THE TRUUTH?!

Edit: Oh my god, you're KILLING ME

~
With your room door locked and sealed up so no one can enter, you sat up against your bed, toying with the crystal in your hand. You stared blankly at the wall. You didn't know how the fight with Zarkon went, you didn't care to know. You wanted to be alone. You know you were supposed to feel something. Anger, sadness, frustration... but you didn't. You didn't feel anything you were supposed to. You attacked Voltron, your friends. You don't even know if you're still friends after that stunt. P/n wasn't with you. Her parts were still floating through space. For the first time, you felt alone. You were alone.

The crystal glowed brighter and brighter until it was like a lightbulb. You lowered your head onto your knees and threw the necklace across the floor where it rolled to the other side of the room. The crystal lost its glow and dulled down. You slumped down and curled into fetal position on the floor.

"P/n... I'm sorry..." You said quietly, your frame trembling. You were never one for social interaction. You didn't mind it, but too much of it, and you began to grow disenchanted. But now you wished you were in someone's—something's presence. You've never went a day in your life where you were without P/n. And now you have to go the rest of your life without her. Your chest tightened just from the thought. The floor underneath the crystal began to freeze over and make its way across the room. You felt the cold sting on your bare skin, but you chose to ignore it. It didn't bother you, and you had other things going on right now. The crystal cracked open, whisps of icy mist rising into the air.

"Y/n..." That soft voice made you lift your head, though not a lot.

"Mom...?" Your voice cracked, and was hoarse, thanks to your crying. She was an apparition. Not a living thing.

"Y/n... it's been a while, hasn't it?" She greeted softly.

"What's going on, Mom? P/n... she was supposed to be indestructible!" You exclaimed, finally sitting up, your cheeks stiff from the dried tears. "You lied to me!"

"P/n was indestructible. To external attacks," M/n replied. That silenced you for a moment.

"What do you mean?" You asked.

"This will take time," she warned.

"I don't care."
M/n sighed and sat down, despite being an apparition.

"P/n was powered by a chunk of the crystal that was in the throne room. That crystal was concentrated quintessence which gave life to P/n. When the quintessence was sucked out of her, the crystal died and shattered. In fact, Glacies was just a planet full of concentrated quintessence. Our ice is a sub form of quintessence. The only difference being is that our ice does not maintain life," M/n explained. You stared at her for a second before down at your hand.

"Then... those powers... my abilities... where did they come from?" You asked quietly.

"That's where... things get complicated and personal," she replied carefully. You looked up at her with furrowed brows.

"What do you mean?"

"Before Princess Allura's father, King Alfor, built the lions from a comet that came through a rift of another reality, there was one that came a few phoebs (months) before that," she went on to explain, "A trans-reality comet had crashed into Zarkon's home planet, Daibazaal. Of course, King Alfor and Zarkon had not known at that time. The comet that had crashed, unlike the next one, didn't open a rift to an alternate reality. The comet had blue quintessence leaking out of it. They had tested it, and ran it through many algorithms and scans. They didn't find anything worth mentioning, but when they cut through the comet, they found a small anomaly in the center of it. When it was extracted, the ore promptly died. That anomaly was what was powering the comet.

"This anonaly was tested and proved to be powerful, since it could travel through different realities. As the quintants (days) went on, and the research continued, Honerva, the Altean Alchemist that King Alfor invited to work with, said that the anomaly was like an embryo at that point. All it needed was someone to help it grow and another to give it genes and DNA. The people who were able to carry a child were tested, but were deemed too weak to nurse an embryo from a different reality.

"That's where I came in."
Your eyes widened.

"You carried an alternate reality embryo?" You asked, shock overtaking your tone. She held up her hand to silence you.

"In order to complete the breeding, someone—anyone—would need to give a pint of blood and infuse it into the embryo beforehand. Zarkon volunteered to do it."

"... what?" You breathed, having a slight idea of where this was going.

"Both Honerva and King Alfor believed that when the embryo would grow, it would grow with unfathomable power and a plethora amount of abilities."

"Don't say it... please... I don't want to hear it!" You suddenly cried, covering your ears.

"Like a regular pregnancy, I gave birth to it. I was twenty. You were the result of that comet, of those tests, and research, Y/n."

"No! Stop!"

