Clowning
Hours later, Wolfie, Jackson and Victor walked out of the courtroom amidst camera flashes and questions being thrown at them from reporters.
Honestly, the outcome wasn't exactly what they were hoping for but it was better than the alternative.
Persephone and Lukas hadn't gotten a pence from Wolfie but he had had to cough up £143k to the Hospital for any damages he had caused after bodying their security team.
It was really no big deal because they had originally asked for £20k but he had decided on £143k because the Receptionist didn't try and pit anyone against him and she even explained that they didn't hold him accountable as he had been harassed up until the incident.
His parents had been absolutely livid and once again, it took everything he had not to burst out laughing.
But other than that, he was free to go with everything inherited. He would've loved to put his parents on trial for what they did to his Grandparents but it would be their word against his. If his Grandparents were still alive, they would've gotten justice but...
At least they passed on in peace.
Coming back to the present, he had to stop a smirk of satisfaction from flitting across his face.
It was all in a day's work, really. His parents thought that they could turn everyone against him, even paying more money than most people saw in their life to have everything wrapped up on the same day.
Not to mention, they seemed to have forgotten that they weren't the only ones around to witness the dinner nor did they realise that not everyone was as conniving as they were.
Even so, he had apologized to the Hospital's Receptionist because he had to say that he was a bit out of line that day and not to make excuses but Danny's colourful vocabulary had imprinted itself on his brain.
"You deceitful little rat!"
Huh?
He turned his head and ducked just as a purse came sailing towards him.
What the fuck?!
He straightened his posture and looked at the perpetrator to see his mother glaring at him.
What an idiot.
Camera flashes were going off and he was certain that the news headline would be colourful.
Probably something like: Persephone Hadrian goes ballistic on innocent son after failing to secure his Inheritance.
Or even: Lady Hadrian turns violent after court case goes awry.
Hell, they could be much worse than that. It was one thing to get angry after a courtcase but it was another to lose it when there were dozens of camera around and while it was being record live.
But that's not all! It was one million times worse when you were famous.
"You don't deserve all that money! That disgusting Omega is just a gold-digger!" She yelled, hands balled at her side.
Wolfie really wanted to laugh in her face but he was the victim here and he wanted it to stay that way.
Today and for who knows how long, her name and image would be tarnished beyond recognition.
He didn't even bother to respond, he just turned his back and continued walking.
A majority of the time, silence was the biggest insult.
She continued screaming at his retreating back and all he could think was that he couldn't wait until he reached home.
He had a pregnant Omega to see to.
...
Danny grinned in delight and plucked an apple slice from the bowl, biting into it with a sigh.
He finally found a house they could move to and it had five bedrooms, a basement and an attic.
More reading showed that it had space for three vehicles and it also had 5 bathrooms. Why it wasn't included next to the number of bedrooms was any guess but looking at the layout, it looked pretty great in his opinion.
He would show it to Wolfie once he got back so that they could immediately put an offer down on it. It costed £1.2M and that price wasn't bad because of how much backyard space it had, enough to build a cottage, a pool and still have enough space left to exercise and run in their Wolf forms.
The fact that it didn't cost more was pretty surprising.
He couldn't wait to buy it and move so that he could begin shopping for their pup who still didn't have a damn name.
Ugh... He felt like just calling her girl or something.
Ha. As if.
But seriously. What the heck was he gonna call her? He didn't want to decide without Wolfie so it can always wait until later.
He didn't want some so-called special name with a whole bunch of silent letters or spelt some kind of stupid way.
He didn't want his daughter to be laughed at in school. She won't be bullied because as soon as she was old enough she would be learning self-defence, going to karate classes and whatnot.
He wasn't bringing a child into this world for some little brat to go and bully her because some parents didn't know how to discipline their children.
Absentmindedly, he rubbed a hand down his distended tummy and smiled when he felt a paw print. "Hello, my wonderful Flowerpup."
The pup pushed her paw against his hand and he smiled.
He was gonna meet her next month and he couldn't wait. Sure, he was nervous but his excitement won over to meet his child who was half of himself and his Mate.
Half of him. Can you imagine creating a life which was part of you? How could anyone ever stand to harm their child or see them crying? How could any decent parents stand to see their child suffering knowing that they could do something about it?
This world was full of fucking monsters and although he couldn't protect his child from everything. He would make certain that she would have the tools necessary to do it herself when he couldn't. He wasn't about to leave his daughter defenceless in a world where Females and +Females were deemed as weak or killed because they have their dignity, because they refused the advances of others.
