, of course he'll want to see you!"

"I'm not sure, mom. he's been acting... off recently." he said sadly.

"don't let this kill your mood. stay happy, he'll be so happy. I promise." Liz kissed his cheek and walked into the living room.

"come in here when you have everything ready so I can make sure you actually do!" she called and Luke made his way upstairs.

"thanks for driving me."

Calum shook his head and turned down the Green Day that was playing on the radio. "no problem, buddy. have fun seeing Ashton! I'm sure he'll love the surprise!"

"I don't know, Cal. I'm kinda nervous. what if–"

Calum cut Luke off, "stop with all the 'what if' bullshit. he's gonna be happy. now, do you have everything?"

Luke laughed and nodded. "yeah, my mom checked about seven times to make sure I did. thanks though."

"no problem," he patted Luke's shoulder. "go get Ash! and tell him I say hello!" Calum called as Luke got out of the car.

"will do!" he said back and waved to his friend who was now driving away.

Luke walked into the airport with a big smile on his face, excited to see his partner, who on the other side of the country, wasn't doing so well.