"I was telling the truth about when Zarkon killed the inhabitants of Glacies, but Zarkon and I were never married. He and I never had that kind of relationship. You have his genes, but you only inherited them through his blood. He helped make you, but he's not your father. Not biologically," she pressed on.

"Then... that story... that explanation that Zarkon gave me was... a lie?" You asked quietly, gazing down at the floor.

"Yes... we closely monitored you for phoebs, but we came to the conclusion that you were a normal, functioning child. King Alfor, my engineers, and myself, built P/n to keep you company thorough your life, and monitor you. Of course, technology was much more advanced on Glacies than on Daibazaal, so P/n had more abilities than the lions. Once the other trans-reality comet crashed into Daibazaal, Honerva had cancelled any tests on you and focused on that other comet."
You stared down at the ground, your hands still over your ears, but you heard her clearly.

"So... I'm not... I'm not even from this reality... I don't know where I came from... how I was created... I..." You rambled, your voice getting more frantic. You then quieted down for a second. "... does Coran and Allura know?"

"What?"

"I said does Coran and Allura know?"
M/n was silent for a moment. The look on her face was all you needed.

"She knew of your origin. Not of whose blood you possessed, but I don't think you're the trans-reality comet experiment."

"So she knew all of that? Before me?"

"... yes."
Your first slammed onto the floor, causing M/n to flinch, and the ice underneath your fist to crack.

"Then... that story that Zarkon told me... was all a fad to get me to stop fighting him." Your body shook with anger. Your vision was shaky—unsteady. Your vision couldn't focus on anything. Your sight doubled. The ice underneath your body cracked under the pressure you were emitting.

"Y/n... this doesn't affect who you are," M/n said softly. You let out a breathy chuckle.

"Are you serious? It affects everything! It's one thing that I'm not human, I'm an alien hybrid of Galra and Glacies, but I'm not even from this reality! My true origin—everything there is to know about me..." You shot up from the floor and walked over to the wall, just staring at it. "I'm an alien hybrid who has otherworldly abilities who isn't from this reality... I don't..." You turned and paced around the room.

"... I don't even have P/n anymore," you finished quietly.

"Yes, that's true, but... you still have your friends—"

"Friends? I wasn't even supposed to be in this reality, don't you get it?" You asked, swiping your thumb across your lip in thought. M/n's brows furrowed in thought.

"Y/n, you're blowing this way out of proportion."

"Oh? Is that so? I'm blowing this out of proportion?! My childhood best friend, who literally broke into pieces, turned out to be a monitor to make sure I didn't... what? Find out the truth? Go on a rampage? Kill everyone in this dimension?!" Your breathing became heavier. "In my many years of living, I have tried, and tried, and tried, and tried to not lie to anybody. To be honest with everyone, even if it meant hurting them or losing them. What do I get in return? OH! I find out I'm a trans-reality alien who just so happened to crash into Zarkon's—who's not really my father—home planet! Oh! And look at this! I'm not even your biological child, either! Because the only thing I received from you was power and lies! Look at that!" You had finally, mentally snapped.

"And Coran and Allura knew before me! That's just the icing on the cake, isn't it?! So I was basically kicked off the team once and discriminated against for being Zarkon's daughter, but look at that shit! I ain't! What a plot twist!" You combed your fingers through your hair and laughed, tears pooling at the corner of your eyes. "What a classic... this could be a soap opera! A play!" Your tone turned gleeful, flopping onto your back on the bed. M/n stared at you in sadness. Seeing you like that made her feel guilty. You laughed even more, the tears slipping down your cheeks.

"I can see it now! The Great Y/n, Deceived!" Once your laughter settled down, realization sunk in. "What am I supposed to do now? Who am I gonna fly? I don't even know what I'm capable of."

"You're going to carry a lot more burdens in the future... but believe me when I say this, Y/n. You're only going to grow stronger because of this," she reassured. You let out breathy chuckle.

"If I don't get killed first."
M/n's face fell.

"Well... if you want to talk more, this crystal holds enough of my essence for two more times—"

"No," your voice interrupted her. You had turned on your side and faced the wall, your legs huddled close to your chest. "Stay here... you're all I have left." Your voice got quiet and shaky. M/n sighed, but complied, walking over to your bed and sitting on it.

"Of course."

Ja ne!