Danny may not have been exposed to such things but he knew that they happened.
You didn't have to have something done to you to believe that it was happening to others all around the world.
"Oof!" He came back to himself as his pup delivered a swift kick in his tummy. "Geez, I honestly hope your paws aren't long because I just know I'll have a hard time catching you when you're older."
He received another kick and couldn't help but lightly chuckle.
"I hope that isn't a confirmation."
So back to the house. After purchasing it, he couldn't wait to design the interior because he didn't think that it was allowed to change the exterior.
Kinda sucked but at least it didn't look bad... Even though the other houses on that street had the same exterior design.
Such was Britain's stiff Architectural plans.
Ugh. Now that that's out of the way, what was there for him to do? He wasn't going to worry about how Wolfie's case turned out and put himself in a panic.
Nope... He had one job and that was to kept himself and their baby safe so that was what he would do.
So in the meantime, he would find something else to occupy his time.
Probably window shopping for their daughter. He could always put them in his basket to mass order when they bought their house.
He really hoped they got it because there was so much potential to build other stuff and there would even be space for Wolfie's wine collection.
Okay... He really needed to think about something else because there was a saying that if you got too excited about something, there was a good chance that it wouldn't happen.
His family in the Caribbean were superstitious and some of it had rubbed off on him.
There was even a saying that you shouldn't whistle at night lest you invite ghosts into your home.
His Great-grandmother would tell him not to whistle in her home at night lest he invite some troublesome ghost into her home to cause her botheration.
A laugh bubbled out of his throat at the memory.
There was also some superstitions regarding Graveyards. Some were, you should never point at a Graveyard or your finger would rot. Another was never to step into a Graveyard while on your period because it was unclean and finally, not to go when you're pregnant or walk on anyone's grave or they would follow you home.
There were so many superstitions that he couldn't even begin to name all of them.
Honestly, he could care less about them because he's done every single one of them and nothing has happened as far as he knew.
He had broken how many mirrors and no bad luck... Well, no bad luck that he's aware was bad luck.
Hmmm.
He couldn't remember the last time he went to visit his family and he should really plan a vacation there. But probably after their pup was aged because he didn't want to travel while she was still in her Wolf form and still lactating.
Call him whatever you wished but he had his own restrictions and no one could sway him on that.
Everyone had their way of doing things, ways that they were comfortable with just as he had his.
He would wait until his daughter was at least three before he even thought of travelling with her. That was what he was comfortable with and he would stick with that.
A sigh escaped his lips as his tummy rumbled, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Oh damn. He really didn't want to get up but he knew sooner or later, he would get gas and his pup would probably try to kick her way out of him.
So not wasting anymore time, he carefully pushed himself up and began waddling out of their bedroom.
He was going to try and bake some cakes so that he wouldn't have to keep puttering around the kitchen whenever he was hungry and hoping that he wouldn't slip and crack his head.
That Chef Wolfie had hired only came two times a day but what about when everything was finished? Not to mention, the portions she cooked were those served in Restaurants and even Wolfie was getting tired of it.
She had demanded they pay even more money if they wanted full pots of food and it was because Danny was getting tired and could hardly stay on his feet for long that he hadn't fire her already.
Danny was gonna try and do his best to cook for his husband and himself because he wasn't about to let anyone show themselves on him and try to cheat them out of their money.
Just because you're rich doesn't mean that you should waste your money on frivolous things. Letting someone try to siphon more money than was reasonable was one of those things and with the money they were giving her, her cooking should've reflected that.
She was receiving £3000 every day she came to cook for them and the portions never reflected that.
The food she cooked was delicious but the portion sizes were not worth the money.
As soon as Wolfie got back from his case, he was gonna discuss to option of firing her.
He wasn't about to waste anymore of his husband's money.
He would do his best to cook portions that could be refrigerated so that he needn't get on his feet for too long.
He would also try and cook something. It's been a while since Wolfie has eaten his food and he would surprise him whether his case went well or not.
He should always be there to comfort him. Marriage was like a partnership. You should always look out for the interest of each other even when other people were against them.
The one person your husband/wife could always depend on was you.
And that was something he wholeheartedly believed in.
Cooking and pretty much pampering Wolfie was something he wanted to do, not something he had to do.
