Part 0: How to get Ideas for Content
Lacking ideas? Time to steal.
BUT NOT THE 'DM FOR CREDIT' type of stealing that those Instagram art repost accounts do.
If you're lacking inspiration, maybe you should consume content in your niche.
For example, if your niche is 'teaching people how to leverage instagram for their business', you should ideally have coaching from those who have SUCCEEDED in this niche. Eg, Vanessa Lau. You could read books about social media marketing, watch videos, etc.
All in all, you have to really enjoy the niche you enter, because you'll need to consume a LOT of content to get inspiration to make a few (unless you have WAY too many ideas).
Here are some ways you can get ideas:
-Book summaries/ reading books: Eg, if you're in the productivity niche, read 'Atomic Habits' by James Clear. Take the lessons, apply it to your life. How does it work for you? Share what you tried or learned.
-However, it's better to share what you tested and not what you learned. For example, let's say an Instagrammer advised using 30 hashtags in post. I could test this theory over a month, with 10, 20, and 30 hashtags, and see which posts performed the best. Then, share the results. That would be much more helpful to my audience.
-Also, ask your audience what they want to see! It's good because you value what they want, plus they can give you loads of ideas
-You could create a group (eg, Facebook groups) of your followers. They could discuss stuff and you can eavesdrop sometimes to get content ideas (alfjkslfj). Dapz, a Youtube creator, has said he used many of his Youtube comments to generate content ideas.
-Google/Youtube search and auto-complete also helps!
What is your target audience searching for? Eg, search 'instagram hacks to-' and let Google or Youtube autocomplete it.
These are the suggestions I get, and are probably what most people are searching for.
Answer their questions! Post about it!
-Furthermore, feel free to repurpose old content.
Instagram is different from Youtube. Content has short shelf lives and Instagram's SEO still has a long way to go. Feel free to repost what you posted 6 months earlier- with or without changes. Most people don't even remember what you posted.
-Seen something another creator made, that YOU wish you'd made? Feel free to re-make and add your own twist to it. You can't really 'copy' someone's idea, you can copy their post. Take their idea and add your own takes/ twists to it.
-MEMES! Make memes in your niche. If a type of trend is skyrocketing, try to incorporate it to your niche in some way. Here's an example:
-You can also screenshot your Twitter/ Facebook posts and make a carousel/ photo post.
Here's some content repurposing ideas:
Photos <--- Twitter/ Facebook posts
Carousels <--- Twitter/ Facebook posts
Reels <--- Tiktoks/ Youtube shorts
Stories <--- photos/ carousels/ reels/ tiktoks/ youtube, a lot of options here, but I recommend making polls mostly!
Videos <--- Youtube, Tiktok (However long videos don't do well on Instagram. Elaborated in another chapter!)
Here are some ideas for types of posts:
1. Mistakes: 'top 10 video editing mistakes'
2. Listicles: 'The top makeup brands of 2022'
3. Quick Tips: 'Should you use Hashtags? Should you not? Here's the answer: Use as many as you want that is RELEVANT'
4. Motivation: Lessons you learned the hard way, 'fake it till you make it'
5. Transformation: Before/ after stories. Eg, reach when you use 10 hashtags vs reach when you use 30 hashtags type of stuff.
You can also use the 'Virgin instagram user vs Chad Instagram user who bought my course for 999$' to promote your course. Not sure if people will buy tho....
6. Myth busting: 'earth ain't flat'- top 10 science fun facts
Basically pop some myths people in your niche have.
Good luck!