Wolfie would've preferred to hire people to do everything but Danny wasn't used to such a life. He was used to putting his hands to work because at the end, you could have pride in yourself to know that you did that. You put in the hard word and the end result was more than worth it.
Even if you made mistakes along the way, the more you try, try, try, the better you become. Giving up when you've already begun was a waste of time.
Other people may have things come easy to them while you have to work hard but one important thing that you should never do was to compare yourself with others because your circumstances were different.
People envied rich people because they could buy whatever they wanted while they had to work hard just to get by but the thing is that some rich people worked just as hard as you to get where they were. They've been at rock bottom. Some of them know what it was like to survive on the bare minimum. To finally be able to enjoy the spoils of your hard work was the best feeling in the world.
Everyone's situation was different and even then, you may not see the full picture.
Danny had seen comments of people being jealous that he'd married into money and honestly, money wasn't everything.
They say that money can't buy happiness but they were wrong. It could buy happiness but it wouldn't last forever. As soon as your money ran out then so does your happiness.
It was better to form bonds with people who you know would be by your side through thick and thin.
For instance, look at how quickly he moved with Wolfie. Sometimes you just know when someone's the one and it would be a waste to wait and have that person believe that you aren't willing to commit long term.
He loved Wolfie and the Alpha loved him and he had never once changed as soon as he got him. Sure, he relaxed alot since he first met him but even then he hadn't been enforcing what he was saying.
Although he wouldn't disrespect the Alpha. That was just common decency that didn't have to be mentioned when referring to your partner.
Wolfie respected him and likewise with him.
They had their moments but at the end of the day, they loved each other and the pup growing in Danny's tummy couldn't be any luckier than to have parents who wholeheartedly wanted her to be born.
Sure, they didn't spend very long discussing it but at the end of the day, it was their child, their pup, a piece of them both so how could they ever regret having her?
...
Wolfie arrived home with Victor and Jackson in tow and he couldn't help the low moan which escaped his lips at the scent wafting throughout the house.
"Whoa. That Chef you hired sure knows her stuff," Jackson commented lowly.
Wolfie sent him a snort. "Please. She's good but I know Danny's coo-" he was cut off as both Jackson and Victor sped past him and to the kitchen where he heard a startled yelp before laughter followed.
He couldn't help but roll his eyes, shutting the door behind him so that he could head towards the kitchen where he saw Danny with his spoon in his hand and a bowl of soup on the table infront of him.
"Huh?"
At the sound of his voice, the Omega's head snapped up and a broad smile stretched across Danny's face. "Babe!"
Wolfie grinned and quickly approached him, pulling his chair from behind the table to help him; he pulled the Omega into his arms and pressed their lips together.
Danny moaned and wrapped his arms around his neck, pulling him down so that he didn't have to try and go on his tiptoes.
Wolfie hummed and switched their positions, breaking the kiss so that he could sit down on the unoccupied chair. He then carefully pulled Danny down onto his lap and pressed their lips back together.
Danny moaned as Wolfie's mouth practically assaulted his.
All-the-while, Victor and Jackson were spooning huge amounts of food in Danny's salad bowls instead of using the proper bowls.
"Damn, can't remember the last time I ate Callaloo soup," Victor muttered lowly as he and Jackson drained every drop in the pot.
Wolfie's ears twitched and he broke the kiss to look at the two men who were coming to sit around the table after putting the empty pot in the sink. "Hey! What the big idea?! You come into my home and eat my food without leaving any for me?"
Both of them paused for a brief second before shrugging and placing their bowls on the table and pulled the chairs out. "I'm sure Danny already shared your portion."
He looked at his Omega and saw him nodding with a smile on his face. "Of course, I did."
"Yeah?" He murmured, leaning forward to peck his lips. "Where is it? I'm freaking starving so I don't have enough energy to berate you for doing this instead of resting."
Danny snorted and with his help, got up off his lap. "About that," he started, walking towards the microwave to get his husband's food. "Fire that Chef. It's a waste of money to keep hiring her and we're still hungry because of the small portions. I would rather have tired feet than to have someone use us like that. I know that having a Chef is expensive but she only does breakfast and lunch and the portions are too small to satisfy us. Fire her right now then you can eat."
It was best to get this out of the way incase she came over because she had begged off of coming this morning and he wasn't going to have his husband waste anymore money on her.
So as Wolfie got his phone out, he rested his bowl of food down infront of him and turned to get him a spoon.
He was only looking out for their interests afterall.
